Epilogue: The Beginning of the New Age
Jack yawned as he awoke. The sun shined brightly out his window and the young Overland couldn't help but smile. It was a beautiful day, and he couldn't wait to get outside and play.
Jack slid out of bed and opened the door, being careful not to wake up his sister, Mary, who was sleeping in her crib on the other side of the room. Jack stepped out of his bedroom and headed toward the front door and opened it. He took a deep breath and smiled. He saw children running around and playing with each other. They looked less fearful than they had a couple of days ago.
The brown-haired boy had noticed changes that one wouldn't notice right away. Children no longer walked around strained and tight, but now ran around freely without a care in the world. Just a few days ago, there were more fearful expressions than smiles, but not, kids were grinning from ear to ear. It seemed as if all of the fear and nightmares had been washed away.
Jack had a feeling that Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman had something to do with all of this. Jack knew that something strange was up. The increase in nightmares and how everyone lived in fear. Jack wondered if the group had stopped the source of all of that fear, which Jack guessed was the Boogeyman.
Jack looked up into the sky. He could still make out the moon behind the peach-colored clouds. He smiled.
"I feel like you had something to do with this too," said Jack. "And I just want to say, thanks. Thanks for whatever you did."
And Jack didn't notice it, but the Moon seemed to shimmer a response as a sleigh flew across the sky.
