"Roy?" She answers in confusion, pausing at the steps of the school.
Since when the fuck did he call her?
She waves Jane and Janice off as they turn back to watch her.
"-swer Mal, you need to get to the med lab. Now. Evie-"
Her heart slams against her chest as she drops her phone before she turns and darts.
She needed to get to the med lab.
Now.
Panic.
She'd never heard Roy panic-
But that had been fucking panic!
Panic and concern.
From fucking Roy.
Roy.
The kid who did nothing but play too much.
What the fuck happened to E!?
What happened to their princess!?
It had been four fucking days!
What the hell could've possibly happened?
She ignores the disgruntled shouts and huffs as she barrels through people in the hall.
One thought.
One goal.
One fear.
Evie.
He groans as he opens his eyes, blinking in confusion at the blinding light shining in his eyes.
What the-
"Jay!?" Two concerned voices greet him before shadows block out the brightness.
His nose and throat were on fire.
His chest ached.
His head was pounding.
"Where?" He questions, not even recognizing his own voice.
"We're at the hospital." Nani quickly explains.
"You scared us bad, brah," David adds as he leans against the rail of the bed.
"Sorry." He shakes his head before he looks around.
He wasn't sure if he'd ever been this thirsty in his life.
Nani disappears.
And he desperately wanted to get the weird taste and the dryness out of his mouth.
David shakes his head, "You're alright. That's all that matters." He sighs.
"Here," Nani returns quickly with a bottle of water. "This should help."
He nods as he holds his hand out.
Fuck, it felt like he'd been training with T for hours without a break.
Everything hurt.
He takes the bottle and downs it, grimacing at the grit in his mouth as he swallows.
"Here." Nani holds out another bottle and a cup.
"How did you guys, I thought," He shakes his head as he sits up, "Nani, I thought you got pulled under too."
She shakes her head, "Just you." She frowns as she eyes him in concern. "Now, rinse and spit."
He obeys without question, swishing the water around in his mouth before he spits it in the cup she was holding under his lips.
He runs his tongue around his mouth for a few seconds before he shakes his head, "It must have been a dream or something." He sighs before he reaches out and pulls Nani into a hug, "I thought he'd gotten you too." He admits as he closes his eyes.
David's eyes sweep over him critically, "Him?"
He releases Nani as he turns to David, "I thought I saw, but it doesn't make sense. He wasn't red. But his voice, I thought I heard him laughing."
David and Nani share a look, "We didn't hear any laughter." Nani frowns.
"But we did see something red," David adds as he grips the bar of the bed.
Why did red seem so scary to him?
And the voice?
He knew it had something to do with Jafar.
He fucking knew it.
He'd just been hoping it was a nightmare.
His eyes widen before he swings his legs over the side of the bed and pulls at the tubes and wires touching his face and arm.
"Nope-" Nani presses a hand to his chest. "Don't even try it, brah." She states firmly, "Your uncles are currently scouring the beach. If anyone can find whatever this was, it's them."
David nods, "Gantu and Jumba are adept in locating and tracking. If anyone can figure out where that red thing went-"
"It's them." Nani finishes.
"It's Jafar. It's him. He must have gotten out with Maleficent." He shakes his head as he tries to hide his grimace from Nani's hand pressing against his chest, not that the stupid alarm was helping, "He's a genie again or something. He always said red was a color of power, because that's the kind of genie he was."
Nani and David share a concerned look.
"Shit," David curses before he steps back to eye the hallway through the window.
"I can't stay here." He shakes his head.
"Bull shit you can't." Nani crosses her arms, "You're in no condition to do jack shit but hurt yourself."
"Please, please, I have to get to my pack. I have to know they're okay." He reaches out for her again, "Please."
Nani bites her lip as she studies him before she looks up at the ceiling, "Kai, help me." She takes a hesitant step back, "Don't you dare take off without us."
"I won't, just, please, I have to know. Maleficent made it here, and Jafar. What if Evil Queen and Cruella are here. I need to get to them."
"The nurse is coming." David sighs as he steps away from the window.
Nani sighs before she grabs his bag, "Get dressed. You ain't running around the school in a hospital gown."
He looks down to find a thin gown instead of the wet suit he'd been in.
"Thank you." He nods as he pulls the tubs off and out of himself.
"Yeah, mother of the year, right here." She blows a stray hair out of her face, "And hurry before you give yourself another panic attack."
He just nods as he pulls on pants and a shirt before he slides out of bed.
Nani nods in approval before she turns to David, "I'll deal with the nurse. You two go on ahead. I'll call a taxi or whatever."
He hugs her tightly for a heartbeat.
It meant a lot that they weren't fighting him on this.
The need to go protect his pack.
"Thanks, Kane." David pecks her cheek before he puts a hand on his shoulder and guides him out of the room. "Breathe." He whispers. "We'll be there soon."
"Working on it." He gives him a thumbs-up as they walk through the hallway.
David eyes him, "Mhmm." He nods his lips tight.
"Why? Why try to kill me the way he tried to kill Aladdin? Why not mess with you and Nani?" He whispers to himself once they make it to the stairs, "I'm glad he didn't, but it doesn't make sense."
"Don't know," David grimaces, "That's a Cobra question."
He pats his pants down, grimacing when he realizes he doesn't have his phone.
And to think only a few months ago he hadn't even known how to use it.
He sighs.
"You can use mine once we jump in the car."
"I'm so sorry." He hangs his head as he takes the stairs, trying to not pull too far ahead of David in his panic.
David's silent as he races behind him. Once they hit the level, he pants, "Don't be dumb." He rounds the corner.
He smiles, "At least it's not running up the stairs."
"No shit," David breathes out heavily. "I'm too old for this crap."
He reaches back and takes David's hand before he continues, needing the contact as well as hoping the gesture was encouraging.
David squeezes his hand, but was too busy huffing to offer any words to go along with it.
When they get to the ground floor, he peeks out the windows before opening the doors, "Which way?" He whispers as he looks around.
"Fuck," David looks around. "Uh-" He pulls out his keys and starts hitting a button until they hear several beeps.
He takes off in that direction instantly, nearly crying when he sees the car's flashing headlights.
"Almost there." He assures David.
"How are you the one who almost drowned?" David wheezes.
"I can't feel anything right now." He explains honestly.
"Fair," David breathes as he hops into the car, "Don't tell Nani."
"I will do everything you tell me to do and will not complain. Bed rest, whatever. I promise."
"Try to buckle then." David huffs as he takes off like the bat outta Hell Hall.
He quickly snaps his buckle in place before he reaches over and does the same for David.
Yep.
So, Jay's awake.
Mal's flying through the school like a bat outta hell hall.
Evie is passed the fuck out.
Roy is paniced as fuck.
About sums up this chapter don't it?
LoLz Pain and Panic.
Who misses those little imps?
This chapter was short, but there was nothing sweet about it.
What do you think is gonna happen next?
Anyone missing?
Yeah, that's right. I know. Where are they?
Clearer picture of what the fuck is going on?
