I might also be posting a more in-depth story of a certain year. which year will be up to you, to vote on as you read what happens. i'm not promising anything, but it might be fun, yes? Enjoy.

Chapter 1 – Year One

Dumbledore had left again. It wasn't uncommon at all for him to keep leaving. He'd been doing it ever since the first night, every time going off to fight some threat, something for the good of wizard kind.

Got to hate people like that, don't you? What if what he's fighting is actually about to help us? I heard him squabbling over some stone with someone who looked positively ancient, but it probably wasn't important.

Plus I don't think he likes me all that much at all. I mean, in the year I've changed, learned to control myself better than when we first met. But he's just so…blind to improvement if he doesn't help it. He goes around trying to be all righteous and fight for the greater good, but who can really determine what the greater good is?

Slughorn let it slip that I'm Slytherin's descendant the first day of potions, after I asked what the Slytherin house was all about. I did some research, more than that hat ever did, and discovered why the whole school seems to be against my house.

It was because Salazar Slytherin was widely regarded as the bad guy. I'm not sure why, and I'm not sure by whom, but he was. I disagree entirely. Salazar Slytherin was a man of power. He had such great power that the others were scared, terrified enough to label it as evil.

I will know his power. It won't be hard at all, just some library research of the secretive kind. And I must know about the chamber, where it is, and what secrets are in it.

Old Sluggy has just inspired me to work even harder still. And now I've even got allies. Nott and Dolohov are obedient, to say the least. The others I can manipulate, it really isn't that hard. In just two months, I had a seventh year taking library books out of the restricted section.

I'm working on a new name, too. Tom seems too common, much too common, for someone like me. From what I've been able to find out, the Chamber of Secrets holds a monster only I can control. I refuse to be known as Tom, that boy, the one that shares a name with countless others.

Hitler began campaigning for invasion. My orphanage sent me the newspaper. I'm going to stay here this summer, at the school. It was hard to arrange it, but Dippet eventually gave in. I don't ever what to step into the Muggle world again.

From what I've heard, there will soon be a war. Hitler has power, far too much for his own good. Muggles shouldn't have that kind of influence.

I need a name like Hitler, one that will be instantly recognized. But it must be better than that filthy Muggle's name. No, my name will be the one others will fear to speak. My name will symbolize my power; create terror in anyone who utters it.

Tom Marvolo Riddle just won't cut it. But what could it be? Maybe if I simply rearranged some letters…
