Author's Notes: So, here is the fic I mentioned that I wanted to write for the month of November. I wasn't originally planning on writing this, but this idea has been lingering in my mind and wouldn't leave ever since I finished "I Don't Want Your Love." So, I finally decided to write about it.
This story is not an episode of my series, but it is a part of the same timeline as my series and my three oneshots. It takes place in November 2021, a month before the events of episode 6 will take place.
Ophelia Van Ghoul is another OC of mine, and will be the last OC I create for my 13 Ghosts timeline. I named her after the song "Ophelia" by The Lumineers, and every chapter title for this story will be inspired by the lyrics from that song.
It was his first time ever in this dimension. Asamad had found himself flying above a snowy hill in the middle of a dark night. He looked upon a dark castle that stood on the very top of the hill.
His feet finally touched the ground as he noticed the castle looked almost exactly like Castle Van Ghoul, the place that he once owned himself. The place that Vincent Van Ghoul owns and lives in with the rest of the gang to this day.
And yet, something was off…
The castle looked to be almost completely shattered and damaged. Like it was almost dead now and it was just staying on top of that hill for who knows how long.
'Who has made this strange version of Castle Van Ghoul in The Dimension Of Lost Spirits?' he thought to himself.
He considered flying towards the castle and taking a look inside, yet, he decided it probably was better to let the others know about this first.
Asamad turned around to cross through the dark portal that he entered through before behind him, then he heard the sound of someone's loud cry come from the castle.
He immediately looked back at the castle, yet, he only saw that a single window was now shut.
"Someone else is in there, and they are in need of help!" he realized. "I shall bring the others here and we will find out what is going on."
He then turned back to the portal and flew into it, exiting the ghostly dimension.
Asamad now ended up back in front of the version of Castle Van Ghoul that he was staying in for the past nine months. He walked through the doors and headed his way through the corridor, where he found Vincent and the others.
Everybody turned around as he approached them.
"Oh hello," Vincent began. "I was wondering where you went."
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I just found out about this dimension called 'The Dimension Of Lost Spirits,' where some spirits who cannot pass over to the afterlife are lingering around," Asamad informed him.
"Did you find anything there?" Velma questioned.
"I found a castle that looks exactly like this one, except it's almost completely shattered."
Vincent stared at him in absolute confusion.
"What!? How is that possible?"
"I do not know," he admitted. "Even I was shocked."
"Are you sure that it looked like this castle?" Daphne asked.
"I am. I heard a loud cry coming from there as well, so there's definitely someone in there, and they need our help. I don't know why, but it sounded familiar to me."
Everyone else stared at him.
"A loud cry?" Cheryl repeated. "Well then, we have to go right now!"
"Agreed. But we should find the portal to the dimension first," Daphne pointed out.
"It's already outside the doors. I opened the portal there after I first heard about the dimension," Asamad told her.
"Okay, good. Come on gang! We have a spirit to save!" she exclaimed, running towards the doors.
Everyone else followed her, and within moments, the gang crossed through the portal, ending up on the snowy hill where the damaged castle stood.
Vincent was appalled by how it looked. He'd never seen the castle like this before. It was almost unbelievable for him.
There was absolute silence for a moment until he finally started to speak.
"I do wonder why this is here," he said.
"Me too. Maybe the spirit that cried is trapped here or it got hurt badly because of this place," Velma guessed.
"Well, there's only one way to find out," Flim Flam stated, walking towards the castle.
As he attempted to open the doors, they suddenly fell, breaking down into pieces, causing him and everyone else to jump back a few steps.
"Are you alright?" Daphne asked.
"I'm fine," he assured her. "I wasn't expecting that at all though."
Him and the rest of the gang now entered the castle, noticing that it looked terrible on the inside too. The walls were cracked, the floor looked like it was almost completely torn up, and there were barely any parts of the ceiling left.
As they walked through the corridor, everyone realized this wasn't even close to looking like the inside of the castle that they lived in.
Asamad paused for a moment, and looked all around him, wondering why he felt like he's been here before, but not the others.
"Wait a minute. This is the version of Castle Van Ghoul that I lived in back when I was a warlock," he announced, finally putting the pieces together. "Well, except that now it seems to be damaged. I never had it like that back then."
"Oh, so that's why everything seems different," Shaggy realized. "Still doesn't explain why it's here or who was that person that you heard crying earlier."
"I hope this is not where Asamad would've ended up if he didn't join us on our ghost hunting," Jayden quavered.
"No, it wouldn't have been," Vincent replied. "This place must be reserved for someone else, we just do not know who it is yet."
"Well, whoever it's reserved for, they can't stay here," Daphne commented. "Even for a spirit, that's not good."
Suddenly, they all heard someone scream, and everyone gasped, while Scooby immediately jumped into Shaggy's arms.
"Rikes!" he trembled.
"Like what was that?"
Then, they finally saw her. A glowing white ghost, with powerful magic in her hands and teary eyes floating towards them.
"Depart from this place at once!" she yelled.
"Yep, we're leaving!" Shaggy exclaimed. "Come on Scoob, let's go," he said, turning around towards the exit.
"Ri'm right behind rou," Scooby said, also turning around.
"Wait, please don't go!" the spirit called out, causing them to stop immediately. "I only meant for that red demon to leave," she clarified, pointing to Asamad as the magic in her hands disappeared. "The rest of you are welcome to stay."
"You only want Asamad to leave? Why is that?" Jayden wondered.
"Because I can tell that he's dangerous just by looking at him," she stated. "Oh my goodness.." she trailed off, just now realizing what name he said. "Did you just say 'Asamad?' As in 'Asamad Van Ghoul?'"
"Yes, I did."
The spirit stared at Asamad for a moment, and he stared back at her. He froze in his tracks as he figured out who she was.
"Ophelia? I almost can't believe it's really you. I knew that voice sounded familiar."
"You know who this is?" Flim Flam contemplated.
"Of course I know her, she's my wife," Asamad responded.
The others looked at each other, utterly surprised by this news.
"Wife?" they all repeated in unison.
"Huh, I forgot that you were married," Jayden admitted.
"So she must be the reason why this version of Castle Van Ghoul is here," Velma figured out.
"That still doesn't explain why she's here, or why she was screaming and crying though," Cheryl pointed out.
"They're right. Why is that? Did someone hurt you? Is someone keeping you trapped here? How long have you been here?" Asamad asked Ophelia.
Ophelia just gave him an icy stare.
"None of that is your business," she sneered. "I am not required to tell you anything since you clearly do not care about me anymore."
"Don't you dare take that attitude with me!" he shot back.
The others just watched all of this go down.
"This is not going to end well.." Daphne sighed.
"Yeah, it isn't looking too good between them," Shaggy agreed.
"You cannot tell me what to do. You have no power over me!" Ophelia continued. "Like I said before, you need to leave."
"I came here with my friends to help after realizing that something was wrong, and this is how you treat me!? I am not leaving until you just tell me what is going on and how I can help," Asamad told her.
"Oh, like I should treat you any better after what you did?"
They would've broken out into a fight had Vincent not come in between them.
"Alright, I think that is enough for now," he said.
"Vincent, please do not get involved," Asamad pleaded. "This is between the two of us only."
"I'm not trying to do that, but rather, I'm trying to prevent the both of you from getting yourselves involved into a fight."
Vincent turned to Ophelia to say something, but she looked at him and spoke first.
"Wait.. I feel like I have seen you before," she began. "Yet, I have not."
"That might be because I am a descendant of yours. I am the last of our bloodline," he explained.
"Well, I did not know that I have a living descendant." She then respectfully bowed to him. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Vincent."
"It is a pleasure to meet you as well," he stated, also bowing respectfully to her. "I think, however, you should let your husband stay. He just wants to know what is going on."
She looked down and sighed for a moment, then stared at Asamad again.
"Fine, stay then. However, I still do not want to be around you, so don't think for a second that I won't try to avoid you."
"Thank you," he said, to her and then to Vincent.
"Of course," Vincent replied.
Ophelia then walked away, leaving Asamad and others to talk amongst themselves.
