CHAPTER 8: RED NOTICE
╚═══━━━─── • ───━━━═══╝
Sagi couldn't deny that she might have become a full-fledged villain as she walked out the door. No, there is no hesitation. This is her decision. She will become a villain.
Villain for what? For the people? For Himiko? For Miryah and her child? Sagi was still undecided.
…
…
…
Of course. She's not an outright villain but the group she has joined definitely has vibes of being capable of hurting innocent people. What should she do when they reach that actual scenario? What if she was forced to hurt innocent people too?
..
…
…
It's a very dangerous idea but Sagi decided she will act appropriately on the spot. Sounds ridiculous and stupid but that is what Sagi would do. Delusional indeed.
Dabi stared at her intently and Sagi was forced to give him a wary look. Dabi just raised his arms and was making himself look unarmed.
"Calm down and also welcome to the club, Mass Hysteria." He grinned. Even Himiko brought a party popper and just plopped it, sending confetti around, some landing on Dabi's ruffled hair, much to his annoyance.
Meanwhile, Sagi was frowning. "Can you please don't call me that."
Dabi just waved his arm. "That's your moniker right now, Sagi-san. Helps in covering up your true name. The scarier, the better." he grinned.
Sagi wanted to argue more but settled in the end. Dabi was still cleaning up the mess that settled on his hair and Himiko was already sweeping away the confetti off the floor.
"Also, we had your mask being prepared." Himiko added.
"What mask?"
"To hide your identity, silly!" and right after her teasing, Himiko already produced her a mask. It was composed of a toothy grin, smiling beyond belief. All in all, a comical mask that served to hide her face that well.
For Sagi, it doesn't look bad. Of course, she wanted to wear a cutesy mask but she understood that wearing attention-grabbing things, heroes would go straight to her immediately. It was better for her to play her cards on the sideline.
Sagi took it from Himiko's hand and wore it across her face. It was suspiciously fit by her face.
Then she looked at Himiko suspiciously. "Himiko, did you or did you not measure my face without my permission?"
All Himiko did was to whistle innocently. "So is it good?" Instead of answering her straightly, she instead asks for her opinion as she was giddy.
Sagi just sighed. It did not take her a few minutes to figure out that Himiko might have been the one who suggested this design. "Yes, I think this is cute."
Himiko beamed and blushed like crazy. Immediately, she put on a large mask that covered the entirety of her lower neck, barely covering her mouth. It was designed to look like rows of teeth clamped together with some tooth exteriors sticking out.
"Look, look! We are totally the same!" Himiko cheered. She hated the large mask for its ugly features at first but seemed to reconsider when Sagi now had a matching mask together with her.
Then she pulled Sagi together, cheeks to cheeks. Sagi was easily flustered. Himiko already prepared a camera.
"We are now Blood Sisters!" the flash goes off.
Sagi shifted her attention toward Dabi. "So since I've become a villain, don't you think I need some training?" Of course, the prospect of having your body beaten black and blue was so terrifying that Sagi thought it was strictly necessary and Sagi was ready to be trained.
Dabi just clicked his tongue and chuckled. "That's the neat thing! You don't..." he then crossed his arms underneath his chest. "At least after the mission."
Sagi's eyebrow raised. "What?" Sagi didn't expect that she might be thrown straight to her first mission as one of the villains of the organization. She just hoped it was just some minor assignment where she wouldn't be heavily involved, but the way Dabi was looking at her teasingly told her that it might not be the case.
It seemed that Himiko sensed Sagi's discomfort. "No worries, sis Himiko will also be there for you!" Even being playful, Sagi was at least a little relieved.
"Obviously, you and Himiko would work together in tandem." Dabi thought of it.
"Yay! Blood sisters!"
Sagi thought it wouldn't be too bad. At least, Himiko will be at her side.
It was now night as Sagi realized when they had arrived at the destination. Somewhere that has thousands of woods stretching so far. There, she could see that Dabi was overlooking, an ever-grinning mouth plastered on his face. The sky was already littered with stars, enough to identify the others.
Himiko, with her already large mask, wore.
Another individual wearing some kind of a school uniform with a green gas mask.
And a huge, intimidating guy with a tattered cloak.
Here, Sagi felt closer to Himiko of all things. She might have accepted that other villains are horrifying at the best but she still didn't expect them to be this menacing.
What Sagi gleaned from Dabi's information was that they were only sending a warning flare, and that they wouldn't commit a full blown attack unless all of them had eventually gathered. She also felt underprepared, with nothing garbed in a tracksuit with the mask provided with Himiko. Overall she looked awkward to look at.
"What's the deal with this brat here?!" The tall, intimidating man said as he pointed at Sagi, who promptly trembled a little. She hated the attention given to her.
Dabi was just madly chuckling. "Heck should I tell you but I warned ya… one word and you would be her slave."
Sagi just maintained eye contact at the tall man's mask, hoping that it would be enough to dissuade the man from escalating any conflict further.
The intimidating figure just maintained his vigil silence. "Wise." Dabi commented.
Sagi was sweating profusely. She knew what she was getting into and yet it seemed some other parts of her were not prepared yet.
Dabi returned his gaze toward the forest, particularly the large building at the distance.
"Once we attack, we will make them realize that their peaceful lives will end." He said ominously.
"For the sake of a better future."
To Sagi's general knowledge, the tall man was just itching for some fight, sort of reminding her of Brawler, with the way how he was already shaking in anticipation and muttering something that was annoying Dabi.
The costume some of them were wearing were a courtesy of the underground costume designer fit for their purpose; Mustard's to avoid sniffing his own gas, Himiko to suck some blood and apparently her's has a built-in speaker for a broader coverage of her 'quirk'.
"Shut the fuck up you psychopaths..." Even Sagi took offense from him, even if it weren't directed to her. "We're not starting this mission until..."
At that moment, a few more arrived. Some of them were familiar to Sagi. Others are as terrifying as the intimidating one, especially the one that was drooling with only his teeth showing. She wondered if it is some kind of a disturbing fetish that she has no knowledge of.
And then Dabi started, how he had gathered the most experience or how their quirk was the most useful in this situation and how the heroes' peaceful lives will end at night. Sagi was really trying hard to listen but with these speeches and motivations of villainy, as what she describes, she just found herself not interested.
The only thing that piqued her interest was that they were paired together with Himiko, who proceeded to glomp with her cheek-to-cheek.
"Yay, blood sister once more!"
"..." Sagi did not utter any word but she was just happy she wasn't paired with other terrifying villains.
Sagi and the rest of the villains waited until it was dusk, a perfect time to enact their ambush. Again, she was not under the perception that they were all goodie groups and that there is a possibility that they can hurt and kill some heroes for the sake of the ideology. She's no blind that she has taken a difficult, deadly and challenging path for some reason.
The only thing she hoped was that it wouldn't escalate as bad as finding a corpse but Dabi assured her that heroes and villains are not easily beaten as she thinks.
Their mission was to collect some blood samples of some of the heroes that they might encounter. It might be just a simple task and yet Sagi could feel it very complicated.
The others were already at work;
A burning forest from her left. The crackling of the fire and the smell of burning indicated its already started.
A gaseous mist from her right.
They have made the heroes already trapped.
And here, the two of them froze as they approached some of the targets. Sagi could sense that Himiko was grinning beneath her mask as she eyed the two girls, presumably heroes in training.
One was just a simple girl while the other looked like a frogThey, too, were frozen just like a deer in the headlights.
"Heya, let's be friends!" Himiko was the one who started the conversation as she waved at them as if it was just a mere coincidence. The two girl heroes flinched upon her response. And then, she brought out a knife.
"Hey sis, watch me defeat the two of them!" Himiko said toward Sagi as she began the assault. Sagi was relieved a little that she would be indirectly involved in this combat. One stroke is all she needed as she managed to wound one of them as they split away.
"Guh!" The wounded hero did not expect Himiko to be this fast. Even Sagi was just as surprised as them, knowing that Himiko was good at fighting.
Himiko paused her fighting instinct as she observed the stained blade. "It's too shallow." she said as she eyed it carefully.
"What the hell is wrong with you!?" One of them said with a panicked voice.
Instead of answering their response, Himiko just outright introduced herself. "Hi! I'm Toga by the way..." and then her hand wandered toward Sagi, which made the heroes' eyes follow to Sagi. "...and this is Sa-Hysteria, Mass Hysteria." Sagi flinched when Himiko almost slipped her tongue.
Sagi just gave Himiko a glare that made Himiko scratch the back of her head. "Whoops, sorry!"
Sagi couldn't imagine that this would be her first task. One of them really give her a glare too.
Then Himiko pointed her knife at the two pairs of heroes-in-training. "Urakawa..." then she pointed to the frog-like girl. "Asui…"
Both of them flinched when somehow Himiko knew their names.
"We need more blood and I'd normally have to make a big-big wound and suck all you dry..." Himiko was serious as she retrieved a blood sucking needle. "But with this machine, all it needed was just a simple wound and then suck suck suck… so please be nice and stay in one place"
While Himiko was already running to them. The frog-like girl named Asui chose to wrap Urakawa using her tongue to throw her away from the reach of Himiko. Sagi never thought that Asui's prehensile tongue had such strength to hold a person.
...and for some reason, Urakawa's destination was toward where Sagi was currently standing as an audience to Himiko's starting fight.
"Crap~!"
"Crap!"
Both Sagi and Urakawa cursed as they were about to impact each other but luckily, Sagi did not waste her time standing awkwardly at them. Urakawa tried to aim a punch toward Sagi's mask, who simply evaded.
Sagi and Urakawa then simply were having a stand-off, much to the former's dismay.
"Good job, Hysteria!" Himiko even had the guts to cheer when she was still confronted by Asui.
Urakawa was warily looking at Sagi and at the same Sagi was suspicious already at Urakawa. WIth this kind of standoff, Sagi was sure they might be wasting the time.
Sagi thought it might be time for some kind of a stupid diplomacy.
"L-look can you just give us some amount of blood and then we would let you go and help the other heroes." It sounded stupid but Sagi hoped it would work. Even Himiko wondered why Sagi was acting weird.
Instead of answering, Urakawa was already moving and engaged Hysteria.
The fight goes on.
