Chapter 7

Imprisoned

Sorry for the wait, I had a really relaxing weekend, it was great. A way to refresh my mind and to release some stress I had inside. A great hot rock massage I would recommend it to anyone who is under a lot of tension in their bodies, it's not that painful as you would think it is. (This was before Thanksgiving)

Also, I wasn't expecting to post this after Thanksgiving.

It would seem that Jake was right about Zuko letting Haley back in to learn more firebending tactics once Jake completed his. The two siblings were now on equal grounds with firebending lessons.

After a while, the two siblings decided to start on writing down their family's ancestor project. Of course, they have to tweak a few things to make the essay more understanding, because there are lines between folktales, myths, legends, and true events.

"There are few who do believe, while others don't or won't accept the truth." Lao Shi once said to Jake.

If the world found out about people could bend four different elements in the past, it would lead to people and scientists trying to recreate bending or experiment on others to make benders. The very thought of it terrifies the three-time travelers.

So, to stay on the safe side, Jake and Haley only wrote down the names of the martial arts for each form of bending and how they are connected to the elements to their nations.

So far, it's a good plan.

The next day, Iroh decided to let the kids to have a break on their firebending training and let them have some fun.

Haley decided to invite Iroh to a tea party with Fu Dog and the Cook. In dresses having tea, sandwiches, and cakes. While Jake tries creating a vintage skateboard for himself, with the help from the mechanic. It wasn't exactly like his original one from home, but it was close to what the first skateboards looked like back in 1940-1960's.

Jake made at least six different skateboards each one either longer, shorter, slower, faster, heavy, or light. It was safe to test them in a room on the ship, but on deck when the ship is moving? That's a nope if you want to go overboard.

So, it's best to try them out once they've reached any land to dock their ship.

As of right now, Jake was trying to think of something else to do without exposing the crew about where he, Haley, and Fu come from. He tried practicing his Firebending katas with a mix of his hip hop dancing skills and found it to be both great use in battle and a bad use to practice out on huge ocean waves.

That's where Zuko found Jake hanging over the railing hurling out his guts. "Curse you seasickness." Jake groaned out.

"Are you feeling better?" Zuko ask his descendant grandson, "Never better." Jake replied. "What were you doing?" Zuko asked again, Jake reply, "I was trying out a new style of firebending, by mixing it with some of my hip hop."

Zuko just gave Jake a confusing look, "What and what?" Jake sheepishly grins and explains, "It's a type of dance style back home, I'm actually really good at it. Heck. Back at your fight with Zhao you actually did a bit of a hip hop move on him, when you swiped the dude off his feet."

"Really?" Zuko look back to his victory against Zhao in Agni Kai and tries to picture that quick sweep attack he did as a dance. It's both interesting, and a little weird because he can't really see himself as a dancer.

"Yes." Said Jake, "I guess you can say it's like being an acrobat while moving your whole body to the beat of the music." "Are you an acrobat, Jake?" Zuko ask, "I'm a gifted athlete." Jake answered, "Though that's because of my dragon training with Gramps. I hardly don't use them when I'm me." Jake says quietly as he gestures to his human body.

"Make sense." Said Zuko, "Dragons are known for having strong acrobatic agilities." That's when an idea came to him.

"Jake. How would you like to learn some new skills besides firebending?"

The first skill Zuko taught Jake was how to slip into the shadows without making a single sound, followed by running in silent not allowing the guards to hear you.

But the most unique skill Jake gets to learn from his ancestor was how to wield a sword.

In the weapon storage, Jake examens every sword and staff in the room but none of them stood any interest to Jake, "Each sword is different, and a different type of sword works for each swordsman. You should pick the sword that feels right to you, because the swords are an extension of yourself."

Jake turns to Zuko and said, "That's quite a wisdom you got there, Zuko." Zuko shook his head with a phantom smile, "They're not my words, they were my master's." Zuko corrected.

"Really?" said Jake, while Zuko says, "With how I struggle on my firebending, Uncle thought of having me to learn swordplay. I thought I wouldn't be good at that either, but it turns out I'd really enjoyed it and became very great at it."

Zuko then ask Jake a question, "So do you have an idea of what kind of sword you want to choose from?"

Jake thought back of his times when he used weapons back on his missions and had always felt like he can use all of them. But the one type of weapon that felt right in his hands were two sets of blades.

And Zuko's dual dao blades that he has hanging up in his chamber, really spoke to him.

"I think I might have something in mind."

It's scary enough to know that your descendant looks so much like you when you were around their age, not to mention to have the same voice and a slight change different of personality, and yet still expressions their emotions to a 'T'.

And now, learning swordplay and wanting to have dual dao blades for one's weapon? It's starting to be too much for Zuko to handle.

But seeing how Jake is able to wield such blades so well, puts a small smile on Zuko's face.

"Not bad, just a couple more training practices and you'll be ready to have your own set of dual doa blades." Said Zuko. "Keep in mind, these are dual swords. Two halves of a single weapon. Don't think of them as separate, 'cause they're not. They're just two different parts of the same whole."

Zuko gives Jake a small demonstration, swinging his dual blades and cuts two of his four candles so elegantly. He hands the sword to Jake and tries the same demonstration; it wasn't as elegant as Zuko's, but he did manage to cut the remaining two candles at the same length as the other two.

Jake smile at Zuko, who returns it with a much kindness.

The next day, It was pretty much the same. Meditate, breakfast, Fire Bending, reading maps, writing down info on their family tree, lunch, sword training, play, tea, and dinner at sunset.

It was close to sunset when word of a waterbender girl was sighted at a prison brig, and it just so happens that the brig just had a breakout, and it wasn't too far off from their course. At his command, Zuko's ship headed for that Fire nations prison brig.

Zuko step off his ship with Jake and Fu Dog following close behind, "Prince Zuko. It is an honor to have you to visit my brig." The Warden greeted him before eyeing Jake and his dog, "Are these newer editions you brought to my prison?"

The Warden received a cold harsh glare from the prince, "Jake, Fu and his sister are with me." Zuko's message was loud and clear, 'Don't ever touch them, or you'll be burned.' And the warden backs down and let them pass.

After a little searching, Zuko found a familiar blue necklace on the ground next to some coal. He picks it up in his fingers, lifting it to stare at it grimly.

"The Avatar and his friends were here." Said Zuko, but they had just missed them. "If we hurry, we can try to catch up to them." Said Jake.

Hopefully they aren't too far away.

That's it for chapter 7.

I'm actually proud of myself to get this done before this month ends, and I promise to my Hazbin Falls Hotel readers that I'll try to get the next chapter updated, I'm just stuck on a writer's block and a scene transaction. I don't want to jump to the next scene and leave all of the audience confuse to what's going on.

I did a little bit of research on when skateboards were invented, and my hunch was correct on which timeline they first appeared in. 1940-1960's

Fu Dog's number count on Zuko and Jake being so alike.

1: They have the same voice. (duh)
2: Their facial appearance are similar. (Jake looks like a younger version of Zuko if you change the hair style a bit.)
3: They have a prodigy little sister. (But one of them is a psychopath)
4: They have fire in their souls. (Inner fire and dragon fire)
5: They struggle in their studies.
6: They are quick to anger.
7: They despise people who have a huge ego, full of themselves, and enjoy putting others down before them they see as weaklings. (Zhao and Brad)
8: They love and care for the animals with a passion.
9: They have a strong desire to protect others.
10: They don't think things through.
11: They are good at handling weapons.

PREVIEW: Jake and Haley find another away to contact their grandpa.
