Hey guys! I'm back with another brand new chapter I have ready for you all! Finally. After so long, we begin the climactic battle of Hyrule. Which side shall ultimately reign supreme, the fighters' alliance or Galeem's Lightspace Army? Read on to see how the fighting begins!
Before I continue, I don't know whether to purchase Super Mario 3D All-stars, or Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I only played Mario Galaxy back in the day, but I'm hoping I can have a chance to play the other two. 3D All stars might help me on that. However, Age of calamity looks good too but I'm hoping to see a bit more in terms of story and gameplay in the coming months.
Don't forget to fave, follow, and review! Now, without further delay, let's get into this brand new chapter!
Disclaimer: I don't own Super Smash Bros. It is owned by Nintendo and Masahiro Sakurai.
Hyrule Kingdom, World of Trophies
Every fighter that resided in the kingdom had finally formulated a plan to take down Galeem. Unfortunately, that plan had to be scrapped because the Lightspace Fleet had found them, fully intent on defeating them and retrieving the last source of power for the Lord of Light to obtain.
Commanding the devastating fusion cannon mothership was the combined leadership of King K Rool and Samuel, the Lightspace Mii Gunner.
Both commanders were in the main bridge, with Galeem's humanoid hologram along with them.
K Rool was the first to speak up. "We finally found them. They're holed up inside that castle."
"Destroy anyone who stands in your way. Both of you. If you defeat any fighters, they will turn into trophies. Once they're turned, capture them and bring them to me so I can purify them to my will." Ordered Galeem.
"Understood master." Responded Samuel.
Galeem's hologram then shut off.
With their master not in contact, it was the gunner's turn to initiate the order. "Initiate laser cannon bombardment."
With that order, every ship in the fleet rained fire down on the kingdom, people were expecting there to be destruction, but there was a huge barrier dome protecting the entire castle, town, and its surrounding open field from the onslaught.
Within the sanctum of the castle laid the source of the barrier: The Goddess of Light Palutena.
Peach, Zelda, Isabelle and King Dedede were also with her in case she needed support, as well as tactical help for the rest of the fighters.
"How're you holding up Palutena?" Asked Zelda worriedly.
Palutena was grunting, indicating the great strain she had with the barrier. She was holding her staff down as well, pressing it against the floor to further strengthen the dome. "It's… taking a ton of power… to put up this barrier. I believe I can hold it for… an hour at most… but it's overtaxing my power… and body. We have to take out the command ship… in that time window. Otherwise… we'll lose."
"Don't worry, Goddess." Said Peach. "I have faith in the strike team. They'll get it done."
Samuel and King K Rool saw that the bombardment was doing no good against the barrier Palutena conjured, so the elite gunner decided to give another order. "Cease fire."
With that order, the fleet's laser cannons stopped firing, leaving the fighters alone.
The gunner then gave out another order. "Prepare dropships. We'll be taking this fight on the ground and in the air. Also, prepare the fusion cannon."
K Rool objected to this. "Galeem ordered us to capture the fighters alive."
"You aren't seeing the big picture here, crocodile." Said Samuel. "Galeem will want the fighters yes, and the fusion cannon will only knock out the barrier protecting them. Once it's down, we'll storm the kingdom and capture any fighters worthy of Galeem's purification. We'll destroy anyone else who stands in our way."
With that assurance from the gunner, K Rool obliged and moved ahead with the plan, until he hesitated once more. "One problem though… The fusion cannon takes ten minutes to charge and it still hasn't recovered from the last time it was used."
"Not to worry." Responded Samuel. "The fleet will defend us until then."
Back in the castle, Zelda came out of the sanctum to see the rest of the fighters and their soldier allies.
Just before she was about to say something though, an electronic whirring sound came from the fleet. This caused nearly every fighter to see what was going on.
"Something's happening in the fleet." Said Peach over the communicator.
Every ship released a total of twelve dropships the size of small buildings descending and crashing onto the ground like a meteor storm. They ultimately landed in the southern side of the kingdom, right where the opening gate was. Once they were fully on solid ground, they stood there, waiting for opposition.
This prompted Zelda to give out her next order before holding on to a communicator. "Ground defense team, prepare to hold back any forces that come from the enemy landing zone."
"Understood, Princess." Said Chrom on the other line. After he received the order, he hung up and waited among the rest of his team on the southern edge of the barrier.
This team consisted of all the Hylian soldiers, as well as Guardians and the fighters that chose to be a part of the group.
They included Captain Falcon, Bowser, Robin, Ike, Corrin, Little Mac, Ryu, Ken, Simon, Richter, Matt the mayor, Ness, Jigglypuff, Pichu, Incineroar, Bayonetta, Emma the trainer, and the Duck and Dog duo.
They were all waiting for the enemy's next move among the blocks of soldiers and guardians the kingdom provided for them.
"I never thought I'd fight alongside humans like this." Said Bayonetta.
Overhearing the Umbra Witch's statement, Matt decided to give his own opinion. "I always thought I'd have an exciting life, but I guess this blows what I had in mind out of the water."
A voice could then be heard on everyone's comms. It was soon heard to be Zelda's. "Attention everyone, sensors are picking up two unidentified signatures coming from the enemy dropships."
Once everyone received that, they started looking for them, only to find the two approaching the barrier dome.
The fighters saw who was walking toward the barrier's edge. It was the red haired elite swordfighter Scarlet, and the ruthless space pirate Ridley.
They stood at the edge of the barrier, prompting other fighters to meet up with them.
The ones who came were Chrom, Captain Falcon, and Bowser.
The retired racer was the first to speak up. "So you finally came to end us?"
The swordfighter was quick to respond. "You are mistaken. We've come to take the last step in our purification goal. You have something we want, and we won't stop until we obtain it."
What is it you want? "Asked Bowser.
Scarlet decided to answer. "The last source of light Galeem can use. The Goddess of Light Palutena."
"That's not gonna happen." Responded Chrom. "We'll protect every one of our friends and allies with our dying breath if we have to."
"So be it." Said Scarlet as she was backing away from the barrier edge.
The three fighters leading the charge decided to head back to their group.
Once the swordfighter was far enough, she raised her blade, indicating a signal to the dropships.
They started to open bottom compartments which could fit an entire fleet of cars on their own. What came out of the compartments though was far worse. Once they got clear of the openings, the defenders could see what was approaching.
There were at least 30 Lightspace Army tanks which were about three times bigger than a Hyrule guardian. Each one mounted a main plasma cannon, two side blasters, and two concussive missile launchers. Their armor looked to be impenetrable, and each one was operated by a small crew of Light Primids.
"Those things look tough." Said Little Mac. "I don't think the barrier can hold an onslaught from them."
"Don't lose hope yet." Said Simon. "The battle is just beginning."
Once the tanks got within twenty meters of the dome, the fifteen ones located in the middle had their main cannons light up.
"What're they doing?" Said King Dedede over the intercom. "I don't think they'll be able to break this barrier if they continue firing. If you're asking me, they're wasting ammo."
"No." Responded Robin quickly. "Take a closer look. See how they're all aiming for one point? That might be enough to make a hole in the barrier, big enough for several people to fit through!"
"Charge it a little longer… " Said Scarlet before waiting for the right time to give out the order.
Chrom decided to give out an order himself. "Shields up! Brace for impact!"
With that order, the front walls of Hylian soldiers raised up shields. Some walls' shields even glowed blue due to their ancient technology.
After a few more seconds, she pointed her blade at the aimed opening as she was about to give another order. "Fire!"
The center tanks simultaneously blasted their cannons right at the centerpoint in the barrier, creating a hole just big enough for a small vehicle to fit through.
Scarlet then activated a communicator on her wrist. "Release them."
The fighters were curious as to why none of the enemy forces were making their way through. However, their thoughts changed when they heard hundreds of rapid animalistic footsteps crawl their way out of the same dropship compartments the tanks came from.
Captain Falcon was the first to comment about the new development as he held some binoculars. "I have a visual on new enemy forces approaching the barrier opening. They look to be wolves, but something isn't right about them."
When Simon and Richter got a good look at the creatures, something clicked in their minds.
"Uh guys?" Said Richter. "I think we now know what Dracula's blood and horn were used for!"
Each being crawled on all fours, but could have the ability to stand on its hind legs and have significantly more upper body muscle. This made them almost human in appearance. They also sported a golden mane and tail, with silver fur on its legs and underbelly. Finally, they had razor sharp teeth with its canines significantly longer than the rest, confirming their vampiric look.
"May I introduce you to the newest division of the Lightspace Army! The Light Berserkers!" Declared Scarlet. "May they utterly defeat you in the ensuing battle!"
The creatures finally reached the hole, clawing their way through and crawling toward the fighters stationed on the other side.
"Keep those shields up!" Ordered Chrom. "Archers! Guardians! Prepare to take aim!"
After the Berserkers got in close enough, the commanding swordsman decided to give out the order. "Fire!"
With that word of action, the archers shot their varied but powerful arrows at any enemy that came their way. Additionally, the guardians' aim was nothing but accurate and powerful. Their eye blast could take out at least three berserkers in one precise shot.
Finally, there were a few fighters who decided to lend their ranged attacks at the berserkers. Ryu and Ken were releasing Hadokens, Matt was using his modified slingshot, Robin was using thunder tomes, and Bowser was spewing fireballs.
Each fighter was able to take out their fair share of opposition. However, the combined firepower they all had was barely enough to keep the Berserkers at bay.
"They're getting pushed back into a standstill." Said Scarlet before holding up her wrist communicator once more. "Middle tanks, maintain the opening. Side tanks, fire on the barrier to further weaken it."
The tanks proceeded to follow her orders without question.
Back in the sanctum, Palutena was struggling to maintain the barrier even after the hole had appeared.
"How is it now?" Asked Zelda concernedly.
"Despite the hole… I'm still maintaining the barrier fine. Hopefully… this battle won't drag out… for longer than I anticipate…"
"I hope so too." Responded the Hylian Princess. "Otherwise, we'll lose for good."
She then turned toward another Sheikah communicator she had on her wrist. "Air support, strike team, it's your turn."
With that order, the Battleship Halberd made itself known to the fleet by rising from its hiding spot behind the castle. Accompanying it were a fleet of support ships along with Bowser's remaining airships. They made for an armada capable of defending the kingdom from any ordinary threat. However, the Lightspace Fleet was beyond any such word.
The Halberd started to fire its blasters along with the airships firing their cannons to defend the barrier and prevent it from falling.
The enemy ships were taking some minor damage, but were still fully armed, armored, and operational.
This prompted them to fire back on the Halberd and Airships with the same laser cannons used to bombard the barrier earlier along with their own missiles.
Despite what battles they had been through in the past, the Halberd and Bowser's airships were holding strong.
After some time had passed, a troop transport ship had departed from the Halberd along with Fox piloting his Arwing to their right and Dark Pit flying along their left.
Piloting the transport was Snake, who was no stranger to flying aircraft in the past. "You all alright back there?"
Inside the transport was Meta Knight, Greninja, Marth, Lucina, Roy, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Cloud, Amelia the Inkling, Luigi, Daisy, Yoshi, Wario, Bowser Jr., Pac-Man, The Ice Climbers, and Olimar. The Sheikah Tribe was also with them for further reinforcements.
Meta Knight was the first to respond. "Never better, Snake!"
The stealth soldier then pulled up a communicator to Fox and Dark Pit. "Alright you two. Make sure to cover our landing on the command ship."
"Understood." Responded Fox.
Dark Pit gave a nod to the transport window, indicating he received the message.
Fox and Dark Pit then sped up using their Arwing engine and Power of Flight respectively while taking out the laser cannons that could impede the transport's landing.
Once they took down enough, the transport was able to land on the command ship with ease.
The front door opened to reveal the fighters and Sheikah tribe members running out of the craft and taking out laser cannons to minimize the threat to the ground below.
One Light Primid crew member saw what was unfolding and decided to report the news to Samuel and K Rool. "We have an enemy transport that's landed on our hull!"
With this knowledge, the elite Mii Gunner knew what he had to do. "I'm going out there. All Fusion Cannon Light Squadrons, with me. Intercept any fighters that dare to reach this command deck."
Leading the strike team charge was Snake, Meta Knight, and Marth, with Diddy Kong and Bowser Jr. flying alongside them.
However, they wouldn't get very far as many of them saw a new development unfolding.
"Uh guys?" Said Amelia as she noticed several objects landing in front of them. "Looks like we're about to get company!"
The team saw that multiple Lightspace transports were touching down on the hull, as well as the hull's hatches opening.
Coming out of them were dozens of Light Primids, Light Golems, and Lightspace Knights to block their path. The Primids were a problem this time around because they carried an assortment of weapons including ray guns, super scopes, beam swords, and hammers. Some of them even wore jetpacks for aerial combat.
"We're gonna get overwhelmed!" Said Olimar.
Luigi was surprisingly the one next to respond. "Don't-a give up! We have-a to reach that-a bridge at any cost!"
Snake was using grenades and Nikita missiles to scatter enemy troops while Marth, Roy, and Lucina were each dealing with a skilled Lightpsace Knight.
Meanwhile, Donkey Kong and Wario were using their combined strength to fight a few Light Golems as Meta Knight, Diddy Kong, and Bowser Jr. used their aerial capabilities to take out incoming Light Jet Primids.
This left the rest of the fighters and Sheikah tribe members to fight off the various remaining Lightspace forces.
Despite the strike team's strength and the fact they were holding their own, both sides were at a standstill as well.
Some of them knew that they needed to get closer to the bridge in the limited time they had. After all, it was a race against time.
Back on the ground, the fighters and soldiers were all holding their own against the onslaught of Berserkers that came their way, but keeping them back with projectiles wasn't enough.
Many of them were getting through the defenders' barrage and approaching ever closer on them.
"They're closing in by the second!" Said Peach over the intercom. "You're gonna have to come up with another plan! Projectiles will only slow them down!"
Bowser came up with a plan. "I know what we should do. A head on charge."
"That's incredibly risky!" Responded Zelda over the comms.
"No." Interjected Robin. "He's right about that. It might come at a cost, but it'll most effectively prevent the enemy from reaching Palutena inside the castle if we keep them all at one point."
Chrom could tell this was the only way. "I agree with him on this one."
"I see." Said Peach. "Do what you need to do, but all of you, come back to us alive."
"We will." Chrom then gave out an order. "Shields down! Prepare for a forward charge! Guardians, stay behind and keep us covered!"
The Falchion wielder gave a few seconds for the fighters and soldiers to get a running start.
The Berserkers were approaching ever closer and were about 200 meters from the fighters.
"Now!" Shouted Chrom. "For Ylisse! For Hyrule! For our World!"
With that order, the soldiers all shouted and raised their weapons in unison before they ran behind the fighters to face the Berserkers head on.
The fighters and soldiers ran toward the approaching enemy with spirits in their hearts, willing to use whatever means necessary to protect their kingdom.
Once the two groups collided, they violently clashed with initial casualties being Berserkers and soldiers alike. Every fighter was holding their own, but they all knew it wouldn't last for long.
Chrom was slicing down enemies left and right alongside Captain Falcon, Incineroar, Little Mac, and Bowser.
Along with that, Ryu and Ken were fighting troops with their backs against each other while Simon and Richter had a similar dynamic going on.
Ness was dealing with his own share of enemies with Pichu on his shoulder, helping him out with anything that came from behind.
Jigglypuff was also helping out the Ice Climbers with any Berserkers that came their way too.
Emma and Bayonetta were dealing with enemies that approached them. After a few seconds, the Umbra Witch could see just how capable she really was. "You fight well for a normal human!"
"Thanks!" Responded Emma as she defeated another enemy. "You're not too bad yourself!"
Finally, Matt and the Duck and Dog were forced together, but defended each other nonetheless.
"Thanks for the help! Glad to know you can fight!" Said Matt.
All the Duck and Dog could do was nod back in unison, which was good for the Oak Town Mayor.
"Everyone hold them here!" Shouted Chrom. "Don't let a single one get past us!"
The defenders held their own against the full force of the Lightspace Army, but they knew that something had to happen. Otherwise, their defeat would be nothing but inevitable.
