Of Demons and Gods
Chapter One
\
I screamed, hot tears burning down my cold face.
I was desperate.
Desperate for them to give me a chance to explain myself.
Desperate for them to give me a chance before damning me to a fate I didn't deserve.
Desperate for them to listen to me.
But their faces were cold, there was no compassion, there was no tolerance.
Words of a heretic were the words of the Devil as far they were concerned.
And so, they threw me, threw me into the Cave, landing with a hard thud.
I could only stare as they sealed the tunnel, leaving me there, alone, cold, and in the dark.
Until monsters came. Horrifying monsters, with fur and claws, glowing eyes and open maws dripping. Hungry for flesh, bodies poised to tear me apart. To rend flesh from bone, until nothing remained.
I screamed once more.

Cain
Waking up from a nightmare was always frustrating.
The room was silent, except for the sound of his ragged breathing echoing off his empty bedroom walls.
He opened his eyes, staring at the blank expanse that was his ceiling.
He could feel his heartbeat, pulsing, pounding against his ribcage as if wanting to be let out.
Even his left eye felt hot, ready for battle, adrenaline coursing through his veins.
Yet he forced himself to remember the exercise.
Take a deep breath.
In and out, in and out.
And so he did, lying there on his bed, trying to calm himself down.
He had tried to bury it, leaving it behind, but it kept coming back. The irrational fears, they should have no power over him, nothing to lord over him.
Yet they still did.
It was honestly frustrating.
He had tried to tell himself, using logic as his blade, that everything was in the past, that there was nothing you could do, and that they couldn't hurt him anymore.
Yet, as he sat himself upright and lifted his hands up to his eyes, they were still visibly trembling.
Shaking uncontrollably.
He buried his face in his hands. These morning episodes were honestly pathetic as fuck.
The King of Jade, Bane of Khaos, the Strongest Human Magician, and the equal of the Sage, reduced to this after a mere PTSD episode over some fucking Strays?
If the damn monkey could see him now, he'd probably be laughing his ass off.
He sighed. There was no point in going down that rabbit hole this early in the morning.
Pulling his hands away from his face, he glared at his hands, as if daring them to shake.
After making sure that they had stopped trembling, he yawned, rubbing the sleepiness out his eyes. He was never much of a morning person, and it was a shame that he had to go to school.
He could really use some coffee right about now.
Wait, what time was it?
A quick glance at the clock told him that he was fucked.
He groaned, he just wanted his coffee goddammit.
/
Cain
Finishing up my tie with my left hand and hastily conjuring up a circle with my right hand, I was on a bit of a time crunch. Needless to say, I wasn't having the best start to the morning.
Grabbing my backpack by it's strap and slinging it over my shoulder, I quickly hopped through it, before landing on the other side.
My left eye glowed under my eyepatch. There was still a good 10 minutes before class would start.
"I thought I told you to stop doing that Cain."
I turned around, to meet the eyes of Souna Shitori.
Well…not really.
Souna was over 20 centimeters shorter than me, so I had to crank my neck down to meet her at eye level.
Most people in my place would be scared, terrified even. Souna Shitori, the 3rd most desired woman on campus, the Student President, and nicknamed Ice Princess (ironically), was a scary woman, with an even scarier glare.
There was even a (funny) rumour that said that if Sona took her glasses off, she would petrify you, turning you into a stone statue.
I just wondered if she would get mad if I squatted down so I didn't have to tilt my head down this much to look her in the eyes. Neck pain was an issue that I would rather avoid.
It was obvious why she was frustrated though, popping into the Student Council Room unannounced, was a bit rude.
But if there was one thing I had learned from Serafall, it was that trolling should always be your first line of defense, your first excuse in getting caught.
"Sorry about that." I replied. "I'll knock next time". The shit-eating grin on my face made it abundantly clear that I would do anything but that.
She glared at me before huffing. We both knew that I would happily continue down this pointless rabbit hole if nothing else.
Serafall taught me well.
I smiled, Sona always a bit of a tsun-tsun, even when it came to family. That was what made teasing her so fun. Her attempts to act professional were always cheek-pinching adorable, as Serafall would say.
"Um, Kaicho, why is Cain-senpai here?". An unfamiliar voice reaching my ear.
I turned around, before realizing that the rest of Sona's Peerage was in the room as well.
Ah, looks like they were having a meeting in the room. That would explain why Sona was so angry.
Huh? There was an extra one?
I stared at the unfamiliar blonde haired kid.
A bit on the short side, grey eyes, and a wavy haircut….
What was his name?
I blanked. To be fair, I was never the best with names.
Now, didn't it begin with S or something?
Was it Shinji? Nah that sounds wrong. It was something Sa?
Or was it something like Sai? No that also seems off, close thought.
Oh right, Saji!
My left eye glowed once more, the light covered by my eyepatch.
Genshirou Saji, the kid who had a crush on Sona…. Oh~ And one that Sona might be reciprocating….. Now this would be great.
I smiled, "Yo, I'm So-tan's brother, Cain! Nice to meet you Genshirou-san.", before plopping down onto a nearby sofa chair, watching what I had just said unleash chaos into the ordinarily very efficient (dull) room.
I could see how red Sona's face was getting, how far Saji's jaw dropped, and how the rest of her peerage giggled.
If the glare I had gotten from Sona the first time around could be considered mildly irritating, the glare this time was downright violent.
Of course, I merely smiled, and waved at Saji, completely ignoring the fact that Sona was trying to make my spontaneously combust with her stare alone, an ability that she, luckily for me, did not possess.
The blonde pawn seemed to finally snap out of his shock.
"EH!?"
If it were possible, Sona glared harder at me.
Fortunately for Sona, her Queen came to the rescue.
Ahhhh, Tsubaki-chan was always a good Queen after all, covering for her King in her moment of weaknesses.
"Genshirou-san, please lower your voice. Cain-senpai isn't actually related to Kaichou." The dark haired beauty patiently explained.
"Eh? Then why did he call himself Sona's brother then?" The blonde pawn asked, confusion evident on his face.
Tsubaki pinched the bridge of her nose.
"Cain-senpai here enjoys teasing Sona, and wants to see her flustered."
The only male Devil in the room scrunched his face up in confusion.
"So he isn't Sona's brother? If so why is Kaichou getting so worked up?"
Sona, who had been sitting in the background, finally got over her embarrassment, and blurted out:
"Because he's dating my sister."
Saji blinked, before pointing at me, and facing towards Sona.
"Isn't your sister a Maou, Kaicho? Why's she dating him?"
Before turning towards me, and realizing what he had just implied.
"No offense of course, senpai."
As harsh as that might be, what Saji said was logically sound from an outsider's perspective.
Why would Serfall, the Leviathan, a Demon King of Hell decide to pick me, a human, as her partner?
Afterall, as the only female Maou, and the only way for a Devil to become the spouse of a Demon King with the Lucifer being happily married, Ajuka being married to his work, and Falbium being asexual (the man was too lazy to find a partner, preferring to spend his time sleeping), Serafall was the only possible door to gaining immense political power.
Of course, the fact that Serafall was quite the beauty and one of the most sought after female Devils, based off of appearances alone, only made the "prize" all the more sweeter. Apart from immense political power and beauty, Serafall was also the strongest female Devil, a solid upper Ultimate-classed mage, meant that she was also sought after by those who wished to bolster their family line. After all, with her children possessing the blood of a Demon King was something that few could resist.
As a result, a sizable portion of the male supernatural population sought after her, if not for the political power, then for her looks, and if not for her looks, for her bloodline.
And with so many people after her, Serafall was not at all lacking in choices for partners.
I wasn't particularly outstanding in any fields, I didn't have the charisma that Devils seemed to naturally have, nor did I have the inhumane beauty and charm that most supernatural beings were blessed with. The only rare physical traits I had were my white hair and "heterochromia" eyes.
So why would the Leviathan choose someone like me? When there were so many better options?
I sat there, with an amused grin, staring at Sona, waiting for her to respond. We both knew the answer, but I just want to hear her compliment me.
The answer was quite simply really.
A singular black eye met violet.
She blinked first.
"Because he's powerful," Sona stated bluntly.
"Now now Sona-chan, you know that's not true" I chided, a wide grin on my face. Honestly, I could care less about the praise, having sat through more hours of political discussions that I would like, false, honied words speaking praise only to further their own goals. Words meant nothing.
But watching how frustrated Sona was? Now that was worth more than gold.
Saji only looked more confused, brows furrowed as if he was in deep thought.
"No offense Cain-senpai, but Kaichou, he doesn't feel like anything other than a mundane human? I'm pretty sure even I can take him. Are you sure?".
Sona sighed. It was obvious that she hated to explain this, and the shit-eating grin on my face only aggravated her further. Definitely worth more than gold.
"Yes, Cain is indeed human, but just because he's human, doesn't mean he's weak. He's on par with Grayfia Lucifuge, an Ultimate-class devil. And it is estimated if he chose to reincarnate as a Devil, he would become the Fourth Super Devil." Sona responded robotically.
Saji gaped, shock evident on his face, before backing away from me, realizing just who he was next to.
I merely smiled, and waved back at him.
It might have been a bit narcissistic, but watching the shock on people's faces was always hilarious. Sure the first few times were a bit awkward, but you got used to it after the umpeenth time when a Pillar head who had initially dismissed you, paled after realizing that you were not in fact an invalid or a mere servant.
Praise may be empty words, but their physical response was quite funny.
Another mental calculation told me that it was nearly class time. Hopping onto my feet and slinging my bag over my shoulders, I stood up.
"Well, I'll be on my way now. Nice to meet you Gehshirou-san, nice to see you again So-tan, toodles~"
As I made my way towards the door, Sona piped up once more.
"You know I want to talk to you about Serafall, when are you going to talk to me?"
I paused at the front door.
Fuck, I really didn't want to do this.
I sighed, before deciding "After school", before heading out the door.
My day had been going so well too.
/
Sona
Sona sighed, massaging her forehead.
"If you have any questions, feel free to ask them." She said to her blonde pawn.
It was obvious that Saji was confused, everything he had been taught about the supernatural had just been flipped upside down. Cain had a tendency to do that, an anomaly even amongst the supernatural.
"Uh, ok Kaichou. Why's Cain-senpai-"
"So nice?"
"Yeah. Well, it's not like he's not nice normally, but he's always so gloomy, you know what I mean? He doesn't talk to anyone, and doesn't really bother socializing, so seeing him actually talk and joke around was kinda weird."
"Well, Cain doesn't really open up to strangers. His passive ability allows him a form of clairvoyance, and it makes him a bit…. detached. Not to mention other things he's been through."
The blonde pawn was confused, well, again.
"What kind of Sacred Gear allows clairvoyance?"
Sona tilted her head, confused.
"What makes you think it's a Sacred Gear?"
Saji scratched the back of his head.
"Well, I mean, how else would Cain-senpai have a supernatural ability? He felt completely human, and there didn't seem to be a Holy weapon on him. So how else would he be able to be on par with the Strongest Queen? "
Sona sighed, damn, it seemed like she's been doing that a lot recently. Cain was always good at giving her headaches. When she had first heard that Serafall was dating someone, she had hoped that it would calm Serafall down, or that the poor bastard would divert some of the chaotic Magical Girl's attention.
Well, it had, but instead of ridding the chaoticness of the woman known as Serafall Leviathan, the madness had merely been transferred. Thank god her sister has stopped wearing a damn Magical Girl uniform, but the fact that there were two sources of chaos in her life now seemed to make up for Serafall's recent maturity.
She was ranting mentally again wasn't she? Dammit Cain.
She shook her head, get back on track Sona, stop letting Cain live in your head rent free, she chided herself, before returning to the topic at hand.
"Saji, you realize that not all humans are mundane right? While most of the human population is mundane and unaware of the supernatural world, a small portion of them are aware. There're magicians, exorcists, mercenaries, champions, and martial artists that are part of the supernatural, even without a Sacred Gear", Sona lectured.
Saji mulled this over, before coming up with another question.
"Then what ability allows for Cain-senpai clairvoyance?"
"Sage's Wisdom"
/
Jin
He hated the rest of them.
Cao Cao and the Hero Faction were human supremacists who wanted to commit genocide on literally all non-human races, under the guide of "protecting mankind". Wannabe heroes that hid their true intentions behind a banner of "righteousness".
The Old Satan Faction were essentially Devil Nazis with a fetish for "pure blood", but somehow worse. Like how the hell were you guys able to become worse than a Devil and a Nazi? Yet, somehow the Old Satan Faction managed it.
Nilrem was a faction full of sociopaths and deceiving backstabbers, the fact that they were magical only made it worse. They would do anything to "further their craft and magic", including but not limited to kidnapping orphans, torturing orphans, and killing orphans. He didn't know what was their fascination with orphans and virgin females, but he honestly couldn't care less. They reminded him too often of that bastard.
And then there was the cannon fodder. The vultures and hyenas that made up more than half of the group, who hoped to gain a piece of Ophis's power, or some amount of power. Beggars that wanted power, but wouldn't work for it.
Honestly, he wondered sometimes if it was worth staying in the group.
The only decent people he actually talked to were members of "Team Vali".
Vali was a bit obsessive with fighting him, but was still decent to talk to, Bikou was a bit annoying at times, but they could both relate to a certain degree, Arthur was a bit stoic, but was a good person overall, and Le Fay was like the little sister that he never had.
Making his way back inside the hotel, he strode towards the back of the hotel lobby and pressed the up button.
Stepping in the elevator and pressing the 20th floor button, he thought it over a bit more, before shaking his head.
No matter what he thought, Ophis didn't give a damn. The dragon god was adamant on him joining the Khaos Brigade, muttering something about he would "grow to become a great tool against Baka Red".
Great, the Dragon God of Infinity thought that he would be of help against the Dragon of Dragons. The literal strongest being in all of existence.
He made his way out of the elevator, a scowl clear on his normally smiling face. Just thinking about the dragon loli pissed him off.
Even if he were to try to escape, the only being that would pose a threat to his escape was Ophis ironically.
He was fairly certain that he could take down each of the "heads" of the Khaos Brigade individually.
Cao Cao, despite his legendary pointy stick, wasn't a match for him in close combat, Vali couldn't safely divide his energy, Rizevim didn't care enough to even try and stop him, and even Walburga's flames weren't a threat to him, since he could overwhelm her before she could even cast the first flame. He chucked, that was the problem with mages. All of their most powerful spells needed a magical circle or even a few words to activate, meaning that casting times took a fraction of a second. And in a high-level battle, that was time that mages did not have.
And seeing how all of them would rather lose a limb than cooperate, dealing with multiple leaders at once wasn't an issue.
But Ophis, that was a different story. As the fucking Ouroboros, she was essentially the definition of overkill. There was no weapon that could actually harm her, her magical pool was infinite.
Meaning that she was an invincible mage who could endlessly throw magic.
There was a reason why the Dragon God resided in the Dimensional Gap after all.
The only way that he could match Ophis is if he could somehow manage to make his way into the Dimensional Gap and convince the Great Red, the only being equal, or maybe even above Ophis, to protect him and his lovely girlfriends.
He chuckled, now that was a great joke.
Arriving at his hotel room, he slid the key card and opened the door.
He placed the bags in his hands on the table in the corner of the room, before carefully walking up to the bed.
It was certainly a pleasant sight, a busty black haired beauty clinging onto a smaller, petite, white haired girl.
Of course the twitching ears and flickering tails only made the entire scene more enticing. After all, the only thing better than two hot girls in your bed was two hot catgirls in your bed. The fact that they were both his only made it all the more appealing.
He could feel himself gro- before shaking his head, there was a time and place for that and it sure as hell wasn't now.
He sighed, waking up Kuroka and Shirone was always a bit complicated.
Being nekoshous, they had some cat-like qualities, apart from their appendages. One such quality was their fondness of sleep. Granted, they didn't sleep nearly as much as actual cats (Thank God), but they both greatly enjoyed their beauty sleep. This translated to a very violent response to being woken up abruptly. Also, because of their extra pair of ears and heightened senses, nekoshou were very light sleepers, which made waking the pair up only more delicate and difficult.
He had learned his lesson, after years of living with them, and learned a way to wake them up without triggering their fight response and him ending up with his face clawed.
It was a simple solution. Scratching their ears. All youkai with an extra set of ears enjoy getting their extra pair of ears scratched. While some mistakenly believe that the ears were erogenous zones, truth be told, scratching their ears is more akin to scratching an itch, a very pleasant feeling. It was simple as that. Moving close to them, and scratching their ears with both his hands.
He made his way to the left side of bed, before reaching out with his hands.
After a couple seconds of scratching Kuroka's set of ears atop her head, Kuroka opened her eyes, amber orbs blearily blinking, before taking a light yawn.
He had already moved to the right side, repeating the process with Shirone.
Both nekoshou sat up, before stretching themselves, not unlike how a cat would after a nap, while he blatantly stared at the interesting things that stretching did to Kuroka's chest.
Boing boing indeed….
"Nya."
He snapped out of it, and turned his head toward the noise, and realized that Shirone was pouting, cheeks puffed out adorably. Her ears twitching and tails slapping the mattress angrily.
The smaller, white haired neko was angry.
He slid onto the bed, wrapping his arms around the small petite neko, before burying his face into her neck
"Sorry Shiro". He muttered, scratching her cat ears and patting her on the head.
/
Shirone
Shirone would deny it until the end of time, but she was in fact insecure about her smaller chest. It wasn't that she was flat, thank god, but the sheer difference between her and Kuro-nee. Numbers didn't lie after all. Both Jin and Kuro-nee claimed that she was fine just the way she was, but it was always a sore spot for the younger nekomata.
Of course, Jin outright staring at Kuro's chest, didn't help.
She squirmed under his touch, cheeks still puffed out. No! Forgiveness was not so easily earned. It was a matter of principle and pride for the white haired youkai.
Don't get her wrong, she could care less if Jin was blatantly ogling either Kuro-nee or her. They were his, and he was theirs.
Just like how Kuro-nee and her trusted Jin to not lay his eyes on another woman, Jin trusted Kuro-nee and her to sleep with another man. It was a bond between the three of them. He would always do his best to protect them, and they would always do their best to help him, support him.

She purred. Jin always knew exactly where to scratch. She could get used to this pampering. Snuggling closer, she took in his scent. Jin always smelled nice, his natural scent always reminded her of a nice…...
/
Jin
Jin sighed, sitting on the bed, enjoying Shirone's warm and soft body. The smaller neko had fallen asleep almost immediately after cuddling against him. He kept stroking Shirone's back and ears, something that he learned would calm down an annoyed Shirone. Still, he loved having Shirone cuddle up against him. The normally stoic and cool-headed youkai was an adorable kitten while asleep, ears twitching and would latch onto the closest body next to her, something that both him and Kuroka would always fawn over.
Speaking of the black cat….. Where was she?
He glanced around, trying to find her. That was weird, he was certain that he had just woken her up, so where was she?
"Nyya~, why does Jin always ignore poor old Kuro? Does Jin only love Shiro now…."
He could feel Kuroka pressing herself against him, the black haired nekoshou wrapping her arms around Jin's torso, her warm breath on his neck.
It took all of Jin's willpower to not say "fuck it" and ravish her on the bed. The woman would be the death of him, a pleasurable one, but the death of him nonetheless. The things that she could do with her tongue, and the two mounds pressing against his back promised pleasure, sweet, sweet pleasure. A lesser man would have caved in instantly, but Jin had grown used to Kuroka's antics and gained resistance, a small resistance, but resistance none the less.
Taking one of his hands off of petting Shirone, Jin wrapped his arm around Kuroka's waist, and pulled her to his side, ignoring the temptress's yelp, and kissed her. Hard.
Amber eyes widened, before Jin pulled back, his arm pressing Kuroka firmly to his side.
"Please don't joke about that Kuro. You know how much you and Shiro mean to me" He said softly.
Kuroka's lewd smile fell.
Wrapping her slender arms around Jin's neck, she buried her head in the crooks of his neck, so that he wouldn't see the blush on her face.
Just because she was a tease didn't mean she was invulnerable to Jin's blunt compliments goddammit. While other men who had lusted over her, or sought something from her, they would sprout endless compliments, she knew that the words were merely flowery language. That they were merely empty words, that they were merely words to try and get into her pants.
Senjutsu was pretty useful for that kind of thing after all.
But Jin was different.
Jin chuckled, Kuro was all attack and no defense. A tease who appeared lewd, but was a romantic deep down.
He sat there for a long while, with Shirone asleep on his chest and Kuroka by his side.
Kuroka lifted her head up, ears twitching eagerly.
"Did you get breakfast?"

Both Cain and Jin are OCs. Their skillset and powers are based primarily off of God of Highschool, since I feel like it scales quite well with DxD, though there will be other elements as well thrown in to make the story a bit more interesting.
AU elements are thrown in, and if you haven't realized yet, the fact that it isn't Koneko and rather Shirone, should be obvious something happened.
I want to write a story where both protagonist's points of views are shown, so the first half is from Cain's perspective and the second is from Jin's (in case that wsna't clear)
Pairing have been preselected:
Cain x Serafall x ?
Jin x Kuroka x Shirone
And that's the prologue done.
Doubt my quality is anything special, but I do hope to eventually finish the story and give it a rewrite, because goddamn does perfectionism ruin any drive to write.
Don't expect frequent or constant updates, this thing is a hobby, and I don't owe anyone anything (other than the IRS). I'll update when I do.
Thanks for reading, follow and favorite if you enjoyed the story, leave a review as well I guess. Maybe it'll help me update faster, idk.
Keep an eye out on other stories that might be coming out, dunno if they're ever gonna come out of the vault.
It took like 15 minutes for me to format this from Google Docs fan-fic-tion . net (fuck you fanfic- tion - .net, your doc editor is stupid). Someone please send help T-T (I feel like a boomer)
