Hey guys! I'm back again with a new chapter for you all to enjoy! We continue where we left off last time where Galeem has finally made it to the World of Trophies to take Palutena's power from her. What will the heroes do to deal with Lord of Light? Read on to find out! I will also make sure to upload far more frequently from here on out! As always, don't forget to fave, follow, and review! Hyrule Kingdom, World of Trophies
Galeem's blinding ball form was directly over the battlefield. With this angle, he started to charge a powerful surge of pure energy. One that could be seen for miles.
"He's charging an attack!" Shouted Snake. "Everyone, find cover now!"
Most of the fighters were able to hide behind corpses of Light Berserkers, jutting rocks, or ruined Guardians. After a few more seconds, Galeem finally released his charged power.
In no time at all, he rained thousands of harmful light beams down on not only the battlefield, but the castle and surrounding environments as well.
When the bombardment reached the ground, the beams' impacts caused violent explosions to pepper the entire kingdom.
With no barrier to protect the castle and town, the enormous attack caused craters to form in the ground.
Many buildings and residences within the town were severely damaged as well.
Zelda could feel the rumbling and the beams coming down around her. However, her, Peach, and Palutena endured the bombardment and remained composed. Even while they risked certain death.
Back on the battlefield, many of the fighters could also do nothing but endure the bombardment for the sake of their own lives. Some of them got grazed by a few blasts, but they all remained composed for the most part.
Eventually, after a few more moments, the beams stopped firing.
The fighters could only take a breath to recover as Galeem soon descended onto the ground within seconds. During his descent, he gracefully converted into his humanoid form.
The Lord of Light then made an announcement. One that reverberated throughout the entire kingdom. "I have traveled to your world to take the last source of power you hold. Surrender it now, and I will be merciful to all of you in my new era of peace."
Before anyone could say anything, Fox stepped forward and stood his ground against Galeem. "Never! You showing mercy is nothing more than a lie! It won't happen!"
Most fighters stood by the pilot, willing to defend Palutena and the universe's future through whatever means necessary.
"So be it then." Said Galeem. "You will not stand in my way any longer."
"-We'll see about that!-" Shouted Donkey Kong as he charged toward Galeem with a powerful punch and all his primal might. The gorilla made sure his fist was the first thing that impacted the Lord of Light.
However, all Donkey Kong could hit was a hexagonal barrier Galeem projected. The punch itself didn't do much as a scratch despite the shockwave it produced.
Overrun with disbelief, the large primate attempted to throw another punch, only to be telekinetically lifted by the Lord of Light and thrown straight into a ruined Guardian headfirst. This impact knocked the primate unconscious and converted him back into a trophy.
With this display of strength, Zelda, who saw Galeem through the various camera feeds, issued another command. "Everyone, your target is the man in white and gold with wings! Do not let him get to Palutena by any means necessary!"
Fox then decided to issue another command as he readied his blaster. "We need to keep him from the castle as much as we can! And stay alive! ALL OF YOU!"
A platoon of soldiers and Guardians fired upon Galeem, only for all of them to be disintegrated by a wide but powerful beam from the Lord of Light's left hand. "They are unworthy…"
Galeem then started to walk toward the castle with his only objective being to siphon Palutena's Goddess power and bring about his new era of peace.
Chrom, Ike, and Corrin all came at him simultaneously, However, the Lord of Light saw this and conjured a golden chain whip from his right hand. This attack hit all three of them with a backhand stroke, instantly turning them into trophies.
Robin charged up a powerful attack from one of his thunder tomes. After a few seconds, he fired it straight at Galeem. "Thoron!"
The Lord of Light caught this attack with his hand. He then stored the electrical energy inside his body and let it back out through the same hand, only with twice as much width and power.
He aimed this rebound energy straight back at the surprised mage. Because he couldn't get out of the attack in time due to his disbelief, he turned into a trophy too.
Lucina could only watch as Robin was turned into a trophy. "Robin!"
She then readied her sword and charged straight at Galeem. "You will regret that!"
Simon and Richter used their whips to hold Galeem back by each arm from behind. Meanwhile Lucina started charging at Galeem with her sword. Meta Knight also flew above the swordswoman to join her in the attack.
The whips kept the Lord of Light back for a bit, but he fired beams from his eyes to blast two holes in one of Meta Knight's wings, crippling him and forcing him to land.
Galeem then finished Meta Knight off with a more powerful optical beam, making another trophy.
Lucina attempted to block another incoming eye beam with her sword, but the attack was too strong. The beam knocked the sword out of her hand and into the nearby ground. He then fired another beam at the defenseless swordswoman, creating another trophy in the process.
Snake and Wario attempted to fire a barrage of rockets and Bob-Ombs respectively from a distance to further slow down Galeem. However, all they did was hit the barrier he conjured earlier with no damage.
With overwhelming strength, he broke free of the Belmonts' whips, snapping them in the process. He then unleashed an omnidirectional short-ranged burst of energy that turned the vampire killers and Wario into trophies instantly.
Snake barely managed to escape the blast zone, but it was ultimately futile.
Galeem immediately noticed his escape. "You really think you can run from me?"
Stretching out his hand, he fired a beam that Snake immediately dodged with a somersault, only to be hit by another beam straight out of the Lord of Light's other hand. This attack instantly defeated Snake, making him one more trophy.
Ryu, Ken, and Little Mac all then came for Galeem with their attacks at the ready.
Little Mac made his move first with a haymaker, but the Lord of Light caught him by the neck and landed a right hook of his own on the boxer's face. This immediately turned him into a trophy before Galeem tossed the boxer aside.
Ken and Ryu attempted to fire back with Hadokens they summoned, but Galeem made handguns that fired concentrated blasts of energy that hit both street fighters, making them trophies too.
A voice could then be heard behind Galeem. "Falcon…"
He immediately turned around, only to be met with a fist. "PUNCH!"
The captain expected some damage to be dealt, but was met with something far less satisfying.
Galeem had caught the fist as the flaming bird around the captain faded away. He then grabbed him by the arm and slammed him hard on the ground in front of him.
The sheer force of the hit turned Captain Falcon into another trophy. The Lord of Light then kicked the trophy aside and continued his walk toward the castle.
"Can't you all see that it's hopeless?" Said Galeem. "This world... no... this universe needs me."
Hyrule Castle Sanctum
Palutena was barely hanging onto her own life after her barrier was destroyed earlier. As she was regaining consciousness, she could see Zelda and Peach overseeing the battle.
"What's… going on…?" Asked the Goddess groggily.
"Galeem is here…" Said Peach. "The others are doing their best… but it doesn't seem like they can stop him…"
"I have… an idea... " Said Palutena "You have to kill me."
"That is not an option!" Shouted Zelda in protest. "You're our ally! We don't trade lives in this fight! Let alone in this kingdom!"
"It's not like we have any other option here." Replied the goddess. "It's the only way…"
"We have another option." Said Bayonetta as she and the two angels came into the room. "But it will cost you… Not your life.. but something else."
When Pit saw Palutena alive again, a cascade of emotions started flowing through him. Before he could say a word, the Goddess of Light cut him off.
"I imagine you have many questions, Pit, but right now, we have far more pressing matters to deal with." Explained the goddess.
"I… I understand… Lady Palutena…" Responded the angel through tears. "Still… I'm so happy… to see you again…"
Bayonetta then proceeded to explain her method. "Palutena, I can infuse enough dark energy within you to get rid of any potential light power that dwells within your body. However, this type of method cannot be reversed. You will be nothing but a mortal human from now on. There will be no going back to the goddess you are now."
Already thinking it through, Palutena made up her mind. "If it's to save the universe, I will do it without hesitation."
Bayonetta then prepared for the spell. "...Ok then, goddess. Take a deep breath and clear your mind. This will take several minutes."
"That's if Galeem doesn't get to us first." Added Dark Pit.
The Umbra Witch then raised her hand, and forced a powerful dark magic stream into Palutena's chest. The goddess's reaction to the spell was one of surprise and determination, as well as an embrace of what was to come.
With Bayonetta's spell in the process of Palutena's power removal, all that was left now was for the fighters to hold Galeem back before the spell was completed. Otherwise, all their efforts would have been in vain.
