There's like..no plot. It's just an excuse to dress up our fave bbs fancy and be cute on a mission :3

Disclaimer: I don't own The Flash/DCTV

"For the record, this is not a good idea."

Cisco's voice rang in Barry's earpiece, sounding every bit as nervous, cautious, and jittery as the man himself felt. Barry smiled at the bartender who handed him his drink, nodding and adjusting his plain black mask with his free hand, and then brushing invisible lint off his suit jacket as his friend continued to rant.

"I mean, it's not like she doesn't know the risks, she's a doctor—"

"You sound like you've actually managed to talk her out of something before, Ramon."

Henry's voice joined in the conversation, which wasn't a surprise as the earpiece was hooked up to broadcast to and receive from the entirety of the Cortex.

"Yes, well, things are different now, aren't they, and don't tell me you agree with her insane plan—"

"Snow wasn't wrong when she said this is the only play we have left; you're high profile enough being affiliated with S.T.A.R. Labs and the CCPD, and Allen is actually CCPD. Even with a mask, the mark might not recognize her. Snow did most of her work in the background, they won't see her coming as easily as they would see any of us—"

Their voices faded to the background as Barry looked to the staircase in the entryway, smaller than the grand staircase, but no less opulent. Their mark spared no expense in booking this venue for his annual gala; even this smaller staircase was carefully lined with a carpet of red velvet. Large vases of red roses were placed on alternating sides of each stair, and fairy lights were looped around the banister, bathing the romantic, dimly lit room in a soft glow. The staircase and its extravagance weren't what made everything else fall away though—it was the figure at the top of the stairs, making her way down, that made his breath catch and vision zero in on her.

Her strapless mermaid gown was burgundy, the ruched tulle layered and wrapped around her entire body from her not-quite-sweetheart neckline down to her knees, which then flared out into layers upon layers of cascading tulle that swept the floor. A simple diamond necklace rested on her breastbone, matching the silver diamond bracelet on her right wrist and the starburst ring resembling a snowflake that sat above a plain silver ring on her left ring finger. A diamond hung from a strand of silver on each ear, her earrings completing the look without being overly flashy.

Her lips were painted in a shade of burgundy that matched her dress, and her hazel eyes were accentuated by black eyeliner, rose-colored eyeshadow, and mascara. Instead of a traditional mask, temporary tattoos framed her eyes in the guise of a black lace mask. Her hair was curled out of her eyes and face and pinned in an elaborate updo, and a silver hairpiece lined with diamonds and designed like a vine twisted through the strands on the sides to meet at the bun pinned at the back of her head.

She had worn that hairpiece at her wedding, he thought absent-mindedly, watching her mermaid skirt rustle with each step down.

He would know. He was there.

"Hi," Barry murmured when she walked up to him, smiling. Her lips twitched, and he knew she was trying not to laugh when he lifted her hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss on the back. "Mrs. Snow-Allen."

"Mr. Allen," she responded, clearing her throat with that wide smile still on her face.

"Wow, can you two get any sappier?" Cisco quipped in both their earpieces, immediately breaking the mood.

Hooking her arm through his, she let him lead them through the crowd at the bar to the dance floor, circling around the dancers and onlookers who stood at the side, nursing drinks or deep in conversation.

"Caitlin, might I remind you that today isn't bring your child to work day?" the engineer continued, and Caitlin discreetly sighed.

"I'm not technically working," she pointed out, her body language suggesting she was talking to Barry next to her instead of a disembodied voice. "I work for S.T.A.R. Labs, not the Flash."

"Okay, but the Flash is actually next to you and is trying to bring down a mega-million moneybags meta—"

Henry nearly snorted. "Try saying that five times fast, Ramon."

"—and you have no idea what might even happen, like how are you not worried—"

Barry looked at Caitlin, grinning as she shot him a fond, exasperated smile that he knew was directed at their friends and not at him.

"—besides, it's not like you can access your ice powers anymore, and what if something unexpected happens—"

Caitlin sighed. "Cisco!" she hissed, hiding her face in Barry's shoulder as though she was whispering to him. "It's going to be okay; the baby isn't even going to be here for another six months!"

"Speaking of," he continued as though she hadn't just interrupted him mid-rant. "How are you barely even showing in that dress? Isn't it too tight, isn't that bad for the kid, oh man—"

Caitlin pinched the bridge of her nose. "Barry wouldn't let me walk out of the house if there was anything remotely worrying about my outfit for the baby, and the ruching and the layers make my stomach look smaller, and with the color—you know what," she said with a sigh, "no, the dress isn't too tight, it's not bad for the baby, it just makes my waist looks smaller, and I know you're worried, but trust me, we're going to be okay. It'll be a quick get-in, get-out mission once the Flash shows up, which I know for a fact he will, and it'll be a good hurrah for fancy parties like this before the baby inevitably gets here with horrible timing like her father.".

"Hey!" Barry said indignantly, speaking up in the conversation for the first time. Cisco couldn't resist and laughed in their earpieces.

Right at that moment though, their mark made his entrance, the guests applauding as he appeared at the top of the stairs. Barry sighed, looking at Caitlin—his wife, four months pregnant, and more beautiful than ever—and he nearly didn't want to leave her side. She nudged him, planting a quick kiss on his mouth.

"Go get him, Flash," she whispered, pulling back with a smile.

He grinned at her, kissing the tip of her nose one more time before disappearing in crackles of lightning.
