Hey... I know it's been a while again. Fall midterms at my school were taking up so much of my time that I got insanely busy when them. As of last weekend though, I have had a lot more free time and I still plan to finish this story before the year is over! I also know so much has happened too on Nintendo's side, so let me talk to you guys and give some opinions on what happened while I was out again.
Sora in Smash Bros: It happened. I still can't believe it. It finally happened. I didn't think it was gonna happen due to the legal obstacles of Disney, but somehow, it happened! I had hope for so long that Sora was going to be included because of Cloud and Sephiroth already being playable fighters. I'm so happy he's included now. He was the only fighter I really cared about being included in the game! If you've been following me since the beginning, you know how much I wanted Sora to be included. Now the ideal Smash roster is fully complete! I haven't seen the Sora gameplay tutorial video or even touched Sora in Smash yet, but I plan to later this week. I'll let you all know how he feels next week!
Metroid Dread: I haven't bought the game yet. I had a chance to a while back, but the shops that I went to said they were all sold out. From the gameplay videos and trailers I've seen, I feel like it'll be a really good graphical game with a lot of tense moments within it. When I do get it and play it all the way through, I want to fully believe that this game will breathe needed new life into the Metroid series. I'm hoping another game gets developed soon. Maybe even give some more info on Metroid Prime 4 if it's still happening.
Nintendo Direct September 2021:
Mario Party Superstars: I plan on getting this game a bit later after release just because I haven't picked up a Mario Party game since MP8 and that was on the Wii long ago. This game would be a good way to get reacquainted with the game series and maybe invite some friends for some party game shenanigans. I don't think it'll be too bad.
Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Expansion Passes: I bought this game a while back and played through the whole story. However, I felt like it was incomplete and dropped to play other games. I didn't even get the expansion pass. However, I saw that the second expansion part had a new story and new playable characters, I felt like it would be enough to get back into the game again. I'll probably do that later in the week too.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land: This looks to be a good game with great graphics according to what I've seen so far. I'm also hoping it doesn't disappoint. From what I've seen, it reminds me a bit of Mario Odyssey graphic wise. I'll get it because I haven't played a Kirby game in forever.
Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack: I have mixed feelings on this. I have never played some N64 games, especially Ocarina of Time and StarFox 64, so this membership seems worth it. However, I really don't want to spend $50 every year so I can play some extra games, so I'm a little apprehensive on it so far. As of this update, it released several days ago, so I'll give it some time until the initial dust settles.
Mario Movie Cast: Oh my God. I was laughing in disbelief almost the whole way through. I honestly feel like this cast would either make or break the film. No middle ground. I think Chris Pratt would bring out a normal Italian voice, but I wouldn't expect someone as talented as him to overdo things. He's a really funny guy from what I've seen in Parks & Rec and Guardians of the Galaxy, among other roles, so I feel like that funny charismatic side might carry over to the movie. Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach makes sense, but I've never seen the Queen's Gambit or anything else she's in, so I can hardly say that. I'll see the Queen's Gambit soon so I can see what acting she might implement into Peach. I only saw a few clips of It's always Sunny in Philadelphia, but from what I've seen, Charlie Day seems like a great choice to play Luigi. His voice and style of comedy would honestly go well with Luigi. Where I really have a hard time wrapping my head around though is Jack freaking Black as Bowser! I was laughing hard at first, but looking back at the video, I feel like Jack Black might be the right choice, even if there is still some level of disbelief there. He'll probably bring out that intimidating monstrous performance while also not being too scary and kind of comedic in his role. He's also no stranger to animation either. If you've seen the Kung Fu Panda trilogy, you know what I mean. I feel like he'll make a unique Bowser not many other actors can replicate. Keegan-Michael Key is a good choice for Toad. I was expecting Kevin Hart at first, considering his involvement with Illumination before, but I'm okay with Key. He'll probably bring out a higher pitched voice for Toad too. I feel like Seth Rogen as DK would be a good choice because of his signature only question I have for that is if he will just do gorilla grunts and noises, or actually speak. Overall, the cast looks pretty solid. I had a hard time believing the cast at first, but it's starting to grow on me now. I'm hoping it doesn't flop like the 90s movie did.
Splatoon 3 New Trailer: From what I've seen, this new trailer looks like it improves on the existing formulas when it comes to turf wars, weapons, and styles for Inklings. I'm hoping the gameplay aspect doesn't deviate too much from Splatoon 2. Otherwise, it wouldn't feel like the first two games that really grew on me. There's also new story footage too, but my main question is where Off the Hook is at. They were a central aspect in Splatoon 2 and the Octo Expansion, but I'm hoping they turn up later on.
Bayonetta 3: Another game I'm looking forward to buying. I never played the first two games though, so I don't know if I should bet Bayonetta 2 before getting 3. Either way though, the trailer footage makes the game look enjoyable so far. I'm looking forward to its release.
For those of you wondering about my opinions on the Animal Crossing New Horizons DLC and updates, I'll give those out next week.
Now that I've got all that out of the way, I'll move on to the chapter because I know you want to get to it. As always, don't forget to fave, follow, and like. It has always meant the world to me. Now, let's get into this brand new chapter!
Final Destination Arena, World of Light, A few minutes after the beam's departure
As Mario was looking at the incoming beam of energy headed for Galeem, he knew what this moment meant for them. For all of them. It proved that they lost.
The power stream entered the Lord of Light through his chest, and caused him to become enveloped in an aura of pure natural light energy. This caused his size to increase. In addition, his muscles became more toned. Most distinctively though, were his four multicolored wings. They grew to be almost double the size they were before, leading to a more intimidating presence.
With this change in appearance and a dramatic increase in power, Galeem saw the defeated opposition below him. He then levitated in the air and looked down on his opponents.
"I was right in the end. Your friends have failed. And soon… you will all experience new lives in my era of peace. Once I obtain Palutena's power on your world, all of you will soon feel the second wave of my new power over this entire universe. The cleansing is near."
With this announcement, Galeem charged an attack, similar to Tabuu's off waves. "This is farewell!"
While Galeem was charging this attack, the fighters all prepared for the worst.
Mario was closing his eyes, remembering Peach and Luigi, among other loved ones he had met. "Please… everyone… don't-a let him win…"
Pikachu was crawling to an injured Samus, barely conscious, but still able to make out his companion. "Pika…"
Tears were flowing down his face as he leaned close to Samus, wanting some level of comfort before the end.
Sonic, Lucario, and Falco all looked up at Galeem as the worst was about to come.
The injured Blue Blur was the first to speak up. "Everyone… we had a good run while it lasted…"
Falco responded almost immediately with a smile despite the hard battle. "Yeah we did. It was fun..."
Once Galeem's attack was fully charged, it produced a powerful omnidirectional wave, completely obliterating the large platform below. Any fighters that were on the platform were instantly turned into trophies.
With the destruction of the floating ground, there was nowhere for the trophies to land, so they all plummeted downward, falling beneath the clouds.
With the fighters on his world defeated, Galeem was set to conquer everything with the initial rush of power coursing through him.
However, there was still one objective that came back to him as he calmed down from his power rush. "I still have to procure the energy from Palutena. Only then... until then... will my plan be realized. After that, with nothing but a complete release of my energy, I will finally establish order and perfection in this impure universe. Peace is nearly at hand."
With nothing but a thought, he turned into his ball form and instantly left the planet significantly faster than the speed of light. With his departure into the void of space, he set out with the singular objective of obtaining Palutena's life force by any means necessary.
World of Light's Surface
Each trophy was emerging downward from the white blanket of clouds above. As they were all rapidly falling, they showed no signs of slowing down. Fortunately, there was still someone that prevented them from hitting the hard and rocky terrain.
When they were within several meters from the ground, a sudden telekinetic force stopped them from all sustaining a hard landing.
This came from Mewtwo, who was tending an unconscious Rosalina due to Galeem's earlier attack.
With Mewtwo's timely rescue, the trophies landed safely on the ground without any damage from the high fall.
The Psychic type then revived everyone by touching their stands, bringing them back into consciousness one by one.
As the group began to recover, Mario looked at Mewtwo and expressed his gratitude through his expression. "Thank-a you… Mewtwo."
Mewtwo saw the situation the fighters were in and asked the first question that came to his mind, despite the overwhelming despair he felt. "We lost…Didn't we?"
The looks on the revived fighters' faces more than answered his question.
Pikachu was still tearing up while being beside a damaged Samus hoisted by Falco and Lucario.
Mario was helping up a recovering Sonic when he asked another question that just came to him. "Now what?"
"I don't know…" Responded Mewtwo. "I was going to head back up, but it was already too late…"
Mario then thought of something they could've done. "We need to warn the others on the World of-a Trophies about Galeem's attack."
"I don't know if that's possible" Replied Lucario. "It's likely that Galeem's already there…"
"I don't like to say this… but there's nothing we can do anymore…" Said Samus as she was recovering. "What we can do though, is hope that whoever is left on our world will defeat Galeem… even in the more powerful state he's in."
Sonic was inclined to agree. "Samus is right. We can't just give up. We still have hope that our friends on our world will pull through."
With that statement, everyone in the group had just enough morale to not completely accept defeat.
"Let's get out of here." Proposed Falco. "As much as I dread going back there, we should head to the Light Fortress to find a ship and get off this rock. I know that the fortress has a hangar that me and Wolf attempted to escape from before."
"Agreed." Responded Lucario. "There's really nothing more for us to do here. If we stay, we're doomed."
With that goal in mind, the group started to limp their way back to the fortress in hopes of finding them a ship to get themselves off of the World of Light for good.
Twenty Minutes Later
When the group was within several kilometers of the fortress, Sonic could see a few silhouettes out on the foggy horizon, roughly a kilometer away from where they were. "Hey… I think I see people!"
The rest of the group looked in Sonic's direction and saw seven figures coming. The fighters recognized four of them right away, but three of them looked unfamiliar.
When the new group got out of the fog in a better view, they looked to be in just as bad of shape as themselves.
Lucas was holding onto Red while his Charizard was being leaned on by Wolf. R.O.B. was unharmed, but the same can't be said for the three newcomers with them.
Falco couldn't help but inquire about them. "I take it the new guys are allies?"
Despite the situation they were in, R.O.B. answered almost without hesitation. "Affirmative. Despite our… current predicament, they helped us in the fight at the power plant. Their names are Mega Man, Steven a.k.a. Agent 3, and Toon Link"
The blond haired child was the first one to speak while holding back some tears. "I know this isn't really the right time to say this, but it's nice to… meet all of you…"
Mario was the one to respond back to the young warrior. "You look-a familiar, but let's-a save that for another time."
Lucario then brought the subject back to their current objective. "We have a new plan."
"What is it?" Asked Mega Man
Falco then continued on. "As much as I hate it, we'll have to go back to the fortress again. We'll need to steal a ship from the hangar and escape this forsaken planet. I don't suppose any of you wanna stick around too right?"
The new power plant group all shook their heads unanimously while growing uncomfortable with being on Galeem's world any longer.
"Good." Replied Falco. "That's settled then."
"Let's-a get to the fortress now." Said Mario. "And-a when we do return to the World of Trophies, there's-a no doubt we will either be-a welcomed with-a victory celebration, or a ruined world."
"So all we can do now… is hold out?" Asked Toon Link.
R.O.B. once again responded without hesitation. "Affirmative."
Expressions of worry could be heard from some members, but it never prevented them from walking toward the fortress again, more than ready to escape the World of Light.
