Day 4: Tango Sighted
*SLASH*
Another one down, fifteen more to go.
*SLASLASLASH*
*STAB*
It had been hours since the flying imps were driven off, hours since their resources were all used up from the fighting. Before the monsters could reach the top, everyone created maze-like barriers using whatever rubble they could use. The spawn bucket became analogous to a unit dispenser. Few ranged weapons were left, and were entrusted in the hands who are skillful enough to wield them.
At least making every shot count.
When they got over the walls, they had an easier time butchering them. Killing them from corners they can't see, poisoning them, trapping them… yet they still kept coming. Everyone was careful now, more focused and less reckless, and only a few got 'killed'. But things were taking a turn, when they felt their weapons becoming dangerously brittle, and the anvils they scrounged up weren't any better. It wouldn't be any use though, since most of them were all out of experience points.
"We'll have to cook shit to earn back some experience." Zeron said, quickly crafting dozens of furnaces.
"Looks like we have to sit tight while we build up our death trap." Brick crossed his arms. "Is Deeptown secured tight?" the newly-built district wasn't a complicated network of tunnels, only a wide deep pit within the plateau. Some platforms were installed, but during the siege they were forced to be split up when the mountain wall collapsed. Separating the people below, one went upstairs to defend the upper city, the others went underground to dig a long tunnel where they could escape.
"Yeah, the hole's been plugged with obsidian." Locke answered
"When is Sock and his guys gonna arrive?"
They got over the radio (where is that blasted thing?!) that the lead companyman announced they'd be coming with reinforcements, four-thousand people in tow. Brick suddenly became aware of their position, for all their power, they were only small in number. Can he really infiltrate the society of the alliance? He also heard that he was coming as well. An uneasy feeling grew in his chest as he compared himself to him.
He was just a… guy, a practical loser really in the face of him, a seasoned veteran, a warrior who has killed thousands with his sword.
Though he had a new body and what he thought were the best toys he had ever wielded, was he really what he thought he was?
*SLASLASLASH*
*THUMP*
*BANG*
And look at them, can they really take on a mercenary company? The Black Dogs have thousands upon thousands of men within its ranks, with an influence that has been here for a long time. While they were a new kid on the bloc, their resources and arms were already critically depleted and going down fast, and a number of them fucking off to nowhere, having less people to work with.
"*sigh…*" Brick looked over the torn flag, still waving above the tower.
Could he really do it? Could all of them do it without descending into chaos?
Could their existence really prevent that fate from happening at all?
The Escape Tunnels, Lower Garan Badlands
"Roger, roger, this is Storyteller, where are you now Black Market? Over."
"This is Black Market, the guys say that they are just behind Ken Central and Red Pauldron, over." the radio responded.
"Awaiting command to assassinate his ass, and reinforce, Over."
"Bad news Black Market, I can't seem to pick up Verod's Transmission."
Albert listened closely, to the strange man with a top hat. There was almost nothing to do but hold a lantern while the Verodian miners in front dug. He looked back behind him, seeing the others and a dark tunnel behind them.
"Safe, he said." he scoffed.
The Camp, Near Verod
Sock was also having the same problem with the walkie-talkie, no one in the city was responding, thus they were completely in the dark. He thought of possibilities of why, either they lost theirs, sabotage, or are too busy fighting them. "Could be a combination of all of them." he thought. Either way, they would need to migrate somewhere else if the entire city was wiped out.
The radio in his inventory began to buzz, looking around his surroundings, he quickly went elsewhere and swiped it out.
"Yes?"
"Sir, incoming under you, the builders and refugees." the radio said.
"Roger, over and out." he closed the line.
Looks like some people were about to get some christmas presents soon. Oh! This also reminded him of something, to get the message across that they were coming.
The Spawn Bucket, Verod
"Jesus Christ, misplaced the fucking radio?" Brick pulled out his hair.
"Sadly." Chris shrugged pathetically.
"And we're all out of osmium." Zeron called out from somewhere, a chest dropping in front of his feet.
"Great, this, and the fucking alchemical chest is nowhere to be found, warehouse items burnt to a crisp, what next?"
*BOOM*
All of them turned their heads at the sound, it wasn't like the others, that can only mean.
"Sock?" he mouthed.
Grabbing out his wooden planks, the captain jumped and placed a block under his feet. He continued again and again.
"Be careful!"
"I know!"
Finally, he could see everything, some monsters were pointing at him from below, grabbing his binoculars, he zoomed in on anywhere where the explosion came from.
Then he found it, lights in the distance…
Zooming closer he saw-
"The cavalry's here!" he said excitedly. Grabbing his last firework, he set it off and watched as it arose into the sky.
The Camp, Near Verod
"Archers! Let loose!" from the estimate he got, there were over seventy-thousands of these monsters at least, that were besieging the city. Some of the horde's attention turned to them now, watching as some high elf women letting loose their magicka unto the enemy. Still, the resolve of the monstrous legion that was charging towards them didn't falter. Instead, it seems that it enraged them more, and were coming straight for them.
Sock saw the red glare above the city, signalling to him that they were still alive and kicking.
"Alright, boys! Let's make skewered meat out of these monsters." Vult's baritone voice sounded across the field, as tens of thousands of men prepared their formations. The guys who held the pointy bits managed out the front, while the rest of the mixed unit crowded behind them, with Vult leading upfront with his steed.
Claudia was also commandeering, "Archers, prepare your arrows and the knights with me!" She had the aura of a matriarch, firm and strong. "At your command my lady!" He thought he saw one of Vult's eye twitch a bit. He guessed he had to go as well.
"Builders! Get us some barricades and trenches will you? The rest of you fighters with me, we're gonna dig!" shovels, picks, and exes were handed out to the small team. Claudia looked concerned, "You only have a dozen men with you, do you know what you're doing?"
Vult also eyed him, interested in what he was going to say.
"Do not worry, we're engineers. We know what we're doing." it didn't dissuade her, but he then proceeded to dig a square hole, almost instantly. "Construction magic huh." Vult thought, his head filling with ideas, but he looked at the situation at hand. With a cocky smile, he swung his weapon, in a domineering fashion, riling the men up for blood to spill. "More glory for me." focusing his eyes on the incoming horde.
Deeptown, Verod
The orc smelled everywhere for the scent of female flesh, they knew it was somewhere, they knew that those tricky humans were hiding in places that they shouldn't. In their opinion, they should present themselves openly with lewd faces, begging them to be raped and devoured like the good sex-cattle-slaves that they were-
*BOOM*
…
…
"EAT LEAD MOTHERFUCKERS!"
*BRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTT*
*BABABABABABANG*
*PEWPEWPEWPEWPEW*
*BABANGBABANGBABANG*
The Spawn Bucket, Verod
"Shit! My sword's almost broken!" a fighter cursed his luck.
"They're breaking down the maze!" a panicking builder searching frantically for anything to use.
"We've got to hold on!" Brick crushed an imp with his minigun, no ammo for it left. He kicked two imps trying to get hold of a female fighter, while Chris threw blocks at a downed orc, stomping him when he got the chance and narrowly missing a second later when a club got close to his face.
"Stick together!"
"Bad idea they'll get us all in one hit! Spread out"
"They'll take us out one by one!"
Every second the monsters got closer and closer to the center, as more and more of their weapons broke, or became lost in the struggle. Their area of defence became smaller and smaller. The underground was filled with more monsters, and doing a nerd pole would be potentially fatal, even more, if gravity suddenly realized that it existed.
All they had now was time…
*BOOM*
And the timing was absolutely perfect.
"We crafted some ammo while in the city!" a familiar voice yelled. As a handful of figures emerged from the hole, all bloodstained.
"Sock! You son of a bitch, you came!" Brick said, also bloodstained and happy to see him, that big damned hero.
*BRRRRRZZZZTTTT*
*SLASLASLASH*
"Here's a gift from me to you!" Sock item-puked out a gross amount of minigun ammo towards Brick. Morale quickly improved when Brick did his famous assault, magnificently translated into real life as he gunned down orcs, goblins, and worse into swiss cheese, just like in the server. Guts and bones flew everywhere across the ruined streets, and it still kept on coming.
"YAAAAAAGHHH!" a fighter yelled his battlecry.
"Finally!" a builder said and turned towards them. "Fucking die you fucks!" and launched an impact grenade at the orcs, turning them into burnt stumps.
*BOOBOOBOOBOOM*
*BABABABABABANG*
*PEWPEWPEWPEWPEW*
Near The Lifting Towers, The Southern Walls
"AAAAAAA-!" a shrill scream cried out.
*SPLAT*
…and the Dawn Knight knew no more, as more of her friends dropped from the sky. The flyers had returned into the fray, for far less difficult prey. It was absolute discord under the walls, as ill-formed creatures battled with the armies into a messy moshpit of blood and cumstains.
Perhaps this was one of the many reasons how the Black Dogs in later times took the country almost too easily, as their veteran fighters were killed off. As evidenced by the 'knights' looking more older than the ones years later, who grew up to defend the fortress-cities in that other time.
Claudia Levantine gritted her teeth, as more and more of her comrades she once trained with were turned into a mess of bone of flesh, dropping from above like demented rains of mana. She turned her entire body sideward to kick the flyers that almost got her, and stabbed her sword through another forgetful beast. The elfin mages managed to heal some of the knights who dropped, getting them back in action and fighting again, the flyers decided to aim them too and were targeted and had a hard time aiming and defending themselves, knights closest to them made barriers of themselves, slicing any flyers who got to close.
Something knocked her sword out, and she quickly rolled to dodge as a minotaur swung his hammer. Quickly getting over to dying to a hair, she picked up a spare spear on the ground next to her, and slid under him, stabbing him in the gonads. Making her bloodied and wounded body, more bloody than ever.
"HYAA!" the army got taken by surprise, when the flyers appeared to harass them. Absolutely ruining their formation as they were forced to defend themselves. The charging legion came after, lead by the infamous Lorgak the One-Eyed. Vult was currently duelling him right now.
"DIE MAN-THING!" Lorgak roared.
"Try me you oversized cow!" he gritted his teeth as he parried the strike from the one-eyed bull. "I'm the mercenary king! Ain't a cattle herder!" he japed with a bloodied nose, and quickly stabbed him in the arm. The armoured minotaur roared in anguish, and swung his spiked bastard sword down, Vult sidestepped, chipping his red pauldron.
*BOOBOOBOOM*
What was that?
The Southern Walls, Verod
"FIRE!" Sock yelled.
*BOOM*
*BOOBOOM*
*BOOM*
After retaking the town square, they focused their efforts on one place, to reclaim the cannons. Some ammunition was left over and they began firing inside the town, driving away the monsters. Green smoke were locations marked with friendlies in the area, the town was slowly but surely being reclaimed again by the people.
"Guys! They need our help!" a girl builder, pointed towards below the walls. "Jesus fucking Christ…"
"Its a fucking bloodbath down there."
"Shit the birds are back!"
*PEWPEWPEWPEWPEW*
*BOOBOOBOOBOOBOOM*
"Keep 'em coming! The rest of ya gunless fucks reclaim the city!"
"Alright!"
"Let's go!"
*BABABABABANG*
*PEWPEWPEWPEWPEW*
Vult finally got his chance, grabbing his dagger to stab the beast in the sides of his neck. The monster gurgled and dropped dead into to ground. Vult smiled and stomped his foot to his head. "I fucking killed him! Lorgak is fucking dead." quickly chopped off his head to present it to all. It's tongue hanging out and dripping with blood.
*PEWPEWPEWPEW*
*BABABABABANG*
*BANG*
The other monsters, seeing their horde-leader gone, combined with the light show Verod was presenting them in their flanks, chaotically fled the scene. Running in between their tails. The men roared in excitement and victorious cheer, as Vult let out a hearty laugh, stained in blood and gore all the while.
The Lifting Towers, The Southern Walls
"So…, you're the infamous Vult." said Brick, crossing his bloodstained arms. Vult chuckled "Indeed I am my lord, pleasure to make yer' service." he bowed, theatrically.
What really ticked Brick off was just how he acted so… natural. He looked to see other people beside him. He recognized Hicks, the thieving bastard, and his weirdly placed muscles on him. He thought that his abs were placed too far apart, it kinda disturbed him how freaky that would-be rapist looked.
Kin looked like your average young medieval fantasy bookworm #2394. He was also a rapist, and it bothered him that he didn't feel bothered by him.
A welcoming face also stood out from the crowd though, Lady Claudia was there, though all bruised up, along with her knights. "Huh, maybe I was wrong." he thought.
"You… wanna come inside?"
"Of course! Invite the fucking bad guy to your house, what a great idea! Nothing will go wrong, I'm soo fucking sure of it!" Brick berated to himself harshly. Not quite knowing what to do, he looked at Sock, who was slamming his palm to his forehead. "Of course I forgot to tell him, stupid!" Sock was also disappointed in himself.
"Gladly!" his two would-be-rapists friends smiled with him, Claudia nodded, curious to know the man behind the mask. "If, you… would kindly… step in." Brick said haltingly, not quite believing that he was actually doing this.
A new thought overtook his head, one that was important that will shake the foundations of Serenus's History.
"How the fuck do I kill him?" he thought, noting how yet again that they were outnumbered and blind still.
Meanwhile…
The Queen of Garan did not quite believe him, but also did? She ordered him under lock and key, and kept under watchful eyes. From what he said was utter madness for her. A game? A reality not quite theirs that they live in? Perhaps another human trick, as the session was mostly trying to make sense of what he said.
For now though, the day had come to an end and it was time for her to slumber. Dressed in the finest silk, she wore a revealing dark nightgown, that was semi-transparent that left little to the imagination.
She looked down at the box in front of her. The human looked quite shocked when her spy revealed it to her, apparently it was an alchemical chest, that had the power to transform things into another if and only if it had equal value. He told them that it became outlawed and it explained his surprise that was present in his face.
She lifted it, looking at the intricate details.
"A powerful artifact." she thought. Wars would be waged for this, many would fall into its power and crumble into ruin and savagery if they traded their morals for power, and she closed her eyes.
"in spatio inter obumbratio" and the box was consumed by the shadows, never to be seen again.
He sat staring at the wall in his jail cell, two dark elves watching him like hawks. He sighed, and looked at them, still staring at him stone-faced. He looked down at their clothes, and turned back, quickly hiding his blush.
The last thing he wanted was to get beat up again, and dying.
…
But he had no choice did he?
With trepidation, the captive stabbed his hand with the knife, flashing red in verbatim. When the elves realized what was going on, they were too late when finally he felt the last of his hearts go out, waking up to find himself in the dark.
…
*sniff*
"Ugh, it stinks in here."
Alicia looked back at her city, and surged onward towards the east. A company of knights and levies following just behind her. She yawned, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"I wonder who these people are, that Lady Claudia spoke of." Alicia was left in her thoughts as they marched onward.
AN:
30/09/21: Here it is! The chapter you've been waiting for, as two different worlds are about to finally collide! Real question though, how do we kill this infamous villain protagonist? As the Black Fort betrayal and proclamation hasn't happened yet until a few years later, and as the chapter said, they are outnumbered and still lacking in information, worse case scenario would be that the entire world would be at war with them. But, enough with that tangent! Big thanks for reading up to this point and being interested enough to give a chance in reading this unconventional crossover! So, until then!
30/09/21: Fixed pragraph issue. Also debating to myself to whether I should accept the canon spelling of the continent into Serenus instead of Selenus (?). I like the latter due to personal preference, but also as acting as a symbol of a new identity and I've got some plans to explore Kaguya's and Luu-Luu's homelands. Let's be honest, kuroinu's worldbuilding is… yeah. So I'd like my own spin on it, if you guys don't mind. See ya!
30/09/21: I think my memory is going haywire of the Serenus and Selenus thing, when I saw the first chapter again, clearly saying Serenus instead of Selenus. I'm going to fix it first thing in the morning. Ughh… the mandela effect is screwing me over…
02/10/21: Renamed Chapter into Tango Sighted (formerly The Incoming Collision).
02/10/21: Made the elven mages into healers. Also expanded the meanwhile scene, with Olga getting hold of the alchemical chest.
