Heya people! I've finally managed to update this fic at last! It's been since Febuary, but I finally got my groove on this, I say it now, I don't know how long it'll last! And I got these other short pics I'm working on!
Last place we left off, Tyroth and the Chicago Knights had confronted Diablo and his Disciples, but Diablo once again escaped with his tricks, some hostages, and another recruit!
Chapter Forty-Three
Fears
Back in Mutopia, Jack lay on one of the beds in James's Medical room whilst the Chimpanzee analysed the bite marks on the wolf's throat as he handed the wolf a vial of the magical wells water and placed a gauze on the wounds to stop anymore bleeding.
"Jesus Christ!" the Chimp doctor breathed "I can't believe it! I can identify these marks as teeth marks! Proper vampire marks!"
Jack winced as he lay on the bed and took a sip of the water from the well to heal his wounds.
Heather and Kate sat beside the bed in worry, since they arrived in Mutopia they never left the wolf's bedside.
"Some second in command I am." Jack sighed in shame "I let a child overpower me."
"A child?" James asked, his eyes widening.
"Not a child." Kate hissed "A Mutant child, a vampire Bat child!"
"It was unsettling." Heather shivered "I've never seen such savagery from a child."
"Total opposite of Sonia." Kate agreed "I don't know the background of her, but she was a real savage."
"My God…" James breathed.
"I can't believe Diablo would mutate a child." Jack said, "He's gone so low."
James remembered how Tyroth had mentioned in the meeting several days ago that he and Hugh had witnessed Rex pull a child from a wreak of a car and more than likely they would have mutated.
As he put the two and two together, he realised the child was the Vampire Bat mutant.
Heather placed her hand on Jack's hand.
"Listen Jack, you didn't see it coming." She soothed.
Jack sighed again.
"I should have!" he growled "I should have smelt her, I should have known she was there!"
"She has learnt dirty tricks form the Raven!" Kate hissed "That traitor has taught her what he knows!"
Jack sighed and was about to speak again when Tyroth arrived in the medical room with Percy who was holding a distressed Sarah close.
James turned around and he gasped.
"What happened?" he asked walking over to Sarah and holding his hands out to her to which Percy urged Sarah to go over to the Chimpanzee and he led the cheetah over to a bed next to Jack.
"Boss?" Heather, Kate and Jack asked together.
"Jack are you alright?" Percy and Sharky asked the wolf together to which James turned and reassured the grasshopper and Shark that Jack was going to be okay, and he lay Sarah down and placed a hand on her forehead which was soaked in cold sweat.
Tyroth sighed wondering what to tell his team-mates.
"Did you manage to take down that traitor?" Kate hissed.
"Or did you damage him at least?" Heather asked.
Sephie looked at Tyroth who stepped into the medical room and sat on a chair.
"I almost had him!" he breathed, his eyes burning in anger "I almost had that turncoat! I had him! And he got away! Because of that child loyal to him!"
"He used me as a leverage to escape!" Sarah sobbed as she curled onto her side and James went to his table and prepared a syringe.
"It's not the first time he almost killed me!" Sarah wailed "He dropped me almost a hundred feet the first time, and this time he threatened to blow out my brains!"
James filled the syringe and checked it before tapping it to make sure there were no air bubbles and turned to Sharky and Percy.
"That Raven Devil threatened to kill her by shooting her in the head." Sharky growled to which James glared then walked over and took Sarah's arm ready to inject her.
"It's okay Sarah." He soothed "It's alright, you're safe now, I promise."
Sarah sobbed and started to kick her legs in stress.
Percy and Sharky walked over ready to assist James if it was needed and the Chimpanzee doctor lowered the syringe to Sarah's arm and injected her sedating her so she could rest.
As soon as the needle went in, Sarah's cries soon turned to whimpers and she soon relaxed on the bed and James pulled a blanket over her to keep her warm.
"Will she be okay doctor?" Sharky asked.
James nodded.
"She's very distressed," he said, "And she needs to rest, I'll keep an eye on her." He then turned to Jack.
"Your wounds are healing well Jack." He said, "So you're free to leave."
"Thanks Doc." Jack said placing his hand on his throat and feeling where Regan had bitten him, even though his wounds had healed he could feel where she had bitten him and how it had hurt.
Sliding off the bed, Jack turned to Tyroth who had his head in his hands with Sephie stroking his back.
"Boss?" he asked.
"I still can't believe what happened!" Tyroth lamented "I tried to get Regan over to us, I tried to reason with her, but she is loyal to Diablo, and now he had recruited a new member and taken prisoners!"
"Hun." Sephie tried to comfort her lover.
"I had to reason with Diablo to save Sarah's life! That fucking coward!" Tyroth snarled.
"Honey." Sephie stroked Tyroth's back "You tried, you did your best, and we all came home alive!"
"That is true!" Jack agreed and Percy, Kate, Heather and Sharky agreed, as did James who had walked to his table to check his tools after making sure Sarah was comfortable.
Tyroth took a deep breath and looked up.
"We did another meeting guys." He said looking at the knights "Meet me in three hours in the Dojo,"
"What about Sarah?" Sharky asked looking at the sleeping Cheetah.
"Let her rest for now." Tyroth said "If she's still asleep, we shall continue with the meeting and fill her in later, she's been through a lot."
"It is recommended you let her rest." James spoke "After what she has gone through."
Tyroth nodded in agreement.
"Thank you, James." He said 'We'll check on her later."
He stood up and turned to the Knights.
"Get yourselves cleaned up and see you in three hours from now, inform Amber and Devina."
"Got it boss!" Percy said, Sharky, Kate and Heather agreed and watched as Tyroth left the medical room with Sephie.
Meanwhile back in the city, Diablo and Regan ran through the sewers until they got to the exit, Diablo panted and started using his talons to cut the ropes that held his wings together.
"Are you okay?" Regan asked with concern looking up at the Raven who looked down on her.
"Yes child." He said, then looked at the blood that still stained her mouth "You'll need to clean yourself up though, and thanks, for what you did."
Regan gave a proud smile.
"You saved me." She said, "You are my guardian."
Diablo nodded at Regan and was about to speak again when they heard a shout in front of them.
"Boss! Regan!"
Rex appeared from the darkness along with Chastity and ran towards them.
"What the hell happened!?" Chasity asked "Are you both okay? Regan! You bad girl!" she glared at Regan who looked slightly taken aback and scared.
"Why did you run off like that?!" Rex barked "You could have gotten hurt! Or worse killed!"
"At ease soldier!" Diablo barked as he managed to cut through the cords with his talon "We'll explain everything later! But first! Let's get out of here!"
"Are they following you?" Chasity asked.
"I don't know!" Diablo said as he opened his now freed wings "But I'm sure as fuck not waiting to find out!"
He held out his taloned hands to Rex and the Doberman grabbed them and the Raven took off into the air.
Chasity followed his lead and took Regan's hand and they both took off into the air to fly back to their hideout.
"How is our new member?" Diablo asked as he flew higher.
"She's with Samson." Rex replied, "Still reeling from her mutation as well as shock at her new powers, if you pardon the pun!"
Chasity frowned slightly as she flew on with Regan.
"You really scared us!" she scolded "We will talk when we get back to our lair."
Regan looked down ashamed yet a little offended.
"She did save me." Diablo said as he flew higher with Rex, "But yes, we will speak together when we get back to our lair."
"We must also check on our newest member." Chastity reminded "As well as our prisoners."
Diablo nodded at Chastity, a slight smirk on his face.
Back in Mutopia, Tyroth was in the Dojo along with the Chicago Knights, Jake, Devina and George.
Sarah was still distressed so Tyroth decided to let her rest more and that he would inform her later when she was awake and calm.
As soon as Jake had been made aware of what Diablo had done, he was shocked.
"Brother." He sighed "What have you done?"
Amber placed a hand on his and he looked over at her, appreciating the comfort.
Devina was looking at her hands as she sat on the floor, she couldn't believe that Regan was a Vampire Bat and it had shaken her up, knowing there was another blood sucker out there, and one who wouldn't hesitate to bite and drink blood.
"Okay guys," Tyroth said holding up his paw "As you know, this is getting more serious."
"Tell us something we don't know!" Percy hissed to which Kate elbowed him hard.
"Shut up vermin!" he growled.
"We've seen Diablo mutated the child Rex saved from the burning car, and he's now mutated another, that girl Percy spotted being dragged into the car and attacked, one of the attackers we managed to catch but the others are now in the hands of the Raven and his followers, who knows what they'll be doing to them!"
"More than likely torturing them into insanity like the others!" Heather suggested.
"After what he did to the Hate Preacher, his wife, Dale and his friends." Sharky gulped "I wonder what he'll do to the guys we found in the sewers?"
"I suppose Hugh will find out soon enough as all of Diablo's victims end up with him!" Devina said then turned to Tyroth "Do you think he'll do the same to the two men?"
"Without a doubt." Tyroth said "and I know Hugh will ring me once he's off duty, and I'll be ready for his questions, and I hope he can give me answers with the man we left for him."
"This is very disturbing." George mused as he stroked his beard.
"I wish I had been present." Devina whispered to which everyone looked at her.
"Devina?" Sephie asked.
"If I had been with you, instead of helping Amber lead the police to the attackers car, I might have talked with the child? Vampire to Vampire?" Devina questioned.
"Hey!" Sephie soothed "Don't blame yourself Dev."
Devina sighed.
"I just can't believe such an innocent child could turn into something so bloodthirsty." Devina said "I know I was rather ruthless back in Skyrim, but I was an adult when I was turned, never in my life back then did I think that a child could be a vampire."
"A vampire bat technically, like the bat in the animal kingdom." Tyroth said "She is a mutated vampire bat, she thirsts for blood but is not like the type of vampire you are."
"I know, but still." Devina sighed.
"I understand." Tyroth said also patting Devina's hand in comfort.
"So what now boss?" Sharky asked.
"I don't know." Tyroth said "All we can do is what we have been doing, keep searching for Diablo, and keep an eye out for his activities, and I will keep in touch with Hugh over any leads."
"We've been doing this for weeks!" Kate growled "And still we keep trying but have had no success in bring Diablo to justice nor recruiting his followers over to us!"
Tyroth sighed and placed his head in his hands.
"It's all we can do!" he said "To be honest I want to kill Diablo! But I promised Mona and Jake!" he looked at Jake who nodded in gratitude.
"And I never break a promise! So until things change! We will continue to search and find Diablo! And never give up until he is caught!"
"We respect your orders boss!" Jack said saluting the dragon.
Tyroth nodded.
"Thanks Jack." He said then he stood up and walked out of the Dojo "Meeting adjourned!" he said.
The others watched him go and also stood up to resume their duties.
George sighed and followed the dragon along with Sephie.
Sharky, Jack, Devina, Percy, Kate and Heather stood up and Percy suggested some time in the rec room to burn off steam to which the others agreed.
"You joining us Jake, Amber?" Jack asked seeing how the human and Marine Ignana hadn't responded.
"Um, no thanks." Jake said, "I think I'll stay here for a bit." He held up his gun "I feel I need to let off some steam."
"Okay mate." Sharky said "But we'll be in the Rec room if you change your mind."
"Thanks!" Amber smiled softly as the other Knights left.
As soon as they were gone, Jake walked over to the firing area which Sephie often used to practice her archery, and loaded his gun with bullets.
"Jake?" Amber asked concerned as she watched him "Are you okay?"
Jake looked at Amber.
"I don't know." He said glaring over his glasses "All these weeks of chasing my brother, and he is always one step ahead, I'm not sure how much more I can take…."
So Diablo and his remaining Disciples return to their hiding place to look after and learn about their new recruit, and Tyroth and the Knights have returned to Mutopia, once again unsure of what to do but keep searching and monitoring for Diablo's movements.
Jake sure is tense! Not that I blame him of course!
