Hey Descendants,
Pennance chapter!
Thank you for understanding. We can't tell you how much it means that you are still here and reading this.
Hope this helps, that last chapter was another hell of a cliffhanger.
And thank you for bearing with us as we all navigate life.
Where ever you are-
Whatever you're doing-
Just know you're awesome! And appreciated!
And people who don't agree suck anyway.
Lots of Love,
-Dark-
He slams his hand on the table.
"Gotcha." He jumps to his feet.
Too long.
That had taken way too fucking long.
But he'd found it.
Found their Chibi-chan.
He hits send, knowing his wife would soon follow him before he races out of the ship and smacks his hand against the panel.
He could fucking kiss Go-Go right now.
He jumps on the motorbike, and haphazardly throws on a helmet.
It wasn't particularly his favorite mode of transport but it was the fastest.
The helmet's GPS guides him to the location as he twists and turns through alleys and streets.
Anything he could do to cut the time.
"Hiro," Baymax's voice crackles over the helmets speakers, "I have locked onto Carlos's life signs. His vitals are dangerously elevated."
He literally leaps from the bike, letting it skid away as he races to the doors.
He growls when he finds the steel doors barred.
He had tools to cut through it, but-
Time was a valuable thing.
He glances up.
Ground floor windows.
He races towards the fence before he jumps.
He covers his face as he breaks through the glass. "CARLOS!" He shouts as he races to the door and busts it open with a powerful kick.
His heart aches at the scream.
The pure terror of it.
All thoughts of anger drain as he looks around frantically.
This room was-
What the fuck was this?
Blood rushes from his face when it clicks.
Tannery.
He was in a-
"NO!"
Carlos's voice makes him turn.
He growls as he starts kicking down doors.
One after another.
He didn't give a shit if someone came.
He wanted them to know where he was.
That someone was here.
That someone was coming for them.
Coming for Carlos.
The rooms were getting darker.
Smaller.
Smellier.
But Carlos was also getting louder.
Only one door was shut in this hall.
Bingo.
He kicks the door in.
"I'M NOT YOUR SON!" Carlos screams as he throws himself against a cage.
His chest aches at the pure terror.
Pure fear.
Pure panic.
He runs across the room, not caring about the smell.
The trash in his way.
He kicks the empty cages out of his way.
Flips a table out of his way-
All to reach Carlos.
Fucking crate.
He swallows the growl as he looks Carlos over, ignoring for now the fact he was shirtless and filthy, "Chibi-chan." He whispers as calmly as he can, "I need you to back up, can you do-"
"NO! STOP!" Carlos throws himself at the cage again, "I'M NOT YOUR SON! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
His chest tightens as he grimaces.
Please, he prays to any god that was listening, don't let that be directed at me.
"Chibi-chan," He breathes out, "Just-"
Fuck this.
He couldn't take it.
Couldn't take his screams.
And it wasn't like he wasn't already in a state.
He frowns as he stands up, and looks around the room swiftly before his eyes land on-
Fuck he didn't want to know-
And didn't care.
He just knew it was good enough.
He races over and scoops up the tool, before he bounds back to the cage.
He jimmies it between the bar and the lock.
"Please!" Carlos screams again.
He ignores the pang in his chest as he kicks down on the wedged piece of metal, sending the lock flying.
"Chibi-chan," He whispers, "C'mon, time to go." He carefully steps back.
He was no David, Nani, or Cobra but-
There was no way grabbing him was a good idea.
"Noooooo!" Carlos cries as he tries to run, his freezing hands pushing against him in a feeble attempt to knock him away.
"I don't think so." He scoops him up over his shoulder.
"I'm not your son!" Carlos shakes his head as he weakly punches and pulls, twisting in his arms and kicking.
He grimaces, ignoring the pain, both physical and emotional, as his eyes sweep the room.
Thank fucking god.
He scoops up the cage with his free arm, "Sorry Dude."
"Please!" Carlos begs as he falls limp. "Please."
"We're gettin' you outta here Chibi-chan."
"Please." Carlos whimpers, "I'm not your son anymore. Please." He cries, "please. I have a mom and dad now."
His chest suddenly loosens, and just like that as he's able to stand straighter.
Kicks he could take.
Punches to the face?
No problem.
But the vehement yelling that he wasn't his son?
That was going to haunt him for a long time.
If nothing else, he was absolutely positive they were both going to be having nightmares about this shit hole.
He continues walking afraid of saying anything to set him off again.
Afraid to cause him more anguish.
Terror.
Pain.
By the time he steps out of the building he smiles at his wife standing in front of the ship, gun at the ready.
"H- Hiro?"
"Chibi-chan," he whispers gently. "You're safe now. Just- We're almost to the ship."
Yeah, there was no way he was putting this kid down.
His little flight risk.
"Hiro?" Carlos calls out again, his voice still cracked and raw, but stronger this time
"I've got you buddy," He readjusts him, so he was resting on his hip.
Carlos blinks at him, "Hiro!" He shouts as tears spill down his face before he finds himself shackled by the kids legs around his waist and arms around his neck.
"Missed you too," He chokes out.
"She's here." Carlos shivers against him, clinging harder as his cries turn to sobs.
"I'll take care of it," He promises. "Take care of her. She's not touching you again."
He walks up the ramp, Lilo slowly following so her back was to his.
"She has Dude!" Carlos suddenly twists, "Wait, she had Dude. She's going to make ear muffs out of him and a jacket out of me."
A-
He blinks.
A fucking-
She was going to- He swallows his growl as his grip tightens around Carlos.
"Chibi-chan, breathe." He whispers as Lilo secures the ship.
Carlos hiccups before he buries his face against his neck again, muffling the sobs he didn't seem to have any control of.
Not that he could blame him.
Lilo's back was stiff with her silent concern as she takes the crate Dude was in from him.
"Thank you," He whispers.
She nods, "Won't take but a minute," She smiles sadly before she sets the crate down and rushes off, coming back a moment later with bolt cutters.
He watches as she frees the pup, nodding in appreciation before he walks over to settle Carlos on the plush bench, the one they'd talked on so many times.
When he can't unlock Carlos's legs, he simply sits with his back to the wall careful to give him space.
He lets out a soft whistle and pats the space on his other side. Dude yips before quickly bolting to them.
"You're both alright," He says, trying to breathe evenly as he rubs Carlos's back, "I promise."
Carlos buries his hands in Dude's fur, leaning across his lap as Dude licks his face.
Lilo gasps when she turns back to them, her eyes wide with horror as she covers her mouth.
He looks her over in concern.
What was she-
But she drops her hand, her jaw set and glassy eyes narrowed in a fury that he'd never seen in his carefree wife's eyes.
What the fuck?
Where the shit did that look come from?
"You're okay Dude." Carlos whimpers as he runs his hands over the dog. "You're okay. You're okay."
Lilo's fists curl by her side before she turns on her heels and walks away stiffly.
He frowns when she comes back several moments later with-
His eyes widen.
What the fuck was she going to do with that?
She shakes her head before she hits the button to open the ship, the door hissing open and shut behind her.
Kay…
Even for his neurotic wife, that was terrifying.
She looked like she was out for blood.
What the fuck had that been?
He got it.
He really, really, really, got it.
But- that wasn't like Lilo.
And as much as he wanted to follow her- He didn't dare leave their son either.
He swallows a sigh.
It wasn't like Lilo couldn't take care of herself.
Not with the heat she had just walked out of the ship with.
He looks down when Carlos shifts and curls into him.
"I'm sorry." Carlos whispers as Dude settles along the side of his leg.
"Hey now," He runs his chin over his hair, "None of that." he whispers. "It's not your fault."
"I told her to leave me alone." Carlos shivers as he presses closer, pulls Dude to his lap to curl around.
"Chibi-chan," He breathes, this kid was killing him.
And he didn't even know it.
"I know this is-" A fucking shit show, he sighs.
What the fuck was he supposed to say?
'Your moms out there vaporizing that bitch?'
"I- I couldn't tell if she was real or not." He admits as another shiver rips through him.
He rubs his back- but freezes when he feels rough slick ridges under his palm.
He closes his eyes, taking a deep breath.
As if anything could prepare him.
He moves his hand to Carlos's head and pushes him down gently.
His eyes widen in horror at the scars carved into his back.
Scars currently slicked with fresh blood.
He takes a deep breath, before he immediately presses Carlos against him tightly.
"Dad?"
"Mhmm," He was too afraid to actually open his mouth.
Carlos pushes against his chest.
"Nnuh," He murmurs as he keeps him there.
The last thing Carlos needed to see was his face right now.
Lilo's murderous intent suddenly made a fuck ton more sense.
"I'm sorry." Carlos freezes before his arms drop to his sides, "I'm sorry."
He wanted so fucking badly to reassure him.
To say anything.
But he truly didn't trust himself to control his tone.
To keep the venom from it.
So instead he just hugs Carlos to him tighter.
"I- I was so scared." Carlos admits before he wraps his arms around him again, "I'm sorry."
He closes his eyes, counting back from twenty as he swallows the acrid bile crawling up his throat.
David and Nani were going to be so disappointed with him.
Them.
They so weren't handling this well.
"But, thank you. For wanting me. I remembered it. Remembered that you and Lilo love me." Carlos sighs as he shakes his head back and forth.
He blinks as tears cloud his vision as he curls around Carlos protectively. "Good," He manages to whisper. "Cause we do. Want you. Love you. So much it hurts."
Physically at the moment.
Viscerally.
His stomach was still turning.
Carlos tightens his hold on him before he suddenly stiffens, "Is everyone else okay?"
"They're safe." He couldn't bring himself to lie.
But over his dead body was he telling him the truth.
"Was it real?" Carlos shivers again, "I- was she really there?"
He's quiet for a long moment. "Real enough." His breath hitches.
"I'm cold." Carlos says in confusion, as if noticing it for the first time.
He nods, "C'mon," He shifts before he stands.
Fifteen years.
He'd been a fucking hero for fifteen fucking years.
But nothing could have prepared him for the warring emotions swirling in his chest.
The vortex.
He'd never wanted to rip someone's face off before. "I need Baymax to fix you up first, then we can get you warm."
Carlos blinks as he looks down at his hands, "Oh." He shivers again before he rests his head against his shoulder, "Okay."
"Thank you," This kid was going to be the death of him. He walks into his office, "Baymax," He calls out quietly, "Need ya buddy."
"Hello Hiro." Baymax greets as he inflates.
"Chibi-chan's been hurt." He explains. He looks down at Carlos, "Think ya can let me go for a second so Baymax can-"
Carlos shakes his head as his grip tightens.
"Fair," He looks up at the robot, "Patch what you can please."
"Of course." Baymax walks over, "Please remain still, I will scan you and then tend to your wounds. Do not worry Chibi-chan, you are okay now."
He's silent as Baymax carefully cleans and doctors everything he can reach.
"Would you like a lollipop?" Baymax offers when he finishes.
"Thank you." Carlos shakily takes the candy before he opens it and sticks it in his mouth.
He can't help his relief.
Thank fucking god.
He wasn't sure what he would've done if the kid didn't want the sugar.
"C'mon buddy," He walks to his and Lilo's room and looks around with some difficulty until he finds a hoodie.
Like fuck was he letting others see Carlos's back.
He was sure his pack already knew.
But the others?
He wasn't doing that.
He walks back to the bench, and sits. "One arm at a time then?"
"I can pull it on." Carlos frowns as he looks up, letting Dude jump from his arms to settle beside his leg again.
He offers him the best smile he can as he passes it over.
"I've upset you." Carlos frowns as he scrambles to pull on the oversized hoodie.
"No, I promise you, you really haven't." He places a hand on his head.
Carlos purses his lips as he stares up into his eyes, searching them as if he could easily read his mind.
"Not gonna say I'm not upset," He admits, "It's just not at you."
"Oh." Carlos nods slowly before he sits beside him, leaning his head against his shoulder as he grips his sleeve in one hand.
They both turn when the door hisses open, Lilo walking in with the gun strapped to her back.
Carlos jumps to his feet, "Wait, you- we're still here? You were out there?" His eyes were wide as he looks between them, one hand still clinging to his sleeve.
"We're heading back now Chibi-chan," Lilo offers with a small smile as she walks over to them, "Just needed to check on something." She adds softly as she puts a hand in his hair.
Carlos wraps his arms around her waist.
Lilo quickly hugs him back as she studies him above Carlos and shakes her head.
Fuck.
He sighs, why was nothing ever fucking easy?
Not that he wanted Lilo killing but-
It would've been nice to know Carlos was safe.
"Lets go please." Carlos whispers against her.
"Sure thing Chibi-chan," She runs her hand through his hair. "Let's get you back, kai knows your pack is worried about you."
Carlos nods against her, but doesn't move to let her go.
He smiles, "C'mon," He scoops Carlos up, "Wanna watch us pilot?"
"Yes." Carlos admits as his grip transfers to him.
"Next time we're out," Hrio smiles, "You can co-pilot, kay?"
"Next time." Carlos nods as he watches Lilo.
"Right," Lilo nods, as she walks over and opens a panel before she shoves the gun in it, "Let's get you home then." She smiles.
"School." Carlos corrects absently.
Both of them turn to him before slow smiles curl on their lips. Lilo darts over as they both squeeze him tightly.
"Love you Chibi-chan," Lilo whispers gently.
"I love you both too." Carlos admits as he hugs them both, "I was scared I wouldn't get to say it. But I do. A lot."
He meets Lilo's gaze, watching the flames blazing in them before she nods.
That's all he needed.
He was chipping their son.
"We love you too." They both assure him at the same time.
Lilo runs her hand over Carlos's hair one last time before she steps back, only to pause.
He looks down and tries his best not to snort, when he sees Carlos's vice grip on her shirt.
How?
How the fuck could anyone ever want to hurt this kid?
Oh thank fucking god, right?
They found him!
Feel free to hate us in the comments still tho...
This one was super hard to write. Getting into those head spaces? Carlos's terror, Hiro and Lilo's rage. It was hard to pull ourselves from it.
But, look we're not complete monsters!
Hiro totes got to him before anything could happen.
Disappointed Lilo wasn't able to find Cruella?
Anyone else angry that no vengeance was had for our fave pup?
Fuck if Hiro and Lilo were not livid over the state of C's back. Add that to an OV had their son crated and it's a fucking shit show.
It's gonna be a long while til any of them get decent sleep, but I mean for real can you blame them?
Carlos clinging to Hiro is life.
Lilo dead set on killing people was just mwhaa. Loved it.
Fave Quote:
He wasn't sure what he would've done if the kid didn't want the sugar.
-Hiro
Seriously, if Dark had written Carlos shaking his head and ducking into Hiro's shoulder or some shit, I'm not sure what Hiro would've done. So, thank you Dark.
What was your fav?
Much love and shit,
