Brig

Adam is seen in a lonely cell with three handcuffs on his arms. It happened so quickly, too.

(Flashback)

The trio's happy moment is suddenly interrupted by the screeching noise of cars stopping above them. The car doors open and groups of agents begin to surround and apprehend us.

"What are you doing!?" Shinji exclaims as the agent puts a cloth on Shinji's mouth causing him to quickly pass out while the agents simply lead Rei away.

"Let them go!" Adam yells as they put handcuffs and a bag over his head. The agents drag him back and throw him into the back of a ban and quickly drive away.

(Flashback ends)

If Adam had to guess it was probably the commander who issued for his arrest, likely wanting to interrogate him. It's not like he didn't anticipate this, but they could have at least simply asked him to come with them.

Suddenly, the doors of his cell open and two men wearing black suits appear with guns aimed at him. "The commander wants to see you. If you do not cooperate, we will use force."

Adam stares at the two before complying to their orders. The three walk through the empty halls of NERV, giving it a sense of... unease.

"This place sure is creepy when there's no one around, don't you think so?" Adam remarks.

"Shut up and keep moving." One of the agents states pushing the head of the gun to his back.

Soon we arrived at a pair of double doors that quickly opened revealing a dimly lit and spacious office with some kind of writing etched into the walls and floor. At the other side of the office stood a desk and on it is Gendo Ikari staring at him with a cold calculating glare.

Standing by his side is someone Adam didn't recognize. He is a tall man, older than Gendo himself wearing a dark reddish-brown buttonless uniform. He looks at me calmly yet there's something about his stare that didn't make Adam relax at all.

He stands a fair distance between himself and the commander as the two of them stare at each other with neither of them moving a single muscle… until one of them speaks.

"This isn't how I expected our first official meeting to be. I mean in your office sure, but not me in three sets of handcuffs." Adam lifts his arms showcasing his handcuffs.

"A precaution among many." Gendo states.

"Which are…?"

"None of your concern."

"..." Adam says nothing and just stares at the commander and the old man standing beside him.

"We merely have some questions for you, that is all." The old man said in a calm yet stoic tone.

Adam turns to the old man. "Who are you?"

"I am Kozo Fuyutsuki, the Vice Commander of NERV." The old man, Fuyutsuki, introduced himself.

"Nice to meet you." Adam bows.

Fuyutsuki nods.

"Enough." Gendo states. "I want you to hand over your ship to NERV."

Adam merely raises an eyebrow. "Why would you want my ship?"

"It does not belong in the hands of a child." Gendo bluntly states. "You will hand over the ship immediately."

"... I'm afraid that's not possible." Adam states.

"This is not up to negotiation. Either you will hand it over or we will have you locked up." Gendo explained.

Fuyutsuki looks at his colleague in disdain but says nothing.

"You don't understand, I can't give you something that isn't mine." Adam said. "I'm just borrowing it."

"From who?" Gendo asked.

Adam just stares at the commander.

One of the agents steps forward and punches Adam in the stomach knocking all of the air out of his lungs. "Ngh!" Adam doubles over in pain as he falls on the floor choking from the lack of air in his lungs.

"I do not have time for games, boy." Gendo almost sneered at the word, something that Fuyutsuki quickly takes notice of. "If you do not cooperate then you will be incarcerated for insubordination."

Adam looks up and gives Gendo a hateful glare. "F-F-Fuck you…!"

Gendo adjusts his glasses.

Adam is thrown back to his cell, sporting a series of bruises, cuts, and a black eye. The agents merely give him a glance before promptly closing the door.

Adam coughs from the pain, spitting out a tooth in the process. "Goddamn bastard…" He slowly pulls himself up and falls into the bed "Ugh."

'I hope Shinji and Rei are alright…' He thought.

"That was unnecessary, Ikari." Fuyutsuki said.

"The destruction of the Angels is NERV's top priority, we have no time for childish banter." Gendo states.

"Even so, resorting to violence especially on a child is unbecoming of you." Fuyutsuki countered.

"He would not cooperate, extreme measures needed to be taken." Gendo began. "His existence here puts the scenario in jeopardy. Such wild cards must be tamed or eliminated."

"Are you saying that because of what he is or because of something else entirely?" Fuyutsuki looks down at the commander.

Gendo merely stays silent.

Adam opens his bloodshot eyes to see his cell door opening… and Misato walks inside carrying something.

"Misato…?" Adam groans out.

Misato walks closer and gasps at seeing the extent of his injuries "Oh god, what did they do to you…"

"... how are Shinji and Rei?" Adam asked, dodging Misato's question.

Misato gives him a look before she smiles a little. "They're fine. Rei has minor injuries and a couple of burns, but nothing fatal. Shinji is alright, too. He wouldn't stop asking me about what happened to you."

"That's good… at least they're safe." Adam coughs and lets out a pained groan.

Misato opens the case revealing it to be a medical kit and takes out a Gauze pad with alcohol in it. "This will sting." She rubs it in his wounds.

"Agh!" Adam hisses out.

"Don't be such a baby." Misato remarks.

"S-shut up." Adam said.

The two stay silent as Misato continues to tend to his wounds. "You should try to cooperate with the commander," She began. "Despite his attitude, he takes the survival of the human race very seriously."

"I can't hand the ship over to him, no matter how much he tries to 'persuade' me into doing it." Adam said. "It has a secret that my mother took to her grave… if it's discovered, there's no telling what will happen."

"Your mother?" Misato asked.

"I don't know my mother, she died the moment I was born. My father-" Adam stops himself before a smile forms on his face. "Hahahaha… why am I talking about this?"

Misato looks at Adam with confusion as she finishes putting his bandages. "All done."

Adam looks at the bandages and begins to flex a little; at least it doesn't hurt when he moves. "Thank you." Adam smiles. "When can I leave?"

Misato frowns. "The commander hasn't given the order for your release. I'm afraid you'll have to stay here until he does."

Adam scoffs. "Always the commander this and commander that. It's like you people are robots who need to be told what to do."

"We're soldiers, Adam. We have to follow orders."

As Adam is about to say something he is interrupted by the appearance of a figure standing in front of the cell door.

"Good evening. It looks like Colonel Katsuragi is taking good care of you."

"Vice Commander Fuyutsuki!?" Misato exclaims. "What are you doing here!?"

"I am simply here to take the young man to the infirmary... though it seems that is no longer necessary." Fuyutsuki states.

"So why are you here then?" Adam growls.

"Adam!?" Misato reprimands the boy.

Fuyutsuki sighs. "No, it's alright. He has every right to loathe me since I let Ikari have his way with him."

"You did nothing." Adam hisses out and stands up. "You just stood there while Gendo's goons beated me up; all to have something that isn't even mine!" He suddenly falls back on his bed when his sides begin to ache. "Shit…!"

"Don't move so fast like that, I just finished patching you up!" Misato said.

Fuyutsuki can't help but feel pity for the boy. While he thinks that robot - the Weltall if he remembered correctly - could be beneficial at stopping the Angel threat. 'Though he'll likely have to deal with them as well…'

"I will let you leave." The two roommates look at him in surprise. "It's the least I can do for the boy."

"But sir… what about the commander?" Misato asked.

"Ikari is none of your concern, Colonel Katsuragi." Fuyutsuki then smiles. "Just go and be with your friends… and thank you for saving us all." With that, the Vice Commander leaves the two and walks to parts unknown.

"Well, you heard the man…" Adam tries to stand but struggles due to the pain.

"Stop that. Here, let me help." Misato wraps his left arm around her shoulder and helps him walk out of the cell.

"I'm home!" Misato yells out as she walks inside her apartment.

Footsteps can be heard running towards them. "Welcome ba-" Shinji stops as he sees Adam with her. "Adam!"

"Heya…" Adam waves at Shinji.

Shinji helps Adam walk inside into the kitchen/dining room. Adam notices Rei on the table fast asleep.

"Rei…?"

"She refused to go home, she wanted to thank you." Shinji told him.

Adam turns to Shinji. "Thank me? For what?"

"For saving us, dummy." Shinji said. "If it wasn't for you and your robot, none of us would be here."

Adam laughs a little. "I guess you're right."

Rei stirs as she slowly wakes up. "Mmm… Adam…?"

"Yeah… it's me Rei." Adam said.

Rei's eyes snap open at the voice. "You're back." She notices the bandages. "What happened?"

"The commander happened. Apparently, he wasn't too keen on some kid stealing his spotlight." Adam said mockingly.

Rei lowers her head. "I'm… sorry."

Adam smiles and pads her head. "Hey, it's not your fault. There's no need to apologize."

Rei is shocked by the sudden affection and blushes, but not before a small smile appears on her face.

Later

Misato, Shinji and Adam stand in front of the entrance with Rei standing by the door.

"Are you sure you can't stay for the night? You wouldn't mind if that's what you're wondering." Misato said.

Rei shakes her head. "I cannot. The commander has not given me permission for that."

"Tch!" Adam said in annoyance.

Rei turns the knob and opens the door. "I will see you both tomorrow." She closes the door.

Unknown Chamber

The video of the Angel's defeat by the robot is being watched by the monoliths

"So, it really has revealed itself…" SEELE 05 said.

"The Slayer of God… and the Contact. It is just as he foretold." SEELE 07 said.

"What will this mean for the Human Instrumentality Project? Should we do something about it?" SEELE 10 asked.

"No." SEELE 02 responds. "Right now, Ikari does not suspect us just as he believes we do not suspect him of his ulterior agenda."

"Even then, we cannot just let that abomination run around as it pleases. It could destroy decades of hard work." SEELE 03 states.

SEELE 11 ponders for a moment. "03 is correct. There has to be a way to divert the its attention…"

"We leave them be." SEELE 01 states, stopping their chattering. "He does not know of our plans; as far as he is concerned the Angels are his only priority."

"Very well."

"Unit-02 and its pilot are on their way to Tokyo-03 along with the package." SEELE 02 reports. "The 7th Angel is in pursuit, as expected."

"Regardless, we should not take them lightly." SEELE 01 said. "Let us observe for now and see what this doomsday machine is capable of."

The Next Day

Adam is in school talking to Toji and Kensuke. They suddenly came up to him and Shinji earlier today and apologized for what happened the other day and demanded that they punch. Though a bit hesitant, the two obliged as they both punched the jock right in the face, sending him straight to the ground.

Adam turns to Rei's empty desk. 'She's not here today. Where is she?' He then takes his attention to Shinji's desk which is also empty. 'I wonder if he's alright with him there…' A beeping noise catches his attention, "hm?"

"What's up dude?" Toji asked.

Adam turns to the window. "Looks like I have work to do." He then gets an idea and turns to his friends. "Wanna help?"

Meanwhile

The area is desolate and barren, with only grave markers as far as the eye can see. In it, Shinji and Gendo are seen standing in front of a particular marker.

"How long has it been since we last came here together? Three years?" Gendo asked.

"Yeah… then the last time for me was when I ran away for the first time." Shinji said.

The marker read "Yui Ikari 1977 - 2004", and there's a bouquet of Lilies beside it. "It still doesn't seem real to me that Mom is buried here. I can't picture her face anymore…"

"People let their memories fade in order to move on." Gendo states. "Although, there are some things we must never forget. Your mother taught me how to be grateful for these memories and I come here to remind myself how much they matter."

Shinji stands up. "Do you have a picture of her?"

Gendo looks at the horizon, at the endless rows of markers. "They were all destroyed… even this grave is empty. Nothing remains."

Shinji scoffs. "So you got rid of everything. Just like my teacher said you would."

"Everything I need is in my heart and mind, that will have to do for now." Gendo told him.

Shinji doesn't say anything.

A VTOL begins to descend on them. "It's time. I'm needed elsewhere."

Shinji turns around and looks at his father. The two stare at each other before Gendo turns around and makes his way towards the VTOL in silence.

Shinji follows suit and leaves the graveyard as the VTOL flies away. He sees Misato waiting for him with her car, they get in and drive back to the city.

"You see, I told you everything would be alright." Misato said.

Shinji just looks at the passing scenery. "It was important for the two of you to do this together. I mean, it was a visit to your Mom's grave."

"... I only went because you dragged me out here." Shinji said.

"I didn't force you. You know deep down you wanted to come here. Try to be honest with yourself." Misato said.

If I do that, I'll only end up even more miserable…" Shinji told her.

Misato glances at him. "How can you still say that? You shouldn't be so hard on yourself when you just saved humanity. You've got to believe in yourself."

'Believe huh? That's easy for you to say.' Shinji thought.

Misato's communicator begins to ring. "Katsuragi speaking."

The upper half of an artillery gun falls from the sky, almost crushing them. "Can you repeat that!?"

At the same time, the navy is firing their salvo at the new Angel. It is a gigantic bipedal being that resembles a stylized clock. Its tall body is composed of many sharply four-pronged, geometrically similar pieces. The head, atop a long "neck", possesses two bird-like faces placed back-to-back, one longer than the other, resembling hands of a clock moving in opposite directions (each is moving to its left) with a core housed directly under it. Below that is a large red, four-eyed "pendulum" at the end of the Angel's "tail" along with two halo-like rings that are situated on the Angel's "hips".

It makes its way towards Tokyo-03, walking across the ocean itself by the use of its A.T. Field to freeze the water with every step. Its two hands move around as the legs move, syncing with each other. The noise of a clock ticking is also made. The two heads begin to spin, creating crosses that destroy the warships, shooting them into the sky and breaking them in half.

Central Dogma

"7th Angel approaching Sagami Bay! Second Division engaging target!" Shigure said. "A state of emergency has been declared!"

"I've got a clear visual on it! Bringing in the Unit-01 pilot now!" Misato yelled. "Implement Task 03 and prepare Unit-00 for launch!"

"Wait, look!" Shinji points at the sky.

They see the Weltall in its robot mode walking through the red sea and makes its way towards the 7th Angel. The Angel senses the danger and uses dart-like projectile to attack but are all deflected by the ship's barrier. It lines up its artillery guns at the Angel and fires, managing to take out the core in its neck causing the head to explode and the body slowly disaggregates.

"Wow, just one shot!" Shinji yelled, impressed by how quick the Angel was dealt with.

Misato pushes Shinji back to see for herself. "No, that had to be a decoy."

Misato's hunch is right as the Angel's appendage swings up to replace the head, followed by the body's swift reassembly.

The Weltall prepares another attack only for its A.T. Field to rise, protecting the core from an attack. The mech's head moves up and sees an EVA with red armor along with white and orange details free falling straight towards them going in with a flying kick at sonic speeds.

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!" The EVA's foot collides with the A.T. Field, sending a shockwave across the area. The foot connects with an arrow and allows the force to pierce through the A.T. Field and the core, destroying the Angel.

Sometime Later

Misato, Shinji, Adam, Rei, Toji, and Kensuke all stare at the new EVA as it is taken to NERV.

"Wow. It's cool that Unit-02 is red." Toji remarks.

"That's not the only thing that's cool about it." A female voice claims.

The teenagers look up and see a girl with long red hair and dark blue eyes. The hair is loose with the flanks held in twin tails with her red Interface Headset. Her plugsuit is red, stylized with fancy layers and accents with a 02 symbol printed onto the plugsuit.

"Unit-00 and Unit-01 are basically nothing but beta-testing prototypes; they're antiquated machinery. But Unit-02 is the final product! It's the world's first true Evangelion, perfect in every way!" The girl yells out.

"And there she is, the pride of the Euro Air Force. Captain Asuka Shikinami Langley." Misato said.

Asuka slides from the EVA and onto the platform with everyone. "She's the Second Child and the designated pilot of Unit-02."

Asuka runs towards Misato. "It's been a while, Misato." Asuka tilts to her left and sees Rei promptly walking away. "So that's the Unit-00 pilot, huh? The Commander's Pet herself. And," She turns her attention to the boys .''One of you must be Daddy's boy who lucked his way into Unit-01's cockpit and the other is the pilot of that hunk of junk?"

Adam's eye twitches. "The hell did you just say!?"

"U-Umm…" Shinji stutters.

"Hm…" Asuka walks toward Shinji and points her finger at him. "What are you, stupid!? Were you too busy to help me out, not that I needed it anyway!"

Shinji just gives her this dumbstruck look.

Asuka turns to Adam. "And you! How dare you interfere!? This is a NERV operation, so go take your toys somewhere else!"

Adam walks towards, his face only a few meters from her own. "And who decided that!? Last time I check, I don't need your permission to do whatever I damn please. I would have finished the Angel off if you didn't feel like being a flashy show-off and stealing my kill! So why don't you do us all a favor and fly back to the sky because all you are is just hot air!"

"Whaaaaaat!? How dare you!?" Asuka yells. "Do you even know who I am!?"

"A brat who clearly needs daddy's belt." Adam spits out.

Misato just looks at the exchange and sighs. 'Those two are going to give me a headache.'

And that wraps up this chapter. I'm very excited to watch the final movie on Amazon Prime, this is gonna be great! I used bits from the movie while adding my own, but that should be fine, right?
