Hyrule Kingdom, World of Trophies
It had been two days since the various groups of fighters had arrived. Many of them had grown accustomed to their new rooms over time while others chose to stay on the outskirts and occasionally go into the town for supplies.
Above all else though, their resolve to stop Galeem did not dwindle.
Hyrule Castle Barracks
Ryu was giving all he could on his relatively unusual opponent, a catlike and unusually muscular Pokemon named Incineroar.
While the two were fighting, Captain Falcon was watching the match in case one of them went too far.
"Interesting." Said Ryu. "You have a fighting style similar to a few wrestlers I fought before."
As the street fighter was about to deal another blow, Incineroar caught the left hook he attempted. What really caught Ryu off guard though, was how he was gaining more heat and flame as the fight progressed.
Despite his shock, Ryu still remained firm. "This is fascinating and challenging at the same time."
"I'll let you in on a little secret, Ryu!" Said Captain Falcon. "Incineroar can absorb your hit which increases his attack power and defense on his next move!"
"Good to know." Replied the fighter as he rushed for another attack.
Incineroar came back at him and started to fight back with every move at his disposal. Despite his power absorption, he kept on receiving punch after overwhelming punch. Soon enough, not even his natural durability was able to withstand the onslaught. With one last powerful kick, he effectively ended the fight, rendering the fire type temporarily unconscious.
Captain Falcon then came up to the street fighter. "You did great man! I can see you've got that fighting spirit in you!"
"Likewise, Captain." Responded Ryu.
The racer then headed to his furry comrade and decided to pick him off the ground with one arm over his shoulder.
"I'd like to go another round again." Said the street fighter. "He was a very formidable opponent despite his animalistic appearance. He reminds me of a fighter way back in the day who shared a lot of his tendencies. Instead of fire though, he used electricity."
"Sounds like an interesting guy." Replied the captain. "I'm gonna take Incineroar over to the shop and get him some potions to replenish his health. We'll be back in a few hours! We won't be long!"
As they were leaving, Ryu decided to recover from the fight himself. He did this for about five minutes before he went back to wail on a punching bag nearby.
After an hour, someone approached him.
"I knew you'd come sooner or later." Said Ryu.
The fighter looked back and saw Little Mac with his gloves on and his face as determined as ever.
"I owed you a fight. It's not like me to just walk away after that." Responded the boxer.
Ryu nodded which indicated his agreement to spar with his opponent.
As the two got in their respective fighting stances, they circled around one another, studying each other to point out any weaknesses. After a few more seconds, Little Mac initiated the first blow.
He started with a right hook that Ryu was able to dodge with ease. He continued with a flurry of punches, only to have the fighter dodge each one.
"Incredible reflexes man!" Exclaimed the boxer. "You must have trained extensively!"
Ryu decided to go along with the conversation while still avoiding Little Mac's attacks. "I have. And I respect your fighting style. You must have had a great teacher similar to mine."
The boxer finally landed a gut punch, driving Ryu at least two meters away from him. "He did his best."
Ryu then decided to go on the ranged offensive, summoning a ball of energy in his hands before releasing it. "Hadoken!"
Because of Little Mac's nimble frame though, he was able to evade the projectile.
Ryu chose to keep his distance from the boxer to minimize the risk of close quarters fighting, which the boxer excelled at. To make this happen, he fired more projectiles at the boxer. "Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken!"
Little Mac was able to avoid the energy projectiles with relative ease. Once he figured out the pattern with Ryu's distancing technique, he was able to approach the fighter.
Now that he was within close distance, he could take the brawler on. "I have to admit, Ryu. You're a pretty skilled fighter, and you could more than likely beat me, but I have a spirit that never gives up no matter how insurmountable the odds may be."
As Ryu was avoiding the increasing onslaught of punches Little Mac threw at him, he finally found an opening. "I respect that. Fortunately, so do I."
The street fighter then moved his fist to the boxer's chin as he delivered a powerful, but non-lethal blow that netted him the win. "Shoryuken!"
This final blow knocked out Little Mac to the point where he was utterly down for the count.
To maintain his honor as a warrior, as well as to help out his new friend, Ryu decided to carry Little Mac to his room. He would then get some potions to help him recover just in time for the offensive operation against the Lightspace Army.
"You fight with a spirit I've rarely seen, Little Mac. Rest well. You'll need it for later."
In another section of the castle, Marth was looking out toward the horizon to see how lively the community was despite the trouble the Great Light Convergence caused for them. He could see just how happy natives and visitors were in exploring the many places within the kingdom.
Just when he was about to ponder anything further, a hand was placed on his shoulder. This hand belonged to Ike, the musclebound Radiant Hero of Legend.
"Ike." Greeted the prince. "Did you need something?"
The Radiant Hero decided to respond right away. "I wanted to let you know that those two warriors back there are giving you looks of extreme curiosity. I wanted to see what the big deal was."
Marth looked behind Ike and saw Chrom and Lucina looking at him, both growing curious and slightly nervous. Once the prince got a good look at them, he grew a little intrigued himself. "Now that you mention it, there's something familiar about them, but I can't quite put my finger on it."
He decided to approach the duo with Ike closely following him. Once he got within a close enough distance, he decided to introduce himself. "I couldn't help but notice your curious looks ever since I arrived here. My name is Marth."
However, the two warriors were overwhelmed with shock once they heard the Prince's name. Lucina was the first to say something though. "It… can't be…."
Chrom was about to say something too. "Is it really you?"
Marth was confused by the statements they made. "What do you mean?"
The powerful Exalt decided to explain things in an attempt for Marth and Ike to better understand their history.
"My name is Chrom. The young woman here is my daughter Lucina. You may find this impossible to believe, but we're your descendants. Around 2000 years after your time. During which, you passed into legend and were revered as the Hero King."
With this new revelation, Marth broke down. Not in tears though, but in overwhelming shock and surprise. Along with this, his mind was racing a mile a minute. "How can that be? I… How…?"
This feeling didn't last long though. After some help by Ike, he was able to pick himself back up and repress his emotions.
Chrom decided to explain things further. "We thought it best not to break it to you until after the war was over, but we both agreed it couldn't have waited."
Marth finally composed himself to ask a question, or more of a request. "If you two are descendants of me, then what is our world like in the future?"
Lucina decided she would be the one to explain. "You die of course, but we carry on your legacy against evil, even as far as wielding your own blade against them."
"The Falchion?" Asked Marth, which prompted him to unsheathe his sword.
With this response, Lucina and Chrom thought it best to draw their own blades so that the prince could see them with his own eyes.
After a few glances between the three blades, he noticed something was off. "I don't understand. Your swords look very different from my own.
Lucina decided to give her ancestor the short version of the story. "2000 years does a lot to a sword, but it received a massive increase in power in our time."
"I see." Said Marth. "Now that I look closer, the hilt is completely different, but the blade hasn't changed one bit. This is indeed the Falchion in the future."
The father and daughter couldn't help but smile at Marth's approval.
The Hero King then decided to make a request by reaching out his hand. "May I?"
Lucina understood what Marth wanted and decided to hand him her blade.
While he has the current Falchion in his right hand, his past one was in his left hand, which he decided to put back into his scabbard.
He then took some steps back and decided to do some practice swings. "It feels like it's increased its power exponentially. You weren't lying about this!"
After a few more swipes, he handed the blade back to his female descendant. "It's strange to meet your distant descendants after so long. That light certainly had a way of bringing people together."
"What other things you think might have happened from that light?" Asked Chrom.
Marth was quick to respond. "From what my ally Meta Knight told me, the Great Light Convergence may have more consequences along with interdimensional fusion. It's also believed that the phenomenon can also apply shifts in times as well as make anomalies in time from two different periods. Apparently this very kingdom is a result of the latter outcome. Now that you mention it, it does not really come as a shock anymore."
"Interesting." Surmised Lucina. "I'm guessing that's how we wound up here and how you're with us in the first place. Our revered ancestor."
"That's our most logical conclusion right now, but later, I hope to find some more answers from Galeem himself." Replied the Hero King.
Ike decided to include himself back in the conversation. "We all do, but right now, the best thing we can hope for is to win this war by any means necessary."
With the Radiant Hero's words of encouragement, Marth, Chrom, and Lucina felt more confident in the future battles that awaited them.
Back in the outskirts of the town, Ness was fixing to get some of his own luggage back from the Falcon Flyer stationed outside the town walls.
As he was entering the passenger bay of the ship, he could hear a sound similar to a high pitched squeak.
"That's odd. I'm sure everybody got off." Said Ness to himself.
After he looked through a few places inside the ship, he determined the source of the sound to be inside a compartment located in the very back of the ship.
After a few deep breaths, he opened the compartment and found a yellow creature similar to Pikachu, but with smaller and less determined features.
The creature was filled with curiosity and a slight amount of fear. "Pi.. Pichu…"
Ness could see the creature was unfamiliar to its new place, so he decided to comfort the creature. "I see. I saw you come with us after Mute City, but I guess you were scared to get off huh little guy?"
He reached into his pocket and found some candy that he was going to eat later after buying it from the Hylian bazaar.
He took a few pieces and slowly handed them over to the creature after taking off the wrappers. "Don't worry. Have some of this. I'm not gonna hurt you."
It then decided to take the candies and eat them, which promptly satisfied the critter's spirits. "Pichu!"
Pichu then decided to jump onto the PSI wielder's chest and nuzzle it with its head, indicating its displays of affection. He then decided to accompany Ness, indicating the budding friendship between them.
Ness accepted Pichu's affection, and the two later made their way back into the bazaar.
Unfortunately, the PSI wielder saw someone he thought he wouldn't see in a long time. The biker gear, obese frame, and strange mustache all checked out. It was a man that angered and disgusted Ness after what he did all those years ago.
With this confirmation, Ness made his way over to the individual in a rage while Pichu followed him out of genuine concern.
"You!" Shouted Ness at the top of his lungs. "Did you really think you could get away after everything you pulled?"
Wario was buying some big game meat and garlic herbs from one of the vendors before he looked in Ness's direction, immediately remembering how he tormented him and Lucas during the Subspace War.
"Uh oh." Was all the former microgame entrepreneur could say before he made a run for it. Before he could make it far, he ate his purchased meat and garlic whole with his large mouth.
He ran through an alley and a few residences before winding up at a dead end. Wario was about to go back, but Ness and Pichu finally caught up to him.
"You have a lot to answer for Wario!" Said the PSI wielder. "You captured me and went after my friends! How can that be forgiven?"
Bullets of sweat were coming off of Wario's face as he realized he was cornered like a rat. "Okay! Okay! I know we were on-a different sides back-a then, but I've-a changed now! We're after Galeem and you still haven't-a let the Subspace-a War go?"
"Not as long as you don't regret the actions you've taken." Responded Ness.
"Look." Started Wario once more. "The people in the Subspace Army were gonna make-a me rich, but then all that-a fighting happened and I wound-a up trapped in Subspace and fighting against Tabuu. Long-a story short, I was-a in it for the money and just-a to survive."
"Then why are you apparently fighting with us now?" Asked the PSI wielder. "You greedy scum?"
Wario decided to answer truthfully. "I was-a given a promise of half the riches from-a Peach. Also, I wanna be alive to use-a the riches after all this is-a over."
With that answer, Ness let go of his powers and turned the other way.
"What's-a going on?" Asked Wario confusedly. "Aren't-a you gonna beat me down?"
Ness proceeded with an answer as he was walking away. "You're on our side right? Go ahead and fight with us. But if I see the tiniest hint of betrayal coming from you, I won't hesitate to put you back in your place by force."
The obese biker understood this warning, given that this wasn't the first time someone threatened him if he were ever to betray the group.
Pichu was watching the whole thing and was impressed with Ness's tendency to understand others, even if they've caused great harm.
The PSI wielder and the small electric type Pokemon soon exited the alleyway, leaving Wario to himself and his own thoughts.
After a few more hours of the fighters further integrating themselves within the kingdom, a bell rang out, indicating a new arrival to the town.
With this bell, many citizens, as well as a few fighters, were excited as to whom the new arrivals were.
The fighters present at the entrance were Robin, Ryu, and Captain Falcon.
When the new visitors passed the castle town gates, many residents were overjoyed. "The Sheikah Tribe has arrived! Lady Impa has lended her support!"
Ryu was amused about the additional reinforcements that came their way, but what really stuck out to him was one person in particular. One that he thought he would never see again. This man had a face, visage, and build that he thought was unlikely to appear.
Once he got a good look at the person, he was filled with overwhelming eagerness. "Ken! Ken! It's me!"
Ken Masters was in the crowd of Sheikah warriors when he heard a name call out to him. "Ken!"
He looked in the direction of the voice and saw his best friend Ryu standing among the dozens of residents looking in the visitors' direction. "Ryu!"
They walked towards each other and gave each other a firm handshake before escalating into a brotherly hug that lasted for at least a few seconds.
"I never thought I'd see you again man!" Said Ken.
"Likewise." Replied Ryu. "I can't believe we found each other again!"
The red uniformed fighter got excited even further. "Dude, I have so much to tell you about!"
As much as he hated to do it, Ryu decided to tone down the excitement in his best friend. "So do I Ken, but let's save it for when we're in the castle."
Among the rest of the crowd, Corrin was taking in the view of the new kingdom and admiring it, comparing it to the kingdoms she has been to. "Amazing. Just spectacular."
Robin soon approached her and immediately grew curious.
Corrin was understandably confused. "Is there something wrong?"
After observing a little more, the mage realized he was overstepping a little bit. "My apologies. It's just that part of you looks familiar, in some way."
"I understand. I took no offense." Replied the draconic shapeshifter as she extended her hand. "Corrin."
The mage decided to reciprocate the greeting. "Robin. Pleasure to meet you."
As Emma, the experienced fitness trainer, was getting through the crowd, one person caught her eye. A man wearing a regal bird helmet with a blue uniform and a golden scarf.
He caught her notice and started approaching her eagerly.
The fitness trainer was expecting an overbearing welcome, but it was not that at all.
The man then said something. "You must be one of the warriors that came here with the Sheikah Tribe. What might your name be?"
After some initial confusion, she decided to respond. "Emma. Fitness trainer extraordinaire."
"Interesting. You must know a lot about exercise, especially fighting." Assumed the racer.
"I'm overall more of a mentor than a fighter, but I'm not opposed to engaging in violence every so often. I employ a lot of martial arts into my routines. More now than ever thanks to this. By the way, you never told me your name."
The racer wasted no time introducing himself. "Call me Captain Falcon. Esteemed racer of the F-Zero circuit."
This introduction piqued Emma's interest. "Interesting. I've tried to race a really fast car before, but the wheel and engine feel like too much to handle. Yours must be extremely fast."
Captain Falcon decided to clarify his former career. "My Blue Falcon isn't so much a car, but it's at least 30 times as fast as one. I can show it to you if you want."
"Let me get adjusted to this place first." Responded the trainer. "I appreciate the offer though."
"Don't worry. Take your time." Said the captain as Emma was leaving elsewhere within the kingdom. "You'll make an excellent ally nonetheless."
Once everyone made their greetings, Princess Zelda, along with a few other fighters, made their way down to the Sheikah Tribe with the intent of speaking with their leader.
"I'm so grateful your Impa could spare the troops to aid us." Said the princess to the leader. "Now that you're here, we can proceed on with the meeting that will end Galeem's threat on this world."
Zelda then approached King Dedede and a few more Hylian generals. "Have everyone make their way to the briefing room. It is about time we discuss our plan of attack."
With every fighter gathered in the briefing room, Zelda decided to initiate her plan.
"I hereby call this meeting to discuss the offensive against Galeem." Declared the princess. "One of my allies has informed me of a homing device he placed on one of Galeem's ships during the Battle of Inkopolis."
Fox McCloud soon stepped up to the center of the room and the table. "That's right, princess. I was able to place a tracker on the fleeing warship that Galeem sent to Inkopolis before landing back down to recover from the battle."
Zelda then decided to continue with her plan. "Fox has been working on calibrating the tracker to determine the very exact location of the ship. Once we find that ship, it can lead us to Galeem, where we will strike with all our force against him. With strength in numbers and spirit, I am confident we will win this war."
Everyone was confident in their ability. Not only to win, but also to survive the struggle as well.
"We have not had the exact location yet, but once we do, Fox will use his homing device and have the location show up on the screen you see now." Explained Zelda.
A captain of a Hylian soldier platoon soon pressed a button on a Sheikah tech remote. Showing a three-dimensional holographic image with a fully global map of the World of Trophies after being affected by the Great Light Convergence.
Some fighters and soldiers were amazed by this new leap in technology while others kept their cool, subtly expressing their technological familiarity.
It was then Fox's turn to speak once more. "Once I fully calibrate my tracker, the location of the ship will be revealed."
After a few final adjustments, the Star Fox Pilot was able to fully calibrate the device to determine a precise location. However, he was shocked with what he found.
Diddy Kong rushed over to his side. "-Fox? What's wrong?-"
"It can't be…" Said Fox in utter disbelief.
"What's wrong, McCloud?" Asked Bowser impatiently. "Did you figure out the location or not?"
The pilot then soon revealed its location on the holographic map. Once everyone got a good look, they were in disbelief. Fox soon said what was confirmed on the map. "The ship is headed for Hyrule."
A scout from outside soon barged into the briefing room with his face flushed with utter panic. "Everyone! We have a problem headed our way!"
After some panic and scrambling, everybody went outside the castle and saw what they couldn't believe on the southern horizon.
Rapidly approaching the kingdom were six Lightspace Army warships with the one that attacked Inkopolis among them. To make things even worse, the ship commanding them was the fusion cannon warship that destroyed Skyworld.
With this sight, everyone was overwhelmed with shock.
Fox soon realized what this display of power meant. "This is it… His final operation… Galeem's sent that fleet to utterly defeat us once and for all… It'll come down to either us… or them."
"What do we do?" Asked Peach.
"We fight. That's what we should do." Said Meta Knight.
Zelda then proceeded with thinking of a backup method. "We need a new plan. We can't just attack blindly."
King Dedede was quick to disagree. "How can we make a new plan right off the hammer? They'll destroy us all by the time we come up with something decent!"
"I may already have something." Replied the princess after thinking for a moment. "I got it. We need to have four teams consisting of every fighter, warrior, and soldier we have. The first team will man whatever aircraft, guardians turrets, and artillery we have to defend the kingdom from the fleet."
The Hylian continued with her plan. "Our second team will board one of the Halberd's troop transports and mount an attack on the fusion cannon command ship."
Zelda then looks towards Palutena, Bayonetta, and Dark Pit. "From what you two told me, that ship has the ability to wipe entire nations off the map. Because of that, taking out their most powerful weapon is our main priority. If we succeed, it will give us more of a fighting chance."
The princess then proceeded with the last parts of her plan. "The third team will be on the land outside the town and defend the kingdom from any hostile ground attacks the fleet may dispatch. Guardian stalkers will be among the soldiers for support."
"What about the fourth team?" Asked Snake.
"Our final team will stay inside the castle and oversee the fight." Explained Zelda. "Everyone, pick your team now, because this battle will forever determine the fate of everyone in this world!"
Once Zelda finished her plan, everybody chose their team within the next minute and made their way to their respective locations.
The princess then turned to a general in the Hylian army. "General, have a platoon of your soldiers order the civilians and visitors to keep safe and stay indoors. Remember, safety is not only yours, but their top priority too."
The general gave a nod, indicating his understanding before he left to join his squad.
Before Zelda could enter the sanctum, Palutena approached her with something that she needed to say. "Princess Zelda, I have a power that may provide us with more of an advantage."
The goddess of Light whispered in Zelda's ear, with her face indicating surprise. "Go ahead and use it then. We need all the protection we can get."
Zelda then made her way over to the sanctum with Palutena following closely behind, keen on providing whatever help she could.
Along with them, every soldier, warrior, and fighter inside the kingdom was preparing for the brutal battle ahead. With each passing minute, they all knew that they were in for the fight of their lives.
