Eli turned to see where the voice had come from. Walking through the flames was a man in a black and grey suit, a black cape billowing behind him. His ears looked almost like the horns of the devil himself, the fire surrounding him only adding to that notion. Despite how much of a daze Eli was in, the figure was instantly recognizable to him. Batman had just saved his life. "My name is Firefly!" cried Lynns as he reached down to his belt and grabbed an incendiary bomb, throwing it at Batman, who quickly dodged the projectile. Using this distraction, Firefly decided that it would be better to leave the scene than push his luck and quickly flew away. Batman ran over to Eli and knelt beside him. "Are you hurt?" He asked softly, helping the boy to stand. "I'm fine, but my brother-in-law is unconscious." Batman and Eli made their way back to his now burning home, running to Micha and Lukas. Batman began to inspect Lukas, seeing if there was anything he could do as Eli and Micha tried to process what had just happened. "That was the stupidest thing you've ever done." Said Micha, pulling Eli close to him. "Yeah, I doubt I'm ever gonna be able to top that." Eli replied as the fire department finally showed up, along with the police and a few ambulances. The firefighters began to hose down the still-burning house as Eli and Micha approached. "Is everybody out of the building?" Asked the fire captain. Eli's eyes widened as the realization hit him like a truck. "JOEL!" he cried, turning and sprinting to the house faster than he ever thought his legs could carry him. He had almost made it to the front steps before he was grabbed by Batman. "Stop! It's not safe in there, let the firefighters handle it!" Eli thrashed against the caped crusader, desperate to free himself. "I FORGOT ABOUT HIM! I NEED TO HELP HIM!" Eli screamed as he began slamming his fists into Batman's chest, who placed his hands on Eli's shoulders. "It's ok, son. It's not your fault. They'll find him." Micha approached and took Eli into a hug, consoling him as a firefighter carried Joel outside and placed him into an ambulance. Micha let Eli go and he immediately went to the ambulance, refusing to leave his little brother's side. Micha followed as they loaded a now awake Lukas in next to him. At the hospital, Micha sat in the now unconscious Joel's room as Eli paced back and forth, unable to stop himself. "Come sit down." Micha begged. "I don't wanna sit!" Eli snapped, as Micha walked over to him and sat him down by force. "Batman was right, it wasn't your fault." Tears began to well up in Eli's eyes as his voice went horse. "I LEFT HIM THERE! I FORGOT ABOUT HIM! HOW IS IT NOT MY FAULT!?" He screamed. "BECAUSE IT'S MINE!" Micha shouted, his voice beginning to shake. "Look... if I wasn't a guard at Arkham, Firefly never would have come to the house." Micha dropped to his knees, trying his hardest to keep from breaking down completely. "I did this. Me and Lukas, nobody else." Eli tried to respond, to tell his brother that he was wrong. However, before they could argue any further, a nurse quietly entered the room. "Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt, but there are some visitors here." Micha calmed himself before he got up and responded. "That can't be right, the doctor said that nobody but me and Eli could visit Joel and Lukas." "Oh, I'm sorry sir. The gentlemen are actually here to see you." just as she finished her explanation, two men dressed in suits came up behind her. One of them was a man with short grey hair, the cane in his hand was well kept. The lines on his face showed both age and stress. The second man was noticeably younger, only having a slight touch of grey on his temples. His face was adorned with slight stubble, his bright blue eyes seemed familiar to Eli. The old man spoke first as he gestured to the other. "Hello, my name is Bruce Wayne. This is Dick Grayson, my son." Eli couldn't believe it. Bruce Wayne was standing right in front of him. "Wait, what are you doing here?" He asked before he even realized what he said. Micha gave Eli a soft smack on the back of the head "I'm sorry about him Mr. Wayne, my name is Micha." Bruce shook Micha's hand. "It's alright. I would have the same reaction if our roles were reversed. I'm here because I heard about your situation, and I wanted to lend a hand. I'm aware that Mr. Lynns did significant damage to your home, so I wanted to invite you to stay in Wayne Manor while it's repaired." Both Eli and Micha were taken aback. "Thank you, Mr. Wayne, but we wouldn't want to impose-" "It's quite alright. We have enough space for everyone, and I can get some doctors from my family's hospital to give your husband and brother around-the-clock care." Eli was happy that somebody was willing to help his family, and he liked the thought of living in a big mansion. However, some part of him didn't like the thought of getting to live in a cushy mansion after forgetting about Joel. "So long as we aren't causing you any trouble." Said Micha, interrupting Eli's chain of thought. "You don't need to worry. In a house as big as his, I'd be surprised if we even noticed each other." Replied Dick with a charming grin on his face./p
