This is my ninth chapter of Complicated Lives: Part 3
Pairings: Kodi/Kirby, Balto/Steele, Kaltag/Star (Slash)
Dusty stood her ground as the dogs approached her, she growled. "Relax, doll...we just wanna know where the two faggots are," Hank asked. "Yeah, we want to finish what we started," Keno said while laughing Maniacally. Thank back-handed him, telling him to shut up. Dusty was breaking and was also full of rage over what she heard. "If you want them, you'll have to go through me," She said. The leader, Hank, smiled and licked his lips which were surprisingly bloody, and his teeth. Keno was the same way.
Her eyes widened; she knew they were killers, but cannabis. This made a spirit awake deep inside her she didn't know she had. "Gladly," Keno said but was quickly stopped "Look at her eyes," Hank whispered to him while keeping his eyes on her.
Dusty, you have the mark of the wolf" An unknown wolf said. "Yeah, like Balto," another said after him. You said it" He said. "I did" He uncovered his head. The husky noticed two dogs come up, but one was smaller than Keno. It was Kaltag and Star, but Dusty still stood her ground even after Nikki confirmed they are friends of Balto. Hank overheard and turned their attention to the trio. That's right; we've been looking for a new leader, and you were one only who will do" Star stood up to him, but Kaltag noticed that Hank would overpower his boyfriend, so he protected him. Nikki wasn't afraid cause his boyfriend could defend himself.
Dusty saw the opportunity to escape so without thinking, she took it. Her instants were telling her to not return to her friends, but where else would she go. She had a limited amount of time to get out of there, but what path was she about to take? "Where do I go? She asked herself while Hank was occupied at the moment. Suddenly, she heard a raven call out to her and looked up. Follow me" She heard a voice but couldn't find the source so she figured it must be the raven. She was unaware that the voice only implies to her. The raven landed on her head and guided her to a safe zone.
Kodi, Steele, and Ralph were in hot pursuit on Dusty's location with the help of Kodi's nose. "This way," Kodi said. Steele was beside Ralph who was constantly complaining about his broken toenail. "Ugh, would you please" The husky rolled his eyes in annoyance? Sorry, my toenail is broken. Kodi was annoyed as well. "Now I know how Kirby felt," He thought. It took a few more steps before Steele said something. "Hey..hybrid, can we talk? His father told him stories about how he almost murdered a whole town and almost killed his dad. However, if it is what he says is true, then he could be a powerful ally. Steele was surprised that Balto and his ex fantasy mate had a child together and was eager to get to know him. "Hey, Ralph is it? The heavyset husky turned to him to confirm.
"How will do you know the hybrid? Steele asked. "He's our current lead dog on our mail team," He asked. "Oh," Steele seemed interested cause Balto wasn't even a sled dog. Thanks to Kodi's highly trained ears, he could overhear Steele's whispering. "Kirby was the official lead dog, but he had some brain damage" Kodi's ears picked that specific sentence which caused a painful memory to resurface. "Now's not the time for crying," He said to himself, trying to hold it back, but the pain was too much, but there was nothing he could do about it, which terrified him.
By the time Steele got all the information, he had walked up to Kodi, but when the hybrid looked at him with his gazing eyes, the former villain felt like he was being hypnotized, but snapped out of it and asked how he's a born leader. "Look, I don't wanna waste time, so when we get to the outskirts of Nome..you can lead" Steele can tell that Kodi doesn't wholly trust him yet, and he has every right to. Ralph noticed his buddy was tense, so he offered to give him some comfort. "Hey, don't worry, we'll get her," He said. "It's not only Dusty, y'know," Kodi said as he's filled up with rage and looked at him "Kirby's my mate, and I made a promise to myself avenge him. Ralph was even more concerned 'Kirby would know just what to say" He said as Kodi continued to grip his rage.
Back at home, Kirby was pacing back and forth while creating ditches in the snow. Balto and Jenna were worried "He's acting like Mel" Jenna claimed as she faced her mate. "What can I say to that, they've been lovers for years and had a kid together" He explained. "Hmmm, I can't argue with that...besides, I was the same way when I saw you," Jenna said, making Balto reminisce. "I remember," He said and she nuzzled under his chin. "Talk to him, spend time with him," She said and announced that she has to go check how Lily is doing. Jenna licked his mate then ran off to the house. Balto was now alone "Okay, you can do this," He said to himself which is a shock cause he's been a father for many years. Kirby stopped to take some breathes until he heard pawsteps coming up. Son, you okay? He asked. "We've never been apart for this long," He explained as tears ran down his cheeks while reminiscing about that time since that night in the clinic. Balto felt like sharing his own remorse, so he sat down beside him. "Let me tell you about my other gay son, Dingo," He started. "What about him? He asked. "Well, he hasn't been with his mate, Nuk, for years," He said. Kirby stopped crying and looked at him. Balto sucks at this parenting talk, if only Jenna was here cause this was her specialty. "Listen, son, what I mean is that you shouldn't let your worries get the best of you. Kirby took some time for that to sink it before finally smiling. Balto took it as a thank you and nuzzled him as he nuzzled back.
Here's Balto's first attempt to have some bonding time with his son-in-law and you can guarantee that there will be more to come I'm don't know if anyone noticed, but Kodi actually has an overlooked brother named Dingo. We saw him in a flashback still has a puppy, but it's about time to give him his own role for the remainder of this story. I loved Kaltag & Star as a couple. as it was most fanart on Balto Sources alongside Kodi/Kirby.
Getting a boyfriend for Dingo was easy cause Nuk was like Kirby and Ralph had a child together, Anyway. I'm happy to say I'll be introducing more chapters for this story and maybe a part 4, depending on where this leads. That said, each couple will have their own parts
