Prologue
"Mommy! The man with the light blue eyes is back!" 10 year old Zelenia Rajata screamed late into the night. Artemis Rajata ran into the little girl's room hoping she wouldn't come face to face with the man who has been torturing her child since she was 4. She searched the entire room just to be sure and thankfully there was no one there. She let out a sigh of relief. "Zelenia, it was just a nightmare my love, go back to sleep, I am right here" she said soothingly. She gently brushed Zelenia's hair with her fingers and hummed her favorite lullaby until she was softly snoring. Once she was sure that Zelenia was out, she went into the study to find her husband Mikel.
"They're getting worse, aren't they..." Mikel stated while putting some books back on the shelf. Artemis nodded. "Artie, maybe it's a sign! We need to approach the elders or even your cousin. These dreams are going to drive her insane! You've seen how anxious she gets, especially when it gets closer to night time. Yesterday, I saw her jump at the sight of her own shadow!". Artemis just shook her head. She would do anything to protect her daughter, even if it meant hiding the truth from the 10 year old. "Mikel, I am not going to put her life in danger by dragging the elders or Alan into this! There's a reason why we moved all the way to Alaska!".
Artemis thought that the only way they could protect Zelenia was to move as far away as they could from Beacon Hills. She knew what she and Mikel did that fateful day wasn't enough to keep that monster trapped between worlds forever. It was a temporary fix but she made herself believe it would last. The fact that Zelenia had been getting dreams about him indicated otherwise. She kept in contact with the Hale family who have assured her that nothing was out of the ordinary. However about a month ago, she stopped hearing from them. It was too risky to reach out to Alan, she didn't want to attract the attention of the elders.
When Zelenia was born, the elders warned her of the girl's fate. Because of the blood that ran through her veins, she was destined to destroy the darkness- but in order to do that, she would have to sacrifice her life. Being that powerful put a target on her back as well as making her a weapon that could be used by the elders- whom she still did not trust. Artemis knew that staying in Beacon Hills would mean that the elders would never rest until they could eventually control whatever power Zelenia had and it wouldn't be long before every other supernatural creature came after her as well. Artemis would rather die than let anything happen to her precious daughter so she decided to pack up her family and run. She promised herself that she would try her best to make sure that her little girl had a future despite what the elders told her. She made sure she wrote a journal containing everything Zelenia needed to know, just in case the worst happened- before the move, she was able to leave it in the capable hands of Alan Deaton, one of the few people she trusted, who would pass it on to Zelenia if she and Mikel were no longer around.
Despite Zelenia's young age, Artemis allowed her to see a small part of what their world was like by letting her train with Mikel. Deep down she knew that time was running out, she was already running out of excuses as to why Mikel disappeared during a full moon and it was only a matter of time before her own powers as well as Zelenia's, would start showing itself- even mountain ash had it's limits. She moved to the couch and Mikel took a seat beside her. "Artie... we have to go back eventually... You and I both know that the prison isn't going to hold forever..." he softly said while holding Artemis in his arms. Tears falling from her eyes, she looked at him. "I know Mike... But when we do, we can't take her with us... We need to call Gracie... "
