-Dark-

Magic.

He wasn't a fan.

Such a thing was the norm here.

That didn't mean he had to like it.

It was a source of frustration he could do nothing about.

Several of his associates had offered to teach him the basics, some even insisted on it.

He just didn't have a taste for it.

Trust it.

And this was exactly why.

Those kids-

PTSD wasn't even broad enough to cover what those kids were going to experience while the perpetrators were roaming free.

He turns and eyes the Kawanii's.

As much as he hated to admit it, he could, objectively, see what had pulled David and Nani so deeply into this… Situation.

And by proxi, him.

He was in it now.

Willing to drop everything he was working on to throw himself into the protection and mental healing these kids not only needed, but deserved.

His eyes sweep to Lilo.

She'd been an easy case compared to what they were working on together.

Auradon's villains were a different breed.

And the fact they hadn't been sterilized before being put on the Isle had been a large oversight on it's governments part.

Even villains would love their children.

Propaganda used to keep civilians complacent.

He couldn't blame Adam for leaving the Isle in a council's hands.

On the surface it would seem like a good idea.

A group of people having to talk about every situation that came up, no one person making decisions based on the past.

No one person using their power to exact revenge.

Oh yes, he'd read the notes on how the council was formed and why Adam had approved it.

However, corruption bred corruption, and if there had been even one snake in the den- The whole of it would be poisoned.

Uncertainty.

Fear.

Bitterness.

Everything the council had been formed to prevent.

He was familiar with all of it. Used to it.

In the many fields he'd served it always boiled down one to two ways.

The first and more prominent was what they were currently facing.

A war.

In this case one literally of good and evil.

The problem with that was figuring out where the lines began to blur.

Sometimes, in order to beget good, you had to do something deemed evil in the most basic of senses to accomplish a goal.

He should know.

He'd killed more than his fair share of up and coming 'villains'.

The other less prominent result of power?

Peace.

Unity.

Acceptance.

Rare. But often involved some shady under dealings.

It seemed he'd found himself in a unique position.

One he hadn't been expecting when his presence had been requested.

"There was magic on Jay, Evie, and Carlos. Magic on the apples, but only prominently on the one Evie bit. I wasn't able to get much from the beach, but the ropes you saved had magic on them."

David and Nani both nod from where they were standing, mirroring Lilo and Hiro, who were both leaning against the wall with their arms crossed.

Serious.

Somber.

So unlike the Ohana he'd come to love and respect.

"There was magic all over the building Carlos was found in as well-" Janice closes her eyes, "Especially in the room-" She shakes her head as her voice cracks.

"Where fucking Chibi-chan was crated." Hiro growls between clenched teeth.

He was used to the hero being a hot head.

But it seemed Carlos's safety had set it blazing

Janice nods.

"The guards on duty were found unconscious." Adam states, "They were looked over, interviewed, and then-" He looks over to Janice.

"I found magic on them as well." She confirms.

Adam steeples his fingers as he nods his head somberly.

"So, we have three children attacked in manors resembling the actions their former parents have taken before, and a sleeping spell that I'm pretty sure we're all also familiar with."

Shang turns to Fairy Godmother, "What of the scrying you and your prodigy's performed."

"We were able to locate Maleficent, right where she should be. And Jafar-" Janice shakes her head, "I will need more time to pinpoint his location, but he is nowhere near Auradon, and doesn't seem to have moved since we first located him."

Hiro nods, "We," He looks to his wife, "can check it, if you give us the coordinates."

Adam holds up his hand, "Would you mind taking a passenger with you?"

"Depends on the passenger." Hiro frowns.

"Genie, Jordan's father has offered to help in this matter."

Lilo nods, "It probably wouldn't hurt to have someone proficient in magic come with us."

"There's more," Janice says when Hiro shifts as if to leave, "the biggest problem is that I can not locate Evil Queen or Cruella."

Mulan frowns, "Evil Queen is versed in magic, is there a chance she's shielding the two of them?"

"It's possible," Janice slowly admits before she shakes her head, "but I'd also like to rule out them being on the Isle, which I will need my wand for."

He frowns.

Magic.

How unreliably chaotic.

David frowns, but it's Shang who speaks up next.

"We will come with you." He states after sharing a look with his wife. "We were already planning to check on Jafar's lamp. Maleficent targeted you, there is nothing to prove the others won't either."

Janice nods before she turns to him, "As far as what happened with the kids, I know you have a different theory you're working."

He nods, "I'm not convinced the perpetrators of these acts are their former parents." He states.

Adam's brow furrows, "Because of the attacks on them previously?"

"That," He nods, "And the fact none of the adopters were targeted." He turns to David and Nani, "Both Kawanii's were present upon Jay's attack. It would have been just as easy to drown them." He frowns, "And more painful for Jay. Same for Evie with Snow and the apples. The only apple to have a harmful spell on it was the one Evie bit. And as painful as it was for Carlos to endure the room he was in, using him as bait to take out the people who adopted him seems more in line with these villains."

He continues.

"They've been targeted before by a faction still unknown to us. There is a chance they are using Maleficent's escape as a scare tactic to convince these children they are now safer on the Isle where their parents are no longer present."

Adam's eyes narrow, grow darker.

His fingers turn white where they're pressed together.

A low bestial growl leaves his throat.

"I am grateful," Belle's soft tone was so opposed to her husbands current overwhelming emotional state as she places a hand on his back and continues, "to have so many highly trained and specialized talents helping us track down whomever it is that means these children harm, and glad to hear we have the leads we do to fully investigate the situation."

"I agree, and appreciate your efforts," Snow speaks up for the first time, standing from the seat she'd been sitting in to turn to him and the Li's with a nod, "We, Florian and I are forever in your debts." She turns and looks over the Ohana leaning against the wall, and then Janice and Robin. "All of you. We are very much out of our depths. So to know we have such brilliant people looking out for our daughter- Just thank you."

Adam takes a deep breath before he stands, "Anything you need to do, just do it and I'll deal with the fall out. I want to know who is attacking these children. And I need to know as soon as possible."

"Understood," He states, the Li's echoing him, with an added sir.

Adam turns to Robin, "I'd appreciate your hawks being added to the school's premises."

"Glad to be of assistance. These kids are something else if they've managed to get through to Roy the way they have. I haven't gotten a phone call from him once since he started school, but-" Robin shakes his head, "I've never heard him so scared for someone else, or so determined to protect them."

Adam nods, "Thank you. They're a lot less notable than drones." He shoots a pointed look at Hiro.

Hiro shrugs, "Drones are faster and more equipped with wea-"

"It's a school." Lilo shakes her head.

"Which is why I've allowed them in strategic, hidden locations at a safe distance from the school." Adam concedes.

"The guards clearly need back up." Hiro frowns.

The Li's nod. "We're on that."

"As am I," Janice nods.

Adam takes a deep breath, "I'm not going to lie to this room, Ben is going to have a hard road ahead of him. And I'm not going to be able to argue this. But I know the next move from the council is going to be using this attack to question if it's safe for any other children to be brought over."

He turns to Hiro, "The debate you held helped to keep one prominent member tied up."

"Just give me the list and watch me own some bitches." Hiro nods with a confident smirk.

Belle lightly claps, "It's about time."

Snow nods, "I can make sure they stay sensationalized. It's the least I can do."

Adam sighs, "I- I would like to thank you all. As the elected king of the United Kingdoms of Auradon, I have, far too often these past few months, found my hands tied on many accounts. It is not something I like currently, but I do understand the necessity of limiting the power of my position." He shakes his head, "No one should have all the power, but I am having my lack of knowledge and experience of twenty years ago rubbed in my face. So, thank you for the support as I work to correct those mistakes."

Snow and Belle both share a look, "We are working on the current Queens to reign back the restrictions of those of the council that hail from their kingdoms." Belle explains, "Though the previous generations are pushing back. It's not much, but it's a start."

Belle turns to the Li's and him, "Any allies you can bring to the table would be much appreciated." She turns to Hiro, "And any pull you may have with the nations you've endeared yourself too." Her eyes land on Robin, "And I can only assume-"

"Those of Sherwood are with you. My wife and I have found ourselves very much in those kids' debts." Robin nods.

Adam nods, "It's a good start."

He looks around the room again, weighing the amount of sway most of the current occupants possessed.

It would have to be enough.

For now.

He nods, "Janice, Generals." He gestures for the door, every intention of joining their trip to the museum.

The sooner they had more to work with, the better.

These kids had been through hell and back.

The kids still trapped on the Isle, were still living it.

Neither of which he could abide.

Shitz gettin' hot real quick.

These guardians aren't fucking around.

Like at all.

It was interesting writing this scene. Some of these characters we've never explored or had on screen. So, they may have come off a bit… Flat? It's hard making so many introductions at the same time.

Yet, everyone in this room is such a big player.

How do you think we fared?

Did you like seeing it from Cobra's PoV? OR do you wish we'd done it from anothers?

What do you think of Cobra's assessment?

Because if he's right, then where the fuck are Cruella and EQ?

Jafar?

Any guesses?

Again sorry to say no fave quote.

But, I will say I thoroughly enjoyed the fuck outta this chapter.

Did you?

Much love and appreciation,
