Chapter 1
Has anyone thought about Jake time traveling or get sent to a different world where he meets Zuko? Well look no further ladies and gents. Because this is the story where Jake and Haley meets Zuko, and where they journey together to the end of the summer. Will they rewrite history, or will they make sure that the future will be the same?
Also this takes place after Hong Kong Long in American Dragon: Jake Long and at the start of Avatar the Last Airbender.
"Now remember students, everyone must participate in the family tree event to give a report or a demonstration of your family ancestors' heritage. It will be part of your final grade on history this semester, so don't slug off! For it will reflect on your future."
Every student in the classroom moan as Rotwood handed out the assignment papers to them. Jake glares at the paper in his hands, thinking that this could be another of Rotwood's trick to expose his family's secret.
'This could be tricky, but Rotwood is a fool to think I'll be giving away any of my family's secret.' Jake thought, as he formulates a plan to only share some of his family's culture without revealing that his family are dragons. Although it does sounds hard now that he thought about it.
The final bell rings as everyone got up from their desk, pack up, and headed out. In his prosses of leaving, Jake was violently shoved off to the desk by the school's local bully. Brad Morton. "Oops. Sorry Long, didn't see ya there. Just like I don't see your lame family's legacy existing." He said mockingly his fake apologies, "The Brad-ster is going to win this event, I already know that my families roots goes all the way back to the Vikings." Brad boosted.
Picking himself back up, Jake gives brad a cold hard stare at the notorious dumb jock. "This isn't a contest." Jake talks back, "Then let's make it into one." Said Brad, "The loser will be the winner's servant throughout the rest of the school year, that also include through high school." Jake stares at the dumb bully hoping that he would shut up.
He took Jake's silence as a 'Yes' and with a laugh to boost his ego Brad had left the classroom leaving Jake figure out how to make his presentation better without any loose end secrets.
Time Skip to Loa Shi's shop
"Come on G, there's got to be something in our family that doesn't involve exposing our family's secret." Jake begs his grandfather, "I'm sorry Jake, but our family's history has many ties to dragons over centuries." Lao Shi explain, "But what if I don't say anything about us being dragons? Shouldn't that be enough?" Jake asked.
"Yeah, com' on, gramps. Jake-y doesn't need to tell his family's secret. He can just bend the truth about dragons." Said Trixie, while Spud commented, "It's still a life mystery if cultural folktales from long, long, long ago are even true or not." Fu-Dog walks over to them, "Kid I may be 600 years old, but I doubt there's any no turnin' dragon person in your family tree. A-hen."
The front door opens, and standing there was Jake's little sister, Haley, out of breath. "Grandpa, I need help. My school is having a family-" Loa Shi raises his hand to stop his granddaughter, "Wait until you've catch your breath." She did as her grandfather told her to do. Spud ask her, "Your school is doing a family heritage event too?"
Haley nodded her head, "Same, so uh, you're stuck in the same boat as Jake then." Said Spud, jabbing his thumb back to where his friend is standing.
Lao Shi, who is in thought about their family's roots and to what the children were saying, came to a decision, "Actually. There is something you can use for your presentation." He got off from his seat and headed to the back of the shop, to the upper floor with the kids and Fu-Dog in tow.
They follow Lao Shi to the attic where they find tons of old stuff stored away for who knows how long. "This maybe helpful to you my young dragons, but be warn, once you know our ancestor's legacy you may not like the answers you'll hope to find."
Lao Shi pulls out a key from his robe and unlocks a medium size box and inside were scrolls and tomes written in ancient Chinese characters. "I myself, and many others before me, have had a hard time to decode our family's testimonies." Lao Shi puts on a pair of gloves before he takes out a scroll and brought it to a table, slowly and gently Loa Shi unrolls the scroll to reveal a painting of six people.
From the left was a boy with the weirdest ponytail Jake as ever seen, welding a sword. Down below was a woman holding fans in both hands, dress in a warrior kimono with face paint. Next to them on the right was a girl whose eyes look every clouded not sure if it was drawn that way or it aged over timing, but she was in a tense Hung ga stand. The next person was also a girl, she had long hair tied into a braid with loops attach to the side. Jake recognize the stand as a form of tai chi, but what was the silk forming in front of her is supposed to be? Water? Next was another boy in baggy looking tunic and pants, standing in a Northern Shaolin kung fu fighting stands, and in front of him looked like a trail of fire. Squinting a bit closer, Jake thought he saw a shaded area on the guy's face on the opposite side. And the last person was a bold boy dressed as a monk with an arrow tattooed on his head, in what Jake to believe is the Bagua stands, and brush strokes that look like wind blowing around.
"These young people are the hero's that had put an end to a Hundred Year War, over nearly 20,000 years ago." Lao Shi explained, "Yo, are you sayin' Your ancestor was a war veteran?" said Trixie, "There is not much to unravel, the rest of our family's history is locked away in a temple volt guarded by the sages overseas." Loa Shi then points to the boy in the Northern Shaolin kung fu stands, "The only intel I have to share is this young man here. Is our ancestor, Zuko."
'Zuko.' Jake and Haley look closely at the old painting, they can now see that Zuko has some sharp facial features that Jake also shares in his appearance.
"Why locked away in a temple?" Jake ask his grandfather, "There were many strange and mystical things back then, some are tied to the magical world. Or what was once also called the Spirit World." Said Loa Shi, "Time has changed a lot and some knowledge that we know of now where once used back then over time. They had been lost for eons, before they've been reinvented over time. And the people back then had a gift that is pretty much like magic itself, the ability to control four different elements."
The kids let out a gasp of shock and amazement, "Cool. Were these people were like witches and wizards?" Spud ask, "No. They were called Benders, but today their forms are now well know of four Chinese martial arts. Tai Chi, for the flow of water. Hung ga, for boldness of strength like the earth. Northern Shaolin Kung fu, inhale and exhale much like fire strong and dynamic. Finally, Bagua for constantly moving as the air around us."
"This is amazing, grandpa. But how does this ties to our dragon Chi and not exposing?" Haley ask politely, "That's because this was before us, and any other families could turn into dragons." Loa Shi answered, "And there were dragons back then, but not as the same as you and I."
Now this was a huge shock for the young Long family members, this was a complete mind blown! "Gramps this is perfect! Thank you!" Jake hug his grandfather with Haley joining in on the hug. "But I'm confuse, how did our family gain dragon chi? Isn't there more to our family's history? How did the war end?"
Loa Shi look at his grandson and said with disappointment weighing on his chest, "I'm afraid I do not know. All of the answers lays in the temple."
Suddenly the alarms went off, the alarms to the Magical storage. Everyone runs down to the shop to find that the Uchrono Hourglass has been stolen. "This ain't good." Said Fu-Dog, as he rushes to the laptop to replay the security tapes and what they saw was someone they know. Someone who is a warlock who they hope was gone forever. Eli Excelsior Pandarus. "This is really not good!"
Time Skip close to night
In central park, Eli held the Uchrono Hourglass up to the air and let out a sinister cackle. "With this, I will make sure my future is set. And no one will get in my way!"
"Think again, Eli pandorkus!" Jake, Haley, and Lao Shi swoop in onto the scene with Jake's friends skateboarding beside him, and Loa Shi carrying Fu-Dog on his back. With a wave of his wand, Eli summons his minions and orders them, "ATTACK!" with a shout.
Jake and Lao Shi handle the minions with a couple of punches, kicks, and tail whips while Trixie and Spud kept Eli focus on them to draw out his fire, "So about that genius school thing. You seem pretty stupid not to know how to open your own family box." Said Spud mockingly, Eli shots his dark magic at him, but Spud skateboard out of the way causing him to miss. "Yeah, what's up with that? E? You're so dumb my grandma can beat chu at crossword puzzles in five minutes." Trixie added more salt to the wounds, infuriating the dark wizard even more.
While he was distracted, Haley and Fu try to steal the Uchrono Hourglass off from his grasp. "No… stop… Stop it…" but he keeps them out of arms reach, or bite reach. "ENOUGH!" With a wave of his wand and a chanting of spells, Eli traps Jake and Loa Shi in a binding spell, while Spud and Trixie are held down by the ogres, and Haley was also held by a binding spell as a hostage. And Fu-Dog was, well, cornered by the ogres.
"Now then…" Eli opens the Uchrono Hourglass and set the time far back before either of his and everyone's birth. Back before the Magical world came to be. "It's time to make my legacy to known throughout history!"
But before he could get it to activate it, Haley uses her tail to whack it out of his hand. Although she had failed to angle the projection of where the Uchrono Hourglass would land, it hit a small bolder causing it to shatter into four pieces and the time portal opens up and starts to suck in the closest people. Which is Haley, Eli, and Fu-Dog.
"Haley!" Jake cried out as he breaks free of the binds holding him down and races to his sister's aid, only to be sucked into the time portal with them. While Loa Shi, Trixie, and Spud watches in heartbreak.
"Jake! Haley! Fu-Dog!"
With Jake, Haley, and Fu-Dog
In the portal, Jake flew after Haley and Fu. Eli shots a spell at Jake but he dodges it as he grabs his sister and pulls her out of Eli's grasp while Fu-Dog bites down on his leg. "AAhhh!" screaming in pain, Eli lets go, as Jake, Haley, and Fu-Dog tries to retreat back. Only to be pulled further down the sands of time.
The four pieces of the Uchrono Hourglass came to a halt at the date of 99 AG and vanish within the portal, along with the three heroes and one villain.
The next thing Jake knew before blacking out was that the air was cold, supper cold. And there was a big black metal ship, and a there was a voice shouting, "Off to the starboard! Children drifting on an ice caps!"
So that's the first chapter.
I just have so many ideas its hard to contain them when you are writing on something else when you want to complete it, and then it slowly dies away, and you start to lose interest in writing it. And this was one of those stories that you've lost interest before you started to write it, but now it's revived.
Hope you like it. Until next time.
