Last place we left on a cliffhanger and Mona ended up stabbing her younger brother!
Chapter Sixty
Outcome
Meanwhile as the Church started to burn, the Disciples made it outside.
Ravage lead the way then made sure everyone got out before slamming the fire door behind him.
"Everyone okay?" he asked to which the Disciples nodded.
"Thanks Patrick…I mean Ravage!" Lamia corrected herself quickly then looked around.
"Let's go and find Diablo!" Rex cried "We gotta help him!"
"Follow me this way!" Ravage encouraged the others to follow him.
"Hold it right there!"
The Disciples jumped and they looked to see Jack and the other Knights appear from around the side of the burning building.
"Damn!" Samson cursed as he narrowed his eyes.
"You're not going anywhere!" Sarah snarled.
"You're not getting away from us this time!" Kate spat baring her fangs and cracking her whip.
"Dammit!" Rex growled "Not them again!"
Lamia glared as she looked at the different mutant humanoid animals.
"Who are they?" she asked.
"The Dragon's followers!" Chastity glared "They want to take us down and stop our crusades!"
"You still believing Diablo's lies?" Amber asked with a glare.
"Fuck you!" Samson growled.
"He saved us." Chasity growled.
"He helped us get even with those who wronged us!" Lamia hissed.
"And he rescued me from this disgusting Cult!" Ravage smirked, his razor-sharp teeth exposed, and they shone like tiny knives.
"You're his newest recruit huh?" Percy asked as he looked at Ravage, seeing how similar he looked to him, only his colours were sandy brown, and he had an extra pair of arms and wings.
Ravage nodded and smirked.
"I can see we're quite alike." He mocked "Though you lack extra arms and wings!" he opened his wings and flapped them as well as waved his upper extra arms mockingly.
He then winced as he felt something whack him in the side of the face and he recoiled stepping back.
"Shut up!" he heard a shrill voice then saw Kate step forward slashing her whip as she stood next to Percy.
"Thanks!" the grasshopper said gratefully to the Viper.
Kate nodded at him then turned to Ravage.
"Come on then!" she coaxed "Show how good you are with those extra arms!"
Ravage rubbed the side of his face and saw blood on his fingers from where she had struck him.
"Oh, you're gonna regret that!" he snarled.
Kate hissed back bared her fangs.
Samson glowered then turned to Chastity, he could tell that the Knights were ready to fight and take them down, and as much as Regan looked ready to lash out and bite, he didn't want a child to be involved in the crossfire.
"Take Regan out of here." He said, "She's too young to fight!"
Chasity hesitated.
"But Samson…."
"Trust me!" Samson insisted "Go and find Diablo! Rex, Ravage, Lamia and I will deal with these guys!"
"Go!" Rex agreed as he looked at Chastity, "That's an order!"
"We'll be okay!" Lamia added as she held up her bare hands ready to use the electricity through them "Just find our leader!"
Chasity was reluctant, but she wanted to trust her fellow Disciples as well as keep Regan safe, as dangerous, and relentless as the little Vampire Bat was, she was still a child and she need to keep her out of harm's way.
"Regan." She spoke "You need to stay with me okay, we have to find Diablo!"
"What?" the little bat was hesitant and looked back at the other Disciples who faced the Chicago Knights.
"Trust me, okay?" said Chastity, "We have to find Diablo, Samson, Rex, Lamia and Ravage will handle the other mutants, okay? They have their duty, and we have ours, alright?"
"Okay." Regan sighed and took Chastity's hand.
Making sure the Dove and Vampire bat were well behind them, the other Disciples stood their ground ready to fight the Chicago Knights.
"Ready?" Samson asked Rex, Lamia and Ravage.
"Ready!" they answered and got into fighting positions.
Jack glared and held up his weapons.
"Be ready for anything guys…" he said, "They may be full of tricks, just like the traitor!"
"Let them come!" Kate snarled.
"I'll chew them all to bits!" Sharky growled as he bared his sharp teeth "And spit out their bones!"
"CHARGE!" Jack howled then ran forward.
At his command, the others followed all shouting in feral cries.
Samson, Rex, Ravage and Lamia all leapt into action and rushed forward before colliding with each other.
Ravage used his wings to lift himself up and he threw his legs forward as Heather aimed for him.
"Insect verses insect!" Heather shouted as she clashed with Ravage "Doubt you have experience with your new body newbie!"
Ravage used his upper arms to block then used his lower arms to attack.
"I'm a fast learner Buzzing Nat!" he growled.
Sharky, Amber and Sarah dealt with Rex.
"I'm used to fighting more than one enemy!" The Doberman growled "The enemy never fought with honour!"
"Then get ready for those who do fight with honour!" Amber barked.
Kate and Percy dealt with Lamia who dodged their moves and held up her hands to try and touch their exposed skin to cause pain or them to pass out from her electrical touch.
"Keep on your toes Percy!" Kate shouted as she struck with her whip as well as dodged Lamia's lashing hands.
"No worries, Snake Girl!" Percy called over "She won't get me!"
That left Jack to deal with Samson who clawed his hands and bared his teeth.
Jack growled and stared down at Samson.
"Here Kitty, Kitty!" he growled baring his teeth and snarling and Samson squared his shoulders and held up his clawed hands.
"Bring it!" Samson snarled then ran for Jack to fight in hand-to-hand combat.
As the Chicago Knights and the Disciples fought, Chastity and Regan took to the air and flew above the church as it began to burn down.
Both knew it wouldn't be long before the blaze drew the public's attention and they had to find Diablo and get him away, along with the others before the Police and Emergency Services arrived.
Chasity looked down at the fighting Disciples and Knights then looked around desperately for Diablo and she soon saw him fighting Mona on a rooftop not far away whilst the Dragon mutant, two humans and a mutant female Gecko watched.
"Diablo!" she gasped, then flew over still holding Regan's hand.
Regan also saw the fight and how intense it was getting.
"Chasity!" she said, "We have to help!"
Chasity still kept hold of the Vampire Bat's hand.
"I know!" she said "But what can we do?" she flew closer as she observed the fight and she soon saw Diablo aim for Jake as he started shooting, then Mona throw the kunai knife at the Raven.
"Oh my God!" she cried, then she screamed, as did Regan as Diablo flew at Mona, and he landed on top of the Lizard Lady before stopping and gasping in pain.
"Diablo!" Regan gasped as she saw Mona had her hand up to the Raven's chest and a Kunai knife she was holding was embedded in his chest!
At the same time, as Devina and Tyroth stepped towards Diablo and Mona, they both saw the Dove and Vampire Bat flying close by.
Tyroth glared as he looked up at them, especially at Regan.
"There she is!" he pointed out the vampire bat to Devina who gasped as she looked at the young mutant.
"No way…" she thought.
Jake and Sephie also stepped over to Diablo and Mona.
Diablo lifted his hand to the knife embedded in his chest and he pushed himself off Mona before standing up with difficulty.
"You killed me!" he snarled "You killed your brother!"
Mona sat up, her hand still soaked in blood and she stared tearfully at Diablo who stepped away from the Dragon, Gecko, Vampiress and his human brother and lizard sister.
As he did, the sounds of sirens filled the air.
Tyroth cursed as he saw the blue lights of the Police as well as the Fire Department appear.
Diablo also looked up then at the mutants and Jake, then behind him seeing Chasity and Regan hovering near the building, before a smirk curled on his beak.
"I'll be back…" he hissed then fell off the edge of the building.
"NO!" Mona screamed and raced forward but as she looked over the edge she saw Chasity and Regan had swooped down and grabbed Diablo before he hit the ground and flew up into the air and disappearing into the smoke from the burning church.
Mona watched in utter shock and defeat as the two mutants carried her injured brother away, Jake stood next to her and watched in sadness.
"He's gone…" he breathed "Callum…. he's gone…"
Tyroth also ran forward, he wanted to fly after the Disciples, but he knew he could risk exposing himself or the others to the humans, especially since a crowd was starting to gather around the burning church.
"Damn it!" he growled then turned to Devina.
"Boss?" she asked.
"Gather the Knights!" he said, "We have to leave before the humans spot us!"
Devina nodded and instantly transformed into her flock of bats form before flying off to look for the Knights.
Meanwhile, the Disciples saw that the Humans were arriving at the scene and they had to flee the scene.
The Knights also heard the commotion and that gave the Disciples the upper hand!
Ravage grabbed Heather's face and headbutted her hard making her fall dazed and she landed on top of Sarah and Sharky.
Amber managed to avoid being dropped on, but Rex was able to disarm her then punched her back into the wall of the burning Church.
Lamia managed to avoid Kate's whip as well as Percy's kicks and she grabbed the two by the necks!
As well as giving them a few shocks with her electric touch she clanged their heads together making them fall and see stars!
Jack was shocked at seeing the team fall by the Disciples, yet he kept his focus on Samson who was determined to get everyone away.
Both the Wolf and Panther clashed arms as they tried to push back against each other.
"Give up!" Samson growled "Your fellow soldiers have fallen!"
Jack snarled at him.
"You gonna run away like a coward?" he asked.
"I will not leave my friends!" Samson snapped then turned to the Disciples who stepped away from their fallen opponents.
"Retreat!" Samson shouted to them "Retreat!" he then pushed Jack back.
"We'll meet again!" he spat "When I do not know, but I'm counting on it!"
Jack glared then threw a dagger at the Panther who dodged it and it embedded in the wall of the burning church.
"Oh, I'll be there!" he shouted "You will not escape us next time! As long as I live and breathe, you, the Disciples, and Diablo will answer for your crimes!"
Samson glared and gave him the middle finger before disappearing into the darkness.
At the same time, Devina appeared and her bat form turned into her human form.
"Guys!" she shouted then saw the defeated Knights gathering themselves after being beaten back by the Disciples.
"Come on!" she said "We have to go! The humans are arriving! We can't be seen!"
"What happened to Diablo?" Jack asked desperately.
"I'll explain later!" Devina said "But we must leave!"
Jack swallowed, as much as he wanted to go after the Disciples, he knew he had to get the Knights up and away from the scene.
Nodding at the Vampiress, the wolf went over to help his fellow soldiers to their feet.
"Everyone okay?" he asked.
"I guess so…." Percy groaned "Jeez…I feel like I've been fried to a crisp!"
"Likewise! And I got a splitting headache!" Kate complained.
"Get up!" Devina ordered "The humans are arriving! We gotta go!"
As soon as the Knights shook of stars and recovered, they realised the dangers they were of exposure and they quickly followed Devina to the back of the church.
Devina took out her cell phone and called Tyroth.
"Tyroth!" she said "I've gathered everyone! We must return to Mutopia and fast!"
"Well done Devina!" Tyroth replied.
"Are you, Sephie, Jack and Mona alright?" Devina asked worried.
"We're unharmed!" Tyroth reported "But we must retreat before the Humans discover us! And quickly!"
"We follow your lead Dragon!" Devina replied "We're coming to your position to return home! And promptly!"
So Diablo stood up despite his wounds and escaped with the help of Chasity and Regan! And the Disciples has escaped again just as the humans are gathering at the scene of the Cult's church burning to the ground!
The Knights, Mona and Jake are to return to Mutopia, and the humans are to see the aftermath of the attack on the Straight Truths's Church, we're still not at the end, just yet! Stay tuned for the final chapter! Coming soon!
