Hey! I'm back! Sorry that it took so long to update this. Anyway, Season 3 of Amphibia came out! Totally thought the robot was going to show up later in the season, so it was a surprise for me. Anyway, here we go!

Midoriya woke up with a start and sweat beading from his forehead, then looking around to see that he was in a basement. Why was he there again? Oh right. He was living with a frog family in another world. Speaking of the Planters, all three were there with him in the basement when he woke up. Sprig was looking at him with eagerness while the other two looked at him with suspicion and hesitation.

Sprig step forward to greet him only to be stopped by Hop Pop.

"Hold it Sprig! We don't know what his kind eats! He might eat you alive!"

"He tries anything, he will have to talk my little friend here.", Polly said as she narrowed her eyes at the quirkless teen while patting a wooden rolling pin.

"D-Don't worry, I don't really like the taste of frogs anyway.", Midoriya joked with a sheepish expression.

Sprig decided that that was a good time to join in the conversation, "See guys, told you that he was harmless."

"Hmm...For now. I'm still going to keep an eye on you.", Hop Pop then grabbed Polly as he headed back up the stairs, "Help yourself to anything in the kitchen if you need something to snack on."

Meanwhile, Polly was staring straight into Midoriya's eyes as she made the 'I'm watching you' gesture with her flipper before finally disappearing up the stairs.

"I think they like you.", Sprig said without an ounce of hesitation in his voice.

All while Midoriya looked at the doorway with a sweatdrop and an uneasy chuckle. Unsure how to take the mixed reactions of the other two family members. The two didn't seem to trust him when it came to potentially eating the family, yet they didn't make any move to harm him or kick him out. Hopefully, it will get better with some time.

"It must be so cool to be in another world!", Sprig exclaimed with an eager grin on his face as he hopped up and down in excitement, "What kind of things did you do for fun in your place?"

The teen flinched and awkwardly looked away from the frog in front of him to begin tracing the wall with his finger as he thought about his answer since he really didn't do much of anything now that he thought about it. All his time was spent looking up heroes and trying to ignore the hurtful names that everyone called him.

"Mostly study I guess.", he mumbled out, "And just stayed home with my mom..."

Sprig's big, eager smile slowly morphed into a frown, "Didn't you have any friends that you did stuff with?"

Midoriya had a sad look in his eyes, but didn't remove his gaze from the wall beside him. "People don't usually like to hang out with me."

Sprig was confused by the answer the green-haired boy provided since he didn't see any qualities that would make someone dislike him. The human might stutter like there was no tomorrow with nerves dialed up to an eleven, but he didn't see anything that may put others from reaching out to him. It might be too fast to make this offer for someone he met only after a day, but he knew he wouldn't regret it in the long run.

"Well, why don't you be friends with me?", Sprig said as he stuck his hand out to him regaining his big smile.

Midoriya was a bit startled after hearing the offer and stared at him with wide eyes, unable to believe that someone would want to hang out with him in the first place. "A-Are you sure? You just met me...", he asked with a bewildered expression.

"Positive."

Midoriya felt a small smile grow on his face as tears started to build from the corners of his eyes. Happy to know that at least one person. He quickly wiped them away and pulled himself up to stand.

"T-Thank you."

Sprig brightened up, happy to see that he was able to bring him out of his spell. He quickly hopped his ways onto the stairs with the green-haired boy following after him. The two made their way towards the kitchen for some breakfast before deciding what to do with the day ahead of them. After eating some leftover mushrooms from yesterday's gathering, the two made their way towards the front of the house. With Sprig leading Midoriya towards the door in hopes of exploring the town since he was new around here.

"There's so much to see around Wartwood! I can't wait to show you my favorite hangout spots!"

But before the duo could go any further, Hop Pop jumped in front of them blocking the door with a stern expression. "Absolutely not! The frogs in this town can become pretty paranoid when it comes to new things showing up in town.", he explained with narrowed eyes as he looked out the window before turning up back towards the two kids after locking the door with a key. "So until then, stay indoors and don't do anything dumb. I'll be in my study if you guys need me."

Sprig frowned at the decision made by Hop Pop, but ultimately knew there was no point in fighting it. So without hesitating, he called Midoriya's attention with an excited grin.

"I can think of a few things that we can do that will pass the time."

...

"I don't know about this...", Midoriya said uncertainly as he held up one of Hop Pop's so-called 'Pain Peppers'. Which according to Sprig, were so hot they'll make you wish you were dead.

"Come on, give it a try! I will even do it with you."

Shoving down his nerves, he gave the pepper the smallest lick he could manage and saw that Sprig had done the same. For an instant, everything was fine. Then it felt like his entire mouth was on fire, with the both of them screaming as they rushed to cool off their scathing tongues. If Midoriya wasn't quirkless, he would've thought he suddenly gained a fire-breathing quirk with the amount of heat emitting from his mouth.

Even after he drowned his mouth in water, he still felt the burning sensation on his tongue. He had to admit that the peppers lived up to their phrase.

"Man, how are so good at this!? You've won three times in a row!", Sprig stared at the board game the two were playing with awe. The two had been playing one of the Sprig's favorite board games for a while now. With Midoriya getting better with each passing game.

It has been a long while since Midoriya was able to have this kind of fun with anyone that wasn't his mom. He could only chuckle sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head, "I guess I just got lucky?"

Sprig started to set the game up again as he spoke up, "You know, for someone who came from another you didn't seem that freaked out about talking to us.", Sprig said with a tilted head as he moved a piece forward on the game board.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, everyone here thought you were some monster or mysterious creature that may harm us.", Sprig shrugged as he continued as he watched Midoriya move his own piece forward, "Yet, you didn't have any sort of shock about talking frogs."

"Where I'm from, there are lots of people who look drastically different from one another. So talking frogs weren't that weird of a concept to me I guess.", the green-haired teen said as he scratched his cheek.

Sprig's eyes lit up at the information, wanting to hear more about his world and the things that can be found. Yet, the two stopped as they heard their stomachs grumbling, not eating anything for a good while as they played their game.

Before Midoriya could apologize, Sprig stood up with a smile. "Well, that's a good stopping point for some food. Come on."

Midoriya got up and followed him towards the kitchen. He didn't get a real chance to look around the house due to the hectic day he had before, so he took the time to take in the homey atmosphere that he would be living in for a while. With wooden furniture and shelves littered throughout the house, mixed with numerous mushroom light fixtures that activated on touch.

He saw Sprig sorting through the cabinets scrouging for some food for the both of them. With the teen's stomach turning slightly nauseous at the thought of eating creepy crawlies as a snack. Sure, he may have tried that hot pepper with Sprig earlier, but that was more of a dare and not made for consumption by itself. Yet, he was already a stranger from another world crashing in their place, and it would seem ungrateful to be complaining about what was available to eat. So he decided to not say anything in the meantime.

By the time Sprig made got the ingredients out to make some cricket sandwiches, he noticed the uneasy look on the green-haired boy's face as he looked at each insect-themed ingredient plastered onto the table.

"Hey Izuku, are you ok?", Sprig asked with a raised eyebrow.

Meanwhile, Midoriya flinched at being caught red-handed by his new friend. He was hoping to hide his discomfort better.

Snapping out of his thoughts as he looked at the pink frog with a shaky smile, "Um, y-yes I'm ok. Everything here j-just looks so good!"

However, Sprig wasn't buying it. Despite Midoriya being taller than the walking frog, his shoulders were hunched over like he was trying to make himself smaller. After nearly spending the first half of the day with him, Sprig could tell the difference between his genuine smile and the one he was using right now. While the one he had while playing around bored games was full of life and carefree, this one was strained and forced.

"You know if you don't want to eat this stuff you can tell me, right?"

Midoriya just looked down on as he played with his fingers, unable to meet the other's gaze as he said in a small voice, "I don't want to be a bother to you."

Sprig just looked at him with a soft smile as he reassured him, "I don't mind telling me what you think. After all, we're friends now right?", ending his statement with a huge smile.

Midoriya could only sniffle as tears started to leak from the corners of his eyes. He wasn't used to having his voice heard from anyone really, besides his mother. So everything that he did with Sprig was a new experience for him.

"Thank you...", he said still in that small voice, though it was a bit shaky from the amount of emotion Midoriya displayed. Sprig didn't miss the small smile the boy had on his face. And had a crazy idea in mind to cheer him up.

"I know!", Sprig's surprise shout shocked Midoriya out of his state, "Why don't we go out and stuff your backpack to the brim with mushrooms! That way you have something to eat in the meantime!"

Sprig looked proud of his genius idea, while Midoriya looked a bit hesitant about the idea of breaking a rule. Especially since he was a guest in the household. "But what about Hop Pop? Wouldn't he get mad that we snuck out?"

"I'm sure he won't mind if it was for helping out a friend.", Sprig reassured him as they made their way towards Hop Pop's study.

As the duo started to enter the room, they heard the distinct sound of Hop Pop's snoring. Making his way even further into the room, Midoriya noticed the numerous books that lined up the shelves. Some looking like they were newly bought, while others were wearing down from age and overuse. He would definitely have to ask Hop Pop for some to read whenever he can. That is if he doesn't get kicked out with this stunt that they were about to pull.

He saw Sprig accidentally knock a vase over and quickly rushed forward to prevent it from breaking. Catching the vase just before it hit the ground, he sighed in relief while Sprig gave him a sheepish chuckle. Afterwards, they were able to move close to Hop Pop's desk without any more interruptions. Finding the old frog snoring with a book in his hands and his eyes wide open.

Midoriya waved his hand in front of Hop Pop a couple of times to test if he was really sleeping in his chair and found that he was unfazed. It was kind of unnerving if he had to be honest.

"Yeah, he does that sometimes. He makes an awesome scarecrow for our crops though."

He snorted at the idea of a tied-up Hop Pop on a post being used to ward off pests in the garden as Sprig slowly got a key out from the old frog's jacket pocket hanging on the chair. Keeping silent until they were able to step outside the house with a sigh of relief.

"Alright, ready to go Izuku?"

Meanwhile, Midoriya adjusted the backpack on his shoulder after emptying most of the contents inside his temporary bedroom to maximize the number of mushrooms he can carry. He still felt uneasy about disobeying Hop Pop's rule of leaving the house, but he really didn't want to eat bugs if he could avoid it.

"Y-Yup!", he said with a nervous smile as the two started to head into the forest.

The two made their way through the thick foliage, stuffing the backpack with mushrooms as they continued their way forward. Sometimes finding them high up on the trees where only Sprig can reach. After a while, Midoriya's backpack was stocked with enough mushrooms to last a week if he was able to pace himself.

The two decided to have a lunch break seeing as they haven't eaten in a while. With Midoriya eating the mushrooms that he was able to find and Sprig eating the cricket sandwiches he had packed with him. The two continued talking as they ate their lunch, making carefree jokes and conversation. Although Sprig did most of the talking.

Sprig noticed that about his new friend, how he was always hesitant to talk to him whenever a decision had been made. At first, the young frog didn't notice, but when he recalled the events of today it was much easier to see. The human always followed along with what he was doing, and rarely voiced his opinion unless he was asked. Even when he did, it was always said in a hesitant tone. He didn't know what made him so reluctant to converse with others, but he hoped that with time he would be able to come out of his shell. Maybe he could introduce him to Ivy Sundew, she was always good with dealing with this kind of stuff.

Suddenly their conversation came to a halt when they heard a low hissing sound coming from some bushes near them. They could see a creature with deep red reptilian eyes staring directly at them from the foliage and could tell that it was looking at them with hunger. They two slowly got up and started to back away, not taking their eyes off the creature's eyes. Midoriya had to leave behind his backpack on the ground, but they could always get it back later.

Sprig was able to take a glance at his friend and noticed that he was sweating bullets and slightly shaking as he backed up. Not that Sprig was doing any better than him. Then when he turned back to the creature, he now saw it rising above the bush revealing its face. With dark teal scales covering all over its head and snout, looking at them as it slowly got into running start.

"T-That's a frilled lizard. I saw one in a zoo once. They are looking for fast movement as prey.", the teen was able to whisper out to Sprig as they continued to back up.

Sprig had no idea what a zoo was, but decided to ask about it later, "What does it eat?", Sprig whispered back.

"In my world, ants and s-small bugs."

"That doesn't sound too bad."

"B-But where I'm from, they are only about the size of my arm!", he whisper-yelled in a panic.

Unfortunately for them, one of them managed to step on a branch. Making the predator's red eyes dilate at the two, a tell-tale sign that he was about to attack. With only one option left, the two friends looked at each other and said one thing.

"Run."

The two turned and booked it away from the beast, who now leaped out of the bushes and started to chase the two on its hind legs. Hissing as it charged through the underbrush and opening its massive frill on its head. The frill's edge was a dark yellow that highlighted the razor-sharp teeth in its mouth. The duo ducked and weaved over logs and stumps as they ran, but the creature was always not too long behind them.

Eventually, the two were backed up into a corner, with the lizard not sounding too far off. Midoriya felt that it was his fault that they were in this mess to begin with. If he had sucked it up and just ate the food they had in the house, they wouldn't be in danger in the first place. He should just let Sprig escape while he dealt with the monster.

"Friend punch!", the frog punched the teen in the shoulder bringing him out of his thoughts, "I'm not about to get my friend eaten! Not when I have so much stuff to show you here in Amphibia! We are in this together!"

Midoriya was slightly embarrassed that he was still voicing his thoughts out loud, but he was more touched by the commitment that Sprig was showing for him. He quickly wiped the tears that were forming from the corners of his eyes and looked at him with determination.

"Alright, how are we going to get out of here?"

Sprig was a bit taken back by the change in attitude but quickly went to describe his plan as he heard the footsteps of the lizard get near. "Alright, I got something that will drive it away, but I need a clear shot of its mouth to throw it in."

"How do I help?"

Sprig got out his slingshot and started to test it as he continued to talk to the green-haired teen, "I need you to distract it while I shoot this into his mouth.", the frog said as he held up one of Hop Pop's peppers, with Midoriya's eyes widening in realization.

It could work. Their timing would have to be perfect, but it seemed very doable. After all, the two were able to bring down a giant praying mantis just the day before. Midoriya couldn't let his new friend down, not when he was counting on him to succeed. Besides, getting unwanted attention was kind of Midoriya's specialty anyways. His eyes were a bit shaky and he had a nervous smile on his face, but he was no doubt determined in his body posture as he said to Sprig, "You can count on me Sprig!"

The two then separated from each other, with Sprig hopping between the tress and Midoriya getting a thick branch as a weapon. Sweat was building on his hands as he heard the giant lizard get closer, but he didn't back down. Soon the beast tore through the last of the foliage and hissed at Midoriya with its gaping mouth. The teen quickly smacked the lizard across the snout as hard as he could. Making the lizard turn his head in pain before it screeched at him in anger.

Midoriya didn't waste any time in running away from the lizard, running while keeping a lookout for Sprig anywhere he could. He dodged an attack from the beast with a yelp as it tried to snap at him from above, still running at him on its hind legs. Sprig was on a tree hanging on its side as he waved at Midoriya, calling to him to stand right under him. The teen rushing to the spot before leaning against the tree, panting to regain his breath as he clutched his makeshift weapon in his hands.

The lizard loomed right over him as it snarled, unpleased with the chase and the attack on its snout as it hissed while opening its wide yellow frill once more. Its mouth opening once showing the sharp teeth used for eating and tearing prey. Sprig grinned at the chance and released the slingshot to fire the pepper directly into its mouth all while shouting, "Bombs away!"

The pepper entered the beast's mouth without any problems. Swallowing the entire thing in a single gulp as it blinked in confusion for a second. It turned its head towards the two in question before it started coughing and gagging. Midoriya also could've sworn that he saw steam coming from its mouth as it continued, but it may have just been his imagination. The lizard turned and started to run away on all fours, whimpering as it fled from the two it foolishly tried to eat.

Midoriya heard Sprig laughing as he slid down the tree until he stood next to him snickering at the cowardly behavior of the predator. Midoriya wasted no time in getting into his face, shouting praises at the shot he made. While Sprig was equally amazed at the performance made by Midoriya, seeing him smack the lizard and dodge its attack while he was getting into position."

"That was so cool! I can't believe you made the shot from there!"

"Me? What about you?! I can't believe that you smacked it with a stick!", Sprig said while laughing.

Midoriya blushed at the praise, unused to receiving it from others as he shyly looked down at the ground. "I didn't do that much." He mumbled as he continued looking at the ground.

"Are you kidding!? You were like a warrior!", Sprig picked up a stick and started to swing it like a sword, "You were like, Bam! WaPow!" Sprig continued to imitate the teen's action while Midoriya continued to stammer and blush like no tomorrow. Eventually, Sprig noticed how low the sun was beginning to be and shook Midoriya out of his phase to start heading back to retrieve his backpack full of goods.

"Not bad for your first day out on Amphibia huh Izuku?", Sprig said with a huge grin on his face before getting an idea, "Hey, we are like a team! Izuku and Sprig, taking on the world! Though we might have to come up with a name...", he pondered with a finger on his chin, "Spruku? Izig? Come on Izuku, I can do this alone!"

Meanwhile, Midoriya just laughed all along the way at his friend's insistence. Despite it being such a hazardous day and worrying about how he should act, he managed to have fun with his new froggy friend. Maybe living here won't be so bad after all.

(Later that night in Toad Tower)

There was a rainstorm going on outside, but a toad in armor with a large scar over his eye walked up to a cell needing answers.

"Take a look at this Katsuki," the toad held up a dirty red shoe for the prisoner to see, "We found this in the south forest, so now that we know that you've been lying to us...", the lips for the toad forming a sharp frown. "Now we know that there are more of you."

Thunder struck somewhere in the forest, lighting up the cell room to reveal a snarling Bakugo chained to the walls with cuffs covering his hands.

The biggest problem I will probably have while making this story is thinking about how Midoriya will interact with the frogs. Since he is a very different person than Anne. To me, Midoriya is much more hesitant to tell others what he is thinking of since he was used to nobody listening to him to begin with. Let me know what you guys think about it and until next time!
