Chapter Two: In Which Meetings Are Held

"Are we still doing DA meetings this year, Harry?" asked Luna, who was now detaching a pair of psychedelic spectacles from the middle of The Quibbler.

"No point now we've got rid of Umbridge now, is there?" said Harry, sitting down. Neville bumped his head against the seat as he emerged from under it. He looked most disappointed.

"Our Defense teachers have been rather unsatisfactory, Harry. What makes you think this year is going to be any different?" asked Luna ethereally.

"Well. . . ." Harry said, shifting uncomfortably.

"The DA was never about undermining Umbridge's authority, Harry. You told us we could learn to protect ourselves from what's out there —"

That did sound like something he would say.

"— and Voldemort was coming for us. The battle at the Department of Mysteries did nothing but solidify that for me."

Neville spoke up timidly, "I — I agree with her."

Harry looked at the determined faces looking at him.

"I'll do it. But not because you guys are pestering me or anything, yeah? I'll do it because we're in this together! Voldemort sucks!" said Harry loudly, pumping his hand up.

Everyone cheered.

"I must say, Harry has always had a penchant for speeches," said Luna dreamily, pulling out her wand. "Accio Trevor!"

The toad zoomed towards her from somewhere.

"Here you go, Neville," she said. "Next time you lose something, I'll Summon it for you. That way, we can be friends. That would be nice, wouldn't it?"

She smiled brilliantly at Neville, who blushed.

"Potter!" said Snape nastily. "Come here!"

The DA had kicked off with a great start. They were now well over sixty members from various years, which was why Harry was understandably afraid of their new DADA teacher finding out somehow. Right now, after yet another Defense class where the DA members had excelled, Snape was calling him up to his desk.

"Yes, sir?" said Harry innocently.

"Everyone is doing good in my class," he whispered dangerously.

"Isn't that a good thing, then?" questioned Harry, feigning confusion.

"No. That leaves no one to mercilessly bully!"

"That's. . . . very honest of you, sir," said Harry, adding the last part out of spite.

"Its your fault, Potter!" accused Snape.

"Isn't it always?"

The surly Defense Professor was stumped by this answer. He agreed with Harry completely, but that would mean agreeing with someone, and that someone being Harry Potter. Oh, the horror!

"Harry?" Dumbledore asked.

A few days after the incident with Snape, Dumbledore had called Harry up to his office.

"Yes, sir?"

"Are you by any chance running an illegal student organisation within this school?" he asked, peering at him from over his glasses.

"Well. . . ." Harry shifted uncomfortably. "Are you going to punish me if I say yes?"

"Of course —"

Harry should have never listened to Luna and the guys when they wanted to restart the DA.

Dumbledore had been on the run the previous year because of the DA, so this was awkward, to say the least.

"— not. I was thinking of making it legal," he finished smartly.

"I'm sorry for doing this when it is clearly so — wait, what?"

"I was thinking of making it legal," repeated Dumbledore calmly.

"Oh," said Harry in a small voice. "Oh!"

Dumbledore only smiled genially.

"Have I ever told you that you are undeniably awesome, sir?" said Harry, grinning wildly.

AN: Who's uncomfortably honest and totally awesome? Well, I would nominate myself first, but Luna is a close second! Why would Harry not restart the DA? Was it just some revenge on Umbridge or was it an honest effort to give his fellow students a chance to protect themselves? I would like to think it is the latter, hence this chapter happened.

Roses are red, Luna is great.

Ron is Harry's mate.
