Heya friends! I'm so sorry for the wait! I've been working hard as usual at my hospital job, seems to be never ending especially since the Covid-19 crisis is still strong, but hopefully you're all doing well at staying safe and being sensible!
Hope you all enjoy this long awaited chapter and again I am sorry for the delay.
Chapter Thirty-Nine
Confrontation
Diablo opened his wings and hunched in a fighter stance as he stood before the Grasshopper, Wolf, Viper and Dragonfly.
Jack bared his teeth and held up his weapons.
"Be ready for anything guys!" the wolf warned.
"I'm always ready!" Heather replied.
"Likewise!" Kate growled as she hit a button on her cell phone to alert the other knights to their position.
"Ditto!" Percy added then looked to Kate who nodded at him informing him that she had alerted Tyroth and the others to which the grasshopper smirked.
Rex looked worried as he turned to Samson.
"Samson." He said in a low voice "Take the hostages, and get Chastity, Regan and Asiyah back to the hideout, I'll help Diablo."
Samson turned to Rex, worry forming on his face.
"Rex…" he began.
"That's an order solider!" Rex snapped as he cracked his head against his hostage knocking him senseless and handed him to Samson who grabbed him by the scruff of the neck.
"You're the strongest of all of us to take the captives," he said, "I can offer Diablo some back up, just like I did in the army!"
"I trust you mate." Samson whispered, "Just be careful!"
Rex nodded and winked.
"Trust me!" he said, "We'll both make it home!"
Diablo smirked and opened his wings more.
"You're ready are you?" he asked, "Are you really?"
He reached both hands behind him still keeping his wings open.
"You think you can outwit my tricks?" he asked as he then pulled two fireworks from behind his back, both lit!
Jack, Percy, Heather and Kate were alarmed and before they could move Diablo threw them towards them and they exploded in sparkling coloured flashes igniting the tunnel!
The Knights instantly dived to avoid the explosives either by backflipping away or diving into the sewer water!
Diablo meanwhile jumped back using his wings to avoid getting burnt and turned to see Samson, Chastity, Asiyah and Regan running off with the hostages, yet Rex remained behind!
"Rex!?" Diablo said in surprise "Why are you still here!?"
"A good solider never leaves a man behind!" Rex said verdantly saluting to Diablo then turning to see Jack, Percy, Heather and Kate who were getting up from where they had thrown themselves to avoid the exploding fireworks.
"I won't leave you to deal with these guys alone!" Rex growled.
Jack was the first to get up and brandished his weapons as the others followed suite.
"You won't get out of this tunnel Raven!" he spat "There's only two of you and four of us!"
"And you think your larger number will help you?" Rex snarled.
Diablo glared yet he was worried as he knew that the three Knights before him must have alerted the other Knights including Tyroth, so if he and Rex were to get away, they had to make it quick then leave before Tyroth arrived.
"Let's keep this short Rex!" Diablo hissed "We take down these three then find the others! We got what we came for!"
"Yes sir!" Rex growled in agreement.
Kate hissed then struck her whip at Diablo who cawed as the leather struck his shoulder, then she turned to Rex swinging her whip in a figure of eight striking his cheek each time!
At the same time, Jack and Heather went for Diablo whilst Percy went to help Kate in fighting Rex.
Diablo cawed again then turned as Jack and Heather went for him, yet he jumped back and opened his wings causing them to stop in their tracks.
"I'm gonna bleed you worse this time traitor!" Heather yelled.
Diablo curled his beak and glared.
"Come and try buzzing Nat!" he growled and clawed his talons.
Jack swung his weapons.
"I'm gonna clip your wings!" he barked "And render you flightless! See you smirk after that!"
"Be my guest Fleabag!" Diablo cawed then swung his wings making Heather, Percy and Jack duck and sweep under them to avoid getting knocked back.
Diablo dived low and used his wings to send up the filthy sewer water to which Jack and Heather closed their eyes and held their breaths as they were splashed distracting them then Diablo jumped and aimed his taloned feet at them before landing on their chests and knocking them into the water!
As the wolf and dragonfly were knocked back by the Raven, Kate was shocked and as she lost her focus, Marcus grabbed her whip and pulled hard forcing Kate to let go!
"Hey!" Kate cried in alarm, then she saw Marcus throw the whip at her before it wrapped around her neck and Marcus pulled hard again forcing her to fall towards him!
"Get over here!" Marcus growled then he grabbed Kate's arms and pulled him behind her before forcing her to the floor like a cop tackling a criminal!
As Kate hit the ground she felt Marcus's foot between her shoulder blades before she could even move and soon she was pinned down!
Marcus smirked in triumph and leaned down to the viper still keeping his booted foot on her back.
"Maybe I'll defang you!" he snarled "And wear those shiny pearls around my neck!"
Kate hissed in defiance.
"Fuck you!" she spat.
"Kate!" Percy cried and leapt for Rex yet Diablo's wing appeared and caught the grasshopper sending him flying and he landed in the sewer water tripping over the motionless figure of the man Regan had been feeding on dazed and shaking off stars.
Diablo turned to face Heather and Jack who jumped to their feet and faced him again then looked at Marcus who had Kate under his boot.
"I suggest you back off!" Diablo smirked "Or Marcus will do something to your friend you won't like!"
Heather and Jack saw Kate's predicament and turned mauve with rage yet they froze on the spot.
"You lowlife!" Heather snarled "Let Kate go!"
"Then leave us alone!" Diablo growled "leave us alone! And we'll leave you alone!"
"Never!" Jack barked "You have to pay for what you did to us, Raven! You stole the Sacred Water! You put Mutopia at risk of discovery! You hurt many of us as you fled! You nearly killed Master Splinter! You went against everything Mutopia hold dear! For your own selfish reasons!"
"Selfish!?" Diablo cawed "I only wanted to follow my own path! Yet you tried to stop me!"
Jack glowered.
"Your own path? Your own path? Don't even go there!"
Diablo narrowed his eyes.
"I choose my way of life! You tried to stop me! It's your own fault you got hurt! I never wanted to harm you! I warned you! Yet you didn't listen!"
"Bullshit!" Heather spat.
"And you continue not to listen now!" Diablo cawed "When I say leave us alone! I spoke the truth when I said to Jake I would not betray Mutopia! If only you would leave us be! And We will have no quarrel!"
"I don't believe you!" Jack growled "You're a traitor! You betrayed Mutopia already! And you betray it now with your ridiculous crusade!"
Meanwhile Samson lead the others out of the tunnel, carrying his unconscious hostages over his shoulders as well as check the area around him.
As much as he trusted Diablo and Rex, and the fact that Diablo had used his skills and tricks to escape the Chicago Knights before, he was anxious.
"Come on girls!" he called looking around "The coast is clear!"
"Will Rex and Diablo be alright?" asked Chastity worried as she exited the tunnel encouraging Asiyah to follow her.
The newly mutated eel looked around, she was still in shock over accidently shocking Chastity with her hands and she kept her distance from the other mutants for their sake, yet as she looked at the others, she soon realised that something or rather someone else was missing.
"I trust them to be." Samson replied, "But I can't help but worry!"
"We can't just leave them!" Chasity said.
"I know!" Samson said.
"Um…guys?" Asiyah interrupted as she looked at the panther and Dove, "Wasn't there another with you?"
Samson and Chastity frowned and looked at each other then looked around, before realising that Regan wasn't with them.
"Regan!" they cried together in fear then Chastity looked back at the tunnel wondering if the little Vampire Bat had fallen behind.
She ran back to the tunnel and called into the darkness yet she got no reply.
"Oh shit!" she said "What if she remained behind?!"
"She's just a child!" Samson yelled.
Chastity glared.
"Stay here with Asiyah!" she said before running back into the tunnel before either the Panther or Eel could stop her.
Back in the sewer, Diablo continued to fight and hold off Jack and Heather whilst Rex continued to hold Kate hostage.
"You can't hold us off forever Raven!" Jack shouted, he hoped that if he and Heather continued to keep the Raven busy then hopefully Tyroth and the others would arrive to their position as Percy had done and they would have more of a chance of capturing Diablo and Rex and taking them into custody back to Mutopia.
Diablo just glared as he continued to swish his wings and slash his talons as well as avoid the weapons of the Dragonfly and Wolf who still tried to take him down.
Percy meanwhile had managed to shake off stars and jumped up to get back into the battle, yet as he did, he looked up and he saw a small white figure clinging to the ceiling of the sewer tunnel above Jack and Heather.
Blinking several times, he soon realised it was Regan and she was looking down at Jack, her fangs long and her eyes glowing and hungry.
"Oh crap!" he muttered in fear, then before he could say anything Regan opened her mouth and opened her wings as she got ready to drop!
At the same time, Jack leaned back to avoid being hit with Diablo's wing and he saw Regan clinging to the ceiling above him and his eyes widened.
Regan then hissed and snarled then she dropped down towards him, and she landed on his chest before throwing herself at his throat before clamping her fangs into his flesh!
"JACK!" Heather screamed in horror!
Diablo and Rex were equally shocked as they saw Regan appear and attack Jack.
Kate and Percy also hollered in shock as they saw the Wolf get attacked by the Vampire bat!
Jack screamed as he felt Regan's fangs penetrate his skin and she began to suck his blood.
"Get off me!" he shouted as he began to spin around trying to shake Regan off, yet she still kept a tight hold of him and continued to chew on his flesh and drink his blood.
Heather instantly sprang into action and tried to help as she grabbed Regan's wing and pulled hard, forcing the bat to let go of the wolf and into the sewer water.
Regan jumped up, and turned to the Dragonfly with a hiss and crouched like a feral animal, and Heather almost recoiled in horror seeing the mess of blood and flesh in the little Vampire Bat's mouth and tricking down her chin.
Jack meanwhile dropped to his knees into the sewer water, cradling his bloody neck in agony.
"Fuck!" he gasped as he studied his blood soaked hand "She fucking bit me!"
Rex and Diablo decided this was the chance to get away, despite being shocked at Regan sudden appearance and attack, they knew better to discuss this with her later and decided to try and get her back to them safely before the Knights still standing had a chance to bring them all down!
Yet before anyone could move or say anything a roar was heard and a bright red light was seen from around the corner, to which both the Chicago Knights and the Disciples turned to look and saw who it was!
Diablo felt his heart leap both in fear as well as anger as he looked upon the glowing and furious looking form of Tyroth the Dragon!
"Shit…" he muttered.
So it seems Regan is a lot more unpredictable than we thought! Maybe even more dangerous!
But I doubt she's more dangerous than our Dragon hero who has just arrived on the scene!
What will happen here? Well, until I post again, I'll let you lot guess what's next!
