The gang had finally returned to Olivine City for Ember's sixth badge.
The gang were outside the Pokémon Centre and were about to head the the Gym.
"Good morning guys!" A familiar young girl's voice called out.
The gang looked to the source of the voice and saw Jasmine's apprentice, running towards them.
"Janina." Brock said.
"Heya Janina." Misty greeted.
"What's up?" Ember asked.
Janina smiled, "I came to pick you guys up." She replied.
"Oh, thank you." Ember said.
The gang and Janina all headed to the Gym.
When the gang and Janina arrived at the Gym and went inside, the Olivine Gym Leader was waiting inside for them.
"Welcome Ember." Jasmine greeted.
"Hello Jasmine." Ember greeted back.
Suddenly Brock was right in front of Jasmine and held both of her hands in his.
"Oh hello Jasmine. Its astonishing that you're able to bright up this lovely day with your lovely smile." His grin made his teeth twinkle for a second.
Then Misty grabbed his ear and started pulling him away, "I'm astonished that you haven't come up with a new routine."
"So are you ready for our Gym Battle?" Jasmine asked.
"You bet." Ember replied, smiled.
"Rairai!" Tesla exclaimed out.
Jasmine smiled, "Let's get started. Janina." She looked at her apprentice.
Janina nodded, she ran to the center of the field on the sideline, she takes out a green and red flag in her hands, "I'm ready!" She said.
Ember takes her place on the opposite side of the field with Misty, Brock and the Pokémon behind her.
"Each trainer will be allowed two Pokémon, understood?" Janina explained the Olivine Gym rule, "An official Gym match between the Olivine Gym Leader, Jasmine and the Challenger, Ember from Pallet Town for one Mineral Badge. Will now commence!" She raised both flags in the air.
Jasmine takes out a Pokéball, "Right. Magnemite!" She sent out the magnet Pokémon.
"Magn Magnemite!" It appeared, ready to battle.
"A Magnemite." Brock said. "Jasmine's first Pokémon."
"I choose you, Lucifer!" Ember sent out the dark Pokémon.
"Dooom!" Lucifer appeared, growling at the opponent Pokémon.
"Good choice. Lucifer is part Fire-Type, which is super effective against Steel-Type." Brock commented.
"Isn't Magnemite part Electric-Type as well?" Misty asked.
Brock nodded, "Yeah."
"Lucifer, Flamethrower." Ember started the match off.
"Rarrrr!" Lucifer fired a stream of flame from his mouth towards the magnet Pokémon.
"Magnemite, dodge!" Jasmine ordered.
"Magnemite!" The magnet Pokémon moves to the side to avoid the flames.
"Now Shockwave!" Jasmine commanded.
"Magnemite Magnemiteeee!" The magnet Pokémon fires blue electricity towards the dark Pokémon.
"Dooom!" Lucifer jumped to the side to dodge the Shockwave.
"Your Houndoom is fast Ember." Jasmine compliments.
"Thanks. Houndoom, Ember Attack." Ember said.
"Houndooo!" Lucifer opened his mouth and fires of bullet like flames towards the magnet Pokémon.
"Dodge them all Magnemite!" Magnemite used its speed to dodge each of the Ember attack.
Misty gawked, "Wow. That's fast." She commented.
"That one fast Magnemite." Brock added, impressed.
"Magnemite, Electroweb!" Jasmine ordered.
"Sunny Day and Fire Spin!" Ember countered.
The magnet Pokémon fires a electricity web towards the dark Pokémon, who fires a bright orb into the air and the field became bright. Before the Electroweb traps Lucifer, he spins uses Fire Spin around himself and the Fire Spin is stronger thanks to the Sunny Day.
The Electroweb was destroyed by the Fire Spin and the Fire Spin attack continues, hitting Magnemite.
"Magnemiteeeee!" The magnet Pokémon cries out in pain.
Jasmine was shocked, "Magnemite!"
"Quick Flamethrower, Lucifer!" Ember said.
The dark Pokémon fires a full blast of flames towards the falling magnet Pokémon, hitting it directly.
"Magnemiteeeee!" The magnet Pokémon was sent flying backward to its trainer side, crashing into the wall behind the Gym Leader.
The Olivine Gym Leader gasped, as her Pokémon was knocked out.
"This match is over." Janina announced, she raised the green flag, "Ember and Lucifer win!"
"Alright! Way to go, Lucifer!" Ember cheered.
"Houndoom!" Lucifer barked twice, happily.
"One down, one to go." Misty said.
"That badge is almost Ashlyn's." Brock added.
Misty nodded, "Yeah. I just hope that Ember will figure out a way to defeat Steelix."
Jasmine takes out the magnet Pokémon Pokéball, "Great work. You deserve a long rest." She returned back her Pokémon, "You're an impressive trainer Ember."
"Thank you." Ember lets out a small smile.
"But it's time to move on." Jasmine said with a serious expression, "Steelix, go!"
"Steel Steelix!" The iron snake Pokémon appeared.
"Lucifer, return!" Ember returned her dark/fire type Pokémon and let out her next Pokémon, "Go Pele!"
"Typhlosion!" Pele cried out.
"Of course. A Steelix." Brock said.
"You can do it Pele!" Misty shouted out, cheering.
"Rairai!" Tesla shouted.
"Let round two, begin!" Janina declared.
"Pele, Flamethrower." Ember started off, once again.
"Use Sandstorm Steelix!" Jasmine countered.
"Typhlooo!" The Volcano Pokémon fires a blast of flames towards Steelix.
"Steelixxx!" The iron snake Pokémon spun around and created a cyclone made out of sand.
The Flamethrower hits the cyclone sand but nothing happened, the cyclone sand protected Steelix.
"Steelix use Dig!" Jasmine commanded.
Steelix drove into the ground.
Pele growled, as he looks around the field.
"Stay calm Pele." Ember told her Volcano Pokémon.
"Steelixxx!" Steelix burst out of the ground and charges towards the volcano Pokémon.
"Pele, dodge with Double Team and cover the field!" Ember ordered.
"Typhlooo!" Pele used Double Team, avoiding the Tackle attack from Steelix and he opened his mouth, dark black smoke came from his mouth, covering the field.
Jasmine blinked, shocked.
"Fire Blast!" Ember shouted out.
"Sionnn!" The Volcano Pokémon fires a fire kanji-like symbol from his mouth towards the iron snake Pokémon.
"Steelixxxx!" The iron snake Pokémon roared out in pain as it the was hit by the Fire Blast.
"Don't let up! Fire Fang!" Pele charges towards the iron snake Pokémon was is trying to recover, with his fang, blazing in flame, it bit Steelix hard on its body.
"Steelixxxx!" The iron snake Pokémon roared out in pain, more.
"Steelix! Hang in there and use Sandstorm to get rid of this smoke!" Jasmine ordered.
"Steelix Steel!" Steelix shook its body and stood tall and spun around, creating a Sandstorm cyclone once again.
The Smokescreen started disappearing and the field was cleared off smoke.
"Typhlo!" Pele growled.
"Now Rock Throw!" Jasmine continues.
"Dodge them all." Pele countered.
Steelix summoned rocks around itself and threw them towards the Volcano Pokémon, who dodges them one by one.
"Rock Tomb Steelix!" Steelix roared out and slammed its tail, tombs of rocks erupted from the ground, surrounding the volcano Pokémon.
Ember's eyes narrowed, "Destroy them all with Swift!" She shouted out.
Pele summoned a bunch of stars and he fires them towards all the Rock Tomb, destroying them.
"Steelix use Bind!" Steelix charged towards the Volcano Pokémon, to wrap it.
"Substitute!" Before Steelix could trap Pele in its Bind attack, he replaces himself with a fake, which disappeared after being hit.
Both Steelix and Pele stared at each other, growling.
Jasmine and Ember also stayed focus on the battle.
"Okay, Pele lets go." Ember looked at her volcano Pokémon, they have worn out the iron snake Pokémon.
"Steelix get ready." Jasmine told her iron snake Pokémon.
"Steelix." Steelix nodded, as it was panting with exhaustion but still prepared to fight.
"Use Flamethrower Pele." Ember said.
"Steelix use Sandstorm!" Jasmine commanded.
The iron snake Pokémon spun once again, creating a sandstorm cyclone and its stopped the Flamethrower.
Pele continues to fire Flamethrower, even if the sandstorm cyclone was getting closer and closer.
"Now Pele, lets switch it. Overheat!" Ember shouted out.
Pele stops his Flamethrower attack and his body began to glow red, gathering power and he opened his mouth, releasing an Overheat attack at the sandstorm.
"I see." Brock said.
"See what? Why is Ember making Pele use Overheat?" Misty questioned.
"Just watch." Brock said.
The sandstorm cyclone began to glow red.
"Keep on Pele!" Ember shouted out. "Turn up the heat!"
"Typhloooooo!" Pele fires more power into the Overheat.
"Oh! It's heating up!" Brock snapped his fingers together.
"Huh?" Misty blinked, really lost now.
"By continuing to attack the Sandstorm with Overheat, Ashlyn heated up the Sandstorm really fast and it created a fire cyclone buts that's not all, Steelix is trapped within it." Brock explained.
"Oh! And Steelix is part Steel-type! Which is great!" Misty understood.
The Sandstorm cyclone became a fire cyclone.
"Steeellixxxx!" The iron snake roared out in pain, it was trapped and the fire cyclone hits it.
"No! Steelix!" Jasmine shouted out, worriedly.
As the fire cyclone died out, revealing Steelix, who was wiggling, with swirling eyed and it collapses onto the ground.
"Steelix is unable to continue the battle." Janina announces and she raised the green flag, towards Ember's side, "The victory goes to, Pele and Ember."
"Alright!" Ember hugged her volcano Pokémon.
"Typhlosion!" Pele smiled and nuzzled his trainer's cheek.
Ember laughs, "Ahaha! That tickles!" She said.
Jasmine sighs and take out a Pokéball, "Steelix, you've fought hard." She recalled back her unconscious iron snake Pokémon.
Misty andBrock all congratulated Ember and Pele.
"Way to you two. You were both great." Brock complimented.
"Thanks Brock." Ember smiled.
Jasmine and Janina both walked over to the gang.
"That was a great battle Ember. Turning that Sandstorm defense back on me into a whirlwind fire attack a brilliant idea."
"Thanks Jasmine." Ember said, as she rubbed Pele's head, "Even if were at a slight disadvantage, for a second we manage to pull through."
Pele closed his eyes, enjoying the rub.
"Here. Here is the Mineral Badge." Jasmine held out a steel color octagon shaped.
Ember smiled, she gave a bowed before taking the badge, "Alright, we got the Mineral Badge!" She said, happily.
"Rai Raichu! (Badge number 6!)" Tesla cheered.
"Typhlo!" Pele cheered.
After the Gym Battle, the gang, Jasmine and Janina were all standing outside the Gym.
"So were are guys headed to next?" Jasmine asked.
"Mahogany Town." Ember replied.
"Then I suggest cutting through Ecruteak City, then you'll save yourself a lot of time." Janina suggested.
"Really, thanks Janina." Ember smiled.
"Yeah." Misty said. "Thanks for the tip."
Brock looked at the sun and it was setting, "Well, we should get going." He told them.
"Take care." Jasmine told the gang.
The gang walked off, they waved back to the Gym Leader and her apprentice. "Goodbye!" They said.
Jasmine and Janina waved back, "See ya!"
"Rai Raaai!" Tesla shouted out.
Continuing working on entering the Johto League, Ember takes one step further by winning her sixth badge. Ember knew who her next opponent is. But how will Ember convince him to battle her? The journey continues.
