Chapter 3: Krif voth Ahkrin

Illyrio's Manse, Pentos, Sunday, 31st of Frost Fall, 297 AC

Daenerys smiles as her dragon cubs fly around the gardens, Durnehviir keeping a close eye on them, the Dragon lying on the ground, conserving his strength, as he has become known to do. Earlier this morning, Jon had measured that Durnehviir is now 12ft from Nose Tip to Tail Base, with an 18ft tail, and has a total wingspan of 42ft, he is large enough to ride, as are his siblings, and Durnehviir is getting really close to not being able to fit in the Gardens, pretty soon he may need to roost in the rocky shores outside the city. However, Daenerys smiles as she looks at the Dragon watching over her hatchlings, with her eldest, by terms of size, growls and screeches at Durnehviir, as if trying to intimidate him, but all the big lug does is just snort at him, causing the little one to stumble backwards and go back into a submissive state. It is an adorable little scene, one Daenerys wouldn't exchange for the world if she could remain here forever, a melodic giggle escaping her lips.

Jon watches this adorable little scene as he hears her giggling, looking at the adorable scene from the balcony, but then his mind turns to something Paarthurnax had once told him. That he and a handful of dragons had sided with humanity, but in the end, they were betrayed, even so, Paarthurnax had even given him a list of dragons that joined him, which included the dragons Shulkunaak, Numunnax, Nahfaalaar, Sahrotaar, and even the supposedly evil dragons Kahvozein and Grahkrindrog. Jon had met Sahrotaar, in Apocrypha, but since he did not know of how to revive dragons, he couldn't restore him, nor did he know of the other dragons.

[Author's Sidenote: For each of these dragons, I've the translations of their names, as well as my personal meanings for their Rotmulaag combinations. Now, in order, they are: ("Sun-Light-Guide", or "Sunlight's Guide"), ("Now-Man-Cruelty", or "Now enslaved to Man's Cruelty"), ("Fury-The-Servant", or "The Servant of Fury"), ("Phantom-Word-Slave", "Slave to Phantasmal Words"), ("Pride-Reverse-Worship", "The Opposite of Prideful Worship"), ("Battle-Courageous-Master, or "Courageous Battle Master")]

However, his musings are interrupted when he hears footsteps approaching his location, to which Jon turns, seeing Illyrio Mopatis standing there, bowing to him, "Your Grace, there are some visitors for you…!"

"I wasn't expecting any visitors today…" Jon says, looking at him, and puts his hand on his dagger, "Show me to them…"

"At once…!" Illyrio says. Despite his money-grobbing nature, Jon and the Magister have bonded well over the past several months, with Jon even learning about business and trade from Illyrio, something that might be useful someday, and Illyrio, despite his best efforts not to, has come to see the Prince like that of a son he wish he had with his wife. The young man is calm, collected, but also kind and generous, not to mention studious as well. He is always learning, and whatever debts he owes, he always pays in full, but more than that, Jon, Daenerys, and Illyrio have been throwing around possible ideas on how to build an army for the two Targaryens to take back their home, with Illyrio being their well of knowledge on the trades of Essos, including that of Slaver's Bay, where he has often purchased Unsullied as his guards. Despite this, Jon and Daenerys often visit the Unsullied Guards when they are off duty, bonding with them, and even helping Illyrio make their lives more comfortable.

Due to the small changes that Illyrio has made at their suggestion, he sees that his Unsullied Guards are not just following orders because they are told to anymore, they have become more willing to listen to his commands. Add to this that the captain of his guards has even become a close confidant of his, even offering suggestions on having the other Unsullied he purchase to act as guards for his trading vessels against Pirates, while giving them training on how to fight aboard ships with their tools. This has, in turn, increased his profits over the past few months, and ensured the loyalty of his guardsmen, not just because they are forced to, but because they actually want to. Despite how he intended to use the Targaryens early on for profit, he has come to see them like his own children, and can't help but wish that his beloved Serra were still alive.

In any case, Illyrio gathers Princess Daenerys and leads the two to the front, where he shows them, walking up to the doorstep are a pair of knights from Westeros, though they appear now to be wearing garments fit for the Essosi climate, though Jon can hear chainmail beneath their clothes. "Prince Aemon and Princess Daenerys, please allow me to introduce Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Jaime Lannister, former members of the Kingsguard!" Jon is happy he has his hood up right now, because it hides the anger he has hidden beneath his hood, but he takes a breath to calm himself. "Noble knights, allow me to introduce Prince Aemon and Princess Daenerys of the House Targaryen!"

"Your grace!" Ser Barristan says, bowing humbly, Jaime doing the same, though there is fear in his eyes, feeling something watching him from above, and he would be right if he looked up, for Paarthurnax has taken a perch atop the Manse and is currently watching from above, curious as to the strangers.

"Rise…" Jon says, to which the members of the Kingsguard do so… "I know of you, Barristan Selmy, you fought beside my father, Rhaegar, at the Battle of the Trident, where he hoped to end the fighting once and for all… I also know of you Jaime Lannister, but all I know of you is that you stabbed my grandfather in the back…"

"Yes, your grace…" Jaime says, looking down, shame evident on his face, and Jon seeing it.

"While I was raised under a strict code of honor, I know from rumors that you took your vows seriously until you killed the King you swore an oath too…" Jon says, to which Daenerys does her best to keep her emotions in check, but it is hard, for while she knows of what her father was, or at least the so-called "lies" her enemies spun, she did not know the whole story, thanks to Viserys. "If you wish to redeem yourself, you will start by coming inside with us and explaining everything…"

"Yes, your grace!" Jaime explains, to which he then does something neither Jon nor Daenerys expected, he ties down his sword and dagger and then hands them to Jon, showing he means them no harm. This is baffling to the two Targaryens, but Jon, deciding to give him a chance, takes them, with Illyrio showing them inside whilst serving wine with cheese and fruit, to which Jon smiles as he nibbles on some cheese. "Now… Where to begin…?"

"I would like to know as to why you murdered my father…" Daenerys says, still not trusting Jaime Lannister, but knowing he surrendered his means of defending himself, he is taking a risk whilst placing his trust in them, strangers, the child and grandchild of the man he murdered.

"Of course… To start things off… Everything that your enemies had said about King Aerys the Second weren't lies…" Jaime says, to which Daenerys looks at Ser Barristan, whom she can feel she can trust more, due to his seniority and his attempt to save her brother.

"He speaks the truth, your grace… The Mad King had burned many people, innocent and guilty alike, with Wildfyre… Torturing them slowly and painfully, while we of the Kingsguard could do nothing to stop him because of our vows to protect him… It was… Shameful… If your brother had survived the Battle of the Trident, he would've dethroned your father and had him executed for his crimes, even if he had to bear the shame of being a Kinslayer, he believed it was better to bear that shame than to let more innocent people burn alive…" Ser Barristan explains, "He had taken to listening to the Alchemist Guild who produced Wildfyre for him, and years earlier, before he went mad, had commissioned that Wildfyre Caches be stored beneath the Major Thoroughfares of King's Landing, a Weapon of Last Resort should any invading forces try to take the city and slaughter the Targaryen Royal Family… After he had lost his mind, he had several caches stored in the Red Keep as well…"

"Oh my gods…!" Daenerys says, putting her hands over her mouth.

"When my father had invaded King's Landing that King Aerys had decided it was time to utilize his weapon, even though I knew the details of the utilization of the Wildfyre was to evacuate as many people from the city as possible before igniting the Substance…" Jaime explains, "However, he was intending to utilize it with everyone still inside King's Landing, including your mother and brother as well!" Jaime looks down, "Nobody knows this, but I was hopelessly in love with your mother, your Grace, and even though King Aerys had sent them away to Dragonstone, they wouldn't have enough time to make it to the ship to ferry them and you away… So… To save the woman I loved most, as well as the city she and Rhaegar promised to save should Rhaegar dethrone his father… I sacrificed my Honor and killed your father… Once I had realized what I had done for love… I collapsed into the Iron Throne's seat, and that was when Ned Stark found me… He didn't even give me a chance to explain myself, and when I tried to argue back… My father brought forth the bodies of Princess Elia, Princess Rhaenys, and Prince Aegon…"

Jon hangs his head, shedding tears as he hears this story, now seeing the man for the man he was, and understanding how he willingly sacrificed his honor to save thousands, if not millions, of people inside King's Landing… It is just like Ned Stark had sacrificed his honor to save him, this causing Jon to wipe his eyes as he sniffles a bit. "I also knew of Rhaegar's Marriage to Lyanna Stark, thanks to Queen Rhaella, and once I heard about you being alive, I kept my mouth shut on the matter, for I had come to understand that Ned Stark, your uncle, had saved you… Jon Snow…" Jon looks to Jaime, shocked, but then smirks as he pulls back his hood, and nods in acknowledgement, Daenerys crying, both out of sorrow but also out of joy as Jaime had done something so despicable, and yet heroic for the sake of love and protecting the innocent.

"Then allow me to be the First to invite you and Ser Barristan to our Royal Guard…!" Jon says, "If you swear your oaths to us, then allow us to amend the parts of your oaths that allow you to take wives and fathering children, but make an addition to your oath…" Daenerys looks at him, stunned, "Should at any time, that the King and Queen become a threat to their people, it is the duty of the Royal Guard to eliminate the threat, which there shall be no shame in doing what must be done. For the King and Queen are servants of the Realm, not just it's leaders, and should the servants be unfit or incapable of service, they must be removed."

"You would really have us make that vow?" Ser Barristan asks, shocked.

"I think I agree with Aemon on this one…" Daenerys says, "Though I am hesitant as to truly implementing this, after learning of what my father was… What he did… I swear to the Gods that I will never become like him… However, should I fail to uphold that oath, I believe having a means to stop us would be best." The two former Kingsguard members look at the two royals and then kneel before them, in which Jon smiles with Daenerys, who, though a bit nervous, smirks as well.

"Your grace, we also come bearing a pair of gifts from one who knows of your existence, both of this realm and from the one before…" Ser Barristan says, "She says that she is your ally and has sent us with these gifts to show that she has all intentions of supporting you…"

"Where is she?" Jon asks, curious.

"She said she has some business to take care off, but when it is done, she will meet us in Vaes Dothrak!" Ser Jaime Lannister says, and he slowly reveals a chest that had arrived hours earlier with a note to Illyrio Mopatis. "We had to send this ahead of us so that it could be ready when we arrived!" Jon carefully moves to the chest, and slowly opens it, to which he finds that inside are several items of note, but the one that catches Jon's attention is something he had been longing to see for months now, his old grah-zeymahzin ("Battle-Brother-Honor", "Battle Companion", or "Ally"), the blade in which his Nordic Family took their own clan name from, the Bloodskal Blade… He remembers the feeling of this Ebony Sword, and while it was a greatsword on Vus, in this world, it is a bastard sword, and as the light shines upon the blade's pommel stone, it creates an audible, and alluringly beautiful ringing sound with a matching light that resonates from the stone.

Those present are stunned at the weapon creating something like that as Jon draws the blade from it's scabbard, and the blade sings as it is drawn, the red and black folds of the Valyrian Steel are prevalent, the waves flowing along the length of the serrated blade. Thanks to the Valyrian Steel being much lighter than the Ebony of his world, this blade is a lot lighter than he remembers, but he isn't complaining about that. However, alongside it, he sees that there is a set of armor that he recognizes instantaneously, it's his Dragonscale Armor, only, as it had adapted to this world, the scales appear to be made out of Valyrian Steel, and the Helm, instead of being open faced, has a facial mask set in place to protect the face. However, there is another set of Dragonscale Armor, one that Jon recognizes, it's the female variant of the armor, one which he had to use Ysolda's measurements for a bit of an experiment. Daenerys looks at the armor and looks to Jon, the young man blushing as she gives him a look.

"Are these armors made of… Dragon Scales?"

"Yes…" Jon says.

"What?" The Kingsguard Members ask, taking a closer look at them.

"Were these the dragons that challenged you?"

"Yes…" Jon looks down, to which Daenerys puts her hand on his shoulders.

"So long as they weren't your allies, then I can understand…" Daenerys says, though internally she feels a bit terrified at this, to think that these scales may be strong enough to stop steel blades, but the fact they were taken off the corpses of slain dragons. It only speaks volumes to the trials that Jon had to go through in his previous life, but as she holds the feminine armor in her hands, she notices that the leather that holds the armor together stretches slightly, as if it were made of living skin. "I would like to try this on, if it is not too much trouble…"

"If you wish to, go ahead…" Jon says, to which a group of female servants carefully pick up the heavy pieces of armor and lead Daenerys to another room. The young woman, having the pieces of armor set upon her bed, her hand gently glides across the scales, and while she does feel disturbed at the fact this armor is made from the scales of dragons, deep inside her, part of her is telling her to wear this armor, and against her better judgement, she slowly removes her dress, her instincts telling her that any garments underneath the armor may indeed irritate her. As she runs her hands along the scales, she can feel something flowing from these large scales, an aura of sorts, which seems to have caused the leather to fuse to them, but in doing so, as she pulls on the leather a bit, finds that the leather stretches somewhat, allowing it to be slipped into as if it were a shirt. The Pants, Gauntlets, and Boots are the same.

However, without another though, she slips into the armor, finding it fits like a glove, and whats more, despite how heavy it is, she can move around as if she were wearing a thin silk dress, with practically no restriction to her movement, save for a slight slowing of speed. Once the entire armor is upon her body, she walks back out to the group, who are eagerly awaiting her return, in which Jon looks at the princess in shock, finding that the armor fits her perfectly, and for a moment, he can see Ysolda wearing it, but he remembers that it's not her, it's Daenerys, to which he smirks at that. Jon walks to her and looks at her, "You look… Fit for battle…"

"Thank you, Aemon…" Daenerys says, smiling.

"Your graces, I'm sorry to intrude on this moment, but I have thought of something that might benefit you both for when you return to the Seven Kingdoms…!" Ser Barristan says, the royal family looking to the Old Kingsguard Members. "Had you two discussed marriage?"

"Uh!" Jon says, blushing at that, with Daenerys becoming flushed as well, "Well… I was thinking on it, but after what had happened with Ysolda… I'm not confident I could be a good husband… I lost her to those who came after me through her… I don't want to lose someone that precious again…"

"I can understand your reasoning, your Grace, but you will need a Queen who can produce heirs for you, and I do believe that if you marry Daenerys, your claim will be solidified…!" Jaime explains.

"I…" Jon says, hesitant.

"Aemon…" Daenerys says, looking at him, "I want to be your Queen…" Jon looks at her, stunned, "However, I don't want to stand behind you, I want to stand beside you!"

"Daenerys…" Jon asks, "Are you sure about this…?"

"I know you don't love me as much as I do you, Aemon… However, I am willing to wait for you to give me your heart, and trust me with it…" Daenerys says.

"Dany…" Jon says, looking at her, and smiles softly at her "Then will you marry me?" Daenerys looks at him, stunned but then smiles as she hugs him, smiling.

"Yes!" Daenerys says, looking into his eyes. "And do not worry, Jon, if you need more time to mourn Ysolda, then I will give you that time, but know that I expect to be with your child within one year…!"

"I understand…" Jon says, smiling at her, thankful she is so understanding of his feelings, "Thank you…" He holds her close, smiling, and then Illyrio claps.

"Congratulations, both of you…!" Illyrio says, "Now, there is still the matter of Khal Drogo to contend with, he shall be here soon!"

"Then I shall face him!" Jon says, "I need to show our Royal Guard that I can hold my own against a Dothraki!"

"Are you sure, your Grace?" Ser Barristan asks. "Do you not wish for one of us to fight him?"

"No, I honestly wouldn't want you too, for I am challenging Drogo, not just for Daenerys, but also for his Khalassar. I will also be going to Vaes Dothrak to challenge the other Khals for control of their Khalassars as well." Jon explains, "Besides, I have a secret weapon up my sleeve should my skills with a blade prove inferior, a special magic that only Daenerys and I can use."

"Magic?" Ser Barristan asks, "What kind of Magic?"

"You shall see, or possibly you won't if I don't need it!" Jon explains, smiling, "However, I will be showing you how much I have trained!" Jon smiles at his Royal Guard and holds up Bloodskal. "And the power of this sword!" He then moves back to the chest and carefully removes his armor, but finds something else on the bottom, his Dragonscale Shield, and he smiles as he looks at it, setting it down, but then finds his bow in it, the Dragonbone Bow. "Dany…" Jon says, standing up as he lifts the bow in his hand, and then presents the weapon to her, but it has changed to a black bow while retaining the shape it did on Nirn. "This bow had served me well in my time on Nirn, and now I pass it onto you…"

"Jon…" Daenerys says, taking the bow in her hand.

"The fangs that made up the spikes on this bow can be used as slashing weapons in times of need, so do not be afraid to use it as you see fit…" Jon explains, smiling at Daenerys, who smiles as she holds the bow in her hands, and feels the weight in it, finding that while the strength of the weapon is strong, it seems to bend to her will.

"Your grace, may I?" Jaime asks, to which Daenerys hands the bow to Jaime, who attempts to draw back the string, but finds it doesn't bend an inch in his fingers. "This is one powerful bow! You must be very strong to be able to pull it!"

"No… I crafted that bow myself in my past life, and weapons made from Dragon Materials only bend to the will of those with Dragonblood in them." Jon explains, to which he goes to another room and puts on his Dragonscale Armor… He feels the armor rest against his skin, and he can't help but smile as he feels like a part of him has returned, and he even sheathes Bloodskal to his waist while strapping his shield to his back. When he steps back into the room, Daenerys has to resist the urge to clench her thighs together, her instincts driving her to embrace this man, but she manages to contain herself, thinking of the battle that is soon to come.

An hour passes and Khal Drogo rides up to the manse with his Bloodriders, who look to see Illyrio Mopatis stepping forward "Greetings Great Khal Drogo, I welcome you to my humble home…!" Illyrio speaks in Dothraki, "While I would normally present your bride to you, Khal, there is someone who wishes to challenge you for the right to her and to your Khalassar…!

"A weakling challenging me before my Bloodriders?" Drogo asks, laughing, "Then bring him out, and I shall cut him down myself!"

"Of course, Khal!" Illyrio says, but then everyone stops when they hear a roar, and from over the manse is a large red dragon bigger than a horse, with someone riding upon it's back. Khal Drogo only flinches at the sight of this beast whilst his Blood Riders are moving backwards in fear, their horses rearing up, terrified as the red dragon flies down and lands before the Khal and his Horse. "Great Khal, may I present to you Prince Aemon of the House Targaryen, of the Blood of Old Valyria, the Father of Dragons!"

"Greetings Khal…" Jon says, having been taking lessons on how to speak the Dothraki Tongue, "My uncle had told me he had betrothed my aunt to you in order to obtain use of your Khalassar…!"

"Your Uncle… So he was the weak man who thought he could use me… So you have decided to challenge me for the right to claim my Khaleesi and Khalassar?"

"Indeed I am, and when I am done with you, I will challenge the other Khals for their Khalassars as well! And I shall not be alone in that endeavor, for Daenerys will become my Khaleesi, and we shall take on the Khals together as her right of passage!"

"A woman who fights? Very interesting… I will enjoy raping her when I finish with you!" Khal Drogo says, to which Jon snarls, but smirks beneath his helmet.

"Your courage is admirable, and I like it! Let our mounts clear the field and this space be where we dance!" Jon says, to which servants lead away the Khal's Horse as he dismounts, and Odahviing flies away. "Now we will decide this, Khal Drogo! Krif Voth Ahkrin - Fight with Valor!" The Khal nods and draws his Arakh as Jon brings out his shield and Bloodskal, and the two of them begin to circle one another, each of them taking slow steps as Daenerys watches from the door, with Ser Barristan and Ser Jaime, the two of them ready to step in should things become messy. Jon keeps his stance as he rests Bloodskal against his shoulder while keeping his shield forward, ready to block an attack at any time, while Khal Drogo, being a Khal, decides to air on the side of caution. He has neer seen a man dressed in a suit made from the hide of the Great Dragons of Valyria before, but if one is willing to wear such an armor whilst riding such a beast must be strong, or at the very least, smart. Deciding to test this theory, Drogo aims a blow onto the shield to determine it's strength.

Jon raises his shield and blocks the blow, but Drogo, seeing an opportunity, aims a kick at Jon's exposed body, in which the impact knocks Jon back, but the young man expected such an attack, the Arakh being raised to strike down onto his head. Daenerys watches in horror as the blade slowly descends, the two Kingsguard Members aiming to move. Jon however smirks as he his blade begins to glow with red flames. Dodging to the side, Jon swings Bloodskal hard, and, to the the surprise of everyone, the sword unleashes the flames in a wave of crimson energy. Drogo, not expecting this, attempts to block the attack, but it passes through him, causing excruciating pain as a red light washes over him for a moment. However, the pain quickly fades as Drogo, growling with anger, begins to start attacking in earnest, the two warriors clashing arakh against blade and shield quickly, to which it appears the two are moving at a blinding pace. However, that is when Drogo does something none of them expected, he uses the hook of his Arakh's blade and wraps it around the guard of Jon's sword, and pulls it out of the Targaryen's hands. Drogo then charges in for a final strike, "THIS IS OVER!" Time seems to slow as Jon raises his head to look at the Arakh, a grin on his face.
