After making sure they had what he was looking for, Eli pulled a small statue he had swiped from his new room out and placed it on the counter. "How much can I get for this?" He asked. The store manager inspected the statue to make sure it was genuine. "I can give you $2000." "How about a gun instead?" The manager eyed Eli suspiciously. "Why would you want a gun, kid?" "What can I say? I'm an American." The man let out a little laugh as he put a cheap old revolver on the table. "Fair enough. Be careful with that thing, kid." Eli headed out the door, making his way back to his part of town. He knew where all the low lives hung out, so he decided to head over to their hangout. Heading to the alleyway behind the local gas station, Eli was approached by two men with knives. "Your cash, and your phone, now." One of them said. Eli pulled his new weapon from his hoodie pocket and pointed it towards the men. "Drop the knives. You move, you die." The men followed his orders. "Listen, kid, you ain't gotta hurt-" "Shut up! The only thing I wanna hear from either of you is where I can find Firefly." The two men looked at each other, then back to Eli. "We don't know anything about that!" "Yeah! Why would we know anything?" Eli pistol-whipped one of the men, knocking them out. He then pointed the gun at the other man. "TALK! NOW!" But before he could get any answers from the man, the gun was knocked from his hand by a Batarang. Eli looked to the end of the ally, seeing Batman standing before him. The mugger immediately took the opportunity to book it, leaving his friend and disappearing. "I HAD HIM!" Eli yelled, walking towards Batman. "What you had was a gun and some questions they couldn't answer," Batman replied, leaning in and getting in Eli's face. "Those men didn't know anything, and you could have killed them! Or they could have killed you! You risked the lives of everybody involved tonight, don't let me catch you doing something so stupid again." Batman turned away, making his way to the batmobile. He then opened the hatch and gestured to the passenger seat. "Get in." "You're kidding, right? Why would I get in that thing with you?" "Listen, kid, you can either get in and I can drive you home, or I put you in the car and drive you to the GCPD." Eli knew he had zero chance of outrunning the dark knight. He also didn't feel like getting arrested, so he simply slumped into the car seat. "Wayne Manor." Batman hopped into the driver's seat and started driving. However, when they were almost at the house, he made a turn onto an old dirt road. "Hey, um... Batman? This isn't the way to Wayne Manor." Batman kept driving, not even acknowledging that Eli had spoken. Eli looked ahead and realized the road ended at a brick wall. Batman pushed a button on the center console, and the wall separated to reveal a secret passageway. Driving though, they arrived in a deep cave filled with technology and trophies of Batman's victories over his enemies. After parking the car, Eli slowly exited the vehicle in awe of his surroundings. "I see you've changed your mind." Eli turned to the voice startled, seeing Bruce Wayne. "After I saw the gun, I knew I didn't have a choice." Eli spun around yet again to see Batman removing his cowl. He couldn't believe it, Dick Grayson, one of the men who had just taken him in, was Batman. /p
