Hey guys! I'm back again with another chapter for this fic! I promised I would upload more in 2021 and I feel like I'm just getting started!
We are at the point in the story where the fighters finally reach their objectives with Galeem and the power plant. What battles will await them? And more importantly, will they win? All you have to do is read on and stay tuned!

Lightspace Power Plant, World of Light
The power plant team, consisting of R.O.B., Lucas, Red, and Wolf, made their way just outside the guarded facility.
The plant itself was embedded within a cliff. This was assumedly so that it would be well hidden from any potential intruders.
After taking out the Light Primids and turrets stationed at the only main entrance, the fighters found themselves unable to get through the closed double doors. This was due to them being plated with reinforced steel.
It was then that Red, the Kanto born Pokemon Trainer, thought of an idea. "You all might want to stand back. If this is steel, then I've got just the thing for this door."
He then threw out one of his Pokeballs to reveal his Charizard, looking anxious to get some damage in.
"Alright, Charizard." Asked Red. "Blast open that door for us. Use Flamethrower!"
Without any hesitation, Charizard started spewing a stream of blazing fire from its mouth.
Wolf was having some second thoughts about this plan as he knelt down to Lucas's level. "Are you sure this is a good idea? It might take a while. We might get noticed."
"It's fine." Replied Lucas. "I know Red long enough to where he knows what he's doing."
After a few more moments, the steel door began to glow orange and eventually melt, revealing a hole that got bigger by the second.
After fifteen seconds, it became wide enough for a normal person to fit through with ease.
The four fighters all jumped through the melted hole with no problem. However, they soon found themselves in a large tunnel with ominous artificial lights lining the way every three meters.
"I guess we go forward then?" Asked Wolf.
After running some diagnostics on his systems, as well as studying the facility's schematics, R.O.B. determined a route that led them straight to the conduit. "I have a route that will no doubt lead us to the conduit. Just follow me."
The other three fighters obliged as they followed the robot through the hallway.
Wolf was showing a little hesitation, but remained confident in stopping Galeem. "Here's hoping you're right."
Lightspace Fortress Command Chamber, World of Light
The distraction group, consisting of Mario, Sonic, Samus, Pikachu, Rosalina, Mewtwo, Falco, and Lucario, all finally made it to Galeem's command chamber, where the Lord of Light stood before them. "I was expecting all of you to come. I just had to bide my time with my remaining underlings."
Mario was the first one to speak. "It's-a over Galeem!"
Samus then took her turn. "Your reign ends right here and now!"
The Lord of Light started to slowly walk toward the group. This motion prompted every fighter to prepare for battle.
"I am well aware the rest of your group is infiltrating my power plant." Revealed Galeem. "Because you won't leave here with your lives intact, I should let you know they're walking into a trap."
Shock came over some fighters as they realized what they had walked into. However, some fighters remained firm due to the trust they placed in their comrades.
"That remains to be seen, Galeem." Said Falco. "I know them and I'd think twice if your trap actually works."
The Lord of Light scoffed at the pilot's remark. "As I suspected, Falco Lombardi. You're nothing but a blind and ignorant fool. Not that the rest of you are much better."
Galeem took a few more slow steps. "You all came here to defeat me. Primarily to end the so-called threat I posed to your world among others. Although, I see myself as a savior."
This got Samus inquisitive, but remained hostile. "And what exactly are you trying to save this world from?"
"The discord and impurity this universe constantly venerates." Responded the ruler. "It is like a plague and I will soon wipe it out. Imagine it. A universe rebuilt without war. Nothing but peace from my will. Think of a world where I can control everything I wish with a thought. Free from conflict. Free from war. Free from chaos."
Scowls were soon embedded in some more fighters. Especially Mario, Sonic, Falco, Samus, and Mewtwo.
"But not free from you." Blurted Lucario.
"It needs me, Lucario. The power I shall soon wield will allow me to achieve my ultimate goal." Declared the Lord of Light. "Eternal rule, absolute power, immortality, and me at the peaceful center of it all. The universe will forever bend to my will. And soon, so will all of you."
Falco was the first one to snap. "Enough talk! Let's finish this!"
With that declaration of attack, all fighters rushed toward Galeem, only for the Lord of Light to form a light vortex all around them. "Let's take this to where we cannot destroy my creations."
The vortex became so bright it blinded them. Right to the point where they couldn't even see one another. Then, it dissipated until there was nothing left. Once it completely faded away, neither the fighters, nor Galeem, were present in the chamber. All that was left was the remaining wind and silence.
Lightspace Power Plant
The four fighters finally made it to the power plant's conduit room. What laid before them was a futuristic generator around 30 feet in height and 20 feet in width. It looked to be running the power to not only the facility, but also the fortress as well through underground wiring.
"Let's get to deactivating the conduit before we get any more surprises." Said Wolf with a bit of worry. "Robot, do your thing."
"Affirmative." Responded R.O.B.
However, before he could move another inch, a huge door from the left side of the room began to open up.
"You just had to say it Wolf." Remarked Red.
They then heard slowly clanging thuds that were slowly getting louder.
The rhythmic clunking was getting closer as a large faint figure could be seen beyond the door. Once the figure passed through the opening and came into the light, Lucas and Red felt their hearts drop.
"You have got to be joking…" Uttered Red with disbelief.
"This can't be happening! We destroyed you!" Shouted Lucas.
Wolf and R.O.B. Then got a good look at the large figure. It looked to be just as big as the generator, as well as armed to the teeth in mechanical weaponry. It was silver and purple in design. The war machine also sported shoulder missiles and a mask-like horn over its face.
"Mind telling me what that thing is, robot?" Asked Wolf in a panic.
R.O.B. was quick to answer because of the experience he had before with this particular threat. "This behemoth we see now is known as Galleom. It was once part of the Subspace Army until it was defeated by Lucas and Red. It is most likely Galeem built a replacement with the old Subspace Army blueprints."
Once Galleom saw his four targets. He started to simultaneously slam his fists down onto the ground. Fortunately, Lucas and Red were able to get out of the way in time. For Wolf and R.O.B., they were both too out of range to be caught in the attack.
"What do we do R.O.B.?" Asked Wolf worriedly.
The robot was able to come up with a solution almost immediately. "Our most logical solution is to fight. Keep him occupied while I work on deactivating the conduit!"
"Agreed." Chimed Red. "We defeated this thing once!"
Lucas was inspired by Red's unwavering dedication. "Yeah! Let's destroy this robot! For everyone in the fortress to have a fighting chance!"
The three fighters then rushed once more to attack Galleom again, more than ready to give the robot everything they've got.
Several Miles above the World of Light's Surface
Mario, Samus, Pikachu, and the others all found themselves transported to a circular platform hovering several miles above the World of Light's surface.
The platform itself looked to be made of some type of silver stone. It had a 100 foot diameter, along with the inner layer having a white and gold Master Core emblem in the center. Lastly, the outer layers had digital streams trickling outward with intermittent surges of light blue and gold.
Lucario was the first one to come to. "Is everyone okay?"
Sonic felt a little queasy but soon got over it. "Yeah…That hunted food I had isn't sitting well..."
Mario then got up and soon noticed the view around them. The sky was a crisp light blue with several clouds surrounding them. "I think-a we're above the surface."
"Indeed you are, Mario." Shouted Galeem's disembodied voice. "I've waited a long time for this."
Mewtwo was getting even more furious. "Show yourself Galeem!"
"Ah Mewtwo. I once gave you an offer to join me, only for you to betray me. Today however, I renew that offer. Join my side again, and live a life you always wanted. No trainers, no control for you ever again."
"You're wrong, Galeem." Replied the psychic immediately. "I already have the life I want. Red and Lucas made sure about that."
Galeem decided to test him once more. "Is that your final answer?"
Mewtwo remained more firm than ever. "I don't need anything from you."
Galeem remained silent before saying one last thing. "...So be it."
A bright portal soon appeared in front of the group with Galeem's human form walking out of it. "Do you want to know where I took you?"
"Do intrigue us." Said Sonic sarcastically.
The Lord of Light proceeded to explain. "I built this platform as a staging ground for enacting my ultimate victory. However, I had to give it another purpose once you all came uninvited. Right now, this place will serve as your last stand."
The fighters each struck a battle pose. Meanwhile Galeem's wings shot off as his body turned into a ball of light. The wings soon surrounded the ball as he rose up into the air, more than ready to deal devastating damage against his enemies.
"Welcome to your final destination!" Declared Galeem.
Lightspace Power Plant Interior
R.O.B. was continuing to bypass circuit after circuit, but the process proved to be tedious. This was the least of their worries though.
Galleom made his presence known to Lucas, Red, and Wolf, who were all struggling to land a decent hit against the robot.
The mechanical behemoth converted into his tank mode in an attempt to run the three fighters down. Lucas used PK Thunder to propel himself away from the destructive path while Red used his Charizard to carry himself and Wolf above the tank.
This proved to be an effective move as Wolf thought of an idea. "Drop me right on him. I can deal some major damage if I can get on that thing."
Red obliged with the Star Wolf leader's plan and let Charizard drop him right above the robot. Lucas was able to get a good view of this too.
As Wolf landed on the robot, he shouted one last thing before he started to attack. "Keep this thing distracted!"
With that order, Lucas started using PK Freezes and PK Thunders on Galleom's joints to break them off. However, all that they were doing was nothing more than minor scratches.
The same could be said about Charizard's Flamethrowers and Fire Blasts.
"He's obviously been upgraded." Said Lucas. "Last time we faced this thing, its arm broke off from a single PK Thunder."
"Let's have faith in Wolf." Replied Red. "If his attacks don't work, I've got a move that can deal some major damage against him."
Meanwhile, Wolf was hanging on top of Galleom, more than ready to deal damage. He found some open circuits on the back and decided to let loose on them with his claws and blaster.
From Wolf's perspective, it seemed like enough damage was done. Because of that, he jumped off of the robot and back to where Lucas and Red were. "Now Red, do your thing!"
Red took out all three of his pokeballs and threw them in front of him. This revealed not only his Charizard, but also his Squirtle and Ivysaur.
With all of his Pokemon in position, all Red had to do now was give out the order. "Now, use Triple Finish!"
Almost on cue, Squirtle used a concentrated water stream. This was augmented by a solar beam from Ivysaur's back. Finally Charizard used fire blasts to further solidify the offensive power the unique move possessed.
This attack landed a direct hit on Galleom, creating a ton of smoke and steam. This blinded the fighters' view for only a few brief moments.
The smoke and steam soon faded to reveal a white hexagonal barrier that Galleom conjured from his core reactor.
This rendered the Triple Finish ineffective. Galleom was left without a barrier, but was still unharmed.
"Now what?" Said Wolf.
"We still fight." Responded Lucas. "With every last breath."
As they were ready to deal another round of attacks, the roof above them started to open up.
This prompted the three fighters, along with R.O.B., to look up at what was above them. As the ceiling was opening, a Lightspace transport ship was descending through.
Red realized what this meant. "If that's what I think it is, we're already too late."
Wolf realized R.O.B.'s process was at risk. "How're you coming on deactivating the conduit?"
"Almost done, but with the creature already here, there is not much time left." Replied the robot.
As the ship touched down toward the conduit, its bottom compartment revealed the restrained Great Zapfish.
The three fighters tried to make for the ship, but Galleom was keeping the path inaccessible.
"R.O.B.! We can't get through! Help!" Shouted Wolf.
Unfortunately, the robot had his hands full with his own troubles. "I am currently occupied right now! I cannot do much! If I break away from the terminal to attack, all the circuits will repair themselves immediately. Additionally, this entire software and facility will go into lockdown!"
This got the fighters more frustrated. After that fleeting frustration though, they realized there was not much that the other fighters could do. Lucas and Wolf realized they couldn't do much damage in the time they had left. As for Red, he still had some tricks up his sleeve, but realized he couldn't pull them off in the short time he had.
R.O.B. still continued to work on deactivating the conduit, but with the Great Zapfish hanging overhead, the robot knew he had very little time left. Despite this, he never gave up, expecting some miracle to happen.
Then, all of a sudden, one of the ship's engine sides exploded without any warning. This sent the craft flying into a nearby wall, not far from where Galleom and the other fighters were.
The ship kept the Great Zapfish from getting harmed. This was before its restraints were suddenly released.
Unfortunately, the powerful creature was too exhausted to move anywhere beyond a few meters from the craft.
From the ship's fire though, three figures came from the wreckage as they readied their weapons for the fight before them.
One looked to be almost robotic with a predominantly blue color scheme. Another was equipped in tactical gear and looked almost squid-like in appearance. Finally, the last fighter was a blond haired and pointy eared adolescent who wielded a special blade and shield.
Each one of these new fighters definitely looked like they had seen battles in their past. They stood up at the robot looming over the others and decided to help them out.
As they got close to the other new fighters, Lucas decided to break the silence. "Who are you guys?"
"Don't worry about that for now." Said the blue robot. "We're here to help you."
That was the reassurance Lucas, Red, and Wolf needed.
With the addition of these new fighters, along with buying R.O.B. more time, Lucas, Red, and Wolf knew that the tide of the battle had finally turned.
"Light him up!" Shouted Samus as she fired an onslaught of charge shots at Galeem.
Mario, Mewtwo, Pikachu, Lucario, and Falco followed with their own projectiles.
The combined effort was doing nothing but minimal damage against the Lord of Light, which meant that the fighters had to come up with another, more effective plan.
Sonic started to surround Galeem until he was confused by how fast he was going. Little did the hedgehog know, the light being was able to keep up with his speed. With pinpoint accuracy, he fired a shot that hit the blue blur in the leg, knocking him down.
Mario came to Sonic's aid while it was Samus's turn to strike once more.
Pikachu and Rosalina decided to join the bounty hunter as they ran toward the Lord of Light.
This was when a diamond-like chain emerged from the ball of light, attaching itself onto Samus. Once it was secured on, it immediately went taut and threw the bounty hunter at Lucario and Mewtwo.
Luckily, the psychic was fast enough to catch Samus and get her back on her feet for the time being.
Pikachu was delivering thunderbolts and electro balls, but Galeem retaliated by detaching its surrounding wings and made one of them aim for the mouse Pokemon.
Samus, Lucario, and Mewtwo tried to stop him, but Galeem's other wings were aiming for them too.
Realizing no other choice, Mario decided to bust out a new move. "I've-a practiced this for a while now. If I cannot-a use it-a now, when can I?"
The plumber's eyes suddenly turned fiery red as his hands burst with flames. Galeem notices this development too late. With the wings occupied against the other fighters, his core ball was all that remained.
Mario let loose two massive fireballs, one from each hand, that were both dead set on dealing major damage against Galeem. After a few more seconds, they both hit their mark.
This major attack caused Galeem to fall back down to the ground as he converted into his humanoid form. He landed on his feet as he slowly stood back up. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like any burn marks were present on his body.
"You're all more powerful than you claim." Declared the Lord of Light. "It doesn't matter. Soon I'll be powerful enough to where your pitiful attacks won't even faze me."
As soon as he tried to walk though, he found himself unable to move his legs. He soon saw that Mewtwo was stretching out his hands, forcing Galeem's legs in place.
"Now Samus!" Shouted Lucario.
As soon as Galeem stretched out his right hand to form another attack, Samus used her arm cannon grapple to restrain it from behind.
He attempted to use another attack with his remaining arm, but it was being held in place by Mario, whose strength was nothing to laugh at.
"He's in position! Do it now!" Declared Falco.
It was then that Rosalina revealed herself and her Lumas all surrounding Galeem like they did with Ridley back in the Comet Observatory.
"I have Lumas surrounding you for twenty-five feet in every direction!" Shouted the cosmic princess. "You're done Galeem! Lumas, fire your star bits!"
With that order, all of Rosalina's remaining Lumas fired powerful celestial projectiles at the Lord of Light. Before they all hit their mark though, Galeem gave a smirk that unnerved the fighters that noticed it.
The second before the bits all hit their target, the Lord of Light suddenly disappeared from view with a flash.
Everyone was confused as to what happened. Some fighters, such as Mario, Samus, and Falco grew frustrated.
"Where'd he go?" Said Falco as his anger grew. "Where did he go?"
Then, out of nowhere, a flash of light materialized behind Rosalina in a split second. This caught the princess off guard as she frantically turned around.
Once she faced what was behind her, she was met with a blast to her abdomen. The sheer force of the blast knocked her unconscious as it sent her flying across the platform and plummeting back to the surface. The Lumas took notice of this as they all made a break for their mother figure.
"Rosalina!" Screamed Mario in a fit of shock and anger.
"'I'll help her!" Said Mewtwo. "The rest of you focus on stopping Galeem!"
With that said, the psychic type flew down to where Rosalina fell in an attempt to catch her before she hit the ground.
The rest of the fighters saw that the blast came from a rematerialized Galeem's right fist. They could tell from the smoking right hand and the residual energy that came from it.
"You'll pay for-a hurting my friend!" Shouted Mario.
The plumber led the charge consisting of the remaining able fighters. However, before they could do anything, the Lord of Light conjured a sun behind him. This sun was two meters in diameter and growing by the second.
Once it was ten meters, the fighters stopped in their tracks. They soon realized the best way to survive the incoming attack was to evade.
"Feel the full force of my overwhelming power!" Declared Galeem.
Lucario was the first one to say something before everything broke loose. "Everyone get down!"
Galeem unleashed the full power of his sun. Dozens of harmful beams rained down on the platform, forcing everyone to take evasive and defensive action. Mario, Pikachu, Samus and Sonic were able to avoid the incoming beams, but Falco and Lucario weren't so lucky. The beams from the sun knocked both of them unconscious, as they were left with potentially serious burn marks.
With this devastating attack from Galeem, the remaining fighters knew this was going to be a difficult fight. Possibly the toughest battle of their lives.
