After the adventures of helping a past Pokémon Trainer and Celebi, the gang had continued on the road once again and they have made it to Olivine City.
"Finally we're here," Ember said, "Now I can earn my sixth gym badge."
"Rai." Tesla agreed.
"So, what type does Olivine Gym Leader specialize in, Ember?" Misty asked.
"Steel-types. So I'll use Pele and Lucifer, because fire beats steel type," Ember replied, "But I heard that the Gym Leader has developed a unique way to defend against Fire-type."
"Really? That's something." Brock said, amazed.
"But I'm sure that you'll figure something out Ember." Misty smiled.
The gang continued on their way to the Olivine City Gym.
The gang decided to stop at the Pokémon Center for some food and rest. Ember decided to send some of her Pokémon back to the coral; Levy, Chomper, Nessy, and Nariko. She brought Lucifer, Mystique, Ringo, and Tsareena onto her team. She decided that they would train for the next two days. Then Mystique evolved into Inteleon and Ringo evolved into Rillaboom the next day after training. The gang was quite interested in their evolved forms.
Two Days Later
The gang arrived at the Olivine Gym. It was designed of a big steeled roof. Ember walked towards the door and knocked on it twice, but nothing and she tried again...
...
...
...
But still no one answered the door.
"Does that mean the Gym Leader isn't here?" Misty asked.
"Don't know. Could be." Brock answered.
Before anyone else could say anything, the door to the gym opened and a little girl with green hair came out and saw the gang at the door.
"Hi there, my name is Janina Konatsu and I'm Jasmine's apprentice." The little girl introduced.
"Jasmine? Is she the Gym Leader?" Ember questioned.
"Yes."
"Is she here? I would like to challenge her to a gym battle for a badge." Ember explained.
Janina shook her head, "Jasmine isn't here at the moment, she's at the Shining Lighthouse on the wharf." She told them, "She has been going there a lot lately."
"Why?"
"You have to see for yourself."
Ember nodded, "Sure."
The gang followed Janina, who led them to the location of the Shining Lighthouse.
"Hey Janina, I take it that you wish to take over the leadership of Olivine Gym for Jasmine when your older?" Brock asked.
Janina smiled, "Yes, I do but I don't think that I'm cut out for it..." She replied, sadly.
Misty blinked, "Uh, why do you think that?" She asked.
"Well, Jasmine says that I don't fully understand my Onix. There are so many things about being a trainer and gym leader that I don't understand and I don't think that I'm strong enough... Because my Onix always get beaten by a Water-type Pokémon." Janina explained, "Not to mention that she caught me cheating the other week."
"How did you cheat exactly?" Ember asked.
"I coated my Onix in waterproof wax." Janina replied.
"Oh, I see." Ember understood.
"I just wanted my Onix to win against Water-type Pokémon. But I guess I'll always be beaten by them." Janina stated.
Brock frowned, "That doesn't matter though. Rock Pokémon grow stronger each time, even if they get beaten by Water-type Pokémon." He responded, "I'm from the Petwer Gym, the Rock-type Gym and losing actually helps Pokémon get stronger. I had my Onix, who's now a Steelix, even if he doesn't like water, we still battle against lots of Water-type Pokémon in the past. But we didn't give up and neither should you and your Onix."
"He's right. It doesn't matter if you keep losing a match, you just have keep trying till you win it. Then you'll understand all the hard work you and your Onix have accomplished." Ember added.
"I see..." Janina murmured as thought about what Brock and Ember said.
Janina and the gang soon reached the wharf. There were two lighthouses; one was the old brick built lighthouse, and the other was the modern stone built lighthouse.
"So why are there two lighthouses?" Misty asked.
"The old brick lighthouse is the Shining Lighthouse and it has been around for a very, very long time and it has quite a history." Janina explained. "The stone brick lighthouse is a new one that been built recently."
"Let's check it out then." Ember said.
So they all went inside the Shining Lighthouse.
"Hello, is anyone one here?" Misty called out.
No one replied.
"Jasmine must be at the very top of the lighthouse, the main light source." Janina told them.
And so the gang and Janina began to walk up the stairs to the very top.
When the gang and Janina reached the top of the Shining Lighthouse, they saw an Ampharos and it was lying in front of the lighthouse light source.
"That Ampharos belongs to Jasmine and her name is Sparkle, she's the one who makes the light shine from the Shining Lighthouse." Janina explained.
"She doesn't look well." Brock commented.
"No, she doesn't." Ember agreed.
Then one of Ember's Pokéball shook and out came her Ampharos, Aries.
"Ampp~" Aries happily appeared.
"Aries?" Ember blinked.
Aries went over to Sparkle and nuzzle her, gently, hoping to make her feel better.
"Why hello there youngsters." An old man voice greeted them.
The gang turned to the side and saw an old man and a young woman with long light brown hair and eyes, wearing a white dress, with a Magnemite on her right shoulder. Ember instantly knew that the young woman was Jasmine the Olivine Gym Leader. Brock immediately blushed and stood up straight when he saw her.
"Hello." Ember greeted.
"Jasmine." Janina greeted her teacher.
"Janina?" Jasmine looked at her apprentice in question, "What are you doing here?"
"She's here because of us, well mostly me." Ember answered.
Jasmine looked at the gang.
"I'm Ember and I was hoping to challenge you for a gym badge today." Ember said, "But I can tell by your expression that you're not in the mood huh."
Jasmine gave an apologetic smile, "Yes, you're right. I'm worried about my Sparkle here, she's sick and I can't even think about gym battle at the moment." She explained.
Suddenly Brock was right in front of her and held both of her hands, "I can help you take your mind off from all of your troubles...with a romantic dinner." Brock gushed.
Jasmine blinked in confusion, slightly creeped out.
Then Misty grabbed Brock's ear and started dragging him away, "That's something she doesn't want to think about."
"My name is Myron Hassaku, Jasmine's Grandfather." The old man introduced himself to the gang, "And let me see if I can explain to you. Long, long ago before there was electricity, we use the light in the end of the Ampharos's tail to light up this lighthouse. Even though a new electric powered lighthouse was finally built next to this one. The Shining Lighthouse is still an important part of our local tradition, loved by all the people here." He said, "However recently, Ampharos isn't feeling well and the light on its tail has gotten much weaker." Myron explained the problem, looking at Sparkle and Jasmine, "Jasmine and I have done all we can but it doesn't seem to help. People in town are quite worried."
"No wonder you don't want to battle Jasmine," Ember walked over to Sparkle and petting its head, "I myself never think of doing anything while any of my Pokémon were sick."
"Amph..." Aries nuzzled Sparkle again.
"Ampharos..." Sparkle smiled at her.
Jasmine noticed a yellow scarf with a Mega Stone attached to it around Aries's neck, "That's a Mega Stone." She said.
"Oh." Myron said, surprised.
Ember blinked, "Huh? Yeah, Aries and I achieved Mega Evolution." She said.
"Ampharos." Aries smiled, happily.
Jasmine petted her Sparkle's head, "I wish that someday Sparkle and I will be able to achieve it." She said, looking at her Pokémon, worriedly, "But Mega Stones are hard to come by especially in other regions except Kalos."
Sparkle looked up weakly.
"That's true." Ember agreed.
"Is there anything that we can do to help Sparkle?" Misty asked.
Myron nodded, "Yes there is actually. I ordered a very rare and powerful medicine from the Pharmacy in Cianwood City. I just got a call that it's ready and can be picked up anytime." He answered.
"I would like to go there myself but I can't leave Sparkle." Jasmine looked at her apprentice, "Janina, I would like you to go Cianwood City Pharmacy and pick up the medicine for me." She said.
Janina nodded, "You can count on me Jasmine." She said.
"Myron, does Cianwood City have a gym?" Ember asked.
Myron nodded, "Yes it does. Cianwood Gym is home to the Storm Badge." He told them.
"We'll go there then." Misty said.
"Yeah and thanks." Ember smiled.
"Ohohoho, You're welcome." Myron said.
"Magnemite." Jasmine's Magnemite said, looking past Jasmine.
Jasmine turned to see what her Magnemite was looking at and everyone else followed as well. There they saw Team Rocket on the other side of the glass, grinning evilly.
"Team Rocket!" The gang gasped.
Ember tuned out Team Rocket's motto as she tried to think of a plan. As much as she wanted to attack them, she didn't want to damage the Lighthouse. If only she could teleport everyone out of the lighthouse and then they could battle all out. Suddenly, everyone was teleported outside of the lighthouse.
Everyone blinked in confusion at this.
"How did-" Misty trailed off.
"Talk later. Aries, want to send them flying?" Ember turned to her Ampharos.
Aries nodded with determination and Ember returned the gesture. She placed two fingers on her Keystone necklace and light up along with Aries's Mega Stone.
"Key Stone, let our hearts become one! Go beyond evolution! Mega Evolve!" Ember called out.
Aries changed into her Mega Evolved form.
"Wow." Jasmine awed at Aries's Mega Evolved form.
"Amph..." Sparkle was also in awe.
"Aries use Thunder Shock!" Ember ordered.
Aries charged up all of her electricity and launched it towards Team Rocket who screeched out in pain and were sent up into their balloon which soon exploded and sent them further into the sky.
"So much for getting that Ampharos." Meowth complained.
"But you have to admit that the twerp's was impressive." James commented.
"That doesn't matter! We didn't get that Ampharos for the boss!" Jessie snapped.
"Wobba!" Wobbuffet saluted.
The trio sighed.
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" They screamed before they disappeared into the sky.
Everyone let out sighs of relief. Aries turned back to her original form. Then she walked over to her trainer.
Ember rubbed her head, "Good job, Aries."
Aries cooed at the compliment.
"Well that was interesting." Misty said.
Brock nodded, "Yeah."
Janina then remembered what she needed to do.
"Come on everybody we better hurry or we'll miss the boat." Janina ran towards the boat.
"Janina be careful!" Jasmine said.
"We better go as well." Brock said, as he followed Janina.
"Yeah!" Misty followed after Brock.
Ember returned Aries but not before Aries, giving a goodbye nuzzle to her fellow Ampharos, hoping to get well soon after the medicine.
Ember caught with the others.
The gang and Janina made to a ferry that is going to Cianwood City, they watched as the ferry leaves Olivine City.
Until Ampharos is better and Ember can return to face Jasmine for Gym Badge. So the gang leave Olivine City behind for their next adventure in Cianwood City.
