Many Years Ago:
Ophelia just laid awake in bed as the night grew colder and colder. She hated being without him. Sure, Asamad was still living with her, but it already felt like he had left.
'Why is he acting like this? Did I do something wrong?' she thought to herself.
She sighed, sitting up as she realized she wasn't going to get any sleep anytime soon, and quickly tied her hair up in a bun before she left the bedroom.
She grabbed a candelabrum off of the wall and made her way through the hallway of the castle.
Ophelia then stopped in front of her son's bedroom door for a moment, wondering if she should talk to him now about what's been happening recently. Of course, he hadn't been involved in any of the fights between her and Asamad, for the reasons of Asamad forcing him to stay out of it and for Ophelia not wanting him to get hurt.
She shook her head and kept walking, deciding that she should just let him sleep for now and that the both of them will talk about it in private some other time.
Eventually, she found Asamad in the study room, with him fully concentrating on his dark magic.
"Asamad…?" she called out.
He looked up at her instantly.
"What is it?" he asked.
"It's getting very late, I think you should go to bed."
"Absolutely not. Now, get out."
Ophelia stared at him in shock.
"What is going on with you lately?" she wondered.
"I am practicing my magic!" he started to yell. "Therefore, I do not need any sleep, and I certainly do not need you disturbing me!"
"Am I disturbing you? Or are you just being cruel?"
He walked up towards her in fury.
"Don't you ever call me cruel!"
"Well, that's what you are right now, whether you want to hear it or not!" she shot back.
Asamad gave her an icy stare.
"You are a fool for disrespecting me," he scolded. "You shall regret this."
"Just please go to bed," Ophelia begged. "You barely have had any sleep in days because you've been so obsessed with your magic."
"I'm not obsessed! I'm simply reaching my full potential, and soon, I'll get mortals and warlocks alike to worship me, and ghosts to be extremely loyal to me. I shall be unstoppable, and if you reach your potential, I will make sure you're worshipped too. We can rule the whole world together!"
He reached out his hand to her, but she immediately took a step back.
"No! While it's true that I want to be treated fairly, however, I do not want to be treated like a god!" she refused. "You're going insane, Asamad."
Asamad grew angry at that, so much that he started floating, and his hands were filled with his dark magic.
"INSANE!?" he repeated.
Ophelia felt a fear that she never had before in her entire life. She wanted to run, to hide, but all she could do was stand there and tremble as her husband's power grew stronger.
"Stop this, NOW!" she exclaimed, once she found the courage to speak after a moment.
Asamad raised his hand and blasted his magic at her as she tried to run.
She fell down, feeling the insufferable pangs as it hit her in the stomach.
She lied there for a few moments panting before finally being able to get up. She then took a quick look back at him and immediately ran out of the room as fast as she could, with tears streaming down her face.
He came down now, and continued concentrating on his magic.
Present Day:
The gang entered a dark bedroom now. The windows were wide open, letting in the cold from the dark night outside, there was dust everywhere, and the bed was not made.
"This used to be mine and Ophelia's bedchamber," Asamad told everyone.
"Looks like she hasn't bothered to clean it up after you left since there's so much dust here," Shaggy told him.
"Well, neither of them are sleeping in it anymore, so she has no need to," Vincent replied.
Daphne looked over and saw a piece of paper lying on the floor.
"Hey, what's this doing here?" she wondered, pointing to it.
Everyone else looked at the piece of paper.
"I don't know, it seems strange that it's just left there on the floor," Velma said.
Vincent picked up the paper and looked at it for a moment, before realizing who wrote it.
"This is a letter written by Ophelia… to Asamad."
Asamad looked down at him.
"She wrote a letter to me?"
"Wait, she never gave it to you?" Daphne asked.
"No, I never knew about this," he told her.
"So, who's going to read it?" Jayden questioned.
Vincent took another glance at the letter.
"Well, it's written in an ancient language, and I do not think you will be able to translate it into English."
He looked up at Asamad and handed the letter over to him.
"I think you should be the one to read it," he smiled.
Asamad smiled back and took the letter, then he started to read it:
"Dear Asamad,
It's been so long since I last saw you. I honestly don't know exactly how long it's been. Everything has gotten worse for me since you left. I've been constantly staying up all night thinking about every possible thing that could've happened to you after you were locked within the Chest Of Demons.
That's not all of it either. I recently had these severe chest pains, so severe to the point where I could not breathe. My heart was beating so quickly and I couldn't handle it anymore. I collapsed onto the floor and my heart stopped beating permanently. Next thing I knew, I was dead, and I ended up in this strange, shattered version of our castle. I finally realized I was in some other dimension when I realized that our son wasn't with me, nor any of our friends.
Truthfully, I thought about you throughout all of it. When you began to turn evil, the fights we had because of it, and how it hurt me. You hurt me. I still couldn't believe that you hurt me with not only your words, but with your magic too. I still remember that time when in the middle of the night, I saw you practicing your magic, and I told you that you should go to bed, but you refused. Then, we started fighting and you hit me with your magic, and I immediately ran out.
I also thought about when you left me. The moment you told me during our last fight that you never want to see me again, and then you slammed the door. I was devastated. Why did you do that to me? Why did you do all of this?
I hate you for it, and yet, somehow, I still love you. Even after all of the things you did, I am still waiting here for you to come back to me. I know that you might never read this letter, but in case you come back one day, I've placed it on our bedchamber floor for you to find. I have not forgotten about you, Asamad, and I hope that maybe, you have not forgotten about me as well.
Sincerely, Ophelia"
Everyone was completely silent for a few moments after Asamad stopped reading the letter, having no idea what to say, until Daphne finally broke the silence.
"Oh my gosh…" she gasped.
"She's been waiting for him here this entire time," Jayden said.
"We were right, she really does still love him," Cheryl confirmed.
"And she didn't make this place herself, she just showed up here after she died," Flim Flam pointed out.
"Wait," Velma began. "She said that she had severe chest pains, shortness of breath, and that her heart was beating rapidly." She was in deep thought for a second. "I remember that those are three of the main symptoms of broken heart syndrome. Guys, Ophelia died of a broken heart!"
Everyone else gasped and looked at each other, while Asamad just stood there, staring at the letter.
"I broke her heart," he realized. "She died because of me. I killed my wife!"
He shed a few tears, dropped the letter and fell to the floor, covering his face with his hands in utter guilt.
Everyone came around him, putting their hands on his shoulders and arms to comfort him.
"We can still fix this, it's not over yet," Daphne told him.
"No, we can't," the red ghost replied, wiping the tears from his eyes. "I know Vincent forgave me for what I did to him, but this time, I don't think I can be forgiven for what I did to Ophelia. I'm sorry but I cannot handle this, I need to leave this place now."
He stood up and started to walk away, and everyone immediately protested.
"You can't just leave!" Shaggy exclaimed.
"Ophelia needs you," Velma said.
"Re still rhave to relp rher, rand rou rhave to prove to rher rhat rou're seeking redemption," Scooby reminded him.
"Please do not give up on her," Vincent pleaded.
"I already gave up on her when I walked out on her all those years ago. The rest of you are the only ones that can help her now!" Asamad yelled. "I'll see all of you later."
He then walked out and slammed the door.
"Re left, Ri can't believe rit," Scooby whimpered.
"Wow, I've never seen him cry real tears before," Flim Flam sighed.
"Great, what are we going to do now?" Shaggy wondered.
"Now, we have to talk to Ophelia and help her get to the afterlife ourselves," Vincent replied.
"Vincent, I don't know if we can do that. Asamad probably has more of a chance of getting her to the afterlife than we do on our own," Cheryl frowned.
"Well, Asamad is already gone, so we don't have a choice," Daphne told her. "We agreed that we were going to help Ophelia, and that's what we're going to do, whether Asamad comes back here or not."
Everyone nodded in agreement, and Jayden picked up the letter.
"Alright, let's go."
With that, everyone quickly went out of the room.
Ophelia found herself downstairs in a dark room, lit only by a few candles and her glowing spirit.
Suddenly, she heard a voice speak to her.
"You know he's not coming back, right?"
"Who are you?" she asked, looking around to try to find out where the voice was coming from.
"You know who I am, and so does Asamad," the voice said.
Ophelia immediately grabbed a candle.
"Come into the candlelight so that I may see your face," she ordered.
She waited for a moment, and finally, a figure stepped out from the darkness and into the candlelight. Once she saw whose face it was, she gasped in terror and stepped back.
"Convington!"
"Yes, it's me. Once I found out where your husband was back in May, it only took me a little bit of time to find out where you went. You're absolutely pathetic for waiting here for him all this time!" the ghost fumed at her.
"You don't know how much he means to me!" she shot back.
"And you mean little to him, so little that he's been helping his friends recapture the other 12 ghosts from the chest instead of thinking about you."
Ophelia looked away for a second, and then gave him a cold stare.
"Get out of my castle," she told him.
"I would, but I have an offer for you first," Covington said. "You can work for me and join me in defeating Asamad and removing his soul from existence permanently, since you're still angry with him for what he did to you all those years ago."
"You are insane! Just because I am still angry with him does not mean I want to remove his soul from existence. If that ever happened to him, my heart would break even more than it already did."
The ghost gave her a scowl, and grabbed her hand.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" Ophelia yelled.
"Since you refused my offer, you get this!" he shouted.
He put a purple stamp on her wrist, and it just disappeared shortly after.
"What does this mean?" Ophelia wondered.
"The stamp means that I own your soul now," Covington explained. "You had a choice to work for me or perish, and you chose to perish. Now, you have a limited amount of time before you are permanently erased from existence."
"But this cannot be! You have to remove this stamp from me at once!"
"No, it's too late for you. Goodbye, Ophelia Van Ghoul."
He walked away from her, and Ophelia stood there, screaming for help as she felt painful shocks in her soul from the stamp.
Note: Covington, who is the ghost that appeared in my 2nd and 4th episodes and now in this story, is based off of Caleb Covington from the Netflix series 'Julie And The Phantoms.' (His blue eyes that were mentioned in my 2nd episode was hinting at that) Since in the series, he puts stamps on ghosts which causes their souls to be wiped from existence permanently after they refused to join him, I added him to my 13 Ghosts timeline so that he'll have a huge part in Asamad's fear of being erased from existence. In my timeline, he'll be referred to by his last name mostly, and is a little more evil than he is in 'Julie And The Phantoms.'
