In the year 2138, Earth had been drained of its resources and left as a toxic husk of its former beauty. Very few animals and plants survived, and only because the uber rich had taken them in to show off their wealth. The air was no longer breathable, the water having to be boiled into steam multiple times and pumped with chemicals to even be drinkable. Despite how horrid the world had become, the mega corporations that caused it only continue to destroy it, and the unfortunate employees they basically own.

However there was a silver lining for all the abused workers, and the children who don't understand the horrors they'll soon have to face. Twelve years ago, when dive technology was first being sold to the general public, many companies started creating massive multiplayer role playing games, or DMMORPG for short. One of those games had blasted open the metaphorical doors, gaining it's rightful place as the best of it's generation. It boasted of its near limitless customization, featuring hundreds of races to choose from, thousands of job classes to learn and experiment with, and full reign on your own unique appearance.

Of course, one could only be talking about Yggdrasil.

It's nine worlds based on the world of Norse mythology, along with its numerous updates have been entertaining millions for years. Colossal bosses, custom gear, and even the ability to create NPCs to bolster your customized guild bases. Truly it seemed this game could last a lifetime.

"Well ain't this just a load of shit?" A slightly snarky voice asked.

Deep beneath the toxic swamps of Helheim, one of the nine worlds, resides a large room of marble. In the room is a huge round obsidian table with 41 chairs surrounding it, though currently only four are occupied.

Sitting in a slightly bigger chair than the rest is a skeleton shrouded in dark robes. They're more specifically an Overlord, the highest ranking necromantic undead. His bones are of pure white, with burning crimson irises floating around in his eye sockets. The robes scream magic caster, a pure black that sucks all light within, lined with purple and gold, spread apart at the chest to show his ribs and an ominous red orb within. His large shoulder pads fit surprisingly well, giving him a much more intimidating silhouette.

The skeleton turns it's head towards a birdman sitting in a chair to his left. "I won't say you're wrong about that Peroronchino, but it's nice that you guys were able to show up today." It spoke with a slightly worn out voice, as if tired from a long day of work.

The birdman simply moves his hands behind his head, showing that he's only wearing the basic underclothes all players have if not wearing anything. "True to that Momonga, I'm honestly surprised you kept this place so clean though. Get some more members to grind bosses for ya while chilling on your throne?" His eyebrows seemed to wiggle from his tone, but such actions were impossible. To allow for so much customization with player and NPC models, they couldn't add in facial expressions.

Momonga looked to the side a bit, feeling ashamed. "Actually, I've been doing it myself. I didn't want to let anyone else join without you guys, and since you all left…" he trailed off, Peroronchino sitting straighter as he heard their guildmate had pretty much been alone for over a year.

"Momonga… I understand, we had a lot going for us, but isolation like this isn't good for you. I'm your cubicle buddy, I know how shitty your job is." He gets up and walks over to Momonga, placing his hands on the skeletons shoulders. "I know we always voted on stuff, but we left while you stayed. This is your guild, your home."

The overlord nodded, looking to the side as a pink slime moved over to him as well. There was nothing special about it outside of its top heavy mass distribution, that and it's high pitched and cute voice. It got beside him and wrapped some slimy tendrils around him.

"I'm sorry, out of all of us I should've stayed. I had let the fight between me and my brother affect me too much, and in the end I hurt you." Her voice wasn't as high pitched as usual, those in the guild rarely got to hear BukubukuChagama's voice. Momonga had always found it beautiful.

He hugged her back as Peroronchino had moved to the other side of the table, where a black slime could be seen slumped against the chair.

"It's not your fault Buku, it's as Peros said, I just held onto the memories and couldn't look past them. Please don't blame yourself for my mistakes." The two held the hug for a bit longer before separating. They looked to where Peroronchino was and saw the slime gone.

"He fell asleep, so I woke him up and told him to log off. He wouldn't make it to midnight, I heard what his work was like." The birdman slumped a bit before returning to the group. "So we have a couple hours to kill, wanna check on the NPCs?

[Line Break]

They spent the next couple hours traveling through Nazarick and checking on the NPCs. Though the trio turned to a duo as BukubukuChagama decided she wanted to change her twins for 'the next life'. Peroronchino explained that she'd been talking with Tabula over the past couple years, and started believing his occult stuff. Despite the annoyance, it was clear he was happy she had a new purpose.

They went down to the treasury to change up Momonga's NPC, Pandora's Actor. He didn't do too much, mainly getting rid of the worst of the chuunibyou stuff, along with turning him into Pandora's Actress. Peroronchino gave him what could be assumed is a smirk, as the NPC's proportions were shifted to a small chest, and wide hips.

"So you've fallen to the darkside huh?" The smugness leaked out of his words as he walked around the NPC, using his tool to make their butt bigger as well. "Can't have one without the other."

"It's not like that, just figured going different from every other NPC would be nice." Momonga said, scratching the back of his head.

"Did you forget what BigChunBun did with his Homunculus maid?"

The overlord immediately remembered after the name was mentioned. All the maids were made similar to one another, but different enough to tell them apart. That particular guild member changed his completely. She was the tallest at 6'6", long black hair with crimson eyes, flat as a board, and carrying 75% of her bodyweight in her legs and rear.

"Right, Rebecca…" He trailed off, there was something else done to her. He never figured out what, but she always looked like she was pasted on top of the game world, never feeling like she belonged. He shivered "let's go, I think Buku is done, and I don't want to leave her alone in the throne room." The two left the treasury shortly after.

[Line Break]

The two appeared in the conference room, with thirty minutes left they didn't have much time to sit around. Momonga grabbed the staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, Peroronchino giving a thumbs up before they left the room. Finding themselves in a hallway with a group of maids and a butler.

"Yo it's the Pleiades, almost forgot about these guys. Weren't they meant to be the meat shields to buy time?" Peroronchino asked, pulling up their info to see their names and stats. "Jeez, we didn't give them a fair chance."

"Yeah, but their varied classes and skills make up for their lack of levels." Momonga stated, appreciating how varied each of them were, half of their classes he hadn't even heard of. "We should bring them with, I think it's 'follow'." The NPCs lined up behind him in response to the command, they all headed down the hall afterwards.

They all soon reach the doors to the throne room, one side depicting a beautiful goddess, while the other showed a vile devil. The doors opened automatically, allowing them to see the massive throne room, and the familiar pink slime near the throne.

They reach the throne of kings themselves, Momonga setting the NPCs following him to stand by before sitting upon the throne. BukubukuChagama is on his left, while Peroronchino is on his right.

"So she's your godfather huh?" BukubukuChagama asked with a giggle, Momonga looking embarrassed in response. Peroronchino checks Albedo's info and laughs as well.

He calms down before speaking. "Well it's not the worst thing, I remember what Tabula had there before, and at least you didn't make her fall in love with you." He notices Momonga looks even more ashamed, and laughs again.

"It only crossed my mind, I didn't feel it was right to force her to love me. I think her looking up to me as a father figure is better." The overlord gives a single nod. The three calmed down as they simply looked over everything in the room. An idea crosses Peroronchino's mind.

"This feels right," the birdman said simply. "The end comes for us all, and we stand here ready to fight it till our final breath."

"I don't think we'll be much help without our gear." The slime giggled a bit. "Though I suppose Momo wouldn't really need any help, our exalted guild leader is the master of death after all."

"Indeed, the Shitty-devs final attack, the beast known as Shutdown, stands no chance against me." Momonga boasted in a regal voice. "None can escape death, and no one knows the black abyss more than I."

The three are silent for a moment before laughing, their role playing bringing a smile to their faces. Momonga decides to check the clock.

11:57:34

He lets out a quiet sigh, the mood dropping a bit. "Less than four minutes remain, then our twelve years of work is gone."

Peroronchino pats the Overlord's shoulder. "Don't say it like that, once this all ends, it's just another chance at a new beginning."

"Yeah, you could create a new Ainz Ooal Gown, and we'll join you once more as allies." BukubukuChagama chimed in

11:59:45

"So sister," Peroronchino begins, his tone mischievous. "You gonna tell Momonga about the ring you made him?"

BukubukuChagama flinches, silent for a second before she goes to tell off her brother.

Everything had gone black, the servers finally shut down. Twelve long years as one of the greatest DMMORPGs, Yggdrasil had finally come to an end.

00:00:03

Though for one skeleton in particular, things are only just beginning.

/Author Notes/

I'm back, left the RWBY fandom probably for good, so if anyone wants to use that idea they can.

I'm just gonna give the warning here, characters are going to be somewhat OOC, with Ainz getting the worst of it. This is a more optimistic Ainz, one who's much more gung ho on making a new guild, and being transported to a new world isn't going to stop that. So yeah, if you want your evil baby killing Ainz, go find a better written story, cause he ain't here.

/New Notes/

Revised the hecc out of this thing, completely changed, and now leaving a mystery that won't be discussed for a long time. Anyway, peace out people.
