Barry Whyte was taking a shower. He liked taking showers. His name was Bartholomew Whyte. Barry wasn't really the most popular kid in school. He had very few friends. He lived with a single mother who was incredibly religious along with his little sister Danielle, who liked to be called Dannie. Dannie Whyte was eight years old, nearly ten years Barry's junior. Barry had a father named Lawrence. His mother's name was Sherry Whyte (nee Hepner).
Barry continued to take a shower in the boys locker room in the school gymnasium. All of the other boys were in the shower with him. Barry Whyte was Caucasian. He had short blonde hair. He had bright blue eyes. Barry was looking at the light fixture that was hanging above him. It flickered a little bit. It moved a little bit, which was weird. Barry shut off the water. He began to turn the locker combination of his locker. Suddenly, the light fixture behind him exploded on the ground behind him, causing Barry to slip on the wet floor of the locker room and fall on the ground. All of the boys in the locker room immediately stopped what they were doing and they looked in horror at Barry Whyte's bleeding body. One of the boys, Judas Jewell ran over to alert the gym teacher, Mr. Desjardin that Barry was bleeding.
A few minutes later, the gym teacher, Mr. Collins was in the locker room. He searched for Barry Whyte, who was bleeding pretty badly. Barry tries to stand up. A few of the boys, Christopher Hardigan and a few of his friends were silently taking pictures of Barry's bleeding body. They were planning on posting this picture of Barry on Instagram and Twitter. Mr. Desjardin carry Barry out of the locker room and into the nurses station for treatment of his wounds.
A few hours later, Barry Whyte sat in the principal's office. He had bandages all over his body. He was injured. It wasn't too bad. It didn't hit any vital organs, thank god. He sat in the waiting room of the principal's office, listening to one of his favorite bands Ween on his iPod. Barry was a huge fan of several musical acts including, but not limited to: Ozzy Osbourne, Ween, Alice Cooper, Heart and Witchfinder General. He always found solace in music. He had little to no friends. The only friend he really had was a boy named Judas Jewell, a wealthy boy who worked at the local Dairy Queen, where he and Barry would sometimes drink Blizzards and chat and hang out.
Bartholomew Whyte's home life sucked. He secretly wished that his mother didn't exist. Barry Whyte's mother was religious. Like really religious. She would force Barry and his sister to go to the local Baptist church every single Sunday and forced them to sing hymns. Barry eventually got tired of singing and listening to church hymns. He wanted to listen to what the other kids were listening to. Barry begged his mother on Christmas to give him an iPod so that way he could listen to the music that other people listened to in school and everyday life. Sherry eventually relented and got her son a iPod a few days after Christmas. That was 5 years ago, when Barry was 13 years old.
Barry was still listening to Ween when he saw Judas beckoning him over to the principals office. Barry took out his earbuds and shut off his music. He walked into the prinicipal's office. Principal Wendy Brownstone of Chamberlain High was a Hispanic woman who had jet black hair that was tied into a bun shape. She wore thick rimmed glasses. The principal was Caucasian. She had curly copper colored hair. Wendy Brownstone had been the principal of Chamberlain High for many years. Wendy looked at the blonde haired boy with pity. Barry Whyte had never been sent to the principal's office in any of the schools he'd been in. Barry was usually a self centered kid who kept to himself most of the time.
"So, Barry. I heard that you had a little "accident" in the boy's locker room shower a couple of minutes ago?" Principal Brownstone asked Barry.
"Yes. The light fixture hanging above me fell to the ground and it completely shattered. I slipped and fell on the glass." Barry told the principal.
"I see. Did the other boys do anything about it?" Principal Brownstone asked.
"Not really. The other boys just stared at me." Barry told the principal.
"Ok. Well, I recommend that you stay away from the boys locker room for a little while to prevent similar incidents like that from happening. The last thing this school needs is a bunch of boys in the ER because of an injury in the boy's locker room." Principal Brownstone said.
"I'll try and be more careful next time when I'm in the shower." Barry said to the principal.
"I would probably drop out of swim class for a few days just to be safe." Mr. Desjardin said to Barry.
"OK." Barry said. Barry left the principal's office. He went over to his next class, which was English.
A few hours later, school was over. Barry Whyte was walking home from school. Barry sometimes took the bus home when the weather was bad. Barry liked walking home from school. His house was located not too far from his school. Barry often liked to listen to music on his iPod while walking home from school. Barry Whyte was currently listening to The Beach Boys. Barry saw a boy riding past him on a bicycle. He was going relatively slow. Barry looked at the boy on the bike. Suddenly, the boy's bike careened itself into a pole, sending the boy falling sideways to the ground. Barry was a bit shocked by what just happened. He wanted to make sure that the boy was alright.
Barry went over to the boy who had fallen off of his bicycle. The boy had a few scrapes here and there all over his body. Otherwise, he was fine. Barry helped the boy back onto his bike. The bike was slightly damaged by the crash. The damage wasn't too bad. The boy went back on his bike and rode away from Barry. Barrry continued to walk his way to his house. Eventually, Barry had reached his house. The house was a two story house that was located in a suburban neighborhood. He lived there lone with his mother and his sister Dannie. Barry walked up to the front door of his house. He entered the house. Barry saw his sister Dannie watching cartoons on TV. His mother was reciting lines from the Bible in her bedroom.
Sherry Whyte had long light brown hair. She was Caucasian. Sherry Whyte was a religious fanatic. She believed that first world problems were "sins". She would often force Barry and his sister Dannie to pray in their closet. Barry hated praying in his closet. He hated living with his mother. His relationship with his mother was horrible. Sherry rarely treated her two children like normal children. She treated her son and daughter more like religious objects than like son and daughter. Barry and Dannie yearned to live with their father Lawrence Whyte. Lawrence was always working all of the time.
"How was school?" Sherry Whyte asked her son.
"School was great, mother." Barry said to his mother.
"I heard that you had a little accident in the school locker room today. I heard that a light fixture fell to the ground and that you slipped and fell and you were injured by the broken glass. Is that correct?" Sherry asked her son.
"Yes. That's what happened." Barry said to his mother.
"Are you okay?" Sherry asked.
"Yes. I'm fine, mother." Barry said.
"Injuring herself on purpose is a sin!" Sherry said to her son. "How dare you injure yourself on purpose! I want you to go into the closet to pray for forgiveness!" Sherry said.
Barry hated praying in his closet. He did it on an almost daily basis. Sometimes, Sherry would force Barry and his sister to pray for their sins in the closet.
"No. I don't feel like praying in the closet right now." Barry said to his mother.
"HOW DARE YOU DISOBEY ME! YOU AND YOUR SISTER WILL PRAY IN THE CLOSET AND YOU ARE GOING TO LIKE IT!" Barry's mother yelled at him. She picked up Barry by the waist. Barry was scared. He tried fighting back, but his mother's strength was uncanny. Sherry opened the closet door and threw Barry into it. She slammed and locked the closet door. Barry screamed and begged his mother to let him out. His mother kept on yelling at him. It was clear that Barry's mother wouldn't let him out until he prayed. Barry eventually caved in and prayed for forgiveness inside of the living room closet.
