One Chance
One-Shot, KairixRiku
As I gaze out across the open waters I happen to see your face, smiling at me like you used to. I can't help it. I miss you so badly. If only things didn't have to end the way they did, if only I wouldn't have been so weak then maybe I could have traveled with you while concious. Behind my eyes I can feel small tears begin to build at every thought of you; one for each memory. I really would have shared that paopu with you, I wouldn't have even hesitated.
It's been how long? Three years? Things have definitly changed here and I wished that you were able to see those changes. Even I have changed. I'm of course older now. My hair, once short, is now longer to my shoulders. My life now consists of going to school and then home. Not much of a life, I know, but I just never felt like going out much anymore now that You and Sora are gone and the fact that today is Valentine's Day doesn't help. Selphie got flowers and a teddy bear from Wakka and Tidus received a secret admire. I gladly accepted nothing this year, I didn't want anything anyways.
These beaches bring back bitter sweet memories and everytime I bite my lip to think about them. However, some how thinking of those long ago help me move on with life. They help know that your not gone, forever, I hope. Even Sora's promise to come back still lingers in my head. I beleive that he will fulfill that, but what about you? I never saw you in the end. I never got to speak to you, never got to hear your voice one last time. Without you I just don't feel whole, like a large chunk is taken from me. What happened? Are you dead?
I really had only one chance and I blew it. I never told you how I felt and so I'm now living with the regret for three years to forever. Your heart is what makes me go on with life, Riku. Beleiving that you're there, alive is what edges me on. I can feel your own heart against mine sometimes, it reassures me that your alive out there some where trying to find you way home.
It was then something had flown passed me at a speed the human eye can't match. I had whipped my head in that general direction to see some kind of ship and then a form that pulled it self from the ship wasn't something I would expect. I was running once I saw the silver hair. Without thinking my arms wrapped around a neck and then I screamed your name, I was sure it was you, Riku. I didn't have to look at your face, but did anyways just to stare into you eyes of livid aquamarines. They were shocked, surprised, and happy all in one. Not thinking I planted a kiss on you. It was something that I had wanted to do for years; you didn't pull away from me, but instead snaked your arms around my waist, and added onto what I started.
I'm whole now, Riku.
