Chapter 20: The Song of the Ancients pt 3
"Oh my god."
She couldn't believe her eyes nor believe at what she's seeing. She's afraid that if she blinks then everything will disappear or it will be all an illusion, but from the look on her master's face proves that this is real. Meanwhile Randy keeps smiling as he takes in every detail.
The room was huge with stone statues, standing against the walls, there's words etched into them, written in Latin. There are three on both sides, each of them are 13ft tall, three holes making it look like they had faces; giant wing statue sitting between them with a silver pedestal; a orb of light, glowing bright and illuminating the room in blue. Above them is a drawing of two winged creatures, holding the orb; one is black with devil wings while one is white with angel wings.
"This is it, Brie. This is the room that we've been looking for." He said, gazing in wonder while Brie continued to stare speechlessly "the music was calling me… telling me to follow it just to lead us here. Aurora was right along. I will know when I sense it and I did, and we found it." He turns around to see her staring into space "Brie? Are you okay?" There was no response from his friend "Brie?" He walks up to her, bend down and stare into her eyes. Her brownish yellow eyes are glazed over while her pupils are dilated "Brie?" He grabs her cheeks, sapphire blue eyes filled with concern "Brie."
While he tried to bring her back to her senses, Ori looks at the orb as it glow brightly. He chirps, flying towards the light. Once he reaches it, he stares and listens to the voice as the same markings appeared, going inside the orb. While all of this is happening, Randy gently shook his friend "Brie, do you hear me? Brie, please wake up." He shook her again before yelling her name "BRIE." Suddenly, music was heard causing him to look at the statues as pale blue light shone inside them. He listens to the music closely, being transfixed by its wonderful sound "this music… sounds so… familiar."
"It's their song."
"Huh?" He looks at Brie as her eyes went back to normal "Brie?" He took his hand off her cheeks "are you okay?" She shook her head, opening her eyes.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She looks at her master "Randy… does this song… sounds familiar to you?" A nod was her answer "and do you have this feeling… where something inside you… wants to break free from… its prison?" Another nod before she closed her eyes. She chuckle a bit as she smiled "I finally get it." She opens them again, staring at her master "I always wonder why your energy looks like hers… now I know."
"Energy?" She walks around him as he stands up. Soon the music got louder "wait a minute. What energy are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about the energy that's inside them. A type of energy that creates and destroyed life. It's resided in all of them from the Ancients to the Sages and to the Guardians." Randy raises an eyebrow, trying to understand what's going on here. What does she mean by that? Who are the Guardians? And what energy do the Ancients have? He frowns, closing his eyes before opening them. He looks at his friend but before he opens his mouth, she starts whispering "okay Brie, relax. You got this." Brie opens her mouth and begins to sing a familiar song that makes him feel nostalgic.
Deep within the forest
Is our pride and our ambition
And the fears I have never known-ugh
She cursed as she took deep breath to calm herself. She doesn't know understand why it didn't work. It is because of her singing? I mean sure her voice crack for a bit, but she can still sing 'oh what the used it's not going to work anyway.' Soon another voice was heard, singing the same song.
Deep within the forest
Is our pride and our ambition
And the fears I have never known
Storms is our weakness
And nightmares consume us
I don't want to suffer anymore
Brie quickly turns around to see Randy sing. His voice sounds so wonderful to her ears almost putting her in a trance 'so he is one of them.' She smiles before singing along.
If I fall to the darkness
Pray the light reach my heart
And it guide my way home
After stopping for a bit, Randy looks at Brie "that song. How do they know it?"
"Know it?" She chuckled "Randy, the Guardians wrote it." He gasps in disbelief.
"No way. That's impossible." She chuckled before singing walking to the other side as the orb sends out sphere of light.
B: Fortune and Power
Admiration by the hour
Loved they were, once upon a time
Oh how the tides had turned
They vanish, they disappeared
Oh why did it happen this way?
Randy hugged himself as he began to sing.
R: Though we walked the same earth
Dare I open that door?
And poor all of my trust in some Guardians
B: Curse my sage advice!
I would pay any price
Just to see them here again
He frowns, staring at her in sadness as light spheres surrounded the room, tinting it in pale blue. He put his arms down and sang some more.
R: Magic is the echo of my voice
It's true
B: Yet, the heart to wield it
Betray something within you
Brie turns around and begins walking as he stares at her in confusion.
R: What will you have me do,
My dear old friend?
B: with that gift of yours,
We can change our destiny
As she sang, she stops next to her master, smiling before moving forward as he turns around.
R: How can a single song
Right what has been wronged?
B: Trust me when I say
This is the only way
She turns to face him, still singing as the room became bluer while the orb sends more spheres of light. He bowed his head, singing as he wishes to see Noah while Brie wishes to hold her family again.
R: To see my grandma again
B: To hold my brethrens again
R: I fear not any curse
B: Sing boy, you know the words
With newfound confidence, he smiles as she jumps on him. Both know that they can get what they want if they stick together, and so with power swelled inside him, Randy sings to his heart contents after Brie let go of him.
R: Come forth and hear us for guidance
Who needs stars when you have Ancients?
Transfixed by my melody
Love, admire, and adored
Under our spell you'll roam
Forever
Sway to my music
As we grow stronger
B: Follow us, through the thunder
As we tear you asunder
Their voices became louder, and the room got brighter being filled with light. The lights in the statues glows even brighter while they sang without a care in the world.
R: Come forth and hear us for guidance
Who needs stars when you have Ancients?
Tonight, I'll reclaim my song
In turn, you'll lend me your strength
B: in the dark, we're
Deep within the forest
Is our pride and our ambition
Filled with power, we have risen
From the shadows
B: Storms is our weakness
Let nightmares consume us
We won't even suffer anymore
Soon voices came out of the statues, harmonizing to the music. While this was going on, the seal inside Randy is beginning to break with energy seeping through the cracks, but he pays no mind being transfixed to music, dancing and singing to the song.
R: Dear friend, lend me your guidance
B: Come, child, I'll lend you my guidance
Who needs stars when you have Ancients?
R: Now that I've reclaimed my song
B: Now that you've reclaimed your song
My magic's sealed by your bond
After dancing, the two friends stand in the center of the room, and next to each other as they sang the last verse of the song.
B: If I fall to the darkness
R: Pray the light reach my heart
And it guide my way home
When they stop singing, the music stops playing. They took deep breaths, calming themselves while looking at each other "you… sounded… amazing." He blushes from compliment.
"Yeah? Well… you sound… beautiful." She smirks.
"And you still look cute when you blush."
"Brie." She laughs at her master's nervousness, causing him to pout. She continues to laugh as he glared at her before chuckling which turns into laughter. Two friends laughing together like the good old days while unbeknownst of them, the lights in the statues changes from pale blue to white.
"By the way, is the seal broken yet?" She asks after calming down. He hums, trying to feel it but couldn't, sighing and bowing his head.
"I don't think-"
"Puer luminis."
"What the juice?" They looked up at the statues "um… did those statues talk just now." Suddenly, almost randomly, a crack appeared in the middle of each statue, releasing a glimpse of its light. Slowly but surely, the crack grew longer and longer; spreading across the statues in every direction. Eventually, the crack became numerous and widespread that the sculpture finally collapsed under its own weight; unleashing a bright light as they close their eyes.
When the light finally cleared, the two open them and gasp. Pure shock was written on their face as they couldn't believe at what they're seeing "what the juice?" Standing at the exact spot are six pillars covered in pale blue markings, but that's not what shock them. No standing on top of them is knights, staring down at them. Pale blue light reflecting off their steel suit armor, cape above their pauldron; flowing down to their knees, and built in knuckle-duster gauntlets. There's long plume sticking out of their helmet, representing six elements; fire, water, earth, air, light, and darkness.
Everything was silent with them having a staring contest. None of them said a word for they were too speechless. As they stare, the orb continued to glow and a ball of light emerged, revealing it to be Ori and flying towards Randy thus catching his attention.
"Ori." Said bug chirps, flying closer and stopping inches away from his face. He then nuzzle his cheek, chirping as he laughs heartedly "I miss you too, little guy."
"Where did he come from?" He shrugs as Ori landed on his head.
"Don't know."
"Puer luminis." Both of them looked back up and stare at the knights. The ninja raises an eyebrow before turning to Brie.
"Do you understand what they said?" Before she can answer, the knight with red plume spoke.
"We're sorry. We thought you understand us." Randy looks up as the knight chuckles "it seems you don't speak Latin. Well to translate, it means 'child of light' in our language."
"Brother." Another knight with purple plume spoke "you're off topic."
"Sorry, it just he was confused."
"He looks very confused." Said the blue plume knight.
"And surprise. It kind of cute." The light blue plume knight giggles cutely. From the sound of its voice, he can tell that one is a girl.
"Yeah just like the demon kings." The green plume knight laughs.
"Both of you stop fooling around. We don't have time for nonsense." Said the yellow plume knight. As they argue, the two friends watch, trying to figure out what the juice is going on.
Randy leans to his friend while watching the knights "do you know what is happening here?"
"Not a single clue." Brie answered truthfully. He hums, taking his little friend off his head, and cradling him in his arm. He starts to pet him unconsciously; while watching the show display in front of him "they're acting like children."
"Yeah a bit."
"We should stop them."
"Nah. I wanna keep watching this."
"Randy."
"Okay fine." He pets him one more time before clearing his throat "um… excuse me." On cue, the knights stopped talking and looks down making him become nervous "um… hello... we haven't been properly introduced." He chuckles "this cat standing next to me is Brie." Said cat nod, not taking her eyes off them "my cute friend Ori." The bug chirps. He pets him again, calming his nerves and speaking to them "and my name is-"
"Randy Cunningham. Grandson of Noah Riley, the leader of her people." His eyes widen in surprise, after hearing his grandmother's surname. It had a nice ring to it but wait… what do they mean she's the leader of her people? Is she some kind of royalty or something? He's going have to ask that question later when he had the chance.
"And we know everything about you, but yes we haven't been properly introduced." The red plume knight puts his hand on his chest, and bows his head "I'm Igneous." He straightens up and points at the blue plume knight "that's Azure."
"Hello." Randy waves as Igneous points at the purple plume knight.
"That's Eclipse." Said the knight nods. Suddenly, the light blue knight giggles.
"The one giggling is Aeris."
"I can tell she's the fun one." Brie smiles as Aeris calms down. The yellow plume knight sighs, shaking her head.
"She's also a pain sometimes." She looks down and bowed slightly "I'm Lumina and that one standing next to me." She nods her head to the green plume knight "is Terra, my younger sister."
"Nice to meet you, child of light." Randy smiles.
"And we are the guardians of balance." They said simultaneously, standing with pride.
"We heard your voice, child of light, and we wanted to help you." Azure said as his fellow knights nodded their heads. Randy blinks his eyes while staring at them in shock.
"You heard my voice? While I was singing?"
"Well not your 'voice' voice." Lumina smile "we heard your voice." She then points at him "inside of you, child of light." When she said those words, his eyes widen in utter disbelief while Brie whistled.
"Wait a minute. You mean to tell me… that there's a voice inside me? Like something is inside my body?" Brie laughs.
"No Randy. I think they mean that your true self was reaching out to them." She turns to the guardians "am I correct?"
"Yes, sage of tranquility."
"Sage of Tranquility?" He looks at his friend "why they called you that?"
"Ask Aurora when we get back." Did she just avoid his question? He slightly narrowed his eyes as she cleans her paw "besides she'll be able to tell you and answer all of your questions."
"Fine." He put Ori on his head and cross his arms "so when Brie said 'my true self' what does she mean by that?" The guardians look at each other like they were speaking through their mind. It was quiet in the room, well, maybe too quiet as he shuffle his feet a bit "um… is everything okay?" After what felt like hours but only two minutes, the guardians turn their heads and jumps down, landing gracefully in front of them.
"Whoa."
"Oh my god, are you okay?" While Brie was amazed, Randy was concern as they stands up and stretches, loosening their muscles and sighing in content.
"We're fine, child of light. We done this many times before and we're never harmed ourselves." Igneous answered and looks down to see Randy touching him, checking to see if he's hurt or not "what are you doing?"
"Making sure there are no injuries."
"But I said-"
"I know what you said." He looks up and narrowed his eyes "but it doesn't hurt to check." After finding no wounds, he nodded and moved onto the next knight "Jesus, you do know that you could hurt yourself right? I mean falling off something that high could break a bone or-"
As he continued his work, Igneous stare, completely baffled. He doesn't understand why he would bother doing this, making sure they're not hurt when they fell off the pillars; which they do all the time. It's like he became a mother hen all of the sudden, and that perplex him. If he doesn't know any better, the child kind of reminds him of... the knight blinks and slightly chuckles 'he's definitely her grandson.' Once he made sure there's no scratch or any bruises on them, he went back to Brie and cross his arms.
"Well, I see no wounds so you're okay." Brie laughs.
"Wow Randy, I didn't expect you to turn into a mother hen." He turns his head and frown.
"Shut up Brie. I did the same thing to you when you're just a cub. Shoot, I remember you fell off the counter when I told you not to go up there." Brie frowns.
"I was trying to see what's in the bag."
"Doesn't matter, when I said don't go on the counter, I mean every word."
"I was three months old back then."
"And I was six, but you don't see me complaining." Brie huffed.
"Whatever."
"Oh don't you 'whatever' me." A sound of someone clearing their throat cause them to pay attention to Eclipse, who looks like he's trying hard not to laugh.
"Now that we have your attention, Randy Cunningham. I would like to explain about your 'true self." Randy took Ori and puts him on Brie's head, and nods his head.
"Okay Eclipse, tell me everything you know and don't leave any details."
"Trust me I won't."
In the cool night of Norrisville, Azazel blew out a puff of smoke, feeling the cool breeze against his skin. His ice blue eyes look up towards the moon then to his hands, opening and closing them before a sigh escape from him "Randy."
"Still thinking about him?" He smirks and without looking, he spoke to the voice.
"Are you stalking me, Edge?" A sound of flapping was heard as the same Scexon from the night before appears next to him.
"No but I wish I was stalking you, your highness." He raises an eyebrow.
"Oh? And why's that?"
"So I can stare at your ass all day." Both Scexons laugh before calming down "joke aside, how you're feeling?" Edge asks. Azazel sighs, closing his eyes while enjoying the sound of the wind "your highness?"
"I don't know how I feel, Edge." He opens his eyes and stares at the moon "I feel angry, confused and annoyed but most of all, I feel… I feel lonely." He looks at the city, enjoying the breeze "I mean I have my family, my friends and my two annoying brothers… but I couldn't help but think that something is missing. Like someone is missing and it wouldn't be the same without them." He turns his head, smiling sadly "I guess that's how I feel, Edge. That's how much I miss him… how much I miss Randy." His royal guard smiles as his gold eyes stare into ice blue.
"You're really in love with him huh?" When he received a nod, he chuckles "wow Azazel, I haven't seen you like this since… since…"
"Since what?" He faces the city, gazing at its beauty as his smile change into a frown.
"Since 800 years ago." As if the words sting, Azazel looks away and stare at the stars. It was quiet between them just listening to the winds, staring at the starry night sky and feeling the cool breeze, but it all comes to an end "I remember it like it was yesterday."
"Really?" Edge nods.
"You were so in love with her. That pretty girl… the cheerful maiden, and you always talk about her with any chance you got." He smiles, chuckling a bit "it was cute how she always makes you blush, making you smile or laugh or even make a fool out of yourself. When she confesses her feelings… heh… you two started to become a very cute couple." Azazel turn to look at him whose staring into space "but I guess… it was never meant to be… you were never meant to be together." He clenched his fists, ears flat against his head "isn't funny? After 800 years inside that crystal… you meet another human and fell in love."
"Edge?"
"Tell me, your highness." He closes his eyes, unclench his fist and sigh "are you sure that he's the one? Are you sure this won't be the same like that incident so many years ago?"
"What the hell?!" Azazel turns and faces him, glaring at his royal guard with slight anger "what do you mean by that? Am I sure? Sure about what? That I won't be suffering heartache from the person I love? That I won't go on a rampage? All because of what he did to me? Then yes I'm sure because I know from the bottom of my heart that Randy Cunningham, my chosen mate, will never hurt me."
"How you're so sure of yourself?" His royal guard snarled, staring at him with anger-filled eyes "how you're so sure it won't happen again, knowing deep down that all of this will end before your very eyes."
"None of this is his fault."
"But it's her fault." Soon his expression change from anger to sadness as Azazel frowns sadly "I was there… I was there when it happens… I saw it with my own eyes." He looks away, smiling sadly "it's her fault that you were imprisoned for 800 years, it's her fault that we went into hiding, and it's her fault that our bonds are broken." The demon king turns his head, looking back at the city.
Silence had fall between them as both party stare at the city of Norrisville, watching how lights sparkle under the starry sky. No matter how many years it past, the view is still breathtaking. He smiles as he remember how he always fly above Norrisville and just stare for hours or how he and his brothers watch the children play till they go inside, but that was the past and everything change for not just them but their kinds as well.
He slowly inhale and exhale, blowing out a puff of smoke, closing his eyes. His ears twitch as he focuses on the sound of the wind, breathing in and out, and ignoring everything around him. As he takes deep breaths, images of his chosen mate appear behind his eyelids causing him to smile. He then opens his eyes and looks up at the moon as it reminds him of Randy's sparkling eyes "I miss you."
"I'm sure he misses you, Azazel." He looks back at Edge whose smiling at him "and I'm sure that one day we'll find him and bring him back home." He places his hand on his shoulder and smile bigger "this I promise."
"Thanks Edge."
"No problem." He then frowns making Azazel raises an eyebrow.
"What's wrong?" Edge took his hand off his shoulder and shook his head.
"Oh nothing just… just what do he look like?" He asks softly. The demon king stares before laughing "what? What did I say?"
"Nothing Edge. It was nothing." After calming down, he grins at him "you want to know?" When he received a nod, he turns his head, took a deep breath and blew out blue fire. The fire swirl around and around in the air, and growing to a size of a mirror. Soon an image appears in the fire, showing a boy with Tyrian purple hair and sapphire blue eyes, smiling and laughing "this is Randy."
"Whoa." Another one was shown with him; dress as a ninja, and defending the civilians "this is your chosen mate? He's beautiful, graceful and very skilled." As more images appear, he became more mesmerize with the boy. Who knew that one human can be so mesmerizing that you can't keep your eyes off of them "no wonder you fell in love with him. This boy is simply amazing in every way." A sigh was heard causing him to turn and looks at Azazel, who had a love struck look on his face.
"And that's what makes him so unique." Edge chuckles, looking back at the fire and showing Randy laughing as the ninja.
'You're very unique huh Randy?'
"So… you mean to tell me… that my true self aka my inner self was trying to break from its imprisonment?"
"Precisely."
"And during the song, it reaches out to you and asks you to help it break free?"
"Yes that is very correct."
"So… that means the seal is breaking because it was forcing itself to break free."
"But couldn't do it without your help correct?" Eclipse smiles.
"Right again." Brie raises an eyebrow.
"Well that's very interesting. I didn't know it can do that; which I find it weird."
"I find it cool." The guardians laugh while Randy stares at them in confusion "what's so funny?"
"Nothing at all, child of light." Eclipse smiles "like I said your true self spoke to us while we were in deep slumber. It told us everything that we need to know, and how it desperately wishes to be free." He walks up to him and put his hand on his shoulder "in fact, we can hear it clear as day." He then put his hand on his chest, exactly where the seal is as he follows the hand "and we're here to help."
Randy stares, blinking his eyes and looks up at Eclipse. As he stare, he can see a powerful aura coming from him, but it's very calming and soothing like it can put him to sleep, and he wouldn't have to worry about anything. He closes his eyes and smiles while he feels the warmth from Eclipse that kind of reminds him of Azazel; which hold the same warmth every time he's near him. Oh he'll never forget that warmth from when he hugs him or how he always smiled or the way he laughs… it doesn't surprise him that he started to miss him, seeing how much he love him. Randy laugh softly which makes Eclipse smiled at him, taking his hand off his chest "what's so funny, child of light?"
"Nothing." He answered. He looks at him and smiles "just thinking about someone special that's all." He then grasps his chest while staring at the knight "so how will you help it? You know… my true self."
"By doing a special ritual."
"Ritual?" He and Brie glance at each other, and back to the knights "what ritual?"
"The ritual that will break the seal and release your power." Aeris said.
"And how will that work?" Brie asks, curious of seeing the ritual. The guardians smirk as their eyes glow bright "something tells me this is going to be interesting."
"Indeed, sage of tranquility." Azure looks at Randy "for the ritual to work, the child of light must stand in this very center as Ori use his powers to summon the statues. Once that happens, we will use our power to activate them, and chant out the words while you call out the spirits."
"And how will I do that?" Randy tilts his head.
Lumina smiles softly and spoke "by using your voice, of course." When she received a confuse look, she continued "as we chant, your true self will call them out and once they hear you, they'll come to us, and that's when you sing." He hums before asking.
"Okay I get the gist of it but… what song do I sing?"
"You don't need to worry about that. Right now, relax yourself and once you're ready, then we'll start the ritual." Azure said, turning his head to Brie and smiles "sage of tranquility, can you keep him calm as we prepare for the ritual?"
"Of course, also do you want my help with the ritual?"
"No, you take some rest since you and Randy went through trouble getting here." Brie nodded and looks at Randy, who's looking pretty nervous.
"You're okay, ninja?"
"Yeah just feeling a bit nervous, that's all." He turns to her "how about you?"
"Good, can't wait to see this ritual thing." It grew quiet between them as the guardians prepare themselves. As they wait, Randy looks around the room being mesmerize from the beauty it held. He then looks up to the tapestry of two beings, facing each other and holding an orb; which is a color of blue with bits of gold thrown into the mix. Their wings were folded behind their back, looking big and powerful, and on their forehead are symbols with a dot in the middle. He blinks his eyes, raising an eyebrow. If he didn't know any better, they look like couples, seeing how they stare at each other.
'I wonder what their story? Maybe I ask them when I come back here for a visit.' He thought. A voice interrupts his thoughts, snapping back to reality.
"Child of light." He looks towards the guardians and to Azure "are you ready?"
"I think so… but I don't know if it will work." As he said that, Ori flew into his arms and nuzzle against him causing him to smile.
"Trust us, child of light. It'll work and that seal will surely break." He nods at Brie, who nods back before turning to her master, wishing him luck and walking away. As he watches her leave, he subconsciously pet Ori who's purred while he wait for them to start the ritual. Randy take deep breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly, keeping calm and tried hard not to become even more nervous than he is right now.

'There's nothing for you to be nervous. You're going to do fine, Randy.' His eyes snap open, very surprise to hear a voice inside his head. Suddenly, he heard a giggle which followed by a voice 'you seem surprise. Is it because you never heard my voice before?' The voice giggles as his eyes scan the room, trying to find the source 'Mind looking down here?' Randy did what he told and looks down to see Ori, staring at him with his bright green eyes.
Raising an eyebrow, he pet him on the head, speaking softly as if not to frighten him "Ori… did you speak or was I just hearing things?" Said creature chirps, wings fluttering "Ori?"
'You're funny.' He watches his eyes widen as he giggles at his reaction 'are you okay? You look awful.'
"What the juice? How are you talking right now? When did you talk? And why do I hear a voice inside my head?"
'To answer them in order; I'm speaking telepathically, I been talking ever since I was created, and it's because you have a very strong conscious.' Ori then raise an eyebrow 'or maybe it's because of your power.' He giggles 'you know what, it doesn't matter.'
As he laughs, Randy couldn't help but feel so relax. He listens to the sound of Ori's voice, closing his eyes and sighs. His voice was high-pitched but soft with an airy tone; it's like listening to wind chimes swinging against the breeze on a windy day. The wind hitting the chimes, making beautiful music for you to hear as it sits by your window; you just couldn't help but relax and let all negative emotions evaporate. He smiles as he pet his little friend whose purr affectionately, making him laugh softly. If he didn't know any better, Ori's laughs kinda remind him of…
Ori open his eyes when he felt the hand stop moving, looking up, and stare at him in concern 'Randy?' He slips out from his grasp, flew up to eye level and frown 'are you okay?' He looks up, stares at the small creature, and with a smile on his face pets him.
"I'm fine, Ori. Everything is okay." Ori blink as he stare, worry for him. As he stares, he couldn't help but look into his eyes, catching a glimpse of sadness inside those beautiful eyes. Not only was there sadness but there's a hint of emptiness as well. Why is there sadness in his eyes? What's the source of these emotions? What cause him to feel this way?
Before he can ask, he was called by one of the guardians "Ori summon the statues." Said creature turns around, and nod his head, closing his eyes and concentrate on his power. The markings on his body began to glow along with the pillars, glowing even more bright, blinding the room with its light as the pillars change back into statues. Once it was complete, he open his eyes as the glow dimmed down "nice job." He chirps happily.
Terra giggles before turning to Randy "okay now Randy, close your eyes, focus all your energy and call out the spirits." The ninja nods, take deep breaths, close his eyes and concentrate. He began to focus all his energy into his being, and tries to call out to the spirits; which it's kind of hard considering he don't even know if it will work or not, but if it's going to help him break this stupid seal then so be it. As he concentrates, he can hear the guardians chanting some words in Latin, a language he don't even speak or understand; which kind of frustrate him. He sighs, still concentrating, but couldn't get them to come to him. Also how in the world does your true self call the spirits anyway? Do they talk to them? Do they ask them to come? Or do they send a signal or something? And if they do come to their location, what does he say to them? In fact, what song should he sing?
So many different question flows through his head, making him nervous but also frustrated. He frowns, turning his hand into fists, his eyebrow narrowed in frustration, and his whole body began to shake in anger. He gritted his teeth as he slightly growl under his breath while unbeknownst of him, bright red aura appears around his body, growing bigger as he become more frustrated. He was so lost in his thought; he didn't even hear the guardians calling his name or Ori chirping in concern or Brie's yelling. It wasn't until he felt something rubbing against his nose that he decided to come back to reality 'Randy!'
"Huh?" He opens his eyes to see Ori, concern written all over his face as he stare at him "Ori?"
'Randy! Thank god, you're okay. We were trying to call you but you didn't hear us.'
"What happen?"
'What happen? Randy, you were growling like an animal, and there was a dangerous aura coming out of you.' Randy bows his head, clenching his fists 'not only that but you look like something is troubling you.'
"That's because there is, Ori."
'What?' He said as Randy looks up, frowning in anger.
"I don't understand any of this. I don't understand of this ritual like how was I supposed to know how to tell them where to go? How do I call them when I can barely understand my powers? Or when I don't even know who I really am?"
'Randy.'
"I mean just look at me." He chuckles as he unclench his fists "I'm a teenage boy, who is a freshman in high school, who is also a ninja saving Norrisville from danger. You want to know the funny part? I'm still trying to get used of being a ninja and an ordinary kid at the same time." He chuckles again, smiling sadly "do you know how hard it was… saving everyone from getting hurt or turning into monsters? Do you know how much pressure it put you through? Or how hard you tried to stay friend with someone who know your secret identity? Even though, they weren't supposed to know about it. " The room became quiet as everyone watches him, eyes full of concern as he bows his head "but you don't because you're not human." He looks up and yells "none of you is human."
"Randy."
"Leave him." Azure turns to Brie. She has a monotone expression as she watch her friend "just let him get it out of his chest."
"When I became a ninja, I thought it would be the cheese, but I realize it's very hard work and I have a big responsibility. Sure I mature and I became serious with the job but sometimes I wish I can have one day from all this mess." He casts his eyes downward, staring at the ground; while taking deep breaths to calm his nerves "from saving Norrisville to making sure I don't lose a friend… kind of put some pressure on me." He chuckles, sorrow in his voice as he smiles sadly "but now… after finding out I have a grandma, who I haven't heard from for years, meeting a evil priest that is more scarier than the Sorcerer, having a giant rattlesnake attack me… only to find out that I might possibly be a Lualon. It's just too much for me to handle all of this."
'Randy… I didn't know.' Ori said, his antennas drooping in sadness. Randy laughs, blinking back his tears so he won't cry 'you must be really tired from all this stress.'
"Jeez you think? I'm tired from all this nonsense that I had to put up with. If you think living a double life is easy, imagine living a triple lifestyle, Ori. I don't think I can do it, hell, I just find out yesterday I have a seal inside me for god knows how long, and you expect me to know all of this?" He narrows his eyes, glaring with anger. As he continued to rant, the guardians bowed their heads, feeling pity for the child, who's only just kid is put under so much stress. Who knew a kid was chosen to protect his home from danger all while going to school like any ordinary kid, except he's not like them, he's everyone favorite Norrisville ninja, protecting them from monsters and robots. They didn't know that being a hero can put someone under stress, and no kid should experience that even from young age.
As they watch, Brie stares, frowning sadly as she remembers the time when he first has a meltdown. Randy was just six years old when he had his meltdown, and it was during his birthday party. They was in the kitchen, eating oranges as he watch the kids play around and having fun; which he suppose to be doing since it's his big day, but decided to stay inside and eat fruits. It was peaceful between them, just two friends enjoying each other company until his father came inside, catching his attention from the kids when he asks why he not playing with the other kids. Her master shrugs saying he doesn't want to go outside except stay in the house and play with her. His father frowns and told him to have fun, but Randy didn't budge from his seat, ignoring his dad as he continued to eat. It fell silent in the house as her master's father tried to get his son to go outside while he just plain ignore him, only shrugging his shoulders. It wasn't until he said Noah's name that Randy decided to acknowledge him and ask the very question that had plague his little mind.
Where's Grandma Noah?
Her frown deepens when she remembers the look on his father's face. His face was almost pale; sweats pouring from his head and his eyes were huge. If she didn't know any better, he looks like he was caught from doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing or he was caught in a big fat lie. When he didn't answer right away, he ask the same question again only to hear the 'she's probably home' crap; which prompt him to ask why she's not here for his birthday, and the answer to that question.
She's busy
The look on her master's face broke her heart as he frowns. His father tried again to come outside since it's almost time for the cake, but he just sits there and said no. Before he ask why or say anything, Randy began to yell angrily, screaming for his grandma, and all while pouring out his feelings to the point he starts crying. Tears ran down his face, throwing a tantrum as his father bows his head in guilt before picking up his son, and going up upstairs but not before telling his wife about what happen. She'll never forget his heartbroken look on his cute face, the way he sulks under his blanket, curling into a little ball just makes her want to cry with him. It was that day forward, Brie promise to make her master happy, and find Noah's whereabouts, and she vow to keep that promise.
She blinks her eyes, forcing back the tears as Randy began to scream with his voice full of sorrow "you know what, forget it, forget this stupid ritual, and forget this stupid life. If I knew being a ninja can bring me nothing but trouble then I should just give up my mask, and forget all about this mess because I can't do it anymore." Before Ori can say a word, a gloved hand stops him from speaking "no… don't say anything… I don't want to hear no excuses. I know you don't have any answer, and I know that the guardians don't know either, but all I want to know is… where's my grandma? And why did she leave me?" He said shakily as tears start to stain his face "I mean I don't ask for much just seeing my grandma is all I want, but it seems I won't get that either." He closes his eyes and frown "but please tell me… where is she? WHERE'S GRANDMA NOAH?" Everything became silent as his yell echo around the room before going quiet again. There was no sound, no breathing or no talking just utter and complete silence as no one said a word.
Randy chuckles sorrowfully, staring at the ground as his tears drip down his face. He dropped to the floor, chuckling as he sat on his butt "I figure no one will give the answer I need… I guess I don't deserve to know. Oh well at least I have precious memories of her… until someone erases them then… then…" He suddenly start crying, hugging his knees, head in his arms, and just cry his heart out while Ori looks at him with sadness in his eyes. He flew towards him, carefully not to scare him before landing on his hand; which he then crawl up to his shoulder before cooing in his ear, comforting him in hoping to calm him down.
Unbeknownst of them, the crack on the seal grew as a faint voice was heard. It echoes throughout the temple unknowingly as it sends its voice to someone. Suddenly, the eyes on the statues began to glow white, catching the guardians attention "what the juice? Why are the statues glowing?" Eclipse asks. Igneous turns his head when he heard chirping sound, and gasps in bewilderment, causing the others to turn and gasps as well; while Brie smiles in total awe.
"Oh my god, the child did it."
Meanwhile Randy continued to cry as Ori tried to comfort him, whispering comfort words, but stop when something caught his eye before nudging him "Randy! Randy look up, you got to see this." When he didn't budge, he nudges harder "come on, Randy lift up your head and look." Said ninja slightly turn his head and look at the bug.
"Ori?" He sniffs a little "Are you speaking telepathically?" The bug shook his head.
"No I'm not, but that's not important. Randy, I want you to lift up your head and look around you." He raises an eyebrow as he stare with his slightly red eyes.
"Why?"
"Just do it." Without saying a word or complaints, he lifts up his head, rub his eyes a bit and look up. When he did, a gasp was heard as he stared at the display. All around him, flying in the room, and making trilling noises are the same bugs he saw before. They were flying around, playing with each other while Ori chirps in happiness "you did it, Randy. You finally did it." Randy said nothing as he continued to stare, watching the bugs in complete awe before a question pops in his head.
"Wait… Ori are you and your kinds… are you the spirits?" Said bug giggles, then nodding his head, confirming his theory "why you didn't tell me?"
"I want it to be a surprise." Before he ask any more questions, a familiar music reaches his ears, a music that was so familiar, a single tear ran down his face as he listen to it nostalgically "Randy." He turns his head to see Ori frowning "are you okay?"
Randy sniffs, wiping the tear away "I'm fine, Ori." He then stood up, breathe in and smiles "I'm perfectly fine." Ori blink his eyes as he ignores him, listening to the sweet melody while remembering the song, the one that Noah sang to him when he has a hard time falling asleep. It was in a different language called Tokelauan, and it was also his favorite song, and from the way the language slips from her tongue sound so beautiful. He even knows what it said since she sang the English version to him but he prefers the original version.
As the music got louder, he couldn't help but remember the words she told him when he was three years old, causing him to smile even more as he hear her sweet voice.
Randy, my sweet grandson, never forgets this song or the bond we shared.
He closes his eyes.
Or the promise we made.
He takes a deep breath.
For it brings us closer, for it gives us our strengths.
He relaxes his body.
Our love, our passion, our potential.
Another deep breath.
So Randy… never forget the memories we shared, always cherish them from the bottom of your heart.
He slowly opens his eyes.
And also Randy.
His now silvery blue eyes stare at the spirits and smiled.
I love you.
"I love you too, grandma." He whispered, breathing in and out, listening to the music before putting all his heart, and soul into this one song.
Ou mata e matagi
Ou loto mamaina toa
From hearing his voice, the guardians' eyes widen as they recognize the song. They didn't know that Randy, the child of light, know this song or that he can sing it.
Manatu atu
"Wow."
"He sounds beautiful." The other guardians nod in agreement.
Taku pelepele
Brie rolls her eyes at them "you know… since this a ritual… shouldn't you, I don't know, do your part like chant some words." They snaps out of their trance and nodded before chanting while the light on the statues grew bigger.
Pa mai to mafanafanaga
Saolotoga tenei
Manatunatu
The spirits turns to him, listening to his voice as their body began to glow like the statues.
Ki tamafine
Ori stares at him in awe, his eyes sparkling before closing them as his body began to glow bright.
Maui ai te lumanai
Ki tamafine
Soon the spirits sang along with him, humming to the music, while Igneous took a peek and watch Randy hums with them. As he stares, he couldn't help but smile 'Noah will be so proud of you.'
Ou mata e matagi
As he sang the last word, a faint image of Noah appears, smiling with pure joy before disappearing. He then opens his eyes, smiling 'grandma… thanks you.' Suddenly, the room became bright causing the others to cover their eyes while he and Ori look around in confusion.
"What's going on?" He said till a groan was heard, making him turns his head to see the ninja clutching his chest in pain "Randy!"
"Ori… my chest hurts… it hurts real bad. What's happening to me?"
"Don't worry. Everything will be okay… just calm down and-"
"AAAHHHH." All of the sudden, red cracks appear on his body, screaming from the top of his lung. He then curls himself into a ball, closing his eyes, wishing the pain to go away. Before Ori can do anything, his body became frozen as the markings glow, covering his body in blue along with the rest. Suddenly, the spirits plus Ori turn into spheres and flew into the statues as they watches in shock.
"What the juice?" Another scream was heard, causing Brie to look at her master "Randy." Right before she ran to him, a beam of light shot down, and carries him in the air as the orb sends pale blue light at his directions, flying into his chest thus easing the pain, and calming him down.
"Puer luminis." A voice was heard throughout the room, echoes bouncing off the walls making it almost vibrate. He slowly open his eyes; which is still slivery blue, groaning a bit as he stares into the light.
"Who are you?" The voice chuckles softly, soothing him.
"Ego sum Lux Noctis, natura spiritus."
"Noctis? That's a nice name."
"Gratias tibi, puer luminis." He smiles, feeling the warmth from Noctis. He then uncurls himself and stare, tilting his head a bit.
"Noctis… are you going to help me? You know, by breaking the seal?" The voice hums before sending its energy into him. Suddenly, the light change from white to pale blue; while the light spheres came towards him, slowly spinning around him. As they spin, the red cracks on his body grew, stretching upwards; while he watch in fear "what's happening?" No response as the crack grew even more before a glimpse of light is shown through them "what are you doing to me?"
"Calm down, puer luminis." Randy stares into the light to see a silhouette, floating towards him. It was very faint but he can still see some details on them. Pale blue markings around their legs soon crawling to their hips, and moving to the midsection; circling around the belly button, stretching upwards to their chest, and slowly, surely, moving across their chest and to their arms; while it moves downwards the rest continued by circling around the neck then extend all the way to their face, and twirl around on their forehead, shaping like a diamond. He blinks his eyes as they came closer before stopping in front of him.
"Noctis? Is that you?" They nodded, green eyes staring back at him. They flew closer to him "what are you doing?"
They chuckles, getting closer to him "breaking the seal, so stay still and it will be over in a second." As soon they got close, they lean in while Randy's eyes widen in complete shock as they close their eyes. Before he can open his mouth, Noctis kisses him on the head. Suddenly, the crack begins to fall off, releasing the light as they pulled back and smiles softly, watching as each and every one of the crack fall off, and releasing more light. Randy raises his hands and stare as cracks fall from his body before looking at Noctis.
"What's happening to me? What did you do?" Said spirit just smiles, watching him fall apart "Noctis?! Make it stop. Please Noctis just make it stop." He didn't get to finish as his eyes turn completely white along with his body. The spheres spin faster and faster until they became nothing but a blur.
"What's happening to Randy?" Brie asks, watching the display.
"The seal is breaking."
A huge white orb appears, sprouting two wings as the spheres go inside the orb. When the spheres went inside, a pale blue dot appears before growing, slowly etching itself on the orb until it was pale blue. Soon the orb began to shrink down, forming a silhouette. Brie stares for she couldn't believe at what she's seeing, or that person covered in light is her master. Everyone looks at the figure who continued to float in midair without moving their body.
"Randy?" As if responding to her, his silvery blue eyes snap open "Randy." The ninja stay motionless when two bumps appears on his back, growing as it take shape to reveal a pair of wings, sprouting from his back and stretching outward. The light spheres then flew out of his body, turning him back to normal before flying around him. His eyes began to change back to sapphire blue; which is glaze over as the light carry him and gently lay him down as he closes his eyes. The same voice was heard, echoing throughout the room.
"Rest child of light, restore your strength for you will need it, and until we meet again I will bid you adieu. Goodbye Randy Cunningham." The voice disappears as the statues stop glowing before sending out blue orbs; which release the spirits plus Ori.
"Randy." Brie ran to him, concern for his health. When she got close, she stops and nudges him awake but received no response "Randy, wake up. Please you got to wake up." She nudged him harder, calling out his name, hoping he will wake up but got no response. While she tried to wake him, Ori flew towards them then landed on his back, purring and nuzzling his wings; which caught Brie's attention.
The wings were huge, laying still and covering him like a blanket. They were made of feathers, layer upon layer upon layer of soft feathers. It was soft like wolf's fur or cotton balls, thick and silky smooth. They were platinum almost grey but look white when lights shine on them. It seems to shimmer under the light, and the feathers look so soft that if she touches them they would feel like cloud. The wings look powerful that it can make a strong gust of wind or it can pack a punch by hitting someone and it look very beautiful that if one took a glance they'll be memorize from its beauty.
She stares at the wings in awe before shaking her head "Randy, come on and wake up."
"It's no used, sage of tranquility." The clouded leopard turns to see the guardians behind her "waking him is but a futile."
"So what's wrong with him? Is he in a coma?" Igneous bends down, and put his hand on his arm. It was silent for ten seconds as he pulls back his hand.
"He's okay just unconscious." She sighs in relief while Ori nuzzle his new master "so until Randy gain conscious you're going to take care of him."
"That's good to hear. By the way, can any of you place him on my back?"
"I'll do it." Aeris picks him up and place him gently on Brie's back; while Ori is still on his back "there you go, sage of tranquility."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome, sage of tranquility and to save you the trouble we'll transport you to the entrance." Azure offered making her smile.
"Again thanks but can you drop the 'sage of tranquility' crap. I like it if you called me Brie." The guardians smile.
"As you wish, Brie."
After being teleported to the entrance and saying their goodbyes, the gang went on their way. Brie walked through the jungle while Ori flies next to her "you know besides all that running for your life, and screaming in terror… I think that was pretty fun." Ori chirps in agreement "and I'm glad you're staying with us." He purrs while she smiles.
Randy mumble in his sleep as she rolls her eyes "just sleep away, my friend." As she walks, she couldn't help but look back at Randy's sleeping face, seeing how peaceful he is without any worry 'enjoy your sleep, Randy because you deserve it.'
Suddenly, Ori trilled thus catching her attention "what's wrong, Ori?" He continued to trill as she stares in confusion, trying to figure out what he's trying to say "can you speak like you did with him?" He rolls his eyes at her.
'Can you hear me?' She nodded 'good because someone is heading this way.' She raises an eyebrow then look forward to see a woman in a deep red cloak, walking towards them.
'Who's that women?' She thought, stopping in her tracks. As the lady come closer, a familiar smell enter her nostrils "wait a minute, I know that scent." She sniffs the air before her eyes widen in realization "It can't be." The lady stops in front of them, and smiles softly, looking at Randy.
"It seems the seal is broken." She then looks Ori "and found a new friend." Brie grins, walking to her and purring with affection, causing her to laugh "hello again kitty. Thank you for helping little one."
"No problem but it was troublesome." Aurora laughs as Ori lands on her shoulder.
"Of course. It's an ancient temple." She rolls her eyes "so how he is?"
"Unconscious but he's okay."
"Good." She looks at his platinum wings, folded on his back 'hmm interesting.' She then looks back at her "so you're ready to leave this place?" The duo nods "good now let's go home." Aurora closes her eyes then chants the words "Ianuae Magicae." The gang disappears into thin air, leaving a trail of leaves in their wake. Unknowingly, a figure covered in white is sitting on the tree, smiling as their cosmic hair blow in the wind.
"See you soon, Randy Cunningham." They disappear as laughter echoed throughout the forest.
