"How do I look?" Lark asked, tilting her head.
"Lovely." Lloyd smiled. He was leaning against her couch as she got ready, he was so patient.
"Thank you." Lark smiled, though soon she was frowning. "Uh, won't we draw attention?" She asked. "I mean... you're the Green Ninja... hanging out with a lowlife."
Lloyd sighed and said. "I guess so. We'll just have to try and be low, not like we're doing anything bad anyway. Just two friends shopping for books, also dont say that about yourself. You're no lowlife."
Lark nodded. "Of course, you're right. Why wouldnt you be right." Lark grabbed her bag and smiled. As she put it on her back. It was just a small dark purple backpack with sparkles over it. "Let's go, Greenie!"
"Greenie?" Lloyd repeated with a laugh. "Okay, Song Bird." The two exited Lark's house and began to make their way to the local book store. The two conversing quietly.
It was a rather uneventful walk, no spooky frost they had to run away from. They got along so well it was almost scary, it was also surprising with their different personalities.
"I dont believe in fights." Lark sighed. "But unfortunately not all conversations can save the world. Especially ancient prophesied ones. It just saddens me to see all this bloodshed." Lark expressed. "I just wish Ninjago wasnt so aggressive."
Lloyd gazed at Lark and looked to the ground, his hands slipping into his green hoodie. "I wish it was more peaceful too." Lloyd admitted. "It's... exhausting, but you're right... not all villians will turn just because something right was said to them. Morro was different. He just wanted to mean something to Wu, and when he found out he did, it's like he snapped back to place. Skylor needed Kai to give her a talking to and to be shown that her father didnt care, it's interesting how your greatest allies... just needed to hear the right thing."
Lark blinked and said. "Are you good friends with Morro now? You're close to Skylor." She observed, hopping over a crack in the sidewalk as she spoke.
"Sort of? I wouldnt go out of my way to see him, but I also wouldnt be paranoid I'll get killed if I turned my back on him." Lloyd shrugged. "I could care less what he does with his life in The Departed Realm."
Lark looked up at the sky. The Departed Realm. She looked back straight ahead and said. "It's odd."
"What's odd?" Lloyd pressed gently, looking to her.
"Thinking of everything, you train nonstop. You battle almost every year, sometimes more. Do you ever worry about your own future?" She asked. "What if one day you fall in love? You'd have to spend time with them and train."
"I'm spending time with you." Lloyd pointed out.
"Yeah, because Wu is distracted with having both Stone and Misty." She scoffed. "I just worry you dont have enough free time."
Lloyd shrugged. "It's hard, but I have enough free time. That's all that matters to me."
Lark and Lloyd feel silent and soon they reached the Bookstore. "Hope and Love." Lloyd read out the name. "That's a weird name."
"Most money they earn goes to children hospitals." Lark explained. "Now come on in!" She smiled, opening the door and holding it open for him.
Lloyd slipped in and Lark did soon after. "Alright. What do you like?"
"Erm..." Lloyd stammered. Lark was just going straight for it. "Sci-fi? Action? Fantasy?" He answered, uncertain.
"I can work with that." Lark grinned. "Let's go hunting! We'll tackle chapter books first then we'll look at comics if we cant find anything."
"That sounds like a good plan." Lloyd nodded.
Lloyd followed Lark around the bookstore like a lost puppy dog as she walked through the aisles. She knew this by heart.
"Hello, Lark." An employee greeted her. "Already ready for some more books?" The employee asked.
"Hey, Melony, just about, I might pick up the next book in the series." Lark smiled. "But I'm actually taking my friend around to get some new books. He's looking to get into some new material and isnt sure where to start."
"Hi th-" Melony cut off when she recognized Lloyd, but she did her best to play it off. "Hello there! I'm Melony. If you need any help just give me a call, but Lark is an amazing customer, she basically has the store memorized so you shouldnt have much difficulty." She smiled to him.
"Thank you." Lloyd dipped his head, he was quite unsure of how to respond to that.
After a few more moments of conversing with the employee and Lloyd just awkwardly standing there the group finally seperated.
Lark brought Lloyd over to the Sci-fi section and pulled out a book called 'Hollow Light'.
"This book is about the last ever human to exist that was taken in by another species that lives in space. They care for him and they teach him of their ways and he teaches them of human ways. They also have to deal with other dangerous space creatures and the creatures learn so much about each other. It's a great starter book for getting into this genre. It's full of action, and emotions, and so much space!" She smiled. "It wasnt my favourite but definitely one I'd recommend to others."
Lloyd took the book from her hands and ran his thumb over the cover art and flipped through the pages slightly. It sounded interesting. "Sure. I'll give it a read." He smiled.
"Perfect, let's get another in the Fantasy section from a different series and you'll be set for a bit and it can help you find which you prefer." Lark led Lloyd to the fantasy side, her slightly tripping, making Lloyd shoot his hand out to grip her arm and keep her steady. "Thanks." She giggled slightly.
Once they reached the Fantasy section she scanned the spines before pulling a book out. "This book is about how everyone in the world had powers, all except one person and they have to learn to make their own powers to blend him, lots of science, but a good teaching book. Full of twists and surprises. I loved it."
"I'll give it a shot." Lloyd smiled.
"Perfect, let's check out and return to the Monastery and see how Misty and Stone are." Lark grinned. "I miss them."
