Author Note: Happy Thanksgiving! It is time for the newest chapter of this story. I can't believe that we only have two more chapters left in this story before it's done.

Chapter 8

Steve walked into headquarters. He didn't have that much sleep the night before since his mind was racing with all the things that they needed to do before their child's birth. He was not paying any attention when Danny came walking by.

"Man, you look like crap. Did you and Lexi have another fight?" Danny asked his friend with a smile. He knew that fatherhood would either be good or break Steve.

"No, we did not have a fight. Who knew that having a baby would have so much things to go along with it." Steve revealed to his friend as he looked up to find Danny smiling at him. "Why are you smiling?"

"Because, it feels good to see you out of your comfort zone." Danny responded to his friend.

"What on earth do you mean by that?" Steve asked his friend.

"Fatherhood is a good experience to have but it has it's ups and downs. It's pretty much the same thing that Lexi is going through." Danny responded to him.

"Are you sure?" Steve asked his friend.

"Yeah, I am sure." Danny responded as Steve's phone started to ring. Danny watched as Steve looked at his phone and hit ignore.

"Who was that?" Danny asked his friend.

"It was a spam call." Steve lied to his friend.

"It did not look like a spam call." Danny responded to his friend. He knew that Steve was not tell the truth about the phone call.

"Danny don't worry about it." Steve responded to his friend with a smile.

"Are you and Lexi okay?" Danny asked his friend.

"Yeah, we are fine. If you really must know who called me, it was Joe." Steve responded to him.

"Okay, why are you not taking his calls?" Danny asked his friend with a smile.

"Because he knows where my mom is and won't tell me. He claims that he is protecting me but I think that it's more or less that he is protecting my mom." Steve responded to his friend.

"Do you have a problem with that?" Danny asked his friend with a smile.

"No, I don't have a problem with that." Steve revealed to his friend. "What I have a problem with is that he is lying to me and thinks that it's okay."

"Steve, I am not lying to you." Joe said to his friend as he walked into the room. "I am trying to keep you and your family safe. I know that you don't like my answer but that is what it is."

"Well sad to tell you that I don't believe you. You and my mother have lied to me all of my life. I now have a wife and kid to think about. I have to make sure that they stay safe." Steve responded to him.

"I know and that is why your mom wants to meet." Joe responded to him as he watched Danny leave the room.

"Well you can tell Doris to come here because I am not leaving my wife when she needs me the most." Steve revealed to his friend before walking out. Steve did not see that Joe pulled out the phone.

"Hey, we need to get you to Hawaii. It's the only way that Steve is going to meet with you." Joe said before hanging up the phone.
