Today was the day for Ember to battle Pryce and earn her seventh gym badge. At the moment, Ember and the others were walking back to Mahogany Gym.

"You better watch out for Piloswine, Ember. I mean I know Pryce and Piloswine were separated for forty years, but Sheila told us that he and Piloswine were really tough opponents." Brock warned.

"I know Brock, but you don't need to worry, because I have the perfect Pokémon to fight Piloswine." Ember assured him.

"Oh." Brock replied.

He and Misty couldn't wait to see Ember's strategy.

Ember and the gang arrived at the gym. Pryce greeted the gang and led the gang to the battlefield, inside the gym. The battlefield was an ice rink, with a little pool, and lots of blocks of ice.

"Wow what a battlefield." Ember said in amazement.

"Since I own an Ice-Type gym, I like to make it icy." Pryce stated, "So are you ready for our gym battle?"

"Sure am." Ember replied.

Ember walked onto her side of the battlefield, while Pryce walked onto his side. Misty and Brock stood behind Ember and Sheila took her place as the referee at the side.

"This is an official Mahogany Town Gym Match, the Challenger is battling for a Glacier Badge." Sheila announced, "The Gym Leader and the Challenger will use two Pokémon each and the match ends when all two Pokémon of either opponents are unable to continue battling. The Challenger will attack first, the Challenger will be permitted to make substitutions during the match, the Gym Leader will not."

"Ready Ember?" Pryce asked.

"You bet." Ember smiled.

"Let the match begin!" Sheila declared.

"Dewgong!" Pryce sent out the Sea Lion Pokémon.

"Dew!" Dewgong appeared on the field.

"Mulan, let's go!" Ember sent out the Martial Arts Pokémon.

"Shao." Mulan appeared on the field.

{A/N: Yes, I named Mienshao 'Mulan'}

"Be careful on the battlefield, Mulan. The ice will be very slippery." Ember warned.

Mulan nodded, "Shao."

"Dewgong use Ice Beam!" Pryce ordered.

Dewgong fired a beam of ice towards Mulan.

"Mulan, Double Team!" Ember countered.

The Ice Beam missed Mienshao and hit one of the copies.

"Clever Ember, but it's not enough, use Blizzard Dewgong." Pryce commanded.

Dewgong fired a blizzard attack at the copies, and the copies vanished one by one.

"Quick jump into the water." Ember countered.

The real Mulan quickly jumped into the pool just in time to dodge the blizzard attack.

"Using the pool was a good idea to dodge the blizzard attacks." Brock commented.

"I'm glad that Mulan knows how to swim, even though she's not a water type." Misty added.

"Dewgong, go into the pool and use Headbutt!" Pryce commanded.

Dewgong dove into the pool and readied its horn to use Headbutt on Mulan.

"Now use Close Combat!" Ember ordered.

Mulan punched and kicked very quick and hard at Dewgong. Then Dewgong got punched out of the water.

"No Dewgong!" Pryce shouted.

"Drain Punch Combat and then finish it with Aura Sphere!" Ember called out.

Mulan's left paw glowed an orange color and she punched Dewgong with more kicks and punches. With her last punch to Dewgong's stomach, sending it across the floor. Then she formed an orb of blue energy between her paws and launched it towards Dewgong.

"Dewgong!" Dewgong cried out in pain when the Aura Sphere hit and got pushed back into a block of ice causing dust of ice to come off. When it cleared, it showed Dewgong with swirls in its eyes, which meant that it fainted.

"Dewgong is unable to battle. The victory goes to Mienshao." Sheila announced.

"Good job, Mulan." Ember complimented Mulan.

Mulan smiled, "Mienshao."

"That was a close one." Misty said, relieved.

"Ember made sure to use Drain Punch, Close Combat and Aura Sphere because they're all Fighting type moves which was why they had a great effect on Dewgong." Brock explained.

"Trust Ember to use the right Pokémon for the matches." Misty said in a teasing tone.

Pryce returned Dewgong. "You did well my friend." he said, "I can tell you Ember that you and your Pokémon have a lot of trust with each other. And that your bond is very strong."

Ember smiled, "I wasn't make it up when I told you about my Pokémon and I being best friends, Pryce."

Pryce smiled in agreement and then sent out his next Pokémon, "Go Piloswine!"

Piloswine grunted when he appeared on the field.

"I had a feeling that he would use Piloswine," Ember returned Mulan and let out her next Pokémon, "Scarlet, let's go!"

"Scizor!" Scarlet the Pincer Pokémon appeared on the field.

{A/N: I named Scizor 'Scarlet'}

"Be careful Scarlet, this Piloswine may be tough to beat." Ember warned.

Scarlet nodded as she got ready to fight, "Scizor."

"Is Piloswine the right one to use for this battle? I'm pretty sure that Piloswine is weak against water." Misty pondered, seeing the pool in the field.

"True. Piloswine is weak against water. But Pryce might have a plan to avoid that." Brock explained,

"Piloswine, use Blizzard!" Pryce ordered.

Piloswine summoned a blizzard attack which was thick and strong and it was hard to see what was going on.

"Now Piloswine use Take-Down." Piloswine charged at Scarlet.

"Dodge Scarlet and fly over the battlefield!" Ember called out.

Scizor jumped out of the way and flew up in the air where Piloswine couldn't get her.

"Hate to break it to you, Pryce, but I came prepare in case we deal with slippery ice fields." Ember stated.

"How was Piloswine able to do Take Down?" Misty asked.

"Look at the pool." Brock said.

Misty noticed that the pool was frozen in ice.

"That blizzard attack must have done that. Now Piloswine can move anywhere it wants to on the ice field." Brock explained.

"I see. Scizor's a good choice. Knowing that she's a steel type, Piloswine's ice moves won't do much damage to her because Steel-Type beats Ice-Types." Misty said.

Pryce smiled, "I'm impressed of you being prepared Ember, but Piloswine and I are not going to be thrown off by this. Piloswine use Blizzard!"

Piloswine fired a blizzard attack at Scarlet.

"Counter it with Flash Cannon!" Ember ordered.

Scarlet fired two white beams of energy from inside of her claws and broke the blizzard apart.

"Great job, Scarlet! Now use Steel Wing!" Scarlet flew towards Piloswine with her wings glowing white, and then she struck Piloswine with the steel wing attack.

Piloswine grunted in pain as it skidded across the field.

"Piloswine use Rest!" Piloswine went to sleep and began to heal itself.

"Quick Scarlet use Bullet Punch!" Scarlet quickly rushed over to Piloswine, with her pincers glowing white, and then she punched Piloswine hard.

"No Piloswine!" Pryce called out.

At that time Piloswine woke up.

"Quick use Fury Attack!" Piloswine hit Scarlet hard with its fury attack.

"Fight back with Iron head, Scarlet!" The top of Scarlet's head glowed white, and then head-butted Piloswine hard.

After a lot of attacks, Piloswine and Scarlet were still willing to fight.

"This is some battle. Both Piloswine and Scarlet still have the will to fight on." Brock commented.

"Yeah and Piloswine is putting up a real fight, even though it hasn't battled for forty years." Misty agreed.

"Piloswine, use Take-Down!" Pryce ordered.

"Scarlet, Bullet punch!" Ember countered.

After the tackling and punching, Ember was about to give Scarlet another command when...

"Stop! I forfeit!" Pryce interrupted and threw in the towel.

Everyone stopped and blinked in surprise at what Pryce had just said. But Sheila blinked back into focus.

"Pryce's Piloswine is eliminated from the match by a TKO! Scizor and Ember are the winners!" Sheila declared.

"But why?" Ember asked, blinked.

"Piloswine has had enough. I don't want Piloswine to be more hurt than he already is." Pryce knelt down beside Piloswine and placed his hand on his head, "You battle fiercely and bravely my old friend and I'm so very very proud of you."

Piloswine let out a happy grunt.

"I understand, Pryce." Ember said.

Pryce and Piloswine walked over to Ember, "Ember, in all my years as a trainer, I have never had a battle with a trainer like you," he said, "I found your strength as a Pokémon trainer really remarkable."

Ember smiled, "Thank you Pryce. Scarlet and I also had a great time battling your Piloswine."

Piloswine and Scarlet smiled at that.

Pryce took something out of his pocket. "Ember, because of your victory I present to you the Glacier Badge."

The Glacier badge was light blue and white, in the shape of a hexagon and with a snowflake design.

"Thank you, Pryce." Ember slightly bowed and accepted it.

"Alright! We got the Glacier Badge!" Ember posed with her Pokémon.

"Rai Raichu! (Badge Number 7!)" Tesla cheered.

"Scizor." Scarlet smiled.

After the gym battle was over, the gang got ready to leave Mahogany Town.

"I thank you again Ember for helping me find my long lost Piloswine and for helping me regain my belief in the friendship between Pokémon and humans." Pryce thanked her.

"Think nothing of it. I'm glad I was able to help." Ember said.

"I have no doubts that you'll make it to the Johto League, Ember." Pryce declared.

Ember smiled, "Thank you, Pryce."

"Well I wish you luck on the rest of the journey Ember." Pryce shook Ember's hand.

And so, after winning her seventh badge, the gang set a course to Blackthorn City. But they take much more than just Ember's seventh badge, they take warm memories, new friendships and hard earned wisdom.
