Hey guys! I'm back with a new chapter! You may have been wondering about the status of the fighters in the power plant ever since the last chapter, but I'm bringing out a new chapter this week to clear that up right away. What will happen to them? Read on to find out!

Lightspace Power Plant, World of Light
With the timely arrival of Mega Man, Toon Link, and Steven the Inkling, the team set to deactivate the power plant was even more confident in winning the battle.
More specifically, they were more sure to win against Galleom, the mechanical behemoth that once gave the present Lucas and Red a hard time during the Subspace War.
Alongside Lucas, Red, and the unlikely reinforcements, Wolf O'Donnell was still in the fight while R.O.B. was still working to deactivate the power plant.
Right now, the team's goal was to prevent Galleom from getting to R.O.B. Otherwise, all would be lost.
Mega Man started the newly reinforced attack by firing a cluster of crash bombs at the massive robot. This only served to stagger the behemoth. This was when Lucas formulated a plan. "Go for its core and head! Enough pressure on those two areas will bring it down!"
The others nodded at the PSI Wielder's input and followed through with attacks on their own. Lucas himself also used a few PK Thunders on its legs in order to keep it standing still.
Meanwhile, Wolf, Toon Link, and Mega Man started to fire their charged projectiles at the core, making the massive enemy flinch. Red's Ivysaur decided to reinforce them by unleashing a devastating solar beam. This combined attack served to knock Galleom back a bit away from R.O.B., but the machine was about to get ready for another attack.
The metal behemoth slammed its fists on the ground again, prompting the fighters to move out of the way. However, Red was too slow to escape the blast radius. Just in time though, his Charizard managed to pick him up and carry the trainer up to Galleom's eye level.
With this course of action, the raging machine decided to activate its targeting system. It then unleashed a barrage of explosive homing missiles directed at not only Red, but also the fighters situated on the ground.
Unlike the powerful shockwaves of the fists, the missiles were more easily avoidable due to the speed and reflexes of the fighters.
One stray missile was headed for R.O.B., but it was destroyed by a timely PK Fire from Lucas.
Agent 3 decided to use a special move he had been saving since the fight started. More specifically, he had a splat bomb launcher that served to repeatedly throw at least a dozen splat bombs. It was useful in the Inkling's own turf wars, but he had no idea how it would work here. Because of this, the best course of action for him would be to go for Galleom's face in an attempt to blind the machine.
He activated the launcher from afar while Lucas, Wolf, Toon Link, Mega Man, and Red's Pokemon were keeping Galleom busy. When the time was right for him, he launched several splat bombs that all managed to land on the powerful machine. A few got on its chest, but some more successfully landed right on the eyes, successfully blocking its sight.
Steven looked in success as his plan worked. "Yes!"
Toon Link decided to spare some encouragement toward his new comrade. "Good thinking, Steven! Let's finish this!"
This caused Galleom to temporarily lose its targeting system, but in an attempt to keep the other fighters at bay, he spun his upper torso around at a ridiculous speed like a helicopter rotor. This motion, along with the powerful wind from it, successfully knocked back Wolf, Red's Pokemon, Lucas, and Steven. However, Mega Man and Toon Link weren't out of the zone just yet due to the gutsy strength and iron boots both of them respectively had.
For any small debris that was flung their way, Mega Man conjured a leaf shield that kept on replenishing itself with each leaf lost. As for Toon Link, he had his trusty shield that served to defend most of his body. He knew though that it wouldn't hold out forever.
Galleom eventually stopped spinning after a few more seconds. The imposing robot could see that every fighter, except for Mega Man and Toon Link, was knocked back to where the R.O.B. and the conduit were.
With its targeting system restored due to the cleared ink from the earlier spinning, the behemoth saw the robot and young warrior still ready to fight.
In order to finish the remaining two warriors off, Galleom chose to effectively stomp them out. The massive machine then fired up its jetpack and hovered in the air until it was right above the two fighters.
Realizing what it was about to do, Mega Man was only able to shout one word before Galleom turned off its thrusters. "Scatter!"
With this command, Mega Man was able to get out of the way just in time to avoid the landing. However, the landing produced a powerful shockwave even greater than the slamming fists done before. This wave caused a hurried Toon Link to become airborne due to the great force applied from the wave.
Because of some quick thinking though, he took out his bow as he was spinning through the air. He readied two arrows until his bow was at Galleom's eye level. "I got you right where I want you!"
With that said at the machine, he fired two simultaneous arrows that successfully hit their marks: both of Galleom's eyes.
This caused the machine to become blind once again and he spun into a rampage.
Seeing the battle from afar, Wolf decided to pull out a smart bomb he had been saving for quite some time now.
In the heat of the moment, the Star Wolf leader decided to head back into the fight and call out Mega Man. "Hey blue robot!"
The Blue Bomber looked back at Wolf for a brief moment. Fortunately, this moment was all that he needed.
Wolf decided to throw the smart bomb at Mega Man with a little more encouragement. "It's a pretty powerful bomb! Don't let that go to waste!"
While turning back toward Galleom, Mega Man caught the bomb and summoned his mechanical dog Rush once more to gain significantly more height. "Don't worry! I know exactly what to do with this!"
Once the blue bomber was right above the mechanical behemoth, he landed on its shoulder. He then took out a metal buzzsaw to make an opening in the chest. He had to deal with some shaking, but within a few seconds, Mega Man's metal blade was able to create a new opening wide enough for the bomb to enter.
"Let's see you survive this!" Without any hesitation, Mega Man armed the smart bomb and threw it into the opening, landing inside Galleom's upper torso.
With only a few seconds until detonation, the heroic robot got away from the machine as quickly as possible.
Once he was just clear of the blast zone, the smart bomb went off. This explosive turned Galleom's upper torso into a ball of expanding energy that significantly damaged the internal circuits and core.
The blowback of the resulting explosion pushed back the massive robot right into the opposing wall. This also left the formidable machine right beside the ship's wreckage where the Great Zapfish was buried underneath.
It attempted to get up one more time, but due to the significant core damage the smart bomb caused, it was no use moving. The mechanical behemoth then shut down as its cores and lights dimmed. After a few more seconds, they completely faded away.
As Mega Man was heading back to the others, Toon Link decided to wrap his arm around his metal shoulder in joy and relief. "That was awesome Mega Man! I knew you'd be the one to beat that thing!"
Steven decided to hug them as well, considering their growing friendship and recent victory.
"Thanks guys!" Said Mega Man "It… actually reminded me of a few fights I had with this evil scientist a long time ago…"
"Save it for when we're back on our world, man!" Said Steven as he was hugging them. "Let's get outta here first!"
Lucas and Red were smiling from afar, processing their recent victory.
"So this means it's over then?" Asked Lucas.
Red left out a relieved chuckle as he called his Pokemon back to him. "Yeah… We just need to join the others now."
As the Pokemon Trainer was turning around, he saw Wolf checking R.O.B. with the progress. "How's it coming along now?"
Shortly after that inquiry, the conduit finally stopped moving as the lights on it began to fade for good. "I believe I succeeded in the conduit deactivation. Now we head for Galeem."
"Agreed." Said Mega Man from afar. "This battle isn't over yet."
This caused the others to look at not only the Blue Bomber, but also the Inkling and sword wielder accompanying him.
"We've got a bone to pick with him too." Said Agent 3 in agreement.
Wolf agreed with them joining right away. "The more the merrier right? Anyone opposed?"
Red, Lucas, and R.O.B. all shook their heads in unison, indicating their agreement as well.
"Let's get going then." Said the Star Wolf leader. "We've got a tyrant that needs dethroning. I've still gotta save my crew too."
As the seven fighters all got back to the entrance of the power plant, they could hear some mechanical whirring coming from Galleom's damaged body.
They all looked back as shock was evident on their faces.
Wolf was among the most surprised from what was happening. "You've gotta be kidding me…"
Lucas was equally as shocked. "What's happening? I thought the core was destroyed!"
R.O.B. decided to weigh his input. "It appears that the machine must have an alternative source of power…"
After that, Galleom opened its chest to reveal a smaller version of the conduit similar to the one that R.O.B. just deactivated, fully powered and ready at a moment's notice. Because of this, Galleom wasn't going to fight any one of the fighters present.
Instead, the machine picked up on the power buried under the wreckage right next to it. The power of the Great Zapfish.
As the realization hit each one of the fighters like a truck, they all collectively ran toward the machine.
"Destroy that thing now!" Said Steven in utter panic. "We can't let it get to the Zapfish!"
Galleom was moving its arm, and after a few seconds of digging through the ship's debris, managed to lay its palm on the back of the Great Zapfish. Once the hand was fully on the creature, the robot took to completely draining the creature of all its energy, storing every ounce of it into the conduit.
"It's too late!" Shouted Red despite the disbelief he felt.
Steven was the most shocked about this as he shared a history with the powerful creature. "No…. no no no NO!
However, no matter what the fighters did, it was too late. Every bit of the Great Zapfish's energy was stored in the conduit within Galleom's chest.
Within a few more short seconds, the energy shot out from the machine's body, destroying Galleom's entire robotic body in the process.
The resulting stream of energy from the conduit shot out like a snake quickly emerging from a burrowed hole. This brilliant beam of pure light energy proceeded to go upward through the opening power plant roof and out into the late afternoon sky.
The stream soon disappeared from the plant as it continued upward, becoming more out of view. The light then began to fade until the chamber was full of nothing but dimmed sunlight, broken charred metal, and fighters utterly stunned with what just happened.
Steven got on his knees and broke down in silent tears. As did Lucas.
Mega Man, Wolf, Toon Link, and Red all looked downward, unable to process what had occurred. They won the battle, but still failed.
After a moment of silence, Mega Man decided to break it. "Where… is that beam … headed?"
R.O.B. decided to respond in a timely, but defeated manner. "It… will head to Galeem… within the span of only… a few minutes…"
"All is lost then…" Responded Red as he got on his knees. "We failed…"
With those words, the team knew that they lost. However, they all knew that they had to help the others fighting Galeem despite the minimal chance they had now.
They all decided to exit the power plant and head toward the fortress. As they got out of the plant and into the evening sunlight, Lucas said one more thing that just barely kept everyone else's spirits going. "Even if it's a small chance of victory… we still have to keep on going. For them… For everyone fighting over there and on our world too."
With that short speech, morale was weak, but it was only a little less fragile among the group as they headed to the Lightspace Fortress.
With Galleom providing another power source for Lord of Light to use, the power plant team knew that the worst was still yet to come.
