DISCLAIMER I DO NOT OWN OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM
"Hold still, will you sis?" Hikaru ordered as he grabbed Haruhi's head and looked it over. "I don't see a bump or anything. You don't have a headache or anything do you?"
"No not really," Haruhi said. She noticed Hikaru and Kaoru were both wearing boys uniforms similar to the ones from Ouran but were dark green color.
'Just more confusion,' she thought annoyed.
"The scepter did seem to hit you pretty hard," Kaoru said, "looked like it really hurt."
"Is everything alright here?" Hunny's voice suddenly asked Haruhi saw a more grown version of Hunny coming out of a school office. He even had glasses on.
"Yes Mr. Haninozuka," Hikaru and Kaoru said bowing their heads.
"You sure? I thought I heard a loud crash," said Hunny looking around.
"We uh dropped this Mr. Haninozuka," Hikaru quickly said as he picked up the scepter. "We brought it from home for Mr. Otori to maybe analyze."
"Hmm," Hunny said as he looked the scepter over, "interesting. Well make sure you get to your first period on time."
"We will Mr. Haninozuka," Hikaru and Kaoru said together.
"Oh and uh Mr. Hitachiin and Miss Hitachiin, Mr. Fujioka...," Hunny called out
'Mr. Fujioka?' Haruhi thought looking at Kaoru.
"You did remember to get your science assignments done last night, correct?"
"Yes Mr. Haninozuka," Hikaru said. "We'll be turning them in, no problem."
Hunny gave them a suspicious look.
"Ok," he said, "I can't wait to see how you did." And then he walked back into the office he was in.
Hikaru and Kaoru shared a smirk.
"We missed a few assignments and he doesn't trust us no more," Kaoru said as they walked down.
"We have?" Haruhi said.
Hikaru looked at her in alarm.
"Okay that's it," he declared, "once we give Mr. Otori the scepter, I'm taking you to see the nurse!"
"Fine," Haruhi agreed, deciding it was best not to argue.
"I could take her there right now," Kaoru offered, "or take the scepter to Mr. Otori."
Hikaru looked between him and Haruhi.
"Nah, Mr. Otori's office is just right there," he said as he hurried off.
"He doesn't want us to be alone together, does he?" Kaoru whispered before surprising Haruhi with a kiss on her neck.
Haruhi could feel her eyes bulging out of her head with shock.
Then she noticed Hikaru looking back at them, looking a little annoyed.
"Come on Haruhi!" he called out as he walked back and grabbed Haruhi by her hand and pulled her away from Kaoru.
"Well don't get jealous there Hikaru," Kaoru said.
"I'm not," Hikaru insisted.
But then he whispered in Haruhi's ear.
"You better not be faking an injury just as an excuse to get alone time with Kaoru!"
"You were jealous!" Haruhi whispered back.
She saw Hikaru make a squinting face.
"Well, I still want a chance with him, you know. I mean, he did make out with me just last night," he reluctantly admitted.
'Oh wow,' Haruhi thought, 'so Hikaru and I are twin brother and sister and we're sort of competing over Kaoru?'
She looked back at Kaoru who was following behind. He was smiling but Haruhi couldn't help but think he looked a little guilty. As though he didn't like the idea of the two of them fighting over him.
'Poor Kaoru,' Haruhi thought feeling sorry for him.
"Mr. Otori?" Hikaru said as he, Haruhi and Kaoru walked into a fancy looking office where an older looking version of Kyoya sat, working on his computer.
"Yes Mr. Hitachiin?" he asked as he turned his chair to look at them.
"We brought the scepter we were telling you about," Hikaru said as he handed it to him.
"Oh yes, the one you found in your attic," Kyoya said as he looked it over. "Well I'll see what I can find out about it and let you know what I find."
"Thank you Mr. Otori," Hikaru said.
"Why not stop by before your club meetings after school and I'll share with you what I have found within the meantime," Kyoya said.
"Will do," Hikaru said as he ushered Haruhi and Kaoru out of the office.
"Oh by the way you three," Kyoya spoke up, "did you remember to finish your history homework?"
"Yes Mr. Otori," Hikaru and Kaoru said together.
"I've overhead from some of your other teachers like Mr. Haninozuka and Mr. Morinozuka that you've been a little bit neglectful in turning in your assignments," Kyoya mentioned.
"Don't worry, we're working on not doing that anymore," Haruhi said.
"That's good," Kyoya said, "now then you should be off to your first class. See you for history."
"Yes, Mr. Otori," all three said as they dashed out.
"Good thing Mr. Morinozuka isn't too strict about tardiness," Kaoru mentioned as they hurried down the hallway.
"We still shouldn't be late,' Haruhi mentioned.
"Yeah, yeah," Hikaru brushed off as they continued until they reached the classroom.
As they hurried in, Mori was at the front of the class starting to write some info on the board.
He turned and looked at the three as they came stumbling in, Hikaru and Kaoru laughing. Haruhi had to nudge them to knock it off.
The two quickly composed themselves.
"Since when have you been such a goody-twoshoe?" Hikaru whispered to her.
"You're a little late aren't you?" Mori asked.
"Sorry," all three said as they bowed their heads.
"Please just take your seats," Mori said gesturing to the three empty seats, all separate from each other.
"Of course," Hikaru and Kaoru said as they took their seats. Haruhi took the one last vacant seat.
"Do you also have your homework assignments done?" Mori asked.
"Uh, yeah," Hikaru said as he reached into his bag.
"Right here," Kaoru also said as he reached into his bag.
Haruhi also reached into her bag and found some papers with some math assignments on it, quickly pulling out. As she did, she noticed some of her answers on the sheets weren't right.
"I hope you didn't make some sort of jokes with your answers this time," Mori said as he moved around to collect Kaoru and Hikaru's papers.
'Is that what those are?' Haruhi thought as she realized that the numbers could symbolize letters and spell out words technically.
"Most of the words were correct, Mr. Morinozuka," Hikaru said. Kaoru chuckled.
'Oh, that is what this is supposed to be?' Haruhi thought.
"Words?" Mori said looking at hims sternly.
"I know what I said," Hikaru said smugly.
"Spelling is with Mr. Suoh," Mori said as he reached for Haruhi's paper. Haruhi hesitated to give it to him.
"Haruhi?" Mr. Morinozuka said.
"Could I maybe be permitted an extra day to re-do the assignment? Fix some of my answers?" Haruhi asked timidly.
Everyone looked at her in shock. Some even gasp.
Hikaru and Kaoru looked confused.
"Yes, but you won't get full credit," Mori warned, at most it'll be a low A minues if everything is 100% correct," Mori allowed, "and no hidden jokes."
"Yes Mr. Morinozuka," Haruhi said, "thank you!"
"Good," Mori said as he walked to the front of the class, "let's continue with our newest chapter. Page 78 please."
Haruhi could see Hikaru looking at her with concern.
"We should have taken you to the nurse after all," he whispered.
'I guess this version of me is just as much a prankster as Hikaru and Kaoru,' Haruhi thought.
Hunny and Mori could see Hikaru doing his best to maintain his exposure as he glared at his brother and Haruhi kissing.
"Boy, Hika-Chan isn't enjoying this isn't, is he?" Hunny said sheepishly.
"No," Mori agreed.
Both looked back at Tamaki whaling in the corner over the sight as well.
"So, Kyo-Chan, any ideas what's going on with this Haru-Chan?" Hunny asked.
"No yet. since all she's done so far is kiss Kaoru," Kyoya said as he watched and wrote down some notes.
Hikaru suddenly rushed over to Kaoru and Haruhi and pushed them apart.
"What?" Haruhi asked casually, "don't tell me you're getting jealous Bro."
"Bro?" Hikaru said in confusion.
"Bro?" Kaoru also said, "as in brother?"
Haruhi smirked, "You can't fool me, I know it's you Kaoru and this is Hikaru. I'd know my own brother no matter what kind of disguise he's wearing."
"Brother?" Hikaru and Kaoru said together.
Haruhi looked between them, smirking, but also looking confused.
"Yes," she said slowly, "I'm Hikaru's twin sister, remember?"
"You and Hikaru, twins?" Kaoru said confused.
Haruhi folded her arms. "I'm not falling for this prank you guys. You can't fool me that easily. Even with this clever disguise. You really look like Kaoru, Hikaru."
"Uh, thanks," Hikaru sputtered.
It was then Haruhi glanced up and started to look around.
"Hey uh, where are we? This isn't school," she said. She also looked down at the kimono she was still wearing. "And how come we're not wearing out uniforms? I mean we were just in the hallway weren't we? Going to see Mr. Otori?"
"Hmm, whom do you mean exactly when you say Mr. Otori?" Kyoya spoke up.
Haruhi turned around and had her eyes nearly bulge out of her head.
"Why do all our teachers look like teenagers?" she whispered in confusion.
"Teachers?" Kaoru asked.
"Yeah, Mr. Ohtori, Mr. Haninozuka, Mr. Morinozuka, even Mr. Suoh," Haruhi said pointing at Tamaki still whimpering in the corner. However when he seemed to hear Haruhi say he was a teacher, he seemed to recover and stood up.
"I'm your teacher, Haruhi?" he asked.
"Teacher, chairman, club advisor, whatever you wish to be called sir," Haruhi said.
"Really? I'm all those things?" Tamaki asked, a little intrigued.
"Is this some big cos play with your club or something? A sort of cross over betweeb your host club and the hostess club?" Haruhi asked Hikaru and Kaoru.
"Uh," Hikaru and Kaoru sputtered.
"It might be hard to explain, Haruhi," Hikaru finally answered.
"Maybe you should tell us what you last remember before arriving here, Haruhi," Kyoya suggested.
"Oh, sure, Mr. Otori. Hikaru and I had just gotten to school and had met up with Kaoru like we usually do. And instead of trying to see if we could come up with a prank to pull on Mr. Suoh like we usually do, we instead we're going to see you Mr. Otori to give you this weird scepter. We found it in our attic and wanted to see if you could figure out what it was and what the symbols mean. I had gone and tossed the scepter up in the air to see if I could catch it, but instead it hit me on the head. Next thing I know, I'm here, I guess. I didn't think it knocked me out that hard or for that long."
"I see," Kyoya said as he started to write this down. "What else from your own memories can you tell us? Your family? Your relationship with Kaoru?"
"I must have been hit hard if you're making me recall all that," Haruhi said with a shrug. "Well my mother is Yuzuha Hitachiin, the famous fashion designer and my father is Ryoji Hitachiin, with the stage name Ranka, the famous model. He even models women's clothes for some of mom's shows. And Hikaru and I are twins. We met Kaoru our last year of middle school since he had just started attending Ouran academy our school. He's considered "new money" since his father's software company, Fujioka Flare, had a big boom in success. Hikaru and I took an instant liking to him since he shared our passion for pranks, practical jokes and just having fun. And we've been practically inseparable since then. Even to the point that...,"
Haruhi had to stop herself in mid-sentence as she looked at Hikaru and Kaoru a little embarrassed.
"To the point of what Haruhi?" Kyoya proded, "please do not withhold information from your teachers especially when they're trying to help you."
"Well okay," Haruhi reluctantly agreed, "Hikaru and I, we uh, we've kind of been competing over Kaoru. We've both sort of developed feelings for him. We've tried to pass it off as a joke. However, it's becoming a little more serious to the point I can't help but feel we're actually pushing Kaoru away. It's been a little hard lately."
Hikaru cast a glance at his brother who was looking bewildered by all the news.
"I see," Kyoya said, "and what of Kaoru's personal life can you tells us?"
"I don't know if I should be the one to do that," Haruhi said.
"It's okay, Haruhi, you can share," Kaoru insisted. He was a little curious as to what his life was like in this world, especially if he wasn't Hikaru's brother.
"Well, he, you, Kaoru, is the only child of a recently successful software developer who's company is now one of the biggest in the world. His father, Hayato Fujioka, spent nearly all of Kaoru's life working on his designs and program to make it big, Especially after his mother died when he was young," Haruhi said. She looked at Kaoru apologetic.
'Wait my mother's dead in her world?!' Kaoru thought. That part disturbed him a little.
"Interesting," Kyoya said as he wrote it down, "And what was the name of Kaoru's mother?"
"Why don't you just ask Kaoru?" Haruhi asked a little snide.
"Because I asked you, you seem to be one with a head trauma, so I'd like to hear it from you," Kyoya said sternly.
"Yes, Mr. Otori," Haruhi said reluctantly, "her name was Kotoko Fujioka. She died when Kaoru was young. She was a lawyer."
"So Haruhi's mom is your mom in another world?" Hikaru whispered to Kaoru.
"And she's still dead. Poor woman can't seem to catch a break," Kaoru whispered back.
"Yeah, and it's still weird, Mom with Ranak and he's my father? And dad with Haruhi's mom? How does that work?" Hikaru whispered.
"And we're not brothers?" Kaoru said. He knew it was important that he and Hikaru maybe try and get more independent from each other. But the idea that Hikaru wasn't his brother at all, actually frightened him. He actually reached over and took Hikaru's hand. Hikaru squeezed it in support.
Haruhi meanwhile was starting to look slightly annoyed.
"Okay, seriously, what is going on? This has got to be some sort of big elaborate joke! I thought it was our turn to pull one on Hikaru!"
"Turn?" Hikaru and Kaoru said.
"Yeah, we just did Kaoru, so now it's his and mine turn to pull one on Hikaru," Haruhi explained. She put her hands on her hips mad.
"Well we couldn't help if we had a good one to pull on you," Hikaru said.
"Some good one, I still know it's you Hikaru," Haruhi bragged, "I'd know my own brother blindfolded."
She turned to look at her other friends. "I do got to admit, whoever you hired to play the teachers as kids are doing a good job."
She walked over to Hunny and knelt in front of him. "where'd you get the kid version of Mr. Haninozuka? The elementary school? They pay you in candy kid?"
"Kid?" Hunny said.
"Oh right, you're a teenager like the rest of us," Haruhi said winking at him. She turned and smirked back at Hikaru and Kaoru.
"Alright guys, jokes over," she said, "one of us should get this kid home. And the rest of you can go home too. But seriously good job in your looks. You really do look like the teachers as teenagers. I would find it real easily to believe you were teenager versions of them."
"Thank you, I suppose," Kyoya said.
"Especially you," Haruhi said walking over to Tamaki, "you even got Mr. Suoh's whining attitude down."
"Whining?" Tamaki said sad.
"Whoa, talk about your dead on impression," Haruhi said as she examined him. "Who are you? And how did you get his hair color so accurate? Wig or dye job?"
She reached up and started pulling at Tamaki's hair.
"Owe! Owe! Haruhi! Stop that please!" Tamaki pleaded. As he did, he noticed a certain glint in her eye. One similar he'd often catch in Hikaru or Kaoru's when they were planning on doing something mean to him.
"Haruhi?" he said weakly.
"Oh no, my hand seems to be stuck in your hair!" Oh no it must have something to do with the chemicals you used to dye your hair to pretend to be Mr. Suoh," Haruhi said in a fake concerned tone. She continued to pull on Tamaki's hair as she spoke.
"She's pretending her hand's stuck so she can keep pull the boss's hair?" Hikaru whispered. That actually caused him and Kaoru to snicker.
"No, no, we can't laugh! This is a serious matter!" Kaoru tried to insist as he fought his laughing urges.
"Yeah, real serious," Hikaru said not trying too hard to stifle his laughing.
"Haruhi, your hand can't be stuck!" Tamaki insisted.
"What? Huh? Can't hear you," Haruhi said, "my hand's stuck remember? I think the only solution is to cut it off. Might give you a bald spot though."
"What?! No!" Tamaki shouted in fear. He tried to get away, but Haruhi kept a full grip on his hair.
This made Hikaru and Kaoru laugh even louder.
Kyoya sighed as he wrote down some more notes.
"Just what we need, a third devil among us," he said.
"Hikaru, I really don't think I need to see the nurse!" Haruhi tried to insist as Hikaru pulled in her hand towards the infirmary.
"Oh yes you do!" Hikaru insisted, "no sister of mine would have asked to re-do her assignment like that! Especially when the whole word-number thing was her idea to begin with!"
"It was?" Haruhi said in surprised.
Hikaru looked back at her worried.
"See? You do need to see the nurse!" he maintained.
"It might not hurt to see her," Kaoru agreed as he followed behind.
"Alright, if it'll make you guys feel better," Haruhi agreed reluctantly.
Soon they were at the nurse's door and walked in.
"Nurse Houshakuji? Nurse Houshakuji?" Hikaru called out.
"Houshakuji?" Haruhi said. "Wait, the nurse isn't..."
Suddenly the ground started to shake followed by an all too familiar laugh.
"Oh no!" Haruhi muttered
'If I didn't have a headache already, I will now,' she thought as Renge appeared on her lift in a rather suggestive looking nurse outfit.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't some of my usual victims," Renge said as she walked over, "What is it this time? Another fart infection? A sudden third nipple? Sore dicks?"
"Actually, this time it is a real problem," Hikaru said, "Haruhi hit her head and we're worried she got hurt."
"Oh really? That's a first," Renge said, "well take a seat Miss Hitachiin and we'll take a look. I better not find some weird twisted surprise while I'm looking though."
"Sure," Haruhi said as she took a seat and Renge started to examine her.
"I'm not seeing any kind of bruise or bump. What did she hit her head on?" Renge asked.
"A scepter we brought to have Mr. Otori examine for us," Hikaru explained.
"Haruhi tossed it in the air and it hit her head," Kaoru said.
"Hmm," Renge said as she pulled out a small flashlight. "Try following the light Miss Hitachiin."
Haruhi did as she was told.
"Any headaches or nausea feeling? Any blurry vision?" Renge continued to ask.
"No Ma'am," Haruhi said.
"She has been acting a little out of character though," Hikaru said. "not wanting to joke around and stuff."
"Hmm," Renge hummed in understanding, "well, at the very least there doesn't appear to be anything physically wrong. But if what you're saying is true about her behavior, I will grant you a pass to go home for the rest of the day Miss Hitachiin."
"Uh," Haruhi said looking at Hikaru and Kaoru for slight guidance.
Both also looked a little conflicted about what she should do too.
"I think I can manage to stay at school for the rest of the day," she finally said.
"Okay," Renge said, "but if you start to feel dizzy, hear a ringing in your ears or something along those lines, you come see me right away and we'll see about sending you home."
"Thank you Nurse Houshakuji," Haruhi said as she stood up.
"And you too better keep an eye on her too," Renge ordered Hikaru and Kaoru.
"Yes Nurse Houshakuji," Hikaru and Kaoru said.
"You sure you don't want to go home?" Hikaru asked as the trio left the nurse's office.
"No, I think I'll be okay," Haruhi said. She didn't really want to be alone in this world until she had a little more detail. All she knew so far was she was Hikaru's twin instead of Kaoru who's last name was Fujioka instead of hers. And apparently she and Hikaru were sort of fighting over him.
Plus here most of her friends were apparently grown up and members of the faculty here instead of their fellow classmates.
'I can only imagine what kind of teacher Senpai is," she thought.
As the three rounded a corner, they accidentally bumped into another adult.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry students,"
Haruhi looked up in shock.
"Miss Tonnerre?!" she said in surprised.
Eclair bent down to get a closer look at her.
"I heard you had a little accident Miss Hitachiin, are you feeling alright?" she asked.
"Uh yes, I'm fine," Haruhi sputtered.
"Think you will be able to attend club after school?" Eclair asked.
"I think so?" Haruhi said.
"Well alright, the activities can get boring sometimes without you," Eclair said as she moved aside for the group to walk past.
Haruhi looked back at Eclair who seemed to be reading notes before moving on.
"Oh, by the way Hitachiins, did your mother say anything about my gown being done?" She suddenly called back.
"Not yet, but Mom promises that it'll be one of her greatest accomplishments of all time," Hikaru called back.
"Excellent, I can't wait to see it when it's done," Eclair said with delight.
"Gown?" Haruhi whispered.
Hikaru looked at her concerned.
"Yes, Mom's working on Miss Tonnerre's wedding gown for her wedding to Mr. Suoh," he said slowly.
'Mr. Suoh? Tamaki's actually going to marry Miss Tonnerre in this world?" Haruhi thought.
"Oh right," she said back also slowly.
"Are you just messing with us now?" Hikaru asked.
"Yes and no," Haruhi said sporadically.
Hikaru gave her a half smile.
"Just don't over do it," he said, "I don't want to be worrying about you all day."
"Oh, sure," Haruhi said, by the time they came back to their clasroom.
There Tamaki was at the front of the class talking happily with some of the students among him.
He looked up as Haruhi, Hikaru and Kaoru all walked in.
"Haruhi!" he said in a panic as he dashed over to her. "I heard you were seriously hurt! Are you alright?! Are you going to be okay?! Do you need your favorite teacher to take you to the hospital?!"
"Are you sure that's proper student-teacher behavior?" Haruhi asked.
"Yeah, sounds more of a ploy to be alone with a vulnerable student," Hikaru said.
"How dare you accuse your teacher and chairmen of being a pervert!" Tamaki snapped.
"Hey you just admitted it," said Kaoru.
"Mr. Suoh's admitted to being a pervert!" Hikaru said out loud.
"No I did not! Stop that or it's detention for all of you!" Tamaki threatened.
"Now he's forcing to be silent with threats," Kaoru said loudly.
"Knock this off right now!" Tamaki ordered.
"Uh, Mr. Suoh, sir, shouldn't we be getting started on the lesson?" Haruhi asked as she noticed the clock.
"Started?" Tamaki said as he too looked towards the clock. "Oh! Right! Class in session! Everyone to your seats!"
All the students still standing hurried to their desks.
"So today, we are beginning our chapter on "The Prince and The Pauper" by Mark Twain," Tamaki said as he opened his own book. "Can anyone give me a simple summery of the story?"
Haruhi raised her hand. But quickly noticed all the other students including Kaoru and Hikaru were also rose.
"Well this is nice to see," said Tamaki, "clearly everyone has heard of this great piece of literature. So how about we go around the room and have everyone tell their own interpolation of the story. Ah, Mr Kuze, we'll start with you?"
'Wait, Takeshi Kuze?' Haruhi thought in shock as she looked towards the captain of the high school football club sitting in the front row.
'How is it so many of my other friends and familiar faces are adults, but Kuze-Senpai is the same age as me, and the twins? Even in our class? He's supposed to be a third year.'
She looked around at some of the other faces. She started to realize a few were regular students she knew from her real life. Most however she didn't seem to recognize.
I'm not sure I get how this world works exactly,' Haruhi decided.
"Mr. Hitachiin, how would you describe The Prince and Pauper?" Tamaki asked.
"Two look alikes switch places and the people around them don't know them as well as they think they do so they don't realize that they're different based on their personalities. They just always saw them for their looks," Hikaru answered.
"Hmm, interesting interpretation," Tamak said, "who's next?"
"I guess Hikaru's almost describing you huh?" Haruhi suddenly heard Kaoru whisper.
"Huh?" Haruhi said looking back at him.
"Well, just the whole, you acting different and all. It could be like that you switched places with someone else," Kaoru whispered with a wink.
Haruhi gave him a vague nod.
'If only he knew the truth,' she thought.
Then again, how hard would it be for him and Hikaru to understand? The other worlds versions of her different friends seemed to understand. Why shouldn't these ones? This world's Kyoya was analyzing the scepter from this world, so it might get out anyway.
"Think we can talk later in private?" she whispered back.
"Sure," Kaoru promised.
She glanced over at Hikaru who was staring at her and Kaoru intently.
'I hope he's not getting mad, or if he is, he doesn't overreach like my Hikaru does,' she thought.
"Miss Hitachiin, care to give us your interpretation?" Tamaki asked, "and please don't copy your brother's answer word per word for once?"
"Right," Haruhi said. She noticed Hikaru snickering and could hear the sound of Kaoru snickering behind her.
"Well, it's sort of a matter adaptation. Both Tom and Prince Edward have seen their world in a certain way. Then when they are show an opposite world, they have to adapt to what they see and how they react to such a new world. Especially since for all they know, this could be the world they'll have to permanently live in as the other."
Everyone in the class looked at her in shock over her answer.
"Well, That's very, thorough," Tamaki said, "very unique. And I especially like the fact that you didn't complete copy your brother in some way. Next?"
Haruhi looked towards Hikaru as Tamaki called on the next student.
He looked disappointed. She figured he was hoping she'd give a jokr answer or something.
'I wonder if the bond between me and Hikaru is as strong as the one he has with Kaoru as his twin?' Haruhi thought. If that was the case, she could certainly understand why Hikaru would be so upset by her acting out of character.
"Mr. Fujioka, your turn," Tamaki suddenly said, pointing to Kaoru.
"Okay, a cruel twist of fate makes it so two boys that look exactly alike are born on the opposite ends of the social spectrum and no one questions how or why that is. No wonders of somehow someway they might have been born twins and separated or something," Kaoru said.
"A bit of simple answer, but I'll accept it. Mostly because it didn't appear to be a joke of some kind," Tamaki allowed, "Next?"
"Yeah, what happened to your guys' sense of humor?" Hikaru whispered to them.
"I couldn't think of one on the fly without Haruhi giving me some inspiration," Kaoru whispered. He had a little smirk on his face as he spoke so Haruhi wasn't sure if he was telling the truth or joking.
Hikaru smirked at him, so at least he didn't seem to mind what Kaoru said.
Soon each student was done giving their interpretations of the story and Tamaki walked back to the front of the class.
"All of you gave fairly decent answers to the interpretation of such a grand and timeless story. I'm glad to know it hasn't gone past all of you. But that doesn't mean we won't be still reading it in class. And discussing the story in general."
That earned a few moans from class.
"Now now, it's all a part of learning," Tamaki insisted.
"What part?" Hikaru asked out loud.
"The part that let's you learn how to appreciate culture and expand your mind to other forms of creative thinking," Tamaki said.
"We do that on a regular basis already," Haruhi said. She was surprised to hear Hikaru say it at the same time. He also looked over at her in surprised. He seemed pleased to hear them talking at the same time.
'Why did I even say that?' Haruhi thought. 'And what's worse, I'm talking with Hikaru the same way he and Kaoru talk back in my world! Why?! How?! I, am I somehow adapting to this world subconsciously?!'
"Yes, yes, Mr. Hitachiin and Miss Hitachiin. I'm well aware of your "creative" thinking," Tamaki muttered, "let's see if we can read through the first chapter. Uh who would like to go first?"
Most of the girls' hands shot up. Before Tamaki could call on someone, the classroom door open.
"Pardon the intrusion," Kyoya said as he walked in, "but may I borrow the Hitachiin twins for a moment?"
"Oh brother," Tamaki said rubbing his face in frustration, and not sounding all that surprised. "Go ahead. You get your homework assignment from Kaoru later if need be."
"Come along students," Kyoya said motion them to come with him.
"I wonder what this is about," Hikaru whispered. "We didn't pull a prank on him this morning!"
"I don't know," Haruhi whispered back. She too was curious about what Kyoya needed them for, especially if it had anything to do with her being not quite the same Haruhi.
