(Hogwarts: Defense Classroom – a couple of days later)
"Potter stay behind" Stated Moody as he let the rest of the fourth years leave the defense class for the day, Harry approached the Professor's desk after seeing Cho in the doorway again.
"Professor" Stated Harry
"Potter, do you know what the first task is?" Questioned the Professor as he took a sip of his flask
"I do" Replied Harry
"Aye good lad, do you have a plan for the task?" Inquired Moody
"I do" Stated Harry
"May I ask what your plan is?" Inquired Moody
"I would Professor, but someone is listening in, and I don't want my competition to know what I plan to do" Admitted Harry as Moody glanced at the door
"I see you are taking Constant Vigilance to heart, Lad." Praised Moody
"Thank you, Professor. If that is all" Asked Harry
"Are you confident, Potter?" asked Moody
"As I can be" Replied Harry
"If you need any help, be sure to ask" Stated Moody
"That is against the rules, Professor" Remarked Harry as he knew Cho was still listening in
"Rules are meant to be broken, to survive" Replied Moody as Harry went out of the classroom as Cho followed him
(Hogwarts: Snape's office – a couple of days later)
"Are you prepared, Potter?" asked Snape as they meet for the last time before the first task which was the next day
"As prepared as I can be" Responded Harry
"Just stick to the plan, and not even you can mess it up" Responded Snape
"Of course, Moody asked me again what my plan was" Shared Harry, having told Snape that Moody has asked if he had a plan before
"And what did you tell him?" asked Snape
"That my plan would work, he doubted me. He of course, said this over a sip of flask" admitted Harry
"It concerns me that Moody is so interested, be cautious just in case" Stated Snape
"Alright" Replied Harry
"If no have no problems, we should call it early. Plenty of rest is no doubt required" Responded Snape
"Alright" Stated Harry
"Good luck, Potter" Stated Snape
"Thank you, Professor" Stated Harry as he departed as Snape took a bottle of Fire whiskey and took a sip
"Here is hoping it goes right" Stated Snape as he took another sip
(Hogwarts: Stadium Tent)
Harry had entered the tent where the rest of the champions were gathered as they were being told officially what the task was. He looked at the other champions before the officials came in. Cedric was no doubt sweating at what the task was going to be, seems he didn't find out. Krum was practicing wand movements, one of them to Harry's eyes seemed to be the Conjunctivitis curse. Finally, Fleur was staring at the wall, no doubt deep in concertation about something.
"Ah, the champions are here I see" Stated Bagman as him and the rest of the officials entered the tent
"Now for the first task, the champion must get past a dragon mother and collect a fake egg like this from the nest. The Egg is a clue for what the second task is" Stated Bagman as he showed off a fake golden egg
"Dragons" Stammered Cedric
"You didn't know?" asked Harry as he faked surprise as Dumbledore coughed
"For the order, each champion will select a dragon out of the bag" Stated Bagman as he produced a bag before offering it to Fleur, Krum, Cedric and finally Harry. Harry's dragon was slightly bigger and had a four around its neck.
"I see Mr. Potter got the Hungarian Horntail, quiet a nasty dragon" Stated Bagman as Harry paled slightly, his bad luck was coming to bite him and of course he got the most dangerous dragon out of the lot.
"First up is Mr. Diggory followed by Ms. Delacour then Mr. Krum and finally Mr. Potter. I will call you out when it is your turn" Stated Bagman as he and the other officials departed
"What that really necessary, Potter" Hissed Cedric
"Hmm, yeah since you put Cho up to harass me to find out what the task was" Returned Harry
"I didn't tell her to any such thing" Replied Cedric as Harry shrugged
"Doesn't matter to me, she is your girlfriend" Remarked Harry as Cedric shake his head and went off to prepare for the coming challenge.
(Hogwarts: Stadium)
Hermione Granger was sitting next to Ron and Ginny as they sat in the stands as the announcer had finally started the event.
"And the first task for the Champions is for them to get a fake egg out of the nest of a Mother Dragon." Announced the Announcer
"A mother dragon" Squeaked Hermione
"Oh, Harry is so brave" Stated Ginny dreamily
"Brave? He is going to die" Stated Ron
"I should have helped him" Stated Hermione
"Maybe he shouldn't have been a lying git then we would have" Responded Ron as the first dragon was brought out
(Hogwarts: Stadium)
Harry's name was called, and he readied himself and put his wand into his hand and carried himself with pride, he could say at least be confident in the plan. He enters the arena and saw the Dragon in question, and no doubt it was big. He readied himself and waited for his time to start.
"And now we have Mr. Potter going against one of the most dangerous dragons, the Hungarian Horntail. Let us see how he fairs" Stated the Announcer as the bell rang signaling his time started.
The Dragon had noticed him and start to breath fire to hit him, but he quickly ran behind a rock and cast the Patronus Charm.
"Distract him, eyes near me" Whispered Harry as Prongs went out from the wand and went towards the dragon as the Dragon changed targets and start breathing fire at Prongs as Harry hit with another Spell which made the dragon spray fire in every direction as the dragon's head turned, and next as it was distracted Harry cast the freezing charm as the dragon's fire barely missed him.
"Oh, it looks like the dragon got him" Stated the Announcer as Harry cast the freezing Charm again before casting Prongs again to take the fire for him and he carefully ran from rock to rock getting close enough to the nest and looked out and saw Prongs was still distracting the Dragon, he took his chance and ran to the nest and quickly grabbing the egg as the Dragon recovered from the Conjunctivitis curse and saw Harry in the nest.
"Oh no, the Dragon seems him and he is defenseless" Cried out the Announcer as Harry aimed his wand at the Dragon and realizing he didn't have a good shot at the eyes, instead going with a backup plan as he put as much power as he could into the next spells, he sent flying towards the Dragon as it approached closer, not casting fire so the eggs wouldn't get damaged. As Harry cast the same spell five times, they each managed to hit the Dragon and with the sixth the Dragon fell away from the eggs and Harry sighed with relief and decided to get out of the arena and backstage as applause were heard.
"Did you get hurt Mr. Potter?" asked Madame Pomphrey as Harry entered the tent
"My hair got burnt a little bit, and maybe my arm" admitted Harry
"Hmm, yes I do say your hair got burnt. Your robes took the brunt of the damages of the burns. I do see a case of magical exhaustions" Noted Madame Pomphrey
"Had to cast powerful stunners" Admitted Harry
"Take this for the burnt hair, and this one for a pick me up" Stated Madame Pomphrey
"Alright" Conceded as he took the offered potions as the tent opened and two students entered and made their way towards Harry
"That was wicked cool, Mate" Stated Ron as Harry inwardly scowled, thinking that they could just forget that they abandoned him and move on as if nothing happened
"What do you want?" asked Harry coldly as Hermione winced
"To congratulate you on your performance, I knew you didn't enter your name" admitted Ron
"We were worried" Shared Hermione as Harry laughed
"First off, I had it under control" Started Harry
"Harry James Potter, you didn't have it under control. It nearly killed you" Interrupted Hermione
"I did, I knew there was a chance that my spells wouldn't work. That is why the Stunner was my backup plan. And second off, we aren't friends anymore" Responded Harry
"What do you mean?" asked Ron confused
"Regardless of what you just said about knowing that I didn't enter my name. You still told the whole school and abandoned me when I needed you the most. That is not what friends do. And plus, you didn't even apologize" Hissed Harry as Ron went red and Hermione was about to answer, the tent opened, and Professor McGonagall entered
"Ms. Granger and Mr. Weasley, you can talk to Mr. Potter later his score needs to be given" Ordered McGonagall as Ron and Hermione reluctantly compiled
"Come Mr. Potter" Ordered McGonagall as Harry stood and followed her back into the stadium
"And the last contestant, Mr. Potter. He used the Patronus Charm to distract the Dragon and used the Conjunctivitis curse to blind it followed by the Freezing Charm to slow it down. And finally, when the Dragon he caught him, he cast six powerful stunners which led the Dragon to be knocked out" Stated Bagman
"The Scores" Stated Bagman as Dumbledore put up an 8, Madame Maxime cast a 7, Bartemius Crouch put up a 7, Bagman put up an 8, and finally Karkaroff put up a four.
"Mr. Potter score is 34, putting him in third place, right above Mr. Diggory" Revealed Bagman as polite applause was heard
"The second task will be on February 28th, and the hint is the egg that the champions had to collect" Revealed Crouch
"That is all" Stated Bagman as Harry departed with the egg in hand, determined to figure out the hint and preparing for the second task
