He waited until he could no longer hear the footsteps, before allowing himself to groan in pain, he was sure that both of his legs were broken now, he could feel parts of his suit melted on his skin, creating immense amounts of pain every time he made even the slightest movement. Barry let his eyes fall closed and the darkness take over him, it was easier that way, pretending he wasn't there, that he was dead, rather than embracing the pain he was experiencing. His eyes quickly snapped open again though, when he heard what sounded like a door creaking open behind him. "Please no," he whispered under his breathe, he had not yet been tortured so close together and he didn't think he could take it, he needed sometime to recover. The sound of someone moving gradually became closer and closer and he squeezed his eyes shut once more, mentally trying to prepare himself for the agonising pain that was about to arrive.
"Barry?" A voice called out from the darkness. The speedster grimly laughed to himself that voice sounded exactly like Cisco's, he was losing it his mind was playing tricks on him. The footsteps got even closer,
"Barry?" This voice sounded like Caitlin's; he couldn't deal with this right now. He groaned loudly, wishing he was able to cover his ears. The footsteps sounded like they were running towards him now, he listened curious, the person who always tortured him, always walked in a calmly fashion, never seeming to feel the need to rush anywhere. Focusing more, Barry thought he could make out three different sets of footsteps not just one. His heart leapt into his throat pounding. The thought that his friends may have found him popped into his head before he could stop it. "Barry!" A voice exclaimed, and then, right in front of him Caitlin appeared. She had tears in her eyes and a look of immense relief on her face,
"Cait?" Barry questioned, he tried to work out if this was real, she seemed real. He tried to reach out to touch her, forgetting that he couldn't. He let out a cry of pain.
"It's okay, we are going to get you out of here hon, I promise," her voice was gentle and caring, just like he remembered it being. He was still unaware of how long had passed, but it was obviously long enough to cause Caitlin to cry in relief of finding him. Suddenly Cisco and Wells appeared in his line of vison to,
"Hey man, glad we found you," Cisco said, before he and wells began to take off his bindings. Barry let out a low chuckle,
"I'm glad you found me to," he croaked out, his voice horse from lack of use and the potential breakdown he could feel building. Before he knew it, he was free to move and the meta cuffs had been removed, he could feel his speed healing kick in and he let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. He was going to heal; his pain was going to stop.
With Caitlin on one side and Cisco on the other, with Wells leading the charge the group helped Barry out of his prison. As soon as they stepped outside the light hit the hero's eyes and he was blinded, it was so incredibly bright. Caitlin handed Cisco the keys so he could drive back, and she climbed in the back of the van with Barry, quickly pulling out some of her medical supplies that were kept in the van for emergencies and getting to work on the hero. The van chugged along at a steady, but fast, pace and Caitlin busied herself with scans and cutting off parts of his melted suit to get a better look at him. Wells was in the front with Cisco and so all Barry could see was Cait, and at the moment she was Dr Snow. He was aware that his injuries were extensive, he could feel them. But it felt like he had been gone for ages and he felt alone, right now he needed his friend more than his Doctor, "Cait," he spoke softly, she stopped what she was doing to briefly glance at him. She did a double take, however, when she saw the tears well up in his eyes.
"Hey, it's okay, we've got you know, your pain will stop soon, and it will all be over," she said gently. Barry nodded, trying to be reassured by her words, despite himself though, he felt a few tears escape his eyes and he chocked on a sob that was trying to make its way out of his throat. Sensing that Barry needed a friend right now, Cait quickly put down what she was holding and moved to perch on the end of the bed that had been installed in the back of the van for situations similar to the one they were in now. "It's okay," she told him again, gently taking his hand into her own. He seemed to relax a little at this action and Caitlin gave him a soft smile, he attempted to return it, but it seemed to come out more as a painful grimace. The two sat there silently for the rest of the short journey back to Starlabs.
Flash
"This is going to hurt," Caitlin stated, before putting some of his bones back into position. Barry let out a cry of pain, squeezing down hard on Cisco's hand. Caitlin had already pulled off his melted suit and applied a cream, which in his opinion, hurt like crazy, and she had already fixed his hands, which also turned out to be broken. The speedster could feel his stomach turning and he felt like he was going to throw up, but he hadn't eaten in a while, so he didn't even know if that was possible at this point. Beads of sweat ran down from his forehead and he shook ever so slightly. "There it's done," Caitlin declared as she finished setting the last couple of bones.
"Thanks," Barry croaked out, his voice was still weak and shaky.
"Here man, eat these," Cisco handed Barry a few of the calorie bars he had made him as well as a bottle of water. Hungry, Barry inhaled the bars and chugged the water down, He briefly felt better but then his stomach flipped, and he thought maybe it hadn't been such a good idea, he leaned over the bed and threw up on the ground. He started at the mess he created for a moment,
"I'm s-sorry," he stuttered,
"Hey, it's alright," Cait said reaching out and rubbing his arm gently,
"I'm going to get a mop," Cisco said hurrying out of the room quickly,
"How about you lay down and rest a little bit, Joe and Iris will be here soon," Caitlin told him, helping him ease down so he was lying on the bed. Barry nodded and closed his eyes, thankful that he was in Starlabs.
