Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf Pack. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Sonic; Sega and a few others do.

Lupe impaled a Eggswat through the torso, the vibrant red and golden robot sparked as it lost power. It tipped over, falling into a pile of scrap. She stepped over it, turning to her clan mates as she pondered how best to win this war.

More Eggswats descended on the village, their crimson bodies reminded her of blood. Perhaps it was Eggman's sick way of mocking them, she didn't care. They had come for a fight among the towering trees and rolling hills, and she and her clan planned to give them one.

"CHARGE!" Lupe yelled, raising her spear as high as she could. "Let none of them stand against your fury!" Lupe screeched to all who would hear her.

Her spear found another Buzzbomber, carving the hellish bee like robot in two. It's remains dropped into the tall ankle high grass surrounding them. She turned to see the warrior from before facing off with a Eggswat with a shield as she retrieved her spear.

"Their surrounding us!" One of the warriors yelled to which was true at the very least.

Lupe held up her shield as lasers began to pour down around them. Eggman's forces rained on them like drops of snow, each as deadly as a stone would be if it had fallen upon them. Lupe didn't wish to call a retreat, not when they were busy trying to hold their ground against Eggman's forces, but she more than knew how expendable his army was.

'He can manufacture endless robots, we can't make endless people… Blast you, Eggman.' Lupe thought to herself as she sighed.

A retreat was tactically the best idea when she considered it. As quick as this fight started? It would end, they were outmatched, outgunned, and outnumbered. There was very little left to gain in this fight, besides their city, and that could be reclaimed or replaced.

Lives could not, and it wasn't worth throwing them away for the sake of honor.

"RETREAT, FALL BACK TO THE HILL!" Lupe yelled, bringing up her shield in time to block a stinger from one of the robots.

Her warriors turned to her with sheer confusion. That was never an order from her they had heard, they had never once considered it would ever be a command, they would ever believe she would I've them.

But she had, they respected her enough to obey the order, even if they thought her mad. Lupe would rather her men be furious then dead, however. It was enough for her. Lupe turned and slowly bean to retreat, trying her best to block as much gunfire as she could. Lupe blinked and questioned how best to make this retreat less costly, she cursed herself for having brought so many forces.

"We need to fall back, continue the pursuit to the hill." Lupe said as she cursed, hopeful this could be turned into a fighting retreat when it came down to it. "We cannot stay here, keep fighting towards the hill, don't give them an inch." Lupe yelled as she twirled her spear, eager to pull out of the city without many losses.

She was quite hopeful that this was going to be the start of a slow counter attack. They needed to step up their tactics, adjust their angle when it came down to it.

"I don't really think it will be as easy as you believe it is." She heard from one of the soldiers around her as they continued to slowly move up into the forest, their shields looking like leaves in the darkness. The fires of the burning village made Lupe furious, but she couldn't think of a good plan yet.

"We need to retreat." Lupe stated while she turned to address the other warriors in her army. "We need to return to the capital, make sure they do not breath our inner defenses." Lupe added as she turned to look around, unsure of what came down to it.

However? They had no options, if they were willing to fight this war to the last man? They'd be burned to ash a thousand times over, a fate that none of their number should have to endure. Then again? It was something that she needed to deal with more than anything.

However? This just meant they'd be fight tooth and nail which was something neither wanted to deal with. How could they deal with an army that outgunned them 20 to 1? It was something that bothered her more than anything.

Yet at the end of the road? She knew that wasn't liable to change anytime soon. If they didn't find a way to match his massive army? They'd end up ground into nothing.

She turned and retreated with her remaining men and as many civilians as she could. They had failed, but this wasn't the end of them, not yet.
