Later that day, Jackie stood off to the side while Shawn and Gus stand in front of Chief Vick's desk in her office.

"The department has been approved to call on you again, Mr. Spencer. And even though this case didn't end up exactly the way we hoped," Vick gives Shawn the check, but Gus takes it from him, "I thank you for your services. You were invaluable. Thank you." She shakes their hand.

"Thank you," Gus said.

Vick sits behind her desk, Gus and Jackie turn to leave, but stop and turn back around when Shawn sits in one of the chairs in front of her desk.

"You're making a huge mistake. This case isn't closed," Shawn told her.

"Pardon me?" Vick asked, confused.

Gus sits down in the second chair while Jackie stands in between Shawn and Gus.

"Murder, suicide? Come on, you're buying that?" Shawn asked her.

"I'm not buying anything. Those are the facts," Vick replied.

"I buy it," Gus said before he slaps Shawn on the arm and stands up.

"I understand, I do. You'd like to shut the book on this as quickly as possible. It's fine," Shawn said. Gus sits back down, wondering where Shawn is going with this.

"They had a falling out, Shawn," Jackie told her brother.

"Why? What did they have to fight about before they got the cash?" He asked.

"Might I remind you, Mr. Spencer, you are not a detective," Vick warned Shawn.

"I just need to speak to the witnesses again," Shawn pleaded with her.

"The McCallum family has been through enough, and this conversation is over," She told him, firmly.

"Thank you," Gus stands up and asks Vick, "Uh, we parked in a parking structure, do you validate?"

Vick doesn't respond and just looks at Gus.

"Would it make any difference if I told you Camden McCallum Jr. spoke to me... from beyond the grave?" Shawn asked Vick.

Vick points to the door, "Shut the door on your way out. Detective Spencer, make sure Mr. Spencer and Mr. Guster find their way out."

"Of course, Chief Vick," Jackie replied.

Gus slaps Shawn on the arm.

"Damn it," Shawn said under his breath before he stands up.

Shawn, Gus, and Jackie leave the office and walk through the bullpen.

"What are you doing?" Gus questioned, "That was the chief of police."

"Who also happened to be my boss, Shawn," Jackie added.

"Interim chief," Shawn corrected Gus before asking the two of them, "And have you considered that Camden McCallum may have been alive the first time we went to that cabin?"

"No," They answered.

"Well, I have," He said, "And Jackie, I know that you can not be settled with this."

Shawn looks into one of the offices and sees MacCallum shaking hands with Lassiter. Jackie noticed what her brother was doing and saw that MacCallum's right wrist is bandaged. She became curious as to what happened to his wrist, but she remembered hearing a rumor that he had tried to kill himself. Chief Vick walks into the room and begins talking with MacCallum.

"I need to talk to that guy," Shawn said.

"Whoa, whoa. No," Gus stopped him by he and Jackie standing in his way.

"Come on, Gus, Jackie. Just for a second. The man is practically almost my father-in-law," He tried to reason with them.

"Make no mistake, Shawn, I will kill you," Gus threatened.

"And I won't arrest him," Jackie added to the threat.

"Okay. I appreciate the fact that you think you can beat me up. But I think our last scuffle proves otherwise," Shawn reminded Gus.

"Are you talking about the Cinnamon Festival?" He asked.

"Yes! You do remember!" Shawn exclaimed.

"Okay. First of all, I was six, and I had a cast!" Gus stated.

"Which many would construe as a clear advantage. It's like having a weapon attached to your arm. Oh, great, now the chief is staring right at us," Shawn rushes to the door as it opens, "Mr. McCallum!"

Lucinda comes out and cuts him off, "Chief wants them left alone."

"Well, we all want to be left alone," Shawn said. Jackie and Gus walk up and stand beside Shawn.

"Yeah, some more than others," Lucinda told him.

"What's with his wrist?" He asked Lucinda.

"I apologize for my brother he was dropped on his head several times throughout his life," Jackie said to Lucinda.

"You don't give up, do you?" Lucinda questioned him.

"I do give up. All the time. But not until the moment is right. Now come on. I know you and my sister don't think this adds up either," Shawn argued with her.

"Okay, the rumor is he tried to off himself," She confessed.

"Off himself. The war hero? The man who's seen everything? No. That's not it. That's definitely not it," He said.

"You know everything, don't you?" Lucinda questioned Shawn.

"Yeah. It's scary, isn't it? Something is going on, and I'm gonna find out what it is," Shawn starts for the office again, but Lassiter stops him, puts an arm around his shoulder, and walks with him. Lucinda goes back into the room with Vick and MacCallum, while Gus and Jackie follow Lassiter and Shawn.

"No. You're not going anywhere near that man," Lassiter told Shawn, "In fact, I'm going to make certain you never hear from the department again."

"Whoa!" Shawn exclaimed as he and Lassie stop walking, "I'm getting strong vibrations that you might be wrong."

"I'm on to you. You've got a source somewhere and I'm going to find it. You think this is some sort of game? I'm not going to let you just waltz around here like some kid in a candy store," He told Shawn.

"Let me be honest with you, detective. I used to work in a candy store and it's nothing like this," Shawn informed him before he walks away and Gus follows.

"You're in over your head, mystic," Lassiter called after him.

"Why don't you fetch that stick out of your ass, Lassie," Jackie told him with a glare before following after her brother and friend.

While Gus left to return to work, Shawn rode his motorcycle and Jackie followed him in her car to their dad's house, which was the home where they grew up. Shawn parks his motorcycle and Jackie parks her car before Shawn rings the doorbell. A moment passes before Henry opens the door.

"Hi, Dad," Shawn greeted.

"Shawn," Henry said before saying with a slight smile, "Jackie."

"Hi, Dad," She greeted.

"You didn't tell me you moved back," Shawn said to his dad.

"You didn't tell me you moved away," He returned.

"That was different," Shawn stated.

"Was it?" Henry asked.

"Yeah. I was busy trying to help my mom through her divorce," He replied.

"Well, it's nice to see you, too, son."

"Can I come in?" Shawn asked.

"No," Henry replied as he puts on a baseball cap and closes the door behind him, "Jackie and I were on our way out to lunch," He looks at Shawn's motorcycle, "You can come with us if you don't bring this thing."

Shawn gets into the pickup truck with his dad and sister.

At the restaurant, Jackie and Shawn sat across from their dad, and after they had finished eating their lunch, Henry began a conversation.

"When I was in the department, there were two things I hated in this world. Private investigators and psychics," Henry listed and Shawn holds up his fingers as his father listed them, "Congratulations, kid. You just hit the disappointment exactly. You also somehow managed to drag your sister into this mess."

The waitress brings the check and Jackie says, "Thank you."

"Thank you. Thank you very much. It sort of happened by accident," Shawn told his father.

"What are you gonna do when you get caught? Move out of town?" Henry asked him, "Meanwhile, your sister will be trying to salvage what's left of her career at the department if she's lucky that they don't fire her."

"I'm not going to get caught," He replied.

"Shawn, this is just like everything else," Henry reminded Shawn, "Three months from now, you're going to be on a bus going to Minneapolis 'cause you found your calling as a weatherman."

"It's not like that this time. Have you been listening to me? I finally figured out a way to use my special gift. You should be thrilled. You're the one that made me and Jackie this way. I'm good at this," Shawn told him.

"Oh. Oh, oh, I see. If you're so good at it, what are you doing knocking at my door?" He asked Shawn and Jackie, but mainly Shawn.

"You think I came to you for help," Shawn said before Jackie and his father give him a look and he admits, "Okay. There was no ransom drop."

"I'm not gonna be a part of this," Henry told him.

"Come on. Would you just hear me out?" Shawn pleaded.

Henry sighs, "Okay. No ransom drop. So what? Big deal."

"So six days? Nothing? Not even a demand?"

"It happens all the time. It's not unprecedented. They try to create panic in the family," Henry said to Shawn.

"We know that dad, but not this," Jackie told her dad, "This guy didn't want to create a panic."

"This guy wanted it done quickly," Shawn added.

"Well, then you missed something," Henry told his children before saying to Shawn, "You've been driving your motorcycle all across the country, working your bungee cord jumping expeditions. You're soft. Hey, pal, it happens."

"I'm not soft. I'm sharper than I've ever been," He responded.

"Close your eyes," Henry told him.

"No way. I'm not seven," Shawn chuckles before asking, "And how come your not making Jackie do it?"

"Because we do a weekly exercise when we have lunch," Henry replied before repeating, "Close your eyes. Any longer, I'll think you're cheating."

Once Shawn closes his eyes with a sigh, Henry asks, "How many hats are in the room?"

"All right. Fine. Just in case you're trying to pull a fast one, I'm not counting the one in your pocket," Shawn puts two fingers to each of his temples before he lists the hats as he points them out, "Nylon fishing hat on the loner in the corner. Foam cap on the kid who's too young to know they were lame the first time they came out. Both truckers. One is a concrete company I've never heard of, the other advertising free mustache rides. I'm fairly certain no one's taken him up on that offer. Norwegian girl, ponytail pulled out the back. Unfortunately, she's married. And our friendly bartender wearing the official hat of the restaurant. Six hats."

"And?"

"That's it," Shawn told Henry.

"Sorry, pal, there are seven hats," He informed his son, "I can't help you. You missed something."

"I didn't miss anything."

"There are seven hats, Shawn."

"Were," Shawn corrected him as he opened his eyes, "Before I closed my eyes. Cowboy hat walked out while I was ridiculing mustache rides," Henry looks around the restaurant, "Come on. I heard her boots."

"He's right, dad," Jackie agrees with Shawn, "I saw her walking out."

"All right. Close enough," Henry said before he puts on his jacket.

"Close enough?" Shawn questioned, "No, I nailed that."

"Yeah, but you changed the rules. But, hey, if it makes you happy," Henry stands and walks away. Shawn and Jackie stand up and follow their dad.

"Change the rules? I did not change the rules. What I did was nail it and you know it!" Shawn stated.

"Shawn, you want my advice? Go out, get yourself a real job, grow up. In the meantime, you might want to ask yourself who you're trusting in this case that maybe you shouldn't. 'Cause obviously, you're overlooking somebody," Henry lectured his son before giving him the bill, "Thanks for lunch."

Henry walks away from Shawn and out of the restaurant. Jackie turns to her brother and gives him a sympathetic look.

"I'm sorry about that, Shawn, but you know how dad is. I'll try to talk to him about this," Jackie takes out her wallet and gives her brother some money, "Here. See you later, Shawn, and please don't do anything stupid that would result in me arresting you."

Jackie walks out of the restaurant and gets into her dad's truck before he drives away. For most of the drive, there was silence between Henry and Jackie, until Jackie ended it when they arrived back at the house.

"I don't know why you and Shawn have to be at each other's throats whenever you two are in the same room," Jackie spoke.

"Because he always rebels against everything I try to do for him," Henry told her, "I trained you and your brother to be the best that the police would ever see, and Shawn threw it all out the window when he stole a car. You, on the other hand, used your training to become one of the youngest detectives in the department after graduating early from high school and college. Shawn could have done better."

"Dad, maybe you should see this from Shawn's point of view," She suggested, "To him, you deprived us of our childhood by doing nothing but your training exercises and that has resulted in a backlash of rebellion in childish behavior. And dad, all I wanted to do was to make you proud of me. I love being a detective and I would never change a thing about my career, but you need to accept the fact."

"And what fact would that be?" Henry inquired, "And when do you rebel and act like a child?"

"That's for me to know and for you to find out," Jackie replied before stepping out of her dad's truck. She got into her car and drove back to the station.

The next day, Jackie was at her desk looking through the files of three different cases that were on her desk when her desk phone rang.

"This is Detective Spencer," She answered.

"Hey, Jackie, I want you to promise me that you won't be mad," Shawn said.

"What did you do?"

"I'll tell you if you promise me."

Jackie rolled her eyes before saying, "I promise that I won't get mad. Now, where the hell have you been all day?"

"Funny story," Shawn chuckled a bit before telling Jackie, "Gus and I thought that it was Katatrina who killed her brother and his friend. So, Gus and I followed her, saw her handing a bag to a guy, I then stole it. But it was filled with clothes she was donating to the guy, who worked at a thrift store. Gave it back to them, but then stole it again and got away with it."

"And when exactly am I supposed to keep my promise of not being mad at you?" Jackie questioned.

"Well, I discovered that the bag was the one used for, Wait for it, holding the ransom money," Shawn finished.

"Wait, so someone tried to pay the kidnappers then why are two people dead?"

"Because Mr. McCallum had gone to pay the ransom to save his son who finally decided to clean his act, but recognized Malcolm Orso's car on the way to the drop. After realizing that the whole thing was a scam, he went to the Orso cabin to find Camden waiting there," He told her.

"They began arguing and it got heated. Camden fell, slamming his head on the table, and was killed on impact. Malcolm walked in and saw the body, so McCallum had no choice but to shoot him and cover his tracks, making it look like a suicide. On his way out, Camden's dog bit him on the wrist, explaining why it was cut and bandaged," Jackie said, concluding, "You solved the case."

"Exactly, now I have to call the police on me and Gus," Shawn said before ending the call.

"Wait, what? Shawn? Shawn?" Jackie was about to call him but stopped when Lassiter walked up to her.

"Looks like your brother is causing trouble again, Spencer," He told her before walking away. Jackie sat in her chair for a moment before rushing outside to her car.

Later that day, the police department got a call from the MacCallum residence about Shawn and Gus. Jackie knew it had to be from Shawn. Chief Vick, Lassiter, Lucinda, Jackie, and a couple of uniform officers drove to the scene. While Vick was talking to MacCallum as they walked out the front door and into the driveway, Lassiter follows pulling Shawn along by his arm as his hands are cuffed behind his back and Jackie walks beside them, while Lucinda is with Gus.

"Yeah, it's times like this I remember why I love my job so much," Lassiter smugly said.

"Any time, Shawn," Gus said.

"He's getting cocky. Give it a sec," Shawn told him.

"We're gonna be in a city jail in a sec," He responded.

"Uh-huh. Here we are," Lassiter pushes Shawn into the backseat of the car, hitting his head on the roof, "Oh, I'm sorry. Did that hurt?"

"Lighten up, Lassie," Jackie glared at him.

Shawn looks at Gus over the car and then at Jackie next to him before he exclaims, "Ah, something's happening!" He starts shaking, "Gus! Jackie! Something's happening!"

"Stop it!" Lassiter demanded.

Shawn falls to the ground and convulses and groans. Two officers go to help, but Lassiter stops them. Everyone is watching, including Vick and MacCallum.

"The dog!" Shawn exclaimed.

Lassiter stands over Shawn, "Shut up."

"He's biting the intruder! He knows him! It's someone he knows! The dog knows him!"

"Stop talking," Lassiter told Shawn through gritted teeth.

"Ouch! Ow! The teeth are digging in," Shawn continued.

"Shut up!"

"Oh, there's blood!" Lassiter bodily lifts Shawn and carries him to the car. Shawn continues, "It's him! It's McCallum! I can see his face! The killer is McCallum. Check his wrist! Check his right wrist! The teeth marks will match up!"

"Get him out of here!" MacCallum demanded.

Lassiter is trying to force a resisting Shawn into the car.

"Check the wrist!" Shawn shouted.

"No one is checking any part of me," MacCallum said.

"Why not?" Vick questioned.

MacCallum turns to Vick, "Huh?"

Lassiter and Shawn stop struggling.

"We can close this out immediately. Discredit him right here. That's an awful wound you have bandaged there," Vick noted.

"This is outrageous! Do you really want to do this?" He questioned her.

"We could do this now... or I could call in a warrant."

"I'll call my lawyer."

"I'll be right here," Vick told MacCallum.

"I see a doctor. I'm seeing a doctor. Dr. Mandali. Uh, I'm seeing a word. Consumine! Sister! What do you see?!" Shawn asked Jackie.

Everyone looked away from Shawn and over at Jackie. Shawn knew that she knew what Consumine is used for. She hesitates for a moment before continuing what Shawn is seeing in his "psychic vision."

"Uh, a dog biting," Jackie said not as dramatic as her brother as she closed her eyes tightly, making it look like she was concentrating very hard on the vision, "Consumine is for dog bites!" She opens her eyes, "Check the wound! It's a fresh wound. His would is still fresh."

MacCallum faces Vick and stammers, "It was an accident. I- I didn't-"

"What?" Lassiter questioned in disbelief.

"Sergeant," Vick waves police over. Two police take MacCallum into custody.

"You want to take these cuffs off of me, please?" Gus asked Lucinda. She removes the cuffs, "Thank you."

Shawn rests against the car and Lassiter leans next to him and Jackie.

"Seriously... how?" Lassiter asked Shawn and Jackie.

"I wish I knew," Shawn replied.

"Just one of many life's wonders," Jackie told Lassiter.

Lassiter makes a face and walks off. Gus comes over and stands next to him and Jackie.

"Do you think this pretty much ruins my chances with Katarina?" Shawn asked his friend and sister. Jackie rolls her eyes at her brother.

The next day, Jackie watches from her desk as Vick speaks with her father in Vick's office. Jackie then sees Shawn walking toward the office door and walks over to try and stop him, but he opens the door without preamble.

"There she is," Shawn said with a smile.

"Don't ever walk into my office without knocking," Vick told Shawn before telling Jackie, "And Detective Spencer, you better get better control over your brother."

"I'm sorry. I got excited," He apologized.

"Of course, Chief," Jackie responded, sheepishly.

Vick stands and walks over to Shawn and Jackie before saying to Shawn, "You know what I'll do to you?"

"Yes," Shawn replied.

"You do?"

"My sister and I are psychics."

"I'm just finishing up in here. I'll be with you two in a moment," Vick informed them.

Shawn puts his hands up as he and Jackie start to back out of the office.

"That's all right, Karen," Henry said as he stands, making his presence known to his son, "I've gotta get going anyway."

"Thank you very much for coming down. You've been a big help," Vick told him as she shook his hand.

"Yeah. Okay," Henry passes Shawn on his way out, "Son. See you later, Jackie."

"Dad," Shawn watches his father leave then looks at Jackie and then Vick.

"Have a seat," Vick offered the two. Shawn and Jackie walk into the office and each sits down in a chair, while Vick sits back at her desk, "I was considering adding you to my speed dial, Mr. Spencer, but I would be remiss if I didn't do a little background check, don't you think?" She puts her feet up on the desk.

"Yes," Shawn sighed.

"I asked your dad how long you and Detective Spencer have had the gift," Vick said.

"Look, my father's memory is pretty cloudy," He informed her.

"Oh, it certainly is. His recollection doesn't match up with your assertion at all."

"We can explain that, Chief," Jackie said.

"You said you both have had this ability your whole life, Mr. Spencer," Vick said to Shawn.

"Well, whole life. I mean, it's a bit of a gray area," He clarified.

"He said you and Detective Spencer didn't get it until you were both 18," She told them.

"He said that?" Shawn questioned as he and Jackie were dumbfounded that their father agreed that they were 'psychic, "Wow, that is just like him. The man simply refuses to acknowledge my sister's and I's abilities, our gifts. Can we discuss my fee?"

"There's a check in the cage," Vick replied.

Excited, Shawn gets up and heads for the door while Jackie does the same but is not as excited. Vick lowers her feet and sits up.

"Sign for it and then come back in," She added.

"Come-come back in here? Why?" Shawn asked.

Vick hands him a file, "Your sister is familiar with a chop shop in Summerland, but are you, Mr. Spencer?"

Henry is getting into his pickup when Shawn and Jackie run up to him.

"Dad!" Shawn and Jackie called.

"So are you gonna continue with this little charade?" Henry asked his son and daughter.

"Well, it sort of gives us carte blanche, you know. I mean, I can work cases for the department. I can do private jobs. I get to spend more quality time with my sister. In fact, I've already got another case," Shawn told his father.

"Be aware. This is the last time I cover for you, pal," Henry warned his son before getting into the truck, "I'm not okay with this, Shawn, any of it. And you better not get your sister into any trouble."

In the passenger seat, Shawn and Jackie see an article about the case with their photo.

"I don't expect you to be, Dad," Shawn said.

Henry drives away and Shawn gives him a little wave before walking to his motorcycle. Jackie watches her brother leave before she goes back inside. Before she even had a chance to sit down at her desk, Vick called into her office.

"Detective Spencer!"

Jackie composed herself before walking into the Chief's office and closing the door behind her. Jackie stood in front of Vick, sitting behind her desk.

"You wanted to see me, Chief," Jackie said.

"Yes," Vick responded, "With your brother now working for the department, I was wondering if you could keep an eye on him, a liaison of sorts."

"Of course, Chief."

"Good."

Jackie walks out of the office with a smile on her face. She was happy because her brother's idiotic plan was still working.

The next day, Jackie drives along the road by the shore before spotting the blueberry, Gus's blue company car. She pulls into the parking spot next to it and gets out. Jackie pulls down her eyeglasses and reads the words painted on the window.

"Psych, Private Psychic Detective," Jackie read aloud before going into the office.

When she walked in, Jackie saw that the office is bare with only a few chairs, a file cabinet, and a desk. Shawn, sitting behind a desk, and Gus, standing, looked at Jackie with surprise.

"What are you doing here, Jackie?" Shawn asked his sister.

"I'm your babysitter," She answered, "Cheif Vick assigned me to keep an eye on you to make sure she doesn't regret ever hiring you and your detective agency called, 'Psych'."

"Actually, it's all of our agency," Shawn corrected his sister. He opens a folder and points to a piece of paper, "I put both your and Gus's name on the lease as well. Tell me, does that look anything like either of your signatures? I gave it a shot."

"This better be a joke," Gus said as he and Jackie walk over.

"Shawn, I am going to kill you," Jackie threatened him.

"Don't worry, you won't have to do a thing. I have worked out every last detail," He told them.

"What's your dental plan?" Gus asked.

"Don't get cavities."

"Health plan?"

"Same, but with hepatitis and shingles."

"So I'm supposed to quit my job, skip over, and do this for no guaranteed money," Gus said with annoyance.

"No guaranteed money, but all guaranteed fun!" Shawn enthusiastically exclaimed.

"No! No more cases, Shawn. It was fun for a few days," Gus walks back to the window, while Jackie stays at the desk.

"Well, it's gonna have to be fun for a minimum of six months, or we'll have to pay a lease penalty, which would be a blemish on your otherwise very impressive credit report," Shawn said.

"You solved one mystery and now you renting office space?" He questioned.

"Gus, I've solved a bunch of mysteries. For instance, the mystery of who kept stealing your newspaper. Answer: me! The mystery of what we're doing this weekend. Hint, it involves dragsters. And finally, Jackie, tell Gus."

"Chief Vick has another case for you guys," Jackie said.

"Another case already?" Gus questioned with a small smile.

"Yey," Shawn confirmed, "A car thief got poisoned by his boss. He used something over the counter. Phizadine. No. Phizaderble. No…"

"Phizadrine?" He said, asking if that was what he was trying to pronounce.

"That's it!" Shawn confirmed.

"Wow. How'd he do that?" Gus asked.

"I'll tell you on the way," Shawn replied before walking out of the office with Gus and Jackie close behind.

"Just for today, right?" Gus asked.

"Absolutely," Shawn confirmed as he and Gus got into the blueberry while Jackie went into her car.

Jackie knew that this wasn't going to be just for today and that her brother had dragged her and Gus onto a rollercoaster.
