A/N: Actually, this was made for a short story to be graded in Language Arts. –looks around nervously- As you can probably tell, it isn't that good, and the grade is yet to be passed back. Hope you guys enjoy.

To say it was a beautiful morning would be an understatement.

Outside, birds chirped their early morning songs, lush green trees and blades of grass swayed along with the light breeze, the skies were as blue as ever, and the sun was beaming down on the citizens of Japan.

Yes—today was a perfect day for sitting outside and pigging out on sweets, while watching the fluffy white clouds that vaguely looked like cotton candy travel across the sky…

Especially for one certain youngster.

Pressing her eager face against the cold glass to look through the shop window at each multi-colored jar, the petite emerald-eyed girl grinned widely, eyes sparkling with excitement and anticipation. Her auburn hair gleamed in the sunlight.

Which kind should she get today? None seemed to catch her eye.

The jelly beans? Nah. Those were too sour.

Chocolate? Nope. Too filling, and it would melt too easily. Sticky fingers were a nuisance.

Jelly worms? No way. She hated creepy crawlies, even though these were just sweets.

Candy corn? Yuck. Way too sweet.

The others seemed open for option though, the young girl noted as she viewed all the other displayed candies.

Eat me, they all beckoned to her.

Her stomach grumbled in protest.

"Oh!" The girl reddened, eyes widened in surprise. She'd have to hurry up.

Quickly choosing something, she proceeded to march into the little dusty shop, calling out to the shopkeeper in greeting.

"Hm…? Ah! You're here again!" The teenaged cashier gave a mile wide smile and wiped her hands on the red apron. "Whatcha get today?"

The little girl handed over her candy, and fumbled with paper bills.

Today, she mused as she thanked the cashier and clutched the package tightly; she'd pick the candy canes.

Sucking absent-mindedly on her minty treat after stepping out into the blinding sunlight, the little girl resumed her thinking pose of placing her pointer finger under her chin.

Hm…yesterday, there were the lemon drops; today, she picked candy canes—and tomorrow…

That's right—tomorrow; she'd have to get something else!

What would she get? Hm…now there was a problem…

She pondered the question for at least ten minutes. Finally shaking her head violently, the girl decided to stall answering, and shrugged.

Ah well, she'd just decide tomorrow. Might as well enjoy the candy cane while it lasted in the blistering summer heat.

After all, there was always tomorrow…

…right?

And so, the little girl skipped contentedly down the pebbly street, strands of auburn hair dancing in the gentle wind, all worries gone from her pretty little head.

Yum yum…candy's so good!
