Asleep

Disclaimer: I don't own anything…at all.

A/N: I'm not really good with these one shots, but I like writing a story and just leaving it, instead of updating and updating. I think it shows with some of my WIP's. I know it's short, but hope you like.

The warmth that had encased her whole being lingered around the area where she was lying. Her bed - the only thing in her household that was never used a lot - creaked slightly as her light frame moved ever so slightly. Eyes closed, mouth parted slightly, Sara Sidle slept for the first time in four days.

The duvet, which she had wrapped around herself acted as a barrier to the harshness and evil of life. Its soft smooth material caressed her pale skin, her chest rising ever so slightly with each slow intake of breath. She looked peaceful, the lines of worry gone, her beautiful features more prominent as her face relaxed as she slept. The nightmares gone for now, she hugged herself as she slept; her arms wound themselves round her slim frame. She needed reassurance, sleeping was when she felt weak.

Her eyes fluttered ever so slightly, her dream making her concentrate on something other than work. Sara Sidle the workaholic needed a break. A quick nap wouldn't do. She had curled herself into a ball, her legs bent at the knees. The bed that occupied her looked almost new, the wood was a rich dark oak; it settled itself against her wall, the elegance of the bed gave her bedroom a homely feel to it.

A soft sigh escaped her parted lips; it was a sigh of pleasure, a sigh of peace. There was another world now, a world where Sara Sidle could live her life in peace, the memories of so long ago forgotten. She could get on with her life, her dream world was a much better place, and nothing went wrong. She could do as she pleased there.

She shifted again, turning on her right side, curtains closed, her bedroom was encased in darkness, her small frame was slightly outlined. Her bedroom door shut, silence consumed her house and bedroom.

There were times when Sara would wake up; hoping just that once that she wouldn't be alone. That some strong body would be next to her, holding her while she slept, cuddling her while she was awake. Sara Sidle didn't want to be alone forever. She wanted to be loved.

A tall figure quietly let himself into her house, laying the keys down on her tabletop, he kicked off his shoes and rid himself of his jacket. Slowly he made his way to her bedroom and smiled as he watched Sara sleep. She looked content and peaceful.

He stripped down to his t-shirt and boxers and settled himself in beside Sara, the bed dipped as his weight was welcomed.

He watched her sleep for a few minutes, kissing her parted lips he held her through her sleep. The feeling of someone holding her was the first thing that Sara noticed.

"Gil.." Her voice groggy from sleep, she tried to turn over. Strong arms held her where she was.

"Shhh honey, go back to sleep."

A soft kiss to the forehead was the last thing she registered before she fell back into the perfect world of sleep. She had finally found someone to wake up beside, once she had been lonely…but never again.

The End
