Hey guys! Hope you all had a great Halloween! Sorry about the long wait though! October really loves to take up a lot of my time, but I'm back now with a new chapter ready for you all to read!
Also, I know I updated the same chapter before, but apparently, there was a software problem after Halloween that posed a problem for not only me, but countless other creators. There was a bug that didn't let anyone see any updates after Halloween on desktop. Mobile wasn't an issue though. Hopefully this same problem won't happen again.
As for the story itself, we go back to the Battle of Hyrule where the war continues to rage on. What will happen in the fight ahead? Read on to find out! As always, don't forget to fave, follow, and review! Now without further ado, let's get into this new chapter!

Hyrule Kingdom, World of Trophies
The climactic battle against the Lightspace Army was still going strong on both fronts.
The strike team on the Fusion Cannon mothership was slowly but surely progressing their way through the swarms of Lightspace Army enemies that came their way.
Meanwhile, the ground defense team chose to initiate a head on charge against the opposing Light Berserkers. This was to increase their defense, and decrease the enemy numbers as quickly as possible.
On both teams, things looked like there was progress, but it wouldn't be for long.
Lightspace Mothership Hull, Above Hyrule Kingdom
On the large ship, the strike team was brought to a standstill due to the Light Primids and the ship's laser cannons. The team would have to do something drastic if it meant that they would advance toward the command deck.
In an act of desperation, Diddy Kong thought of an idea that he whispered to his partner Donkey Kong. In the heat of the moment, the larger primate made a beeline toward the nearest hull cannon. He grabbed it with his powerful bare hands, and forced it to point at the infantry opposition heading their way. The cannon unintentionally fired on its own forces, clearing an effective path to the command deck.
The rest of the team looked impressed at this level of thinking on the Kongs' part.
"Great plan, Kongs!" Said Snake. "It looks like we're gonna get to the bridge in no time!"
Just when he was about to lift the turret from its hull, something odd prevented him from doing so. A small device latched onto his chest which caused his body to course with painful electricity. After a few seconds of that, he fell limp onto the ground.
It didn't take a genius to figure who was responsible, as the culprit, The Elite Gunner Samuel, was standing before them with further reinforcements.
"You all will never move another centimeter as long as I stand!" Shouted the gunner. "This ship will become your graves!"
With that declaration, Samuel fired a barrage of concussive missiles that the strike team managed to defend and evade from. Despite the attempts to minimize damage, the group was brought back to a standstill as time was running out on the fusion cannon's charging.
"According to my calculations, we have only five minutes remaining!" Said Zelda over the intercom. "We need to make some headway!"
"Trust me!" Replied Meta Knight as he fought. "We're doing our best!"
Hyrule Castle Sanctum
Back in the Sanctum, Zelda was in charge of how the strike team was progressing. Palutena, who was there with the Hylian Princess, was barely able to maintain the barrier. It was tougher now with the damage it sustained earlier. Isabelle was also alongside Zelda, doing her best to help the princess and struggling goddess.
Meanwhile, Peach and King Dedede were in charge of overseeing the ground defense team as they fended off oncoming wave after wave of Berserker forces.
Hyrule Kingdom Southern Field
The fighters on the ground were giving it their all with defending the kingdom, but they were steadily getting overwhelmed.
Bayonetta and Bowser, arguably the two strongest defenders, were at the forefront of the fighters. They were in charge of minimizing the enemies coming through the barrier's hole. They did this with their Wicked Weaves and overwhelming strength respectively.
This defense soon fell as rapidly approaching Light Shurikens from Scarlet rapidly sped toward the Umbra Witch. This caught Bayonetta off guard when one of the sharp projectiles grazed her cheek, leaving a deep cut behind. The entire flurry attack from Scarlet forced her to evade at the cost of losing her Wicked Weave formation on the wall.
Soon, many Berserkers started to come through, forcing Bayonetta to get onto the defensive. Unfortunately, the enemies' claws were able to rip through her demonic protection like paper, effectively overwhelming her.
A moment later, Ridley came through the hole and forced Bowser, the other forefront defender, off the ground by lifting him up several meters high. The space pirate then slammed the Koopa King back down onto the ground, temporarily knocking him unconscious.
With the two most powerful defenders out of commission, the Berserkers overwhelmed the other fighters and stationed Hylian troops.
Ryu, Ken, Simon, and Richter were each pinned down by an enemy while Ridley closed in on a group consisting of Captain Falcon, Incineroar, Little Mac, Ike, and Robin.
However, the Radiant Hero soon took notice of a particular enemy swordswoman, the Elite Swordfighter Scarlet, approaching Corrin with hostile intent.
He ran from the protection Incineroar and Captain Falcon were making while changing his course towards the draconic hero.
Unfortunately, a wall of Berserkers was blocking his way. Drawing his sword, he managed to take out around five or six before being pinned down with drooling teeth hanging over his head.
Meanwhile, Scarlet was approaching Corrin, intrigued about her weapon. "I couldn't help but notice the uniqueness of your weapon. I'll enjoy taking it from your trophied body once I'm done with you."
"Whatever you say." Responded the female warrior as she got ready for battle.
After a few seconds, the elite swordfighter made the first move, swinging at the draconic warrior with a formidable amount of speed and strength.
Corrin was no pushover though, as she was able to evade or parry each blow, making the two sword wielders evenly matched. With this standstill, there was no victor unless someone were to do something extreme and decisive.
As for the rest of the fighters, most of them were ultimately overwhelmed as the Berserkers soon marched on to the outskirts of the castle town gates.
They managed to take down any soldiers and guardians that stood in their way, eventually making their way to the town walls.
Guardian turrets and skywatchers reduced some numbers, but the gate was almost at its limit.
"Oh no…." Said Peach. "They're going to breach the gate!"
The Berserkers pounded on the iron doors, leaving behind marks that could last only a few minutes at most. Citizens were fearing for their lives as they hid in their homes and shops, hoping that the enemy wouldn't find them.
Lightspace Mothership Hull
Back on the mothership, the strike team was still being pushed back by enemy forces led by Samuel as he continued to fire volleys of lasers, missiles, and grenades.
It was then that Amelia, the Inkling Agent 4, decided to do something the other fighters saw as reckless, but strangely tactical.
She pulled out a curling bomb and slid it across the battlefield, bouncing off against many Light Primids that came her way. The bomb left an ink trail as it exploded relatively close to an unsuspecting Samuel, temporarily blinding him in orange ink. "It's the ink from last time. But what's it doing here? I can't see!"
Fueled by her determination to help and avenge her friend Steven, she took advantage of the window provided and went into the ink trail in her squid form. She then followed it to its end destination where the gunner was.
Once she was out, she fully realized what she had to do. She jumped out of the residual ink caused by the explosion. Transforming from her squid to humanoid form, she tackled the gunner onto the very edge of the ship. The sheer force of the tackle soon pushed them both overboard, leaving both of them to fall to the ground below.
"-Amelia!-" Shouted Diddy Kong as he saw what was happening.
"I'll get her!" Said Bowser Jr. as he rapidly flew toward where they were.
The force of the wind from the fall steadily removed the ink from Samuel's goggles. Once the gunner opened them, he could see the vengeful ridden eyes of Amelia.
Samuel was a bit afraid, but he remained cool. "What do you think you're doing, squid girl?"
Fueled by determination, she gave her answer. "I'm taking you down for good! For Steven!"
"That'll have to wait." Responded the gunner smugly.
He then activated his jetpack again while lining up his cannon to blast the unsuspecting Inkling point-blank. Realizing the charging the cannon made, she was caught off guard. "No!"
The resulting blast rendered her unconscious, leaving her to plummet to the ground below in a trail of smoke.
It was then that Bowser Jr. was able to catch her just in time, bringing her inside the Koopa Clown Copter.
As Amelia regained consciousness, she could see her unlikely savior. "You… saved me? But I was… told you were an enemy…"
"Clearly not the time, blooper girl!" Responded the Koopa hastily. "Now come on! You wanna take him down right?"
All Agent 4 needed to respond with was a determined nod with a smirk indicating resolve.
With that indication, Bowser Jr. took the copter back up to the same altitude level as the awaiting Samuel.
"You trophies just don't know when to give up!" Shouted the gunner over the sounds of the battle raging on the hull. "When I'm done here, I'll take care of your Inkling friend back on the World of Light! You two will be reunited under Galeem's control!"
Amelia started to cock up her hero shot as Bowser Jr. pulled out some side cannons he had in the copter.
The Koopaling made the first move. He fired homing bullet bills at the gunner, only to find that the gunner was more nimble than they anticipated, easily dodging the projectiles. This made the gunner difficult to beat.
Amelia then threw a barrage of splat bombs in an attempt to slow him down. Some hit, but they didn't have much effect. "You'll have to do better than that!"
He then fired homing missiles from his hand cannon at the copter.
"What are we gonna do?" Asked Amelia panickingly.
Bowser Jr. was pulling up a feature on his copter dashboard before a button came up. "Don't worry. I got this!"
The clown car's mouth then came open as flares in every direction came out, causing the missiles to hit them instead, making explosions that were out of range of the koopa and inkling.
Once he got a good look at them, Samuel was slightly disappointed, but it didn't faze him too much. "I admit, both of you are challenging to deal with, but sheer luck won't save you for much longer!"
Hyrule Kingdom Southern Field
Back on the ground, Ness was pinned down on his back by a Berserker as he raised his baseball bat for protection. Unfortunately, the enemy's strong teeth were chewing through the bat, and it was only a matter of time before it gave way. He soon thought of an idea. He gathered enough strength to push the enemy away from him for a few seconds.
Fortunately for him, that was more than enough time to use an attack. "PK Flash!"
A concentrated cloud of green PSI energy soon gravitated toward the approaching enemy. Once it reached him, it effectively obliterated the creature, leaving nothing but dust in its wake.
As Ness was about to recover, he had his arms grabbed by two more Berserkers, rendering him unable to use his PSI or natural skill to escape. However, he was able to give a close Pichu a chance to escape.
In another area of the battle, Incineroar was knocked down and pinned by Berserkers like the others but not before allowing Captain Falcon, Little Mac, and Robin to retreat back to the southern gate.
Meanwhile, Matt was getting ready to fire a slingshot with Jigglypuff and the Duck and Dog duo at his side. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before Ridley and the berserkers soon surrounded them. Closing in on their prey.
Coming up with an idea, the Oak Town Mayor decided to come up with a distraction. In the blink of an eye, he decided to surround himself with seeds and spray them with a watering can. Before the enemies knew it, they couldn't see the fighters with trees blocking their line of sight. However, Ridley was able to look up as Matt, Jigglypuff, and the Duck and Dog were using balloons, their own body, and the duck's wings respectively to flee back to the gate.
Ridley attempted to fly after them, but Matt was prepared for this. He threw a live firework back at the space pirate. Once it touched his body, it created a spectacular explosion as it brought Ridley back down to the ground, temporarily stunned.
Meanwhile, Captain Falcon, along with Little Mac and Robin, were running as fast as they could back to the gate to prevent any more enemies from coming into the town.
It was then that the captain turned on his helmet communicator once more. "We're getting overrun, Zelda! We need to fall back! Open the gate ever so slightly so we can get through, but the enemy can't!"
Hyrule Castle Sanctum
The princess read the message loud and clear. "I hear you Captain." The Hylian then switched to another frequency that allowed her to communicate with the ground defense team. "This is Princess Zelda. The southern field has fallen! All capable ground fighters retreat to the gate! We will hold off any more from getting into the town!"
She then turned her head toward King Dedede and Isabelle. "Go help them. We need to better fortify our defense."
Isabelle was more than happy to help her allies. Especially if it involved Matt.
As for Dedede, he obliged with Zelda's order. Albeit reluctantly, considering his preference not to fight.
Hyrule Castle Town Southern Gate
The remaining ground defense fighters and Hylian soldiers had made it to the gate to prepare for the second wave. The fighters that made it included Captain Falcon, Little Mac, Robin, Matt, The Ice Climbers, Jigglypuff, The Duck and Dog, Pichu, and Emma the fitness trainer.
Additionally, there were multiple guardian turrets and skywatchers that covered the fighters' escape to the other side. As of now, they were barely containing the Berserkers that attempted to breach the gate.
King Dedede and Isabelle soon joined up with them.
The Oak Town Secretary gave a brief but warming hug at Matt for him being okay. "Matt!" Said Isabelle ecstatically as she rubbed her face onto his. "I'm so happy you're okay!"
"Let's save the reunion until after this battle's over Isabelle!" Responded the Mayor.
Isabelle, seeing the situation, kept her emotions in check. She then stood by the mayor instead and brought out her slingshot. "Understood. Ready to roll, Mr. Mayor!"
A moment later, the King of Dream Land stood by the other formidable warriors.
"Glad you could make it, Dedede." Said the Captain in a slightly sarcastic tone.
The king simply scoffed as a result. "I'm here now captain. Let's just defend this gate."
The gate doors looked like they could break through any second. Regardless of when it broke though, the fighters were ready to face what was coming on the other side.
Lightspace Mothership Hull
The strike team was making further headway, almost reaching the command deck on the other side. Unfortunately, they were running out of time. There was less than two minutes before the fusion cannon fired on the barrier.
"Keep moving!" Said Snake as he was pushing through enemy forces. "If that barrier falls we all lose!"
Diddy Kong was at his larger partner's side, trying to wake him up after detaching Samuel's device from his chest. "-Come on partner! You're Donkey Kong! You've survived crazier stuff than this!-"
After a moment of readjusting himself, the groggy primate finally woke up and got back on his feet, overjoying his smaller partner.
"-You're back!-" Shouted Diddy Kong. "-The gunner's busy so let's get moving!-"
Before they could make another inch though, something big landed on the ground and stood in their way. An all too familiar obese reptilian figure. "You aren't going anywhere, Kong. You and I still have unfinished business!"
With one powerful swing of his leg, he punted Diddy all the way back on the other side of the hull where they first landed. Fortunately, that was where Luigi, Daisy, and Pac-Man were.
The floral princess was the first to get to the unconscious primate as he tried to get him on his back. "Diddy! Come on! Stay with me buddy!"
The primate was barely awake from the blow that K Rool dealt him, but he was far from an ideal condition to fight. "-Please… Don't let them win…"
Meanwhile, Luigi and Pac-Man were defending the princess from the Light Primid armies coming their way. However, no matter how much there were, more kept on coming.
"There's-a no end to them!" Shouted Luigi as he turned on the maximum setting on his Poltergust vacuum. Once he had enough inside, he ejected them at full velocity toward any new approaching enemies. He even managed to topple a Light Golem that Wario was able to finish off with less than savory results.
Back near the command deck, Donkey Kong was quickly recovering from the paralysis device Samuel planted on him, only to find himself in a confrontation against his old enemy King K Rool.
The reptile was the first to declare his intentions. "You and me, Kong. It's time we settle this rivalry once and for all!"
"-Sure thing, K Rool! I'll look forward to slamming that ugly face of yours!-" Responded a determined DK as he was charging up a powerful punch.
The crocodile was proceeding to charge a move of his own by strapping a boxing glove to his hand.
Once the two attacks were charged enough after around five seconds, the resulting collision produced a dramatic shockwave that knocked back any fighters and enemies within its blast zone.
Unfortunately, some fighters, including Snake, Wario, Yoshi, the Ice Climbers, Roy, and Olimar, inadvertently got caught in the blast zone, getting further pushed back towards the Halberd troop transport and away from the command deck. This temporarily incapacitated them as they were each overwhelmed by Light Primids, Light Golems, and Lightspace Knights.
However, there were still a few fighters that managed to avoid the blast and clear their way through the ever coming onslaught of enemies.
These fighters were Meta Knight, Marth, Lucina, Cloud and Greninja. This was when they got a transmission from Zelda. "For any fighters left on the strike team! This is your last chance! We don't have much time! Only one minute left before that blast destroys the barrier!"
All the fighters aboard felt some mechanical rumbling coming from the bottom of the ship. This was bad news to them because it meant the fusion cannon was beginning to charge its fire on the dome.
Dark Pit, knowing full well the potential destruction of the cannon, was able to confirm the opening cannon as he flew under the ship. "The cannon's beginning to charge up!"
It was then that the dark angel realized the remainder of the strike team needed more support. He decided to fly back above the ship and land on the hull along with Meta Knight and the others.
Fox decided to follow suit and hit the ejector seat button on his Arwing. Once he was over the command bridge, he opened his cockpit and landed alongside the other fighters, ready to lend his aid.
The seven remaining fighters gave it everything they could at the command deck's windows. Unfortunately, they were unable to put so much as a scratch on it. Even with all the weapons and power at their disposal. This was due to a barrier on the bridge that could only be deactivated by someone inside.
Samuel, who was still occupied with fighting Bowser Jr. and Amelia, noticed the effort the remaining fighters were putting into breaking the command deck shields. Because of this, he used one of his openings during the fight to call on his aerial underlings. "Bombard the hull!"
With this order, all active Aerial Primids soon rose into the air and pulled out grenade launchers.
The Primids soon flew over the entirety of the hull and released their grenades, creating white explosions that could incapacitate everyone who was on top of the ship, fighters and Sheikah members included.
Snake was the first one to notice the incoming attack before giving out a warning. "Everyone get down!"
However, this didn't help in avoiding the attack. The stealth operative, along with the other fighters and Sheikah members, were ultimately caught in the blanket of grenade explosions across the hull.
The only ones who weren't affected were the ones closest to the command deck. Fox and Dark Pit were able to respectively use their reflector and guardian orbitars to stave off the bombardment. However, by then it was too late. The fusion cannon had reached full power.
"You've all lost!" Shouted Samuel as Amelia and Bowser Jr. looked at the powering cannon in horror. "This is one step closer to my master's ultimate victory!"
The fighters who were on the hull were either knocked out or hopelessly struggling to break through the command deck.
The fusion cannon began to charge its fire once more. Dark Pit knew all too well what was going to happen next. "No…Not again…"
Zelda was seeing the cannon pointed in their direction while Peach was worried about Palutena. "We tried, but in the end, we couldn't win… I thought we had a shot… but my vision… came true in the end…" Said Zelda as she was on the verge of giving up the fight.
The fighters on the ground saw the blast coming as they braced themselves for what was about to happen. Jigglypuff, Pichu, and Ness hugged each other in anticipation.
Isabelle also instinctively grabbed Matt's hand out of worry and comfort. To her expectation, the mayor accepted the hand and grabbed Isabelle's even tighter.
As for Corrin and her duel with Scarlet in the battlefield, they were both still in a deadlock. The fusion cannon preparation caught the attention of the draconic warrior and put her into a state of worry. "Fear not." Said the Elite Swordfighter with utter confidence. "You will live to serve my master after this is over!"
Soon enough, the fusion cannon fired. The resulting blast hit the dome with more than enough force to create a massive shockwave. It spread all throughout the dome, utterly destroying it and the fields just around the barrier for a 100 meter radius. The kingdom itself was unharmed with the barrier taking the major brunt of the impact. Unfortunately, the loss of the barrier left the castle and town completely vulnerable.
As for Palutena, she was completely knocked out from the blast. Peach tried to help her back up, but was unable to, indicating the seriousness of the situation the Goddess of Light was in.
Zelda was left in utter shock and defeat. "This is it. We've lost… All that planning… All that effort… it proved to be futile in the end."
Hyrule Castle Southern Gate
Behind the gate, the remaining fighters and soldiers could see the pieces of the barrier falling like shards of glass disintegrating in the air.
To add more problems to the situation, the Berserkers were close to breaking down the iron gate doors. All fighters there were at the ready with Captain Falcon leading the defense. "We may have lost the barrier my friends, but we won't let them get to the sanctum! And if we die, we die fighting!" The remaining fighters heeded Captain Falcon's word, all standing by for the onslaught close to breaking through the gate.
The doors were about to give way. Realizing that this situation was a do or die battle, the captain unsurprisingly decided that he would proudly sacrifice himself to protect his friends. "Now you monsters… Show me your moves!"
The gate then broke through, releasing a tidal wave of Berserkers that came their way. The fighters and soldiers all responded with a charge of their own. However, just when they were within ten meters of the fighters, the most unexpected thing happened.
Out of nowhere, a brand new pillar of golden white light appeared in between the fighters and enemies, immediately stopping both sides from charging any further. It was blindingly bright, but the Captain, with the assistance of his shaded helmet, was able to see six faint figures through the gleaming. He saw some that looked familiar and others that didn't. However, that didn't stop him from losing hope. On the contrary, he could see just how the situation could change for the better.
Multiple powerful rings of pure golden energy came out of the pillar. They surprisingly cut swaths through the Berserkers and mowed them down like they were grass in a yard. This action came as a surprise to everyone on the side of the Kingdom. Fighters and soldiers included.
Scarlet could see what was happening at the gate, much to her surprise and anger, from where she was. "That's impossible! That can't be happening! Where did they get that power from?"
Corrin used her opponent's distraction to deliver a crushing blow to the Lightspace Army Elite Swordfighter. She managed to get a good slash in on her shoulder and chest, significantly limiting her mobility. Realizing she had no way of winning, she retreated back to the enemy lines using a teleportation device she had on her. "This is not over!"
Hyrule Kingdom Southern Gate
The pillar of light soon faded away to reveal six fighters some of the defenders recognized almost right away.
However, the remaining Hylian soldiers seemed overjoyed at the appearance of the young figure in the middle wielding a powerful sword. Undoubtedly the source of the divine power. They all cheered for him as if he was their one true savior. "It's a miracle! The hero has returned! Link is back!"
The Hero of the Wilds was indeed back. However, something looked different about him. His eyes glowed golden white as the Master Sword emanated unbelievable power unlike anything ever seen before. Finally, his face was one of utter determination, resolve, and courage, more than ready to vanquish the enemies that came his way.
Zelda could see Link through the feed the camera on the gate provided them. At a closer look, she could see the determination he had. "So... this is this Hyrule's Link. He's certainly more dramatic than the books about him say."
Regardless, this new development gave the princess indescribable hope. It also put her back in the fighting spirit. Because of this, she pulled out her communicator once more. "We may have lost one advantage, but haven't lost battle yet! Keep fighting everyone!"
Along with Link was Kirby, Sheik, Pit, Shulk, and a younger Link, all ready to lend the hero their help in the battle ahead.
Sheik, Shulk, and Young Link ran with the Hylia powered Link toward the oncoming enemy, ready to deal major damage. As they all ran, Link gave out a war cry that inspired everyone to follow him into the battle.
As for Kirby and Pit, they took to the skies, making a straight path to the Lightspace mothership.
Before leaving though, Kirby took a good look at Dedede, recognizing him immediately.
The King of Dream Land was happy at the reunion, but realized the bad timing of it happening. "What're you looking at me like that for? Fight the enemy!"
Kirby obliged and gave the King a quick nod before taking off with Pit on his Warpstar towards the Lightspace Mothership.
Moved by the efforts the new arrivals made, Captain Falcon got back up on his feet and looked back at the other fighters. "Don't just stand there everyone! They need our help! Now come on!"
The Captain, along with any remaining fighters stationed behind the gate, decided to run back out onto the battlefield, ready to free their friends from the Berserkers' grasp. Isabelle and King Dedede decided to join them out of trust for friends and glory from fighting respectively.
With these new arrivals turning the tide of the battle, the defenders and enemies both knew that this fight was far from over.
