What if, when Naruto was conceived one of his parents was Gabriel's vessel? How would a naruto how is a half archangel handle his ninja career? How will the nine tail's power react with Naruto's grace?

Requirements

I feel that with what we know about angels in Supernatural Half angels are much weaker then they should be. especially compared to half demons. So with that in mind, a strong Naruto would be nice.

Naruto is still the Nine tail jinjuriki.

Grace has a unique effect on chakra (This could be a new, never before seen nature. It could make chakra/Jutsu more powerful. it could change how jutsus work altogether, it could do something else completely, or it could do more than one is all up to the writer.)

Tricks of a certain fox - chapter 1/Carry on Wayward Son

-\/-

Naruto opened his eyes. One moment, he was standing over Sasuke's downed body and now he was in some sewers. In front of him stood a giant gate with kanji for seal in the middle.

"What is this place?" He asked. His voice echoed through the halls. "Look, I don't have time for this! I'm in the middle of the fight! That girl… boy… Haku just killed Sasuke! He must pay!" He finished with a snarl.

"Wow. You've definitely inherited your mother's temper." A mysterious voice answered.

"Who's there!?" Naruto frantically turned around, trying to locate the speaker. In a flash of light, a figure appeared before him. "Yondaime?"

"That's how you greet your dear ol' pops?" The now-identified fourth Hokage joked. In response, he got a very strange mix of screech, yell, and squeak. "Surprise!?"

"But…" Naruto wasn't sure what he should even ask. After a few seconds of silence, he finally bowed his head. "Why me?"

Now, Yondaime was many things, but he wasn't an idiot. "On the day of your birth, the village was attacked." He started in a solemn tone. "During the fight, both your mother and I were fatally wounded."

"I know. You've defeated the Kyuubi but died anyway. Everyone's heard the story."

"Well, I wouldn't exactly say died…" He began, only to be cut off by Naruto.

"You're alive!?"

"Well, no, but actually yes." The Yondaime before him changed in a flash of light. He still looked mostly the same, with long, blond hair and a handsome face, but he now sported a stubble. Instead of Hokage's robe, he now had a dark-green jacket and jeans. "It's a bit of a long story. Luckily, we have some time."

He snapped his fingers and the two of them suddenly appeared inside a bar, with Naruto nursing a glass of milk and his father something stronger.

"Whoa! How did you do that? Nevermind. Look, I need to get back. My friends are in danger! I need to save Sakura! And Kakashi-sensei will need my help too."

"Don't worry. I slowed time in here. It will seem like maybe a second passed on the outside."

"You can do that!?" Naruto asked in awe, only to receive a nod from his father.

"Okay, I said slowed, not frozen, so let me speak without interruption and save questions for later, okay?" Seeing his son was still dumb-founded, Yondaime took it as a good sign and started speaking. "The short version is that Namikaze Minato never existed. I created a body of an orphaned child and possessed it to hide from yet another apocalypse. My real name is Gabriel, the Archangel extraordinaire, Prankster supreme, Trickster unmatched. Which makes you a Nephilim. Anyway, when that trice-damned fox attacked Konoha, I had to improvise. Normally, defeating it wouldn't have been a problem if I used all of my powers, but… that would attract unwanted attention to your world. And some would take offense to your existence. You still with me?" He asked, looking at Naruto, who now had eyes open so wide Gabriel feared they might fall out.

"But… how… what… an archangel is like an angel, right?"

"Well, more like an angel is a watered-down archangel, but go off I guess." Gabriel chuckled. "I didn't want to get involved with family drama so hid. Except I couldn't just appear as an adult, even in disguise. It would attract too much attention. But no one would care to look closer at an orphaned child wanting a home. Not that it was a lie. I did want a home, so there is that. I actually came to love the village that accepted me. And there was Kushina, your mother. She was the best damn prankster I've met in a long time. Good times. It was our little secret that I've been helping her with more elaborate pranks. No one would suspect the quiet, studious Minato to be behind painting Hiruzen's hair neon green."

"I'm a prankster too! Believe it!" Naruto beamed. "I once painted the entire Hokage monument in broad daylight, wearing an orange jumpsuit, and wasn't caught until I was done."

"Atta boy! That's my son!" Gabriel was beaming now. "But yeah, back to the matter at hand. My time is running out. During the fox's attack, I had to improvise. So I summoned death and made a deal. He would seal the fox inside you, masking your identity and saving the village. But in exchange, I actually had to do a job for him. Something about tormenting two brothers for a bit."

"Masking my identity?"

"The Kyuubi sealed inside of you is there for your own protection." Gabriel lowered his head. "I'm sorry I couldn't come up with any better plan, but if my brothers or anyone knowledgeable enough figured out just what you are, you would've been in great danger. With you having that fox sealed inside you, no one would notice strange things about you."

"I see…" Naruto had a pensive expression on his face. On one hand, because of the Kyuubi sealed inside him, he was alone and villagers despised him. But… what was really the alternative? He sure didn't fancy whatever made his father have to hide. Yondaime was always his idol and anything that made someone so strong have to hide had to be dangerous.

"'Ruto? You okay?" A gentle hand on his shoulder brought the boy back to the moment.

"I'm trying to wrap my head around it all."

"I know it must be hard." Gabriel wanted to say something more, but the sound of bells tinkling in the distance made him pause. "My time is running out. He's getting impatient."

"What? Who?"

"I told you. I made the deal with Death. I was supposed to only have a few seconds with you, but I'm kinda bending the rules even now. Onto the important things: You're a Nephilim, that is half-angel. Archangel in your case. That means your chakra was replaced with grace. Grace is like chakra, but infinitely more potent. Hence, your chakra control sucks. But, on the bright side, you have near-infinite reserves of grace that, unless stolen from you, will regenerate almost instantly. Now, onto more important things. You have your own wings, so learn to use them." He bopped his forehead, causing Naruto to get a small vision of his father using wings to move around the battlefield faster than enemy shinobi could see. "I called it Hirashin to mess with my… let's say, benefactor."

"No way!"

"Well, wings are only part of it. The other is the amazing power that you've inherited from me. Chronokinesis, or let's say Jiton for simplicity. Time release. Sounds about right."

"I'm not sure that's how it should go…"

"Well, I call it that, so it's like that now." Gabriel dismissed the worry.

"Okay!" Naruto happily nodded. He was getting his own unique kekkei genkai from his father.

"Anyway, you can slow, accelerate, or even stop the flow of time. Either for you or for others. There is some science to that, but you'll figure it out on your own. You suck at genjutsu because you're doing it wrong. You can't just try to affect one sense. You're too strong for that. Your strength lies in creating much more complicated illusions. The kind that encompasses your entire surrounding." Gabriel quickly added when another tingling of bells echoed. This time it seemed closer than before. "Okay, I need to hurry. You're now what… ten, right?" He looked at Naruto with a critical eye.

"I'm fourteen, believe it!"

"Sorry. You're just so small. Your mom will have my head if you don't grow up properly so you better start taking care of yourself, okay?" He pleaded.

"I do. I eat my ramen every day."

Gabriel sweatdropped. "Okay, here." A book on healthy eating habits appeared in Naruto's hands. "Read it and use it well."

Naruto wanted to protest, but it was his father and his idol telling him that, so he chose to trust him.

"We're really pushing it, but whatever. You must promise me that you'll never try traveling through time. It's really important. It's a pain to fix and you won't like the effects anyway."

"I promise! Believe it!" At this point, Naruto was honestly feeling overwhelmed. But, like the number one unpredictable knucklehead ninja he was, he bounced back with incredible speed.

"Okay, so I missed fourteen birthday gifts… let's see. Here!" A black case with a set of nine silver blades inside appeared in Naruto's hands. "Your very own angel blades. You like double reverse-kunai fighting, right? This will be perfect for you."

The blades were silver and had straight triangular blades. The handle was slightly longer than that of an average kunai, but they had a similar ring at the end.

The bells seemed to be right behind the corner now. It was clear that their time was running out.

"Last three things. You'll have to figure the rest by yourself. First, the furball inside you is named Kurama and he's a Biju. He's grumpy and hates everything, but you can get in his good grace by playing pranks. Promise me to play lots of pranks. And make peace with him. Together, you'll be unbeatable. You'll be safe. Your mother is safe with me. Don't worry. We love you very much, son. Never forget that. We love you."

A flash of light made Naruto disappear. Gabriel looked at the space where his son was sitting just a moment ago.

"I hope you'll be happy…" The archangel sighed and turned to see the gaunt man in a suit with a black cane in his hand. "I know I bent the rules, but it was worth it. And what else exactly did you expect?"

-\/-

Outside, it seemed that not even a second passed. Naruto took in what was going on. Next to him, Sasuke's body was laid down, riddled with senbon. Haku was leaning out of one of the mirrors. Beyond the dome, Sakura was protecting the bridge-builder and Kakashi was having a stand-off with Zabuza.

Strange red chakra surrounded Naruto for a moment before retreating, giving space to the silverly-blue aura. From the seal on his stomach, a case of angel blades and the book fell onto the ground.

"What's going on with the brat?" Zabuza looked at Kakashi, who for once had no answer. The red chakra was obviously Kyuubi, but what was that silver glow now? Something was happening to the seal. Was part of it a storage seal too?

"I am sorry for your friend. I did not wish to hurt him, but you left me no choice."

"There is always a choice," Naruto growled, but he was still trying to wrap his head around the situation. What he has seen was definitely real, the proof of that was in front of him. He picked the case and took two of the strange kunai from the inside. Holding them in a reverse grip, he took a battle stance. He reached inside, searching for the feeling of wings that he remembered from the… whatever it was. He found them. They were there, just waiting for him to use them. He tried to flap them, to test how they work.

Before anyone knew it, he smashed into one of the mirrors behind him.

"Ouch… Note to self… I have no idea what to even take from here…" He deadpanned, causing Haku to smirk behind their mask. "Maybe this one instead…" He somehow knew how Jiton was supposed to work. He saw the world slow down around him. Everything was moving slower, from Sakura's hair blowing in the wind to Haku drawing senbon.

Naruto got on his feet. It was a strange sensation. Each of his moves left a… shadow behind for a moment. And that shadow similarly left a shadow behind, only fainter.

"This is so cool!" He shouted before dashing forward… only to crash into yet another mirror, this time directly next to Haku. It caused the masked nin to fall outside of the mirror and for the Jutsu (both Naruto's and Haku's) to shatter.

"I will say it again. What's going on with the brat?"

"It looked almost like… like…" Kakashi couldn't believe it. Naruto looked like he was trying to… use Hirashin. But… how?

"Haku! Deal with the problem." Zabuza ordered and turned back to his own fight.

The masked nin tried to get up, but he found the back of a Kunai smashing into their mask, causing it to shatter. The teen was sent flying away.

"I'm sorry Zabuza… I… failed… I'm nothing but a broken tool… Naruto. You must kill me."

"What!? Are you crazy!? You want to die!?"

"Yes. I am no longer of any use to Zabuza. I am broken and have no place."

"Can tools dream? You said this is the place where our dreams clash. Tools don't have dreams. You're not just some tool. You can make choices! You can decide your own fate!"

"It's too late for me. I killed and now, I failed to kill. I am broken. No more useful than a Kunai that's been dulled from reckless use."

"Kunai can be sharpened. Can be reforged! Stop whining and do something about your own life! You can make your own choices. You can make new dreams!"

"There is no use arguing. You must kill me." Haku stood there, awaiting their fate. Naruto slowly approached with his silver kunai. He didn't want to kill him… her… him… them. Objectively, he knew that being a shinobi meant he would have to kill one day. There was no way to avoid it and he knew it. He wasn't an idiot. But at the same time, he didn't enjoy the thought. He didn't want to enjoy the thought. He wouldn't just be a tool.

"Raikiri!"

Zabuza has been caught by the ninken and had no way to escape the lightning cutter in Kakashi's hand.

"I'm sorry, Naruto," Haku said with a single tear forming in their eye.

An hour ago, Naruto wouldn't even be able to notice what was going to happen. Now though, he could slow time to almost a standstill. He just had to be careful.

He pulled on Jiton and saw the world lose a bit of color. With the memory of his previous fumbles in mind, Naruto took a slow step forward, making sure that he didn't do something stupid. There was no place for mistakes.

One death was already too much today.

He walked to the case and picked the remaining seven kunai. He now had all nine on himself. Next, he carefully walked toward where Kakashi was just steps away from killing Zabuza.

It must've looked like peak comedy. Naruto's steps were wide and it almost looked like he was constipated. His tongue was sticking out. Reaching his goal, it was now clear what was about to happen. He didn't have time for caution. He had to act.

For everyone else, barely a blink of an eye passed. Sakura only saw Naruto and Haku vanish from their respective places. The next thing she knew, Zabuza had silver kunai piercing his shoulders and knees, Kakashi's hand was raised high and held firmly by Naruto and Haku had a blade of a silver Kunai at their neck. They were standing right in front of Zabuza and would've received the Raikiri to the heart was it not for Naruto.

"I did it! Who's the best?! I'm the best! Believe it!" He cheered before turning deadly serious. "And it's over. No one else has to die."

Zabuza collapsed, his appendages were all numb. He couldn't move anything. Haku didn't dare to twitch. Somehow, the boy before them was able to defeat their master, stop Sharingan no Kakashi and get in position without anyone even noticing.

A slow clapping resounded across the bridge. By now, there was no more mist to hide in. Near the end, a short man stood with a group of thugs at least fifty men strong.

"Bravo! I'm impressed."

"Gato," Tazuna growled.

"What's the meaning of this!?" Zabuza shouted from the ground. He was in no position to get up, but he could see his employer very clearly.

"Well, I figured that you would either succeed and be exhausted after the fight, so it would be cheaper to finish you off than pay you, or you would fail and the same would prove true for the other side." The businessman evidently didn't care about taunting a group of powerful shinobi.

"Looks like I no longer have to fight you, Kakashi. We seem to now fight a common enemy."

"Alas, you seem to be in no condition to fight." The copycat ninja sighed and prepared for the fight. "Naruto, are you…"

"I… I'm ready, sensei." Naruto nodded. It was clear what the question was about, given his previous statement.

"Haku. Help them. You don't need to kill them. Just… stop them."

"Hai, Zabuza."

The three of them got into a fighting stance, Naruto drawing an additional Angel blade and focused. Time slowed for him, but only slightly. Enough that everything still moved, but he could now react easily to anything the mob tried to throw at him.

It was over almost as soon as it started. Naruto nor Haku took any pleasure in the kills, but it had to be done. They were fighting to protect those precious to them. They were fighting for others, not for themselves.

Gato was the last to fall. He tried to run away, but Kakashi nailed him in the back of the neck with a single Kunai.

Naruto and Haku were shaking. The Ice user walked over and laid themself next to Zabuza. The demon of the mist lifted his arm with hardship, powering through the pain. He gently caressed the teen's cheek.

Kakashi placed his hand on Naruto's shoulder.

"You did well. I hoped you kids wouldn't have to face it so soon, but…"

"This is the life of the shinobi. Yeah. I get it."

This was the life he chose.

A/N So... Hello?

Before you all try to murder me for not posting anything in so long, I just started uni, and turns out "Basics" of Computer Programming actually means "You better already are a master or you'll drown" so now I'm learning to swim while in the middle of an ocean with no land in sight. Oh well, anyway.

Why this? Because I feel like it. I wanted something from fandoms that I don't have any active story for now. So I don't get my characters mixed up accidentally. If you haven't noticed, I have a type.
