Chapter 11

Shadow Possession

The Battle continued.

Ruby vs Emerald

Jaune vs Cinder

Nora and Ren vs Hazel

Weiss vs Vernal

Yang vs Mercury

Qrow vs Raven

Oscar vs Lionheart

Dawn vs Monika

Hiroki vs Kiryu

And Shade vs Yuki.

Hiroki and Kiryu were fighting above them all, each clash pushing the two back from each other.

'Damn it, who is this guy?'

Hiroki thought to himself.

Kiryu landed on the second floor of the building and aimed his gun at Hiroki.

Hiroki readied to dodge the attack.

Kiryu shot fast.

Too fast as Hiroki was shot twice in the chest, damaging his aura and causing his semblance to flicker.

Hiroki swung a blade beam directly at Kiryu.

He quickly dodged and jumped to the side.

"Nice try but all to predic-"

Hiroki flew directly towards Kiryu.

His aura glowed in his weapon as he jabbed it right into Kiryu's shoulder.

Hiroki pulled his weapon out.

A bit of blood was dripping from Hiroki's blade.

Kiryu glared at Hiroki.

"Don't get cocky kid."

Kiryu aimed both weapons at Hiroki and floated back above the others.

Hiroki flew above them as well.

The two clashed once more attempting to overpower the other.

While this happened Dawn was dealing with the seemingly invincible Monika.

"What are you?"

Dawn said while trying to keep calm.

"You can't harm me."

She swung her scythe at Dawn.

Dawn quickly ducked under it and swung her ax at Monika's feet.

The weapon bounced off her and Dawn jumped on the second floor.

Monika's scythe latched onto the second floor and she used the chain to throw herself to the second floor.

Dawn immediately shot at Monika who just walked to her.

"Why wont you go down?"

Monika smiled and moved her sleeve up to reveal pure grey skin.

The skin turned back to normal color shortly after.

"My semblance blocks damage, it's way better than his, that's for sure."

She pointed at Hazel with her scythe.

Dawn looked at the wall behind her and sent a spirit string into the wall behind her.

The string was injected into the wall.

Dawn quickly ran past Monika.

"Well trying to escape?"

Monika turned towards Dawn and she immediately went behind Monika again.

"Ok now I'm confused. Did you hit your head or something?"

Dawn jumped back.

"Your specialty is taking no damage."

The string glowed with aura and was wrapped around Monika's neck

"Mine is assasination."

Dawn pulled the string and part of the wall was sliced.

Monika's neck turned grey and the string snapped.

Dawn's eyes widened.

Monika felt her neck and looked at her hand.

It was a little red with blood.

"Well look at that you actually were able to hurt me a little."

She glares at Dawn.

"You're going to regret that."

Dawn prepared to defend against whatever Monika threw at her.

While this was happening…

Shade was trying his best to strike Yuki but she kept dodging him.

And while Yuki was unable to hurt Shade due to his defensive abilities she was still faster than him.

Shade was pushed back several feet from Yuki and Yuki just glared at Shade.

"It would be easier if you would just fall like your friends will."

Yuki said.

"And it would be easier if you got out of my way so I can put an end to her."

Shade said with venom in his voice.

Yuki just smirked.

"Oh and why do you want to kill her?"

Yuki slashed at Shade and he put his shield up.

"For justice? For revenge?"

Shade slashed at her and she quickly jumped back.

"Or for your own benefit?"

"Shut up!"

Shade shot at Yuki with both his weapons.

Yuki dodged each shot and threw her aura daggers at Shade.

He held his shield up and blocked each of them.

"You're not denying any of this."

Yuki smirked.

"Is it because you know what you want, they don't like?"

Shade's eyes widened.

"I said shut up!"

Shade jumped at her and slashed at her with both blades.

But right before they hit a loud shout was heard from Ruby and light from her eyes hit everyone.

When the light cleared Shade looked around.

He felt strange his aura glowed black for a moment then he heard a crash.

Shade turned and saw Dawn knocked onto the first floor by Monika.

Monika jumped down from the second floor with her scythe up prepared to stab Dawn.

Shade quickly aimed his blade at Monika.

His aura and shadow went inside the blade as he threw it.

Right before Monika struck Dawn the blade hit her pushing her into the wall.

Dawn quickly stood up and looked at Shade.

He nods at her.

She nods back.

Suddenly a blade went straight through his chest.

Shade looked behind him and saw Yuki with her dagger in his back.

"The queen said bring you alive, not how alive."

She whispered before pulling the dagger out and kicking him into a wall.

Shade looked at everyone and right before he fell he saw Cinder throwing a spear at Weiss.

His eyes fell as he fell onto the ground.

When he opened his eyes again he was in a pitch black room.

Shade looked around and looked at his arms.

His gauntlets were gone.

"Where am i?"

Shade said to himself while looking around

'You're in the shadow scape.'

Shade looked around

"Who said that? Show yourself?"

'Open your eyes.'

Shade shook his head and when he looked ahead of him he saw a large wooden door and a cloaked figure in front of it.

"Who are you?"

The cloaked figure opened the door.

"Answer me!"

The figure walked through the door making Shade run through it.

When Shade walked through it he saw something unexpected.

His younger self in the orphanage reading a book alone.

"What is this?"

The cloaked figure was behind him.

'I told you about the Shadow scape.'

Shade swung his fist at the figure but it passed right through.

The figure walked towards the younger Shade.

'Why is it you're alone i wonder? Is it because you want to or because no one wants you?'

"Shut up!"

Shade tried to punch the figure when suddenly a chain restricted his arm.

"What?"

Suddenly the area returned to the pitch black setting as Shade tried to pull the chain off his arm.

'Don't you see?'

Shade glared at the figure as several more doors appeared.

'Your loneliness.'

The door with him alone in the shut down orphanage was attached to the chain.

'Your failures.'

A door opened revealing the destroyed body of Penny.

A second chain wrapped around Shade's other arm.

'Your guilt.'

The third door opened revealing Cinder turning Pyrrha to dust.

A third chain wrapped around Shade's leg.

'And your fear.'

The last door opened and revealed the picture of Team SHDE.

A chain wrapped around his remaining leg.

The ends of the chains were attached to the dark floor below him and were starting to drag him down.

'Don't you see all of these things are holding you back?'

Shade just glared at the cloaked figure

"What do you want from me?"

'What I want is of no concern to you. But I know what you want.'

Shade slowly started to sink into the ground, his body being consumed by the darkness below him.

'You want revenge against her don't you?'

Shade didn't respond to this.

'All you need to do is let go and you'll survive'

Shade remained silent.

'Or you can fight and die?'

The figure looked down at Shade as he slowly sunk into the darkness below him.

Shade pulled against the chains constantly trying to break out.

'If I fight I die but if I let go I survive?'

Shade thought to himself looking at the chains.

'I hope I don't regret this.'

Shade remained still as the chains pulled him into the darkness his eyes switched from purple to black.

Dawn and Hiroki saw their fallen teammate in shock.

"One down."

Kiryu said, looking at Shade.

Hiroki takes advantage of this and grabs Kiryu's face and slams him into the ground in his enhanced state.

Monika walked towards Dawn.

"Shame your friend had to sacrifice him-"

She was interrupted by Hiroki throwing Kiryu at her.

He was unconscious and Monika threw him into a wall.

"Finally a worthy challenge."

Hiroki looked at Dawn.

"Go help Shade."

Dawn nods and runs to Shade.

Yuki stepped in her way.

"Sorry but I can't let you pass."

She smirks a bit.

"Guess I'll have to cut you down."

Yuki ran at Dawn who immediately ducked and ran towards Shade.

Dawn turned and saw an aura dagger heading towards her.

She responds by using her strings to attach to the dagger and throws it back at Yuki.

Yuki jumped back.dodging the dagger.

"Interesting."

Yuki said to herself.

Dawn ran towards Shade as she did, everyone's shadow moved ahead of her to Shade.

"What it th-"

Dawn was interrupted by a pillar of shadows emitted from Shade.

The force of it could be felt through the room as the pillar broke a hole in the roof.

"This is different."

Dawn said as the shadow piller vanished.

Shade was standing with his head back.

His aura was visible but it wasn't normal, it was like his shadows.

Shade leaned his head forward and his pupils were pitch black.

Ozpin saw what happened to Shade through Oscar's eyes.

"Shadow Possession."

AN:I had these characters I made over a year ago and only one of them had their time to show off what they could do in Volume 4. The plan was to show just how powerful each of Salem's council were in a way to show just how out matched certain fighting styles are. Shade's been training since he was young and the cause of this made me think with all the hardships he has gone through it was to lead to something big. I planned this Shadow Possession form for a while now and I'm so glad to show it off. We're getting so close to the end and I'm excited to show off this new Shade.
