CHAPTER 7: 6 UNDERGROUND

╚═══━━━─── • ───━━━═══╝

Luckily, Sagi managed to get permission from Miryah to have a fun time with her friend Himiko but the reality is that they would be going to an abandoned warehouse far from the restaurant. Himiko would serve as her guide while Sagi remained steadfast throughout their journey. She admitted that she hasn't explored this area before, seeing it more empty and barren the more they are near their destination as she looks around.

"Ne, are we there yet?" Sagi asked presumably.

Himiko meanwhile looked back at Sagi and grinned. "Just trust me! We are nearing already..." She happily proclaimed.

After a few more minutes exploring in a rather dense thicket, they immediately found the place. It was more rundown than she could have imagined and inside was very dark.

Minutes passed the large entrance, a blue fire suddenly emanated from the inside, revealing various individuals, including Dabi himself.

"Welcome, welcome! We are glad that you came!" Dabi said with such 'enthusiasm'. It was then followed by an awkward silence as all of them awaited to breathe out. Sagi just widened her eyes at the spectacle.

Then it was broken with a jubilant clap that came from a man that was fully clothed in a bodysuit. When all eyes were focused on him, he immediately silenced himself. It seemed that Himiko and Sagi were the only ones that were amused.

Then a rather middle-aged man stepped forward trying to be friendly with open hands. He then fixed his smoked glasses as he appeared to be studying Sagi.

"So this is the one you are referring to Dabi, eh?" He said as he looked down to Sagi's foot and up to her hair, His hands still buried in his pockets as he leaned forward slightly. Sagi could feel herself being uncomfortable being stared at, especially when he started to grin.

"I don't know what Dabi found in you but you are just perfectly bland… a mundane, normal civilian." He teased then his grin turned into disappointment. "Are you even capable of doing dirty things?" Sagi felt offended when that man added to his conclusion then he turned toward Dabi with an inane expression.

"I don't know where you find her but if I were to recommend… she's not totally cut for the job." He concluded. Instead of becoming affront with the man, Dabi instead smiles ear-to-ear. "That's a waste then…" He sarcastically said while raising his arms in defeat. "Why don't you try to get rid of her, Giran?" He challenged.

Sagi felt her heartbeat skipped, even though she thoroughly believed that this was just a test. Himiko meanwhile wasn't happy with Dabi's reckless decision.

Sagi looked at Dabi and found him looking at her directly, hinting at something and then back to the middle-aged man named Giran. Giran just squinted at Dabi, suspiciously knew that Dabi was just testing him and he somehow calculated that this involves the new girl's quirk.

Giran just sighed and then looked back at Sagi. "Very well then..." and slouchy raised his left arms out of his pocket and then aimed at Sagi's forehead. "This will be a quick, little girl and don't run." and began walking toward her.

Sagi felt alarmed, sweatdropped at the immediate threat. She immediately gathered her breath and then exclaimed. "Don't you dare touch me, you pervert!"

An invisible wave struck Giran and made him freeze on the spot. All of the other individuals, including Himiko, were dumbstruck as they witnessed a 'quirk' in action. Giran was trembling, as he tried to reach toward the girl's head but apparently found his body refusing the call. Sagi meanwhile just remained on the spot, unsure of what was happening.

Really, Giran forced himself to grab the girl's head out of frustration but felt as if invisible strings wrapped around his body, pulling away from the girl. With one bad tug, Giran felt his muscle in his left hand ripped away and found himself kneeling down before the girl.

Urgk! What a powerful ability indeed!

Giran commented in his mind in unbelief as he tried to catch his breath. He just found out that he was already perspiring already. He just made himself a fool, for believing this girl to be nothing but ordinary and for accepting Dabi's challenge.

Still wobbling, Giran forced himself to stand up and held his self-injured arm as he realized it was numb and then grasped it when it inflicted him with a sudden pain. "A-Alright, you are something else, girl… with that 'villainous' quirk!" He huffed in thrill as he tried to explain.

But alas, Sagi just tilted her head in frustration. "Pardon?" The only thing she remembered was telling him to back-off and that's it. She just didn't know why he was convulsing recently.

Giran was confused and attempted to explain when a hand patted his injured arm, grabbing his attention slightly, when he looked back he was met with a deranged smile of Dabi. "I'll take care of this right now..." he said before he pulled him back in order to attend to his arm. One by one, the other individuals begin to approach her with amazed expressions.

"That was a great quirk, sis!" a rather large and muscular one greeted her with a wave.

"Uhm, thanks?" Sagi was unsure.

"That was rather mundane I say but nevertheless congrats!" Another one who looked like a lizard said, with his arms crossed under his chest. Sagi doesn't know if he was complimenting her or not.

"U-um, you will control me, right?" The one who was in bodysuit said in fear, and in an exaggerated position; He was greatly interested but his arms were wrapped around his body comically.

"I-I don't… I promise." Sagi said with enthusiasm.

"Yey!" He tried to hug her right away but otherwise didn't want to.

At first, Sagi thought they were intimidating, especially when joined Dabi. She thought that they were here to hurt but after that little spectacle with Giran, she felt the pressure lifted instantly.

"Guys! This is Sagi Onako and she will be joining us from now on!" Himiko introduced her to her teammates. Sagi was shy from being the center of attention.

Overall, everyone was thrilled because they would have one more individual to join them. After the meet and greet, Dabi firmly pushed others away as he made his way toward Sagi. How rude.

Then he gave Sagi a calling card, accompanied with a grin. Sagi wondered what it contained as she took it.

"This is the address?" She questioned as she looked down the paper and then toward Dabi with curiosity.

"Yes, go there on a specified date… and better not show it to everyone or I'll make sure you're dead!" He warned before he retreated and walked away before anyone could question his motive. Even his teammates were baffled by his actions. Sagi attempted to answer him with a yes but he was just too rude to take notice. Sagi just pouted in annoyance.

While his back was turned, he eventually stopped for a moment. "From now on… you'll be known as Mass Hysteria!"

Cue silence and then another round of applause. They deduce that she might be this her first time being a villain and must have been honored to be chosen a nickname by none other than Dabi.

Sagi meanwhile was just as baffled as she was.

"Eeeehhhhh?"

The day she will meet the villains is perfectly her day-off and Himiko seemed to become a patron in Miryah's restaurant every single day. It doesn't matter how many bowls she eats as long as she can see Sagi. It seemed that Himiko's day wouldn't be complete without seeing Sagi at least once.

Himiko and Sagi join together once as they travel toward the specified location and reach a mundane normal building. Sagi half-expected it to be a fabulous villain lair and when she shared this thought toward Himiko they both laughed.

They found themselves in a small-time bar, with its bartender a man of, well made of purple mist. Its two hazy yellow eyes looked straight at Sagi with curiosity. Sagi just waved at him enthusiastically, before the purple mist man just looked away and continued cleaning the utensils.

All of the other individuals she met back at the abandoned place were also present here, which some of them wave back.

A deliberate cough caught the attention of Sagi and realized it was Giran himself. He was leaning by the column, grumbling and was urging her towards the door. Sagi nodded at him while Himiko was now ordering a drink from the purple mist man. Sagi wondered what Giran wanted from her. Giran then opened the door and then entered the office. Sagi immediately followed suit.

Arriving at the room, Sagi found Giran sitting behind the desk, eyes judging Sagi while his hands clasped together. He then started smoking.

"Please have a seat." He said as he pointed at the chair at the front of the desk. Sagi obeyed. With his open hands, Giran urged her to present her arms and she promptly obeyed. Giran immediately reached out and found himself being pulled away for due reasons and then it seemed the pain from his left arm started again and he found himself grasping it in due pain. Thankfully, the pain seemed to be more lenient unlike the other day.

Sagi was immediately alarmed. "Mister, a-are you ok?" She stood up and tried to reach for him but Giran stopped her from approaching him.

"It's alright… " he insisted but still grumbling. "Your quirk was really something, isn't it? Still persisting even for several days." He was quite interested.

Sagi was unsure of what she should say as she retreated back to her own seat. "Yeah, I think so."

"If you may, can you deactivate it right now?"

Sagi was thinking for herself deeply for a moment. "I'll try."

Seeing the uncertainty in the girl's eye, Giran retracted as he changed his mind. "On the other hand, just don't."

Sagi then just looked up. "Eh, really?" Giran nodded, it felt as if he dodged a bullet for some reason.

"Let's change the topic..." Giran then clapped once, the pain flaring for a moment but he endured. "What can you tell about yourself?"

Suddenly, Sagi was struck with nervousness as she coughed deliberately, it was obvious that she can't state the truth no matter what right now. "Uhm well, let's just say I'm just a good ol' civilian… just like what you said." accompanied with a nervous laughter. Giran's eyebrow just rose in suspicion.

"Ok…? " Giran retorted then chuckled. "'Beautiful answer' I daresay but no that's not what I meant.'

Sagi just blinked. "What do you mean?"

"Girl, without Dabi backing you up, I could just easily kill you on the spot and that's being mercy… trust me that you don't want to deal with other villains that are worse than Dabi."

Sagi just gulped from the dread but did her best as she could pretending that she didn't care. "You're trying to dissuade me from being a villain, am I right?" She challenged him.

Giran just cleared his throat and looked at Sagi with a troubled expression. "So you don't want to back out from this deal?" He cautioned her.

"What do you mean? I thought you would kill me?"

"If you are not being backed by Dabi do remind you and also, that's just an expression. In order to become a professional, you need to have an ounce of ethics to operate nonetheless." Giran explained. "However, seeing that you are steadfast in your conviction, then I welcome you to the club." Giran spread out his arms.

"..." Sagi looked at him uneasily. "I… I expected that." Hesitation tinted her voice. "Then I can now leave, right?"

Giran just nodded and Sagi immediately left from her seat. As she was nearing the door, Giran added something.

"There will be no backing out once you open that door, you will permanently be a villain, as what society sees you and how you hide your persona or not is now up to you. Trust me that it would not be easy but if you live another day… well that would be damn interesting."

Sagi just ignored the added connotation and eventually opened the door.

"The people will be unforgiving and judgemental. Heroes will dive upon you once you are discovered and you don't think I do not know your relationship with Himiko-chan? That doesn't matter anymore. She'll just hurt you one way or another. Our job is not a walk in the park in the beginning."

"Please stop talking as if I didn't experience that before… I know too damn well what you are trying to imply and with my friendship with Himiko? Why do you even care? Is it because of her 'quirk'? Is it something else? Even if she will hurt me I will keep on enduring it as much as I can." Sagi looked straight at Giran coldly then proceeded to exit the room without even waiting for his reply. She can't afford to betray Himiko, her friend, no matter how she will hurt her if that reaches the point. She's confident that Himiko was vastly different from Cutthroat after their first encounter.

Giran just sat there as Sagi eventually closed the door, looking at it, wondering what's with the deal with that girl and then just sighed. Somehow, she made his day more interesting. No wonder why Dabi was interested in her.

Giran then stood up and straightened his back as he lit up a cigarette and huffed. He is damn sure to be invested in Sagi's progress. At the first glance, he might have treated her as a new leaf but the longer they talked, the clearer his interpretation of Sagi; she might have already experience the corruption of the unjust society, that she might have already faced the executives, and finally, the idea that the girl might have already killed someone a long time ago.

Giran then reached into his pocket and then switched off the voice recorder containing Sagi's testament. It doesn't hurt possessing some of the proof of that girl, seeing that she's a complete mystery among them, and having zero traces of her identity on the internet. She might have been under an alias but still her picture doesn't even exist! It only took an extremely professional hacker to wipe out her existence on the internet. This only made Giran more interested in the prospect of Sagi.
